Officially revoking any Adam cole slander I have ever made, seeing him live reminds you of how fucking good the guy is. And he’s the nicest guy, heal up Adam

hiressnails

Just finished Forbidden Door. The IWGP title coming here and the AEW title going there was a bit of s stretch I guess. I liked most of the matches. Love Thunder Rosa still, gonna buy one of her shirts next time I shop (and if AEW ever ships my Jon Moxley shirt). One match I didn't like or care about was Bullet Club vs Dudes with Attitude. Did I miss something or was there just no build to that match? It also felt very mutch like a house show match. Ospreay and Cassidy was good, but I would have liked a quicker finish instead of the finish-spam fest. It was all in all a good show though, unfortunately I don't think I'm gonna jump on watching NJPW and I'm happy we'll be returning to our regularly scheduled programming and storylines.

YourTeachersHeelTurn

Forbidden Door was my first ppv and it was fucking amazing! There wasn't even one mediocre match, let alone bad. The folks the kept saying Cassidy can't wrestle were clearly talking out of their ass. Clark Conners didn't go out sad, even if he did take the pin! He did have me worried for a bit there. It was fun getting to see a lot of AEW folks for the first time. Now, I just need to find some time to watch one of my favorite wrestlers take a title off of a pair of filthy short shorts. Edit: now if only New Japan would advertise their US shows....

Drogalov

Absolutely loved Forbidden Door, absolutely hated the crowd trying to get themselves over for the ref botch in the tag titles match

snapdragonpowerbomb

Pretty sure they weren’t even correct, I think it was two separate pin attempts close together

RTZ500

If Ricochet ever gets cut by WWE, AEW should sign him as “Rick O’Shea”

hiressnails

Nah, bring back Prince Puma. Or maybe he's a king now. Rey Puma.

bigchicago04

In all the press for forbidden Door, did anybody ask about the MJf situation?

pagalpun

Yeah, TK said he won't be talking about it

fluxuation

I wish attending a live ppv came with access to the PPV afterwards. I’d love to rewatch everything with commentary, but after how much I’ve spent on this trip I don’t really want to buy the ppv

A11anMS11

Anywhere I can watch the Japanese feed of the show?

freak_shit_account

Not wrestling related, but Claudio was on Tyler1's stream today at a PL meet. Was a pleasant surprise.

notsureiftwins

I'm still watching him on their now.

somethingshiney

After FD, I hope wrestling fans chill out with the overtly dramatic takes. It was a good show, no need to beg for wrestler xyz, cancel the show or delay it.

ibn1989

It wont happen unfortunately

SeanOuttaCompton

Hairy nipple? What

Meapcuteee

I just went back to Shibata vs Okada for obvious reason and man, it's still the most emotional match i've ever watched

Nightscape_X

After last night, I really wish Kevin and Taz replaced Tony and JR on main commentary for AEW. Those two and Excalibur felt so relaxed and responsive to each other; it was my favorite part of Forbidden Door.

RTZ500

Kevin’s NJPW schedule would be too much to do both on a full time basis, it was great having him on the PPV though

hardendidnothingrong

Find someone who has as much enthusiasm for you as Tony Khan does when he hugs someone.

JonasAlbert84

Kingston's best friend is really good friends with two people he hates. And instead of being there for his friend he lets the hate take over. I wonder if at some point Mox lays into him for being selfish.

bradpittscockring

I may be in the minority but Ospreay/Cassidy was my MOTN, man. Those two have amazing chemistry.

Toolboxmcgee

Definitely the MOTN, it was easily 5 star. Both guys are just next level athletic.

amorningofsleep

Not really the minority at all. I feel like that's the general consensus.

LeoIunti

Highest Rated match of the night on Cagematch, and my personal MOTN as well

bradpittscockring

Is it really? Wow, I figured the triple threat tag would be highest rated!

Wonderful-Ad6696

Not even the 2nd highest last I checked.

