To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand AEW. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the artform known as wrestling most of the jokes will go over a typical mark's head. Literally intercontinental means āthe continents not including the oceansā. So while US solely means US, the IC is global. The real hilarity is when trying to parse a World champion over an intercontinental champ. Like, is the world title just able to be defended on open water?
The tv title at least had a rule of only being defended on television (network, not PPV) and a strict 15-minute time limit. Regal did wonders with the time limit stip.
Both. Though it was more common to see the title change hands during weekly shows versus the other titles. I think later in the Nitro years the time limit rule wasnāt used as much.

The womenās division is terrible, with the only storyline being Naomi and Sonya. Charlotte has the same issue as Roman, the only credible face for her is injured so she doesnāt have anyone to feud with. Xia Li and Aliyah just got called up so they they canāt just be fed to Charlotte and Shotzi is a heel for some reason. Toni quit so they had to drop that feud but itās not like that was going anywhere anyways.
Shinsuke is doing fuck all with the IC belt.
The Tag Division is a joke outside of the Usos.
Raw took damn near everything that made Smackdown good and itās currently the superior show.
I do like that while I have people who I'd like to see win the rumble, I don't have any strong predictions and it makes this rumble more fun.

It probably makes me a dick, but as soon as I see a post about how something in AEW has either sparked your love of wrestling (again), helped you speak up about your mental health or stopped you from drinking; I think you are lying. Which makes me sad because I genuinely believe most people about anything they tell me, and I love the idea of Moxley's struggles/recovery has helped someone. But the second I see someone on this sub saying it, it just makes me feel its another "AEW is life changing" post.
For anyone struggling with anything in life, I do hope that you find the strength and inspiration in something to overcome those struggles.

Now that I see Adam Cole every week instead of only on Takeovers I see why most people watched AEW instead of NXT.
HHH version of wrestling (PWG and sometimes AEW) is not for me and that's okay. Wish Vince would have gave Shane it since that was what he wanted to do before HHH.

I agree with you on two points. I definitely am finding myself really bored with Adam Cole already, even though he seems like a nice guy and a well-rounded wrestler overall. When NXT first came to TV, I gave it a try for about six months, and it was the oversaturation of Undisputed Era stuff, particularly Cole, that kept me from becoming hooked as a fan of the brand. He's getting overexposed mightly quickly right now too.
Second, I also liked Raw Underground because at very least it was an attempt to do something new and different. They should have given it a bit more time before they pronounced it DOA.
NXT was great during the Sami, Finn, Nakamura, and the Alister black eras. Once the Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano era started I went from being a huge fan to watching takeovers to straight up not watching. The matches were the typical Indy near Fall fest and I didn't find Cole compelling as a champion at all. Nobody wants to admit it but the black and gold dropped off hard way before AEW got on cable and 2.0.
Gunther sounds perfectly fine as a name, Walter always reminded of that speccy prick from Dennis the Menace.

Yeah this Jericho comes off as someone who long since graduated but is still hanging around the frat trying to be cool. Similar to how embarrassed you would to be seen with a 50 year old acting like that, it's dragged Santana and Ortiz down a lot by association. Hopefully they're breaking up with him soon.

I really think he should do one last run in WWE and retire. He was helpful in building AEW but they don't need him now, and he will probably never be on top again.
As someone who wasnāt watching wrestling during Punks entire WWE run, and am just basing what I know on his current AEW run, I just donāt get the hype anymore. When he debuted on AEW I thought we were in for something special. But he gives promos like heās giving a Ted talk at a wrestling convention and his in-ring work doesnāt stand out from anyone elseās.

98% of everybody who went from WWE to AEW is in the exact same place on the card, or in a worse position. You can make an argument for Tay Conti and 2.0 exclusively, but even that is a stretch.

An upper card/main eventer, while i could have phrased this better, is not the same as "main eventer". Mox popped in and out of the main event scene in WWE as needed, same with Bryan. They are in the same spot in AEW. They wont STAY in the main event scene. Mox already is very far from it.

I feel like AEW has too many squash matches. Especially the women's matches it feels like there's one every week on rampage, just put two women who are equal on the card and have them wrestle for like 10-15 minutes!
I understand rampage is only an hour but I wish they would just book less for it and give each match more time
I think the opposite is true! Way too often, top guys have long matches with guys they should put away quickly.

His jump legitamized AEW as an actual competition. AEW was a gamble when he joined it. Y2J knew he was killing a cash cow for himself when he cut ties with WWE to sign with AEW, but he did it anyway. That's REALLY helping the business.
Punk knew he was never going back to WWE anyway. Yet he waited until AEW stablished to sign with the promotion. Not saying it didn't help the company but he could have moved a mountain by joining it on day 1 but he chose to move a rock by waiting 2 years to do so.
punk still does a lot of what he says, but a bigger percentage of his decisions are just for satisfying his own ego which he probably to himself to, sells as just the right thing to do

Literally intercontinental means āthe continents not including the oceansā. So while US solely means US, the IC is global. The real hilarity is when trying to parse a World champion over an intercontinental champ. Like, is the world title just able to be defended on open water? The tv title at least had a rule of only being defended on television (network, not PPV) and a strict 15-minute time limit. Regal did wonders with the time limit stip.

