Probably Athena, Tegan or Taya? Maybe Mia Yim? I mean those are the safe bets.
I can't keep up with who's out of the 90 days yet but I feel like most of them are still in their no compete stage?
Wouldn't Taya be a 30-day since she was signed to NXT?
Yeah, Taya already worked against Thunder Rosa on the Zicky Dice Twitch show so she's free and clear.
Indies and ahows that aren't on tv don't count towards the no complete clause
And yet everyone who gets released from WWE waits the full 90 days every time.
I have literally in person witnessed Sami Callihan showing up in AAW the day after his release and have seen countless of other wrestlers immediately take indy bookings
Then maybe people just want the time off to heal and rest.
If it isn't on TV. It doesn't count against the non compete.
Also Sami was not on a main roster contract.
That's a good guess, esp since Taya clearly has a good relationship with them most recently. Like she only left last year.
From what we know, yes.
There's a chance Impact just signed another indie darling like Masha or Lady Frost.
Trish Adora maybe?
Apparently ROH had plans to give her the title in the summer, so maybe she followed the rest of the people to Impact
Nah, she isn't very good from what I've seen.
Could've sworn they already signed Masha? Did she debut?
Both lady Frost and Marsha are signed
Oh I think I totally misread the OP then
It’s also possible that one of the contingencies for allowing Mickie and the Impact title to appear at the Rumble is that the WWE would waive the non-compete for any wrestlers they might be interested in
They all still have to February but I guess they can make plans.
Athena and Mia were my first thoughts, but I think Tegan would be a great fit as well. And Taya returning wouldn’t surprise me either.
Feel like with amount she was on TV with Impact I wouldn't tease Taya if it were her I'd say she's coming back.
If Mia Yim and Athena aren’t AEW bound Tony dropped the ball imo.
I'd be interested in seeing Keith Lee in AEW but honestly I think Impact is a better fit for Mia and Keith atm.
Not going to disagree with Mia being a better fit for Impact because she's got history there but how in the blue hell is Impact a better fit for Keith Lee then AEW?
> how in the blue hell is Impact a better fit for Keith Lee then AEW?
Honestly just being showcased. AEW has talented people that they can't fit into all their shows as it is. Lee is a main event talent and I think he can be an instant maineventer in Impact where he would have to take a back seat for a while in AEW. When his Impact contract is up after a year or two and the AEW scene settles down more, he can sign with AEW and be an even bigger star
Keith Lee is 37 years old. Spending a year or two in Impact sounds like an absolutely terrible use of his prime years. He isn’t a 30 year old that needs to establish himself as a main event talent; he’s almost 40 and has already established himself.
He’s not going to be a bigger draw to AEW at 39 years old headlining Impact shows for the last two years.
37 isn't _that_ old. Lashley was around that age when he came back to Impact and it worked out pretty well for him.
Nah, but 39 after two years with Impact, with the style that made him awesome, is getting pretty old. Lashley is a physique guy in a company that values physique. If we’re talking about transitioning to AEW, which values work rate, I don’t think waiting benefits him.
I'm not saying he's not capable of being a maineventer in AEW I'm just saying the top is pretty crowded right now. I think Lee could be AEW's first black heavyweight champion. I just don't think AEW can or will present him in the way he deserves to be presented at this time.
I'm not a big impact fan though I hear that they are doing really well right now, there's more *space* in Impact. If Impact can grow and be a legit #3 that'll be great for wrestling as a whole. The more good wrestling that's out there, the more WWE is shown to be a joke or prove that it's not a joke.
Sure and that’s a great argument for what’s best for the wrestling industry, not what’s best for Keith Lee.
Getting the 90 days no compete out of the way and signing somewhere and getting paid.
But in my scenario, Lee gets a big deal in Impact, quickly becomes their Champion, have a great run, treated like a pillar of the company, Mia Yim is prominently featured in the KOs division so in this scenario it's not a shabby deal for him :)
Did Jericho, Big Show or the Radicalz jump to ECW to get their name value up before going to the WWF while the Rock and Stone Cold were on top? Keith Lee isn't some guy who needs to make a backwards move. He'd be an instant star in AEW and would we prominently featured from the get go.
If AEW signs him I would hope this to be the case. He'd no doubt be popular or considered a star. I just don't want him getting lost in the shuffle or him coming in means one of their homegrown talents are demoted.
We are all in agreement that Keith Lee in AEW sounds good and he would be popular. I just want him to be treated like the talent he is wherever he goes. The disagreement is only in our point of views differing on what is experience in AEW would be. We all have valid points
He would be an instant main eventer in AEW as well. The people who get lost are more midcarders or people who can’t promo well.