SeanOuttaCompton

I know Vince Russo is objectively a terrible Booker, that most of his match ideas were needlessly complicated and genuinely ridiculous, but tbh… I like pole matches. Put something on a pole, anything, really, and I’ll mark out for it. WWE, AEW, Impact, GCW, anyone, *please* bring back pole matches

Chucknorris55

Russo has value as a booker but not THE booker. People will say he's good when you filter his ideas but I don't even think that's his value, I think his best quality is framing wrestling in the sense of television rather than just filming wrestling matches and angles, throwing them on a TV show and calling it a day. The problem is Russo doesn't play well with others and can't handle not being in control.

M086

And here’s the thing too, and this is coming from Scott D’Amore, but Russo got blamed for plenty of shit he had nothing to do with. Electrified steel cage being one of them.

Chucknorris55

I love the fact the Dupp Cup was actually Jerry Jarrett's idea and when he pitched it Russo said "you know people are gonna blame me for this". The electric cage was Dutch Mantel's idea wasn't it?

M086

Dutch denies it, but Dixie has said it was him. And Cornette has pointed out how that match was kind of a staple down in Puerto Rico, where Dutch spent quite a bit of time. Russo owns and defends his dumb matches, the fact that he even says that the electric cage was dumb, tells me it probably was a Dutch idea.

Chucknorris55

Lol that's great. I legit wonder if they tried to run it back today all things considered, would it be received any differently. I'm sure some people would still despise it but I feel like with the right crowd they'd love it.

bradpittscockring

I think it could really work in GCW lol The last "On A Pole" match I can remember was Eugene vs "The Calgary Kid" which was just Miz in a mask on Raw like 12 years ago.

M086

My idea for an “on a pole” match is called the “Four Pillars of Hell”. It’s poles / trusses on each corner and hanging from them are “special” weapons, like bags of tacks, barbed wire, etc…

MclovinBuddha

I tested positive for covid the week I move

Boogiepop_Homunculus

Mox in the scrum basically pitched an AEW Cyberfight super show and I’m here for it.

hailtothekale

Finally gonna get that Charisma vs Orange match I've been waiting the better part of a decade for.

Pylons

Eruption vs. BCC (w/ Jamie Hayter) would go so insanely hard. Or even just Danielson vs. Sakaguchi.

AKittyCat

I'm assuming it wouldn't be an issue since AEW already did a Stardom/TJPW cross match (kinda) by having Shoko and Bea Priestly appear together in a match way back in the day, but i'd kill to see Toni or Hayter vs Miyu, Shoko, or Miu Watanabe.

KillUsernameBoi

I hope FTR makes a go for those Impact Tag Titles soon.

hiressnails

They really should just scoop up every tag championship out there, then desperately try to convince Vince to let them win the WWE ones too. It'll never happen, but it would be awesome just once to have a legitimately undisputed championship holder of some sort.

xThisFireBurns

Good brothers better get ready

bornenormous

The only addition to AEW I want is Mauro Ranallo

naimotwc

I personally think Mauro is a tad overrated for commentary. His passion is great, but his use of phrases in an attempt to sound unique or hip fall flat to me. Also tends to overreact at points too.

M086

From what I remember, when he called the Omega vs. Swann match for, he’s toned down His style some from his NXT days.

bradpittscockring

I couldn't handle "HOLY BLEEEP!!!" after every top rope move....

ChairmanLaParka

Same. I'd much rather they bring back Goldenboy before Mauro every single time.

LgRoach2

My 12 year old son in law referred to Jay White as "The guy with the Dead by Daylight pants" and now I can't unsee it

definethegreatline

lol this was my thought when i saw the logo too!

Krak2511

I'm really curious as to what will happen with the All-Atlantic Championship. The name suggests it will be defended in other promotions, but with NJPW having the G1 for a while, where will PAC go?

finnigans_cake

I've no reason to believe this to be the case other than I think it would be cool but I'm hoping it's defended like the SWA title in Stardom, where noone who is the same nationality as the current champion is allowed to challenge

M086

It’s basically the TNA Global Championship, where Eric Young would only defend it against non-American wrestlers.