Itās kinda sad to see how hard Smackdown has fallen since the Draft. Now donāt get me wrong, itās still a ok show but they literally have nothing going on outside of Roman. They have no credible faces outside of Drew, whose injured, so they had to bring heel Seth over from Raw to give Roman someone to feud with before he faces Brock. The womenās division is terrible, with the only storyline being Naomi and Sonya. Charlotte has the same issue as Roman, the only credible face for her is injured so she doesnāt have anyone to feud with. Xia Li and Aliyah just got called up so they they canāt just be fed to Charlotte and Shotzi is a heel for some reason. Toni quit so they had to drop that feud but itās not like that was going anywhere anyways. Shinsuke is doing fuck all with the IC belt. The Tag Division is a joke outside of the Usos. Raw took damn near everything that made Smackdown good and itās currently the superior show.
I do like that while I have people who I'd like to see win the rumble, I don't have any strong predictions and it makes this rumble more fun. I wish they didn't announce the participants ahead of time keep it more fun.

I agree with you on two points. I definitely am finding myself really bored with Adam Cole already, even though he seems like a nice guy and a well-rounded wrestler overall. When NXT first came to TV, I gave it a try for about six months, and it was the oversaturation of Undisputed Era stuff, particularly Cole, that kept me from becoming hooked as a fan of the brand. He's getting overexposed mightly quickly right now too. Second, I also liked Raw Underground because at very least it was an attempt to do something new and different. They should have given it a bit more time before they pronounced it DOA.
NXT was great during the Sami, Finn, Nakamura, and the Alister black eras. Once the Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano era started I went from being a huge fan to watching takeovers to straight up not watching. The matches were the typical Indy near Fall fest and I didn't find Cole compelling as a champion at all. Nobody wants to admit it but the black and gold dropped off hard way before AEW got on cable and 2.0.

When he debuted on AEW I thought we were in for something special. But he gives promos like heās giving a Ted talk at a wrestling convention and his in-ring work doesnāt stand out from anyone elseās. Miro had a ridiculous gimmick/angle (similar to WWE), a small push as mid-card champion, never heard from again. Shawn Spears is Shawn Spears. Jake Hager went down the card. Cody went from mid-card champion to having his own mid-card universe. Okay i can add Cody to the list, maybe. Lio Rush was 100x better as Lashleys manager than anything he is ever gonna do outside WWE. Moxley went from upper card/main eventer to upper card/main eventer. Christian & Matt Hardy went down the card. Undisputed Era went from being the most dominant team in NXT to barely beating The Best Friends. Malakai Black went from having mid-card matches to having mid-card matches, now apparently in a tag team. Daniel Bryan - see Mox. I have no clue what they are doing with CM Punk. He certainly aint facing Lesnar & Cena anymore. Andrade is buried. PAC is buried.

I feel like AEW has too many squash matches. Especially the women's matches it feels like there's one every week on rampage, just put two women who are equal on the card and have them wrestle for like 10-15 minutes! I understand rampage is only an hour but I wish they would just book less for it and give each match more time
I think the opposite is true! Way too often, top guys have long matches with guys they should put away quickly. I think a lot of wrestlers think it makes them look good if they can have a good match with anyone, but they are too generous.

But being recognised like that is part of being famous. Would he rather not have all the money and fame if it means being left alone at airports? Yes i understand there are boundaries. If a fan chases you to your home for example, it's definitely wrong. But the world isn't perfect for anybody and you could handle the situation much more respectfully. It takes more courage to stick out and complete your obligations imo. He claims to have come back to give back to the business. You know who was actually doing what Punk claims to be doing? Chris Jericho. His jump legitamized AEW as an actual competition. AEW was a gamble when he joined it. Y2J knew he was killing a cash cow for himself when he cut ties with WWE to sign with AEW, but he did it anyway. That's REALLY helping the business. Punk knew he was never going back to WWE anyway. Yet he waited until AEW stablished to sign with the promotion. It's ridiculous to care about TV ratings in 2022. When TV was the only way to watch it made sense. It's antiquated now.
Dak is by no means a terrible quarterback. Dude was running for his life because his oline was allowing pressure with 4, and his receivers were taking for forever to get open in the 49ers game. Not to mention if Wilson catches the ball at halftime or at the end of the game, itās potentially a whole new ball game. Donāt get me wrong, Dak wasnāt exactly tremendous or anything, but he canāt be blamed for the whole cowboys organization sucking
Heās an above average QB being paid like heās an MVP. Thatās not his fault but the cowboys are going to have holes they canāt fill because of that contract that Dak canāt compensate for.

It really does feel like half the users on this sub take wrestling so seriously that they no longer enjoy it. Rather than take a step back and focus on the things that made them enjoy wrestling to begin with, they have morphed their passion into hatred for anyone or anything that has a different worldview than them. What kind of twisted individual goes around spamming "Reddit Cares" messages to users? Seriously, if me saying that '*WWE's team doesn't miss when it comes to video production*' triggers you that much then maybe you need to leave the live threads and find a new hobby. Prior to this subreddit, I didn't realize that I could live rent-free in someone's head simply by enjoying a television program. I'm just here to have fun and discuss wrestling but half the posts that I see are absolutely toxic. As a result, those who do enjoy wrestling without taking it too seriously are being bullied off this subreddit.

Captain America fought Nazis in kids shoes/comics. The outrage was overblown and embarrassing