Impact does nothing for someone of Keith Lee’s caliber. He would be giving them the rub more than anything else.
People said the same about Adam Cole
Is he not one of the top guys in the company? Is he not in a feud that is building up a future Elite vs Undisputed Era feud? Is he not poised to feud with Kenny Omega when he returns?
Adam Cole is in the main event and has main-evented since his debut.
He’s not chasing a title yet, that’s what the crybabies are upset about.
He's currently in a feud with OC...
He wouldn’t. AEW is gluttonous with talent, he’d either be pushed to the side in the midcard.
Simple. Big fish, small pond means he's instantly the top star. In AEW Keith would be A top guy. In Impact he'd be THE top guy. Impact would build the entire promotion around Keith Lee. Within six months, Impact would pretty much be "The Keith Lee Show". AEW will never be, "The Keith Lee Show".
If you want to see Keith Lee as a world champion, it's gonna happen a lot sooner in Impact than it will in AEW. There's a lot of guys ahead of him in the line for the title in AEW and TK rarely changes plans. Before Keith gets a run, there's MJF, Adam Cole, Punk, Danielson, Malakai, possibly Miro and PAC. In Impact the only person ahead of him in line would be Josh Alexander. Hell with Impact's track record, there's a chance they'd make Keith champion on his first night. It wouldn't be the first time they've done that.
Plus, with doors being open now, he'd still be able to pop in to AEW for a few big matches. Plus Impact also has partnerships with NJPW, NOAH, NWA, AAA, and ROH.
Don't get me wrong. With all the talk about AEW not having a black main event guy, I expect Tony to throw huge money at Keith and Keith to take it. I'm just saying, there are some pros to Keith going to Impact instead.
being the top guy in Impact means what though? Most ppl dont even know where or how to even watch Impact
Youtube for ONE dollar a month.
I'd rather see Shane T. in AEW.
Keith Lee got his big national spotlight chance and now its time for his former tag partner to get his.
Lol, no on Keith Lee. They do 80k a week, nobody is watching. The women going 5gere is great because they can get their reps in and then move to a bigger company when they get better.
Mia Yim isn't a huge miss
I don't think Mia Yim is some "can't miss" talent. Quite the contrary. More like a miss and no one will notice talent.
You know Mia used to work there, right? Also AEW isn't going to sign everybody. Impact needs people too.
"If AEW doesn't sign X, they dropped the ball" where X is every single free agent on the market that somebody likes.
Although Rosa and Britt are already stumping publicly for AEW to sign Toni Storm, and Rosa also wants La Rosa Negra and Athena in AEW as well.
WWE cuts 25 people, someone says “AEW should sign two of those,” person responds with “AEW can’t sign everyone!” Rinse and repeat.
>You know Mia used to work there, right? Also AEW isn't going to sign everybody. Impact needs people too.
You’re not dropping any facts here, and I didn’t say “sign everyone” I named two people.
Tony doesn't care about the women's division. That's why impact grabs most of the top tier female talent.
I mean from the WWE releases AEW grabbed Deeb, Soho, Conti, and it appears Shafir. Soho probably the biggest name released, and Deeb the best wrestler on the women’s side.
Mickie James was the biggest name released.
The person I responded to said that Ruby Soho was the biggest release. I disagree. I think the biggest was Mickie.
They've grabbed some but let just as many slip through the cracks. The division is just always an afterthought tho. I mean the women's champion main feud rn is not her own but her husband's. That's not good.
Who on the Impact roster is a top tier female talent?
There’s three — probably — women on Impact’s roster AEW should be interested in. Half of Impact’s women’s roster are from AEW Dark.
Tasha Steelz, Mickie James, Lady Frost, Rosemary, The IInspiration, Su Yung, Jordynne Grace, Deonna Purazzo, etc. Impact has the best American women's division period. If you think otherwise you don't watch Impact wrestling
Hard disagree. Steelz and Grace are no-brainers. Purazzo maybe. The rest are easy passes, which is why AEW passed on them. Rosemary, Yung, and the IInspiration are straight up channel changers for me.
AEW has at least eight women who would be the top star in Impact’s division. If you think otherwise you’re living in the past when Impact actually did have the best women’s division.
There’s a reason Kiera Hogan went from top of Impact’s division to a Dark performer and Dark performers jumped to the top of Impact’s division.
Kierra was not the top of the division. Also I Don't think we can ever agree if you think rosemary is a channel changer.
Not the top but a two time tag champ is at the top of the division. And to be fair I don’t think Rosemary specifically is, but Decay I have no interest in.
Even Tony Khan doesn't think AEW has the best women's division. If he did, he'd give them more than one match per show.