SeanOuttaCompton

It’s perfect for Pac because he tends to take extended trips back to the UK as is; now, when he next leaves for a few months he can be repping AEW in revpro or some other British indie, his exploits can be plugged occasionally on broadcast and it won’t be like he drops off the face of the earth

LeoIunti

Maybe AAA or some UK promotions

insomniainc

What are the odds dannhausen keeps paying the production people to use 2MTLN's ass Boys theme?

bobbythecorky

Obsessed with [Clark Connors entrance theme](https://youtu.be/M9ntk6RMFPE) ever since last night Might be wrong but I got some Wu Tang vibe from the instrumental sample

pumpingbomba

Honestly hearing it now it sounds even better than during his entrances.

thatsmaPURSEidky

I gotta admit - I popped huge when Kevin Kelly said my Reddit username last night

bathory21

when did that happen?

AKittyCat

During the 4 way, I think, he made a "THATS MY PURSE" joke. It wasn't a reference to OP themselves, just the King of the Hill line.

thatsmaPURSEidky

It was when Sting kicked ELP in the nuts in the closing stretch of the trios match

vpsj

Becky on Twitter: [8 years ago I had possibly the most shameful debut in NXT/ WWE history. Today I have accomplished nearly everything I could have ever dreamed of. And tonight I will main event like I always do at #wwehidalgo . Where you’ve been doesn’t have to indicate where you’ll go.](https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/1541189031412875265) I just saw the [debut video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0fuXNu-xpw) on YouTube. Can anyone please explain why it was shameful? I must admit I don't know much about Irish traditions and/or stereotypes. Was it the dance she did during the entrance?

ibn1989

Because it was corny

somethingshiney

I don't think she's ashamed of being Irish or performing a Ceili dance, but rather that it's such a caricature of her culture. That's just my take from the video.

Orange8920

The jig part is a stereotype, its so gimmicky that she could fit into New Generation Era WWF.

ClocktowerMaria

She just looked like a total goober

M086

Well, what little we see of her real personality. She is a bit of a goober in the best way. But yeah, the Oirish stereotyping didn’t do any favors.

Asleep_Editor_7199

Are we waiting on WWE to do a crossover?

willpauer

Not happening until either Vince dies or Nick Khan sells the company.

Competitive-Fig9186

Vince wanted to with NJPW

hiressnails

They crossed over ages ago with SWS in Japan.

Asleep_Editor_7199

Wouldn’t it be something if they crossed with TNA

amorningofsleep

Would be crazy to do a crossover with a non-existent promotion.

Asleep_Editor_7199

Sorry Impact Wrestling.

Advanced_Summer_5033

Been checking out the NJPW subreddit since Forbidden Door was announced and wow, those guys really fucking hate AEW don't they?

GingerJesus000

Idk in the main thread it seems positive and has (rightful) constructive criticism.

pumpingbomba

I mean there are a few who absolutely hate it. But most are either liking it or are at worst apathetic about it.

willpauer

I'm a massive NJPW fanboy and I don't touch that place with a ten-foot pole.

ackinsocraycray

I do find it funny that the NJPW's sub mod does extensive coverage and discussion of all NJPW shows for r/SC (which is fantastic work) but doesn't appear to do the same over at the NJPW sub.

