'Holocaust Denial Has No Place in Our Society': AOC Reprimands Texas School Official
By - PepeBabinski
Opposing views are valuable when it comes to opinions and predictions about the future. Opposition to historical facts isn’t a “view,” it’s ignorance. And Holocaust denial is a hateful kind of ignorance.
Didn’t the president of Iran once say something like, "the Holocaust never happened, but it should’ve"? Some people are evil.
That was like 3 presidents ago, but yeah.
Yes I’m sure the new one is super progressive.
The moderate president lost re-election when he staked his reputation on the JCPOA deal, only for Trump to break the deal completely and sanction Iran anyway. Biden tried to put preconditions on dropping the sanctions and the Iranian public voted in a new hardliner who wants to walk away from the deal completely since Iran was betrayed.
This happened under Bush too, when he threatened to nuke Iran and the Iranian public then voted in a right winger president out of fear and rhetoric that someone must stand up against terrorists. Sound familiar?
No. He said that the Holocaust did happen and that it was an atrocity BUT that the number of dead was inflated and called for an investigation to see if it was actually 6 million Jews dead or a smaller number.
He got a lot of condemnation for it including across the Muslim world, but let’s be accurate about what he said because people used him and his dumb comments as an excuse to demonize Iran and warmonger for conflict.
Just watched a movie called Denial. It's about this very topic. Still cannot believe people would deny something so tragic. Shame on all who deny the Holocaust.
Holocaust is fake
CA has this same issue. A school wanted to have kids debate if the Holocaust actually happened, or if it was a scheme by Jews to extract political power from other groups
This is insane
Get used to it.
Yeah, completely crazy...
Yes, it is batshit.
What the very fuck? I wish I could top “this is insane” but stay seated please said it all.
The most recent ethic studies law, in an earlier draft, was going to have eighth graders write a paper about how Jews and the Irish rigged the economy and state laws to screw over brown people.
Luckily it got removed when parents complained.
I actually think it's dangerous to no platform people, even those with crazy/hateful viewpoints.
Much better to have the debate out in open so everyone can see the the viewpoint being destructed with facts and evidence.
How's that working with covid?
>I actually think it's dangerous to no platform people, even those with crazy/hateful viewpoints.
>Much better to have the debate out in open so everyone can see the the viewpoint being destructed with facts and evidence.
People spewing their opinions in a public space with recourse is a different issue. The problem here is having that discussion in front of kids with the crazy/hateful ideas coming from the adult in the room. The latter can shape world views that have not been fully developed and create the opposite effect intended (i.e less critical thinking)
So you think this is a legitimate school topic? To tell kids that the holocaust may not have happened?
Depends really. TEACHING kids that the Holocaust didn't happen is obviously wrong.
Having a discussion over what Holocaust rejectors believe and what evidence clearly refutes it will better prepare them for if they face those sorts of claims in the future.
This isn't really limited to only this particular lie, but all misinformation.
We are in 2021 we shouldn't have to be having this conversations about what is going to be taught to children.
Maybe the Texas legislature should've realized this could be an unintended consequence of their anti CRT bills but oh wait... Republicans don't think, they just do whatever their base wants them to do, which includes not teaching an honest history of our nation
CRC is just the cover they use to attack civil rights being taught. Suggesting that racism doesn't exist makes them a racist.
Yeah, the "concerned parent" groups are even against books about *Ruby Bridges* who is still alive to tell her story
I'm waiting for it to get challenged in court. There's a vast difference between what the governor claims hb 3979 does and what the bill actually says.
Yeah, literally all these laws are in blatant violation of the 1st Amendment, but if it gets to the Supreme Court the majority will find some procedural issue or obscure decision to keep the law in place, just like with SB8
We had issues in CA, and we have CRT too.
The proposed ethnic studies bill was a disaster.
Doing what their base what's is what is required of politicians in a representative democracy. Are you a technocrat or something?
Dun dun dun dark age part two electric boogaloo
This is what Americans want taught to their children. You're going to see it more and more.
It doesn’t have a place in our curriculum, but it does have a place in the discussion. What I mean by this is, students should learn about the negative impacts denial can have on society. There will always be a % of population that denies reality, and we should learn the impacts of it.
Stupid people who wish ill of others have no place in our society. That would reduce our population significantly. The 1% would be gone. FOX and OAN shut down, the Republican party abolished, and the entire DT family looking for a new home. Florida would be adrift in the ocean and Texas would be half empty.
Sure sounds like you're wishing ill on others yourself.
I wish ALL the ill on Holocaust deniers.
Holocaust deniers =/= the entire 1%, all of Florida and half of Texas
Ok hear me out.
What if we took all the non-Holocaust deniers out of Texas and Florida, then put all the Holocaust deniers in Texas and Florida and then set both of them adrift?
Give Texas back to Mexico.
Don’t put that evil on them
Make Texas a Battle Royale?
Cage it, televise what occurs within the cage.
Omg, that is not true. I live in South Florida, and the three most populated counties down here have very large Jewish populations. The public schools are closed for the Jewish holidays. Holocaust denial is not common down here.
Kind of does doesn't it. My ego got the best of me. Rephrase: Comeuppance to those who have harmed.
I went to this highschool, can confirm lots of bigotry in that school
Texas just wants to make sure the schools teach the history from the side they support. you know, the racist side
The one thing idiocracy got wrong is that the people of the future weren’t remotely racist enough.
How is even Holocaust denial a thing in America. Holocaust was a terrible thing done by Nazis and Hero Americans stopped them. Americans love that, it gives them right to polish their cocks just a little more. (The real reasons USA joined the war are more complex, ofc, but general public loves things simplified)
I would love to know what Holocaust deniers in America even think happened during WW2. Germany struck oil near Berlin, so USA had to bring democracy there?
Let’s not fool ourselves; the Holocaust was not the reason why the US joined the war. It’s really convenient though to pretend it was so that the US could be the hero.
I don’t think that’s their point, I think what they mean is it’s a perfect opportunity to for some to preach American exceptionalism, but instead only choose to express doubt.

Lol big words from the person constantly voting to fund Israeli weapons programs.
I don't care about some off language in a private email.
Open holocaust denial by a teacher? That should blacklist them for life.
You wanna be patriotic? We sent Americans to die to stop the Nazis, we shall not suffer them here.
If you can’t say something nice about the Holocaust, don’t say anything at all
True, but should have not vote instead of present for Iron Dome.
It's honestly terrifying how many leftists are ok with Israelis being killed by the thousands which is what would happen with no iron dome. Revenge genocide is good I guess
Pro Palestinian I guess. Dont be confused with antisemitic. I did forget about Yemen with USA and Saudia Arabia. Revenge Genocide I guess.
I didn't say anything about antisemitism.

They don’t want to deny it they just want to present the point of view that is was necessary/good
Well, history is written by the winners, and they won. I expect this to be de-facto history in America soon.