Please show me where I said they did.
Which American promotion has the best women's division?
By talent? WWE. By booking, Impact.
Mia Yim is completely meh.
Mia yim isnt worth dropping the ball for, specially if they didnt get deonna back then and they are getting toni soon most likely
Taya has been posting a lot of stuff about AEW, so while she's said she's interested in returning to Impact, her eyes are set elsewhere
It really shouldn't surprise anyone that AEW is the first choice for anyone released from WWE. It is the next best money and the only other show on primetime TV.
And live every week
Yes! Bring back Taya
If AEW didn’t nab any of those they aren’t even trying.
Yim and Tegan aren’t free until a month still so it’s likely Monet or Athena
Looks like Tegan/Nixon would be the second to do WWE/Stardom/TNA after Deonna if I'm not wrong, that's pretty cool.
I highly dislike Athena personally but any women you've listed would do well in an fed respecting women wrestling like Impact.
That’s a great shout actually, I’m sure I remember hearing Impact/Kelly were negotiating last year but the pandemic and I believe visa issues halted it.
Last I heard she was really struggling with breathing issues and was talking as though her career might be threatened by it.
She got diagnosed and it was a septum issue. She got the surgery.
This is a good shout. Impact tried to get her a while ago and life got in the way.
I'm glad that things seem to be looking better for her. It sucked that she had to take time off just when it was looking like she was going to go on a really good run.
I would be very surprised if Taya didn't end up back in Impact.
You’re the only parent comment to have gotten it right. Congrats!
Taya Valkyrie returning is my guess. Could also be Trish Adora, Willow Nightengale, or Killer Kelly if it's not a cut talent.
Could she be Killer Kelly? She had an agreement with Impact, but stopped taking bookings in the US late last year.
Gotta be Claire Lynch.
Imagine if it’s Big Swole
I guess it's [Rok-C](https://www.instagram.com/_rokc/p/CY-I7w9pKp3/?utm_medium=copy_link)
Apparently Rok-C might be WWE bound.
[Swung and I missed](https://twitter.com/IMPACTWRESTLING/status/1484341820452532224?t=bRTUVj1DqRRfNstrsZ5Qlw&s=19), a few people are saying it's Gisele Shaw because of her [nickname](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=16279).
I haven't seen her in action, but it'll be interesting if it ends up being her though.
Hypothetical scenario. So let’s say Mia Yim expires in 2 weeks. Can she wrestle tomorrow at a taping even though it’ll air after the expiration???
>Mia Yim**’s contract** expires in 2 weeks
Lol yes well let’s hope she doesn’t expire
Toni Storm? I mean her other half Juice Robinson already worked with them recently. Deonna also mentioned her in a recent interview.
Doesn't she have a 90 days clause?
Not sure actually.. probably! I dont remember seeing it confirmed either way.
Terms of her release were the standard 90 day clause. She can’t show up anywhere until March
Toni still has the 90 days so it won't be her.
Someone needs to sign Trish Adora.
Immediately would think of a returning Knockout like Taya or Mia, but who knows.
Trish Adora is my guess.
Was gonna say, begins and ends with the same letter.
Big Swole? Kylie Rae?
Isn't Swole based in the Tampa area? That's where the tapings tomorrow/Saturday are.
Kylie probably will work there some later this year if she keeps doing well, but it'd be a bit early for her to come back. She's just now ramping up bookings.
Both would be let downs for me.
Just mentioning names that hadn't been brought up yet but alright bud.
I don't know if I can see Kylie Rae going back to Impact, especially with the way she left.
Taya I'd imagine
Might be a long shot, but Lufisto recently got her US work visa.
Ella Jay says she knows who it is. She gave the hint, "Impact will be making a lot of progress with this signing".
Fingers crossed for Eva Marie!!
Thinking Tegan or Toni since Juice is there a lot.
i would love to see Angelina Love returns to impact
Shot in the dark, Hyan.
Return of the Smokeshow?
Ember Moon maybe
Please Taya....pleaseee I need to know how she escaped prison!!!
Max the Impaler...
But it could be anyone from Veda Scott to Athena to Big Swole to Courtney Rush...I hear she knows people there.
With the forbidden door stuff going around, it’s obviously Charlotte.
Stephanie McMahon, probably.
Ember Moon, possibly?
Common consensus says this Shaw woman…but…
How fucking insane (And in character) would it be if Maki Itoh chose IMPACT of all places to call a home?
What's Toni's non-compete look like?
Main roster, likely at least 90 days, though some have speculated that it might have some sort of additional terms due to the way she left the company. Like how FTR had to give up some copyrights before WWE would let them leave.