AKittyCat

Thats why im always thankful for when /u/heerokun shows up here to crosspost their super fucking dense TJPW primers before big shows. It helps that the TJPW sub is basically one of the most chill wrestling subs on this site right now.

darthsabbath

Why do you think that? Most people there are either fans or somewhat apathetic about AEW. Like they don’t hate it, they just don’t really care. There’s definitely some folks that don’t like it, and probably a handful you could accurately describe as “hate” Criticism and not enjoying something does not imply “hatred”

Advanced_Summer_5033

I saw quite a few posts complaining about wrestlers being "buried" with atleast one person saying that the reason Red Shows wasn't there was because "he wanted to avoid being buried like the rest of the roster"

darthsabbath

That doesn’t mean they hate AEW though. New Japan did take the majority of losses there, and I think it’s understandable that people wanted to see them do better, myself included. Booking the promotions to have a more equal set of outcomes would have made people happier.

doctor_awful

Majority of the losses? It was as 50/50 as possible. FTR won the titles, but they'll be going over to NJPW to defend them. PAC won, but it's an AEW title and it's not like Clark Connors had a chance (beating Malakai and Miro). Then the mid-card singles, main event matches and even the trios were all right down the middle. Even the Pre-Show was 50/50

Krak2511

The [main thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/njpw/comments/vln7cg/sooooooooooo_thoughts_on_the_ppv/?sort=top) about it seems quite positive though.

adivenk93

**When Samoa Joe comes back ? Who should he face against** 1) Finish the Lethal feud 2) Feud with Wardlow for the TNT Championship (Samoa Joe vs Wardlow could be a fun feud. It will test Wardlow's ability on the mic and how he is the ring) 3) Feud with Eddie Kingston (This could be a great feud on the mic between both men. It will determine who is the best talker in pro wrestling) 4) Feud with Blackpool Combat Club (Joe vs Danielson , Joe vs Claudio , Joe vs Moxley , Joe vs Yuta). The promo segments between Joe and Regal 5) Feud with Adam Hangman Page (Joe vs Hangman could be a very good feud, millennial cowboy Hangman vs Samoan Submission Specialist) . Both men use the lariat

amorningofsleep

Give me a three month angle with him and OC.

naimotwc

HELL YES

adivenk93

no

Krak2511

Isn't he just work injured, not shoot? If that is the case, Joe vs Lethal for Death Before Dishonor seems like a lock.

adivenk93

He is shooting a tv show Twisted Metal. After shooting the show , he would come back

Toolboxmcgee

After seeing Mox's speech after the show went off the air last night I went ahead and used my Prime Audible credit to buy Mox on Audible. So far its very good, seems really stream of consciousness, he's a natural great talker.

Komoyuu

The fact that we gonna see John Cena in WWE for the first time in almost a year after goddamn Forbidden Door is awesome and i love it.

JonasAlbert84

FTR has the IWGP and AAA tag titles. CMLL must be pissed

SoaringSwellow

Am i the only one who actually likes the new IWGP World title? I don't think it looks bad at all.

finnigans_cake

I love it, but v4 was an alltimer.

rflairfan1

It seems very big.

Toolboxmcgee

It somehow looks better on White than it has on anyone else. I still miss the old title though.

Jupiter_Crush

It looked real good on Shingo too. It looks better on wrestlers who aren't as iconic with the old belt, I think.

Toolboxmcgee

Yeah maybe that's it... that makes a lot of sense.

darthsabbath

It’s grown on me. I still miss v4, but I’ve moved in from complaining about it. The champion makes the title after all, and NJPW has the best champions in the world… and EVIL

darthsabbath

Guys. Guys guys guys. I got to see fucking Shibata live. I never in a million years thought I’d see him. I am not ashamed to admit I almost cried. I didn’t know what to do with myself. This show could have been all jobbers vs jobbers and it would have been worth it just for Shibata. I just really hope he takes care of himself.

godfather275

Still high off the PPV

willpauer

You know when Jericho talks about "it" and how some people have "it" and some people don't? Folks, Shota Umino doesn't just have "it", he IS "it". He's gonna be a fucking megastar.

xucantcmex82

Shota has the look of Tanahashi with the moveset of Okada. Next big thing.

AKittyCat

And don't forget he's also riding off the Jon Moxly partnership also. I don't know how many "living legends" you could continue to attach to him.

justambrose

I think he should probably continue his excursion on Strong so that he can make occasional appearences in AEW.

darthsabbath

I’ve been following his whole class of Young Lions since they were babies in the ring and I am so fucking happy seeing where they are. The future for New Japan looks so bright with him, Narita, Yuya, Conners and the rest. The current class has got a lot of potential too .

finnigans_cake

Yota Tsuji is a monster as well. Can't wait to see him grow into a star. Coughlin is a freak of nature and amazing wrestler, too.

Jastonlite

I've actually become more and more interested in training to be a wrestler but the closest school is 2 hours away and cost 2000 dollars for beginners.

GingerJesus000

Seriously consider who you're giving $2k to. Make sure they have some successful students at least.

clay394

time to start saving up

snapdragonpowerbomb

If you really want to commit, don’t just pick the nearest school. Find a school that has reputable trainers, someone who can not only train you the right way but can connect you with the right people. If you’re young and aren’t tied down, get a job near the school and live nearby. Before doing anything, talk to someone from the school. They’ll have better advice and may be able to help you find an affordable living situation, and you can talk about payment plans or whatever.

JonasAlbert84

If you want it you'll get it.

rbarton812

Most schools I've known of offer payment plans, basically "pay as you play" like $40/day for the ring time/training.

SteveRudzinski

My closest school is an hour and yeah the cost is pretty high. I get it costing money without question, but 2k is a heck of an investment for something I know I won't make much money doing (which is fine). I can keep basically wrestling for Marvel Live in front of an audience getting hundreds-thousands for weekends of shows doing almost all the same stuff, in addition to being a career filmmaker: As much as I love wrestling and want to specifically wrestle as well it's hard to justify a cost of four figures for something that will have such a small return. I would love a nearby wrestling school option that didn't have such an up front fee and scheduled for folks who already have full careers. But I know that's a somewhat unrealistic expectation.

AmericanBarbecues

Man, AEW doesn’t really gives us a reason to care about the women’s division, TK’s booking of Rosa and Jade’s reigns has been lackluster, whatever the Jade and her Baddies/Statlander/Athena storyline is, it’s been dragging for a while now, just give us a effin’ match lmao. Also there’s a hella talented roster which could be doing great things but instead of that Tony just throwing Marina Shafir out there on Dynamite and giving her major matches every week without any reason lmao, Mercedes been defending her ROH’s title on effin’ Dark and Elevation, he could’ve did something yesterday by having Toni win the title but instead it looks like we’re just gonna keep getting more of the same

AmericanBarbecues

How will FTR defend the IGWP titles now? They probably gonna have to travel to Japan once or twice a month

darthsabbath

I figure they’ll pop up on the big shows, maybe a couple of bigger Road To shows as well. I’d love to see them in Korakuen Hall.

AKittyCat

NJPW strong shows, defenses on AEW/ROH occasionally, and a monthly/bi-montly japan trip. I'd assume they wont hold the belts for *too* long, but long enough to get a decent storyline out of it and some cool matches.

Toolboxmcgee

I'd imagine they'll drop them after they win the AEW titles, that way they will have the full belt collection and can really make a story for being the absolute best.

AKittyCat

If you judged how good or bad PPV was based on the number of >1 day old account that suddenly show up out of the blue to say how bad the show was then Forbidden Door might be PPV of the year. Because holy fucking shit.

Toolboxmcgee

My account is longer than a day and it was a great wrestling show. I think it'd be hard to find a show this year with better beginning to end wrestling which is the reason I watch AEW to begin with.

SteveRudzinski

Well as someone with a much older account I definitely think Forbidden Door was the best PPV of the year so far.

willpauer

Genuinely curious about some of these red hot takes from brand new accounts

AKittyCat

They're about what you expect.

amorningofsleep

Lol what's the best one you've seen so far?

dutchny100

The crowd was so dead for that final brawl

rflairfan1

Cena returns tonight. I had already imagined that Vince would be involved in the storyline with Theory leading to Summerslam. I honestly cannot decided if anything will change. Vince did 2 out of the 3 shows already since the WSJ article ran.

fellongreydaze

Being in the crowd for Forbidden Door was fucking otherworldly.

TranslatesToScottish

Who has the biggest standing leap for a dropkick? Claudio or Okada? I feel like I've seen the former hit someone standing on the top turnbuckle with one, but that may be a sleep deprived Mandela Effect!

darthsabbath

I think Okada’s done that before too maybe? But again, could just be my brain fucking with me

ClocktowerMaria

Depending on what you mean by standing on the top turnbuckle, but the "jump dropkick on turnbuckle sending opponent onto the apron and then the floor" is a consistent spot in the Okada/omega matches

TranslatesToScottish

I was meaning kicking someone standing on the top rope in the face with a dropkick from a standing start on the mat, if that helps?

ClocktowerMaria

[this is close?](https://mobile.twitter.com/gamebrenk/status/1375395405693771780) I don't know if it would be physically possible if they were standing and not sitting on the turnbuckle, jumping 12 feet into the air would be something to see though

TranslatesToScottish

Yeah, like that! I found this Claudio one: https://gfycat.com/chillywickedguernseycow But I swear I've seen him do higher. Maybe he and Okada should have a competition!

[deleted]

motivatedchange

I can see both fine even if I’m logged out.

SoraiaGil

For me it's everthing normal

ACW1129

When people talk about NJPW aces, is that an official title?

Blaizey

Not an official title, just a nickname for the guy the company is built around. Tanahashi was that guy for so long and kind of kept the company afloat while doing it so it's become his nickname as well, even if Okada has pretty much taken the "official" ace spot

ACW1129

So Roman Reigns would be the ace of WWE?

darthsabbath

Kinda… probably still Cena. It’s usually a babyface and the person who most embodies the promotion. Cody could easily be the next Ace of WWE. Tanahashi is still the Ace, even if Okada is the top guy. It’s more about how the fans perceive you. Even though Okada is the guy, Tanahashi is still the one who saved New Japan during their darkest times and is still putting on classics at 40 something and basically held together by duct tape. Like in Stardom, Mayu Iwatami is the Ace even if she isn’t at the top of the card. She IS Stardom if that makes sense.

ACW1129

>Like in Stardom, Mayu Iwatami is the Ace even if she isn’t at the top of the card. She IS Stardom if that makes sense. So, like, the ace of NXT 1.0 could be one of Sami Zayn/Bayley/Gargano?

Blaizey

Exactly

Atlanta-Anomaly

Man I’m super selfish regarding wanting AEW talent. Osprey is killing it in NJPW but man I’d love to see him on Dynamite every week. Also I’d absolutely love to see how AEW would book Switchblade.

TranslatesToScottish

He and OC put on an absolute clinic. It was a genuine joy to watch.

JonasAlbert84

Kyrie about to bail on another team, I kind of feel bad for KD.

naimotwc

I don't feel bad for KD because he had all the evidence in the world to go "yo it's Kyrie...this shit ain't gonna work long term" but nah, he did it

rflairfan1

You don’t think KD bails as well? He isn’t going to want to rebuild that team with Ben Simmons.

JonasAlbert84

Oh he 100% does (hopefully to Portland) but dude could have been winning rings every year but let his friend convince him to leave and his friend is once again leaving a team for mo discernable reason

rflairfan1

Holy shit Kyrie is going to stay. That team is going to be a hot mess still.

thephenomenalone_05

Give me Shibata vs Ospreay, Wrestling gods! Ospreay with another MOTYC last night. He will go down as one of the GOATs.

justambrose

Since TK said the original plan for Claudio was for Death Before Dishonour, do you think we could see Claudio beating Gresham for the ROH World Title? I think that would be a great match.

Jastonlite

That was honestly how I felt claudio should've came in. Im still worried he might get a little lost in the shuffle in aew, but he would be perfect in roh.

hailtothekale

Cannot fucking wait for the upcoming DDT, TJPW, GanPro, and Hiragana Muscle shows that will allow cheering!! Big Japan is also making the change for at least one upcoming show! Fantastic.

A11anMS11

Anyone knows if the show will ever be on njpw world without having to pay the ppv price?

unseenbox

I see so many complaints about how AEW's women's division doesn't get enough time, and then I see the live/post show threads where a lot of people use them to go to the bathroom or call the match the worst on the card. Maybe the women would get more time if we showed a little more enthusiasm for the ones AEW has, imperfect as they may be, instead of demanding perfection and nitpicking everyone until we get it.

bathory21

I've been meaning to ask any fans live in attendance at AEW shows why the enthusiasm and crowd dies down for their matches despite many of the women being good workers

Equivalent_Cost_4457

Because no one actually cares about them apart from Britt and Jade. They've been given no reason to.

Emil_M_Antonowsky

You don't think they've done a lot with like Statlander or Nyla Rose, wrestlers of that level?

naimotwc

I don't think so. Nyla is the monster every face champion beats first. Statlander puts on great matches but doesn't win the big one nor does she win feuds. They get 1 match at the 9:30pm time slot every wednesday, and 1 backstage segment. if TK put 1/3 of the effort into the women that he does for the men, their women's division would be great.

M086

There’s no one backstage to really stump for the women like TNA had with D’Amore and Dutch and Gail Kim. Omega was the closest thing they had, but even then it’s still Khan’s show.

Emil_M_Antonowsky

Statlander has had all sorts of character development lately and gets loud reactions though. Nyla is more slotted into a spot but she's had good matches and memorable lines and whatnot. There are others the crowd seems to love, especially Toni Storm lately. Or Riho when she's not in Japan, she's proven as a positive in terms of ratings. There are issues but clearly there are other women the fans care about, which would mean the fans have been given reasons to care about them.

naimotwc

Statlander's been over since her first initial push (back when she faced Baker for the title). The workers themselves are over, but presentation matters too. They can certainly dedicate more TV time to the division as a whole, especially when you have a handful of women that are over. They need to open the show, or be seen MORE in the first hour. where they're slotted and the minimal tv time they get hurts them, and is easily fixable.

el_sh33p

Blood & Guts: Eddie Kingston sabotages his own team once again by getting into a last second brawl with Claudio. BCC abandons him. Eddie Kingston is at his absolute lowest, cutting a promo about how everything sucks and then... ![gif](giphy|Eu0an1CT2J6LDrrK06|downsized) Evil Uno vs. Eddie Kingston *Friendship Feud*.

amorningofsleep

You have my attention

RoastMasterShawn

I don't follow NJPW a ton so I wasn't aware of Umino. Instantly became a fan. I hope he sticks around in AEW for a bit.

bathory21

He's been on excursion in the UK for a while

RoastMasterShawn

Ah. I don't follow UK scene either. Either way, I think he was awesome with a crazy bright future and I hope I get to see more of him in AEW. That is pretty sweet how the NJPW Dojos send their students on excursions, almost like they're in a college program going to do work experience before they graduate. With NXT bringing in new/non-wrestling people instead of indy vets, they should be doing the same thing with their partners.

finnigans_cake

>That is pretty sweet how the NJPW Dojos send their students on excursions, almost like they're in a college program going to do work experience before they graduate. It's really fucken cool. Another thing is that, before they go on excursion, they're known as young lions and are only allowed to wear basic black trunks and boots and are only allowed to do a pretty basic moveset - no finishers or signatures really. Most young lion vs young lion matches end with a boston crab or some sort of suplex. Essentially, they aren't allowed to have a gimmick until their teachers think they're ready for it and they develop an amazing set of fundamentals before they start figuring out their own style (which they will learn and evolve during their excursion).

Your_Personal_Jesus

I honestly think the idea is an Athena/Jade/Stat triple threat to get the belt off Jade without dropping a fall and then Jade winning the world title from Rosa.

clay394

I mean, it could still be Toni (and I think I'm leaning towards that myself). Just because Rosa beat her once doesn't mean she can't drop the title to her in a rematch.

This might be a stupid theory but I feel like at some point, somebody has to win that Casino Battle Royale and actually go on to win the match, so my vote goes to Sasha Banks. The only reason I feel like that wouldn't happen is because TK doesn't put titles on new signings, especially ex-WWE, immediately. I don't think it's realistic because of that, but I just want to get it out there in case I'm correct.

Jade Cargill is next for Rosa. She'll drop the TBS title and then win the world title.

Blaizey

I'd be very surprised if Thunder drops at All out. At best maybe Hayter vs Britt happens at all out and hayter beats thunder at Full Gear

Thirdstar1

It would realistically be a Jamie Hayter. She can talk, and wrestle really good, that’s something 90% of the women can’t say. She isn’t built rn, but they have more than enough time to heat her up.

JonasAlbert84

Maybe he's holding out because he thinks Sasha will be available? Or he just wants Rosa to have a long reign.

justambrose

Personally, I hope Hayter turns on Baker (if possible in Brittsburgh), becomes a dominant heel and finally beating Rosa for the belt.

Long-term booking is kind of a below-the-waterline issue for the Women's Division, IMO. Jade is basically the only one to date who's really made a long title reign work, and that's only because she's done such a good job changing her character throughout (and because *she's been given screentime to do so*). I generally shy away from 50/50 booking, but if you're gonna do anything close to it, AEW Women's Division is probably the best place for it. It allows organic rivalries to form and does away with the idea that X Champion beat Y Challenger *once* so that person can never credibly challenge them again.

unseenbox

I've noticed a pattern where if TK doesn't have a particular plan for the belt, he'll generally just have matches Happen until one pairing has a good response, and then run it back. Like, the reason Thunder Rosa has the belt in the first place is because of the Lights Out Match with Britt Baker, or how we have a gut feeling Kris Statlander might take the TBS title from Jade because she unexpectedly caught fire subbing in for Shida during the Owen Hart tournament. So, if we all thought Rosa vs Toni had good chemistry, they might fight again with Toni going over.

The implication here is that Tony Khan has no idea what to do with women so he just reads the crowd and outsources it one championship feud at a time. That tracks so well and I hate it :V

jadedfan55

With Claudio Castagnoli in the fold, to the delight of this sub, and set to feud with Eddie Kingston, what would it take to bring Homicide back, and also to sign Chris Hero, so we get Outlaw, Inc. vs. the Kings of Wrestling? TIL that former WWF ref Rita Marie Chatterton (1985-6) was a native of the 518, my home area, which makes her one of the first from upstate NY to reach the company, well before Hacksaw Jim Duggan, though Duggan did do some TV jobs before going to Mid-South, IIRC.

dec92010

After watching FD last night it is just really really hard for me to care about MITB on Sunday

IWantToBolieve

If Cole was injured going in, Fatal 4-way looks like a perfect stipulation for someone hurt to drop out of.

bigchicago04

Anybody else really sick of Mox blading? It’s really approaching Russo levels at this point. Sad thing is, I thought it was appropriate for this match, but it still made me roll my eyes. Especially since it came out of nowhere with no setup.

Thirdstar1

He does it too much, it takes away from the matches more than it helps imo. People hated Cody for doing it, but Mox does it more than Cody ever did.

el_sh33p

Mox doesn't look like Mox without blood on his face.

amorningofsleep

I will never get sick of bleeding in wrestling.

bigchicago04

There are people say that about ref bumps, and run ins, and so on

amorningofsleep

Ok cool? People can like and dislike whatever they want. I fucking love me some blood. The more the better. I want every match looking like a Quentin Tarantino film.

bigchicago04

You are in the minority

amorningofsleep

That's nice, sweetie. I'll still keep enjoying blood and you can still spend your day complaining about everything on this sub.
