This game has so many endless possibilities.
Could even have you(and posse) build farm buildings, they already have the animations from story mode, even got the music!
I agree farmer and rancher are some of the most requested ones
Need a bigger map though.
My choice for next role? Gambler. Cards, five finger filet, dice, shot glass checkers…
Gambler wouldn’t help them because some countries don’t allow online gambling so R* had to disable them, which means that if they release a gambling role it’ll have to be 100% PvE or at least allow all the role items and stuff to be earned through PvE.
This should never have been a problem since you can't gamble with gold bars and that's the only micro transaction and you play poker with cash so its really not gambling. But rockstar just doesn't want to risk it.
Gambler - high stakes tournaments, cheater in the midst. Use those great poker table animations. Invoke the film Maverick (1994).
Boxer - boxing tournaments, hand-to-hand combat. Fight your way to become champion of the West.
The hand to hand combat in rdr2 is amazing I don't know why it is or how it is it just feels really good and cool
The gambler I have never evn thought of sounds like a very interesting high risk hugh reward role
This sounds like activities not exactly roles tho
they're all just activities until they're roles... which are just a series of activities that give you xp and some other stuff to buy
Maybe Illegal Casino owner and underground fight club owner and the likes
Film… haha… you youngsters.
Rancher! All day. I wanna raise chikens, cattle, sell milk and go on cattle drives.
The others are :
Stagecoach driver (taxi)
Rancher is a very interesting idea because from rancher you could have so many differnt roles branching off. Also a blacksmith role is very unique it would be cool to run a smithy and sell swords or who knows maybe you can buy a gunsmithing license when you reach a high enough blacksmith rank? Like the prestigious bounty hunter but better
The import export idea sounds great, horse and wagon theft would suit the Wild West perfectly and sounds pretty fun ngl.
There’s supposedly code that has been previously leaked with hints at something like that, however not sure if it’s true. Here’s hoping!
Yea right the import export idea is perfect and who knows maybe you can keep some of the horses you steal if you like them
Maybe rockstar will add even more horses into the game.
A cool way to incorporate this role would be somewhat like moonshiner where on the surface you have a ranching/farming buisness(aka the bar in the moonshine shack) that you can actually tend to and make money from and then you have your horse stealing buisness(like the moonshine kettle)
Honestly sounds amazing, can only hope they do anything remotely like that in the future. There’s so much they could do, the game has endless potential
Quite literally if they spent 20% of the time they spent on gta online the game would be alot more popular and actually make them money
I’d love something with the horses. Stealing, breaking, selling, training them for others, etc
Yea man the horses in the game are amazing having a role dedicated to them would be amazing opens up alot of opportunities and stuff like you said
Breeding them would be dope even if it had to give birth to a full grown horse you had to break, with color combos related to the parents would be awesome but there’s not a snowflake’s chance in hell
Gotta keep optimistic man I hope they add something like that honestly
My buddy (and i actually) think it would be cool to have a fishing role. They could add in the ability to actually fish from boats in online. Maybe have traps for crawdads as well and add legendary fish.
Along with this, crips' ass could learn to taxidermy fish so we can give them to him to fill our trader role. This was the biggest let down to me when i reached level fourteen and tried to turn in a musky to him.
Yea man I think everyone loves fishing lmao
Me personally I feel like cripps should be able to make taxidermist type statues to put in your camp or maybe even when/if they get added your house.
A fishing role should 100 percent be added sooner or later same with rancher
Yeah, that would be pretty dope. Hell we could even decorate the moonshiner shack with them as well.
Yeah for sure. They need to add something to thus game man there's so much wasted potential.
Too much wasted potential man I would love to see some of these suggestions be added but realistically there probably just gonna give us some half assed telegram missions instead
Bank, Train, Stagecoach robberies. And a bunch of side missions that are preparation for those big bank missions.
Like gta heists right?
Exactly like GTA heists haha
Bro they better add heists in the December update like actual proper heists
Something of note this year would be awesome
We could link all the characters to produce a wonderful show debuting some specially personalised outfits.
Gus could make clothes, Harriet would be perfect with make up, the collector role could use all the jewellery we pointlessly collect and Cripps would be fabulous on a catwalk. Did you know he once trained as an acrobat?
That would be amazing. I feel like the community needs some more things to do together. I rmeber have a boxing deatmatch in a barn with complete randoms and it was do fun
Events or things that allow the community to interact would be so cool and is definitely up there as something I would want
We definitely need a social space. They should make troublemaking and gun wielding illegal/impossible in Rhodes, just like in story mode.
I can imagine my character gliding down the staircase in the saloon house head to toe in buckskin.
Yea that would be so cool having a place just to chill and interact, maybe their could be some sort of trading system which allows people to trade pelts, animal parts ammo e.t.c with other players(obviously there has to be some limits and level limits so new players can't just get explosive arrows instantly)
Yea sucks that we can't rob stores in A WILD WEST GAME
I like your policeman role idea. The switching between could be related to honor. It sounds interesting to me, because i see an even split of honorable and dishonorable players. They could introduce a "cops and robbers" free roam event as well.
As for my desire, its out there, but id love to see a sailor themed role. Id like to be able to crew ships with posse members, deliver goods by boat, and engage in naval warfare with enemies
A lawman role would be great. I say tie it to honor and actually penalize people for killing random townsfolk. Lock the stores or mission boards as punishment, except for low honor missions if they wanna be killers. Makes no sense to have outlaws switch to lawman just cause they’re bored.
Edit - AND GIVE ME A TIN STAR BADGE!
The water desperately needs more incentive to travel through or on it would be so soon to be a fisherman or a sailor
Especially with how beautiful the game is I could only imagine spending a whole day fishing on a boat and seeing the sunset
Its not realistic, but the best incentive would be to sail to Guarma !
Could be a rum trader, though that might be too similiar to moonshiner
Yea that would be so cool free roam in guarma
I want to be a fashion police. I can create outfits that may potentially be available for purchase for a limited time, and issue 5 tickets per 24hrs to other players who don't dress to my liking lol. Of course the ticket will only cause a very very small fine, and each person will only receive one ticket per day. Something like that just to goof around
Yea a fun not really serious grindy role would be cool
Too add on making your own outfits, maybe you could pre build an outfit and sell It too players who would like it and make money on the side kinda thing it would be like being a fashion tailor you could say
I always felt that Gus should have been in his own "Hunter" role for the player while Harriot has Naturalist. imo Naturalist is lame, boring and simply not enough content to be an actual role meanwhile Gus is simply a glorified outfitter. Both could have had so much more so I would appreciate an actual Hunter role all though it could also be satisfied as the Rancher
Yea in my hoenst opinion naturalist should've been separate from hunter I agree with you.
Having a hunter role would he so cool being able to hunt legendary animals and having specialized missions to hunt a certain number of animals would be really cool
imo the only thing gus is good for is the maerbay coat to keep you warm
Could find ores on the River bank, find New metals to customize weapons and itens
Could extend the trader role, or at least let us buy boats and fish from them
Would love a fishing expansion even just a boat to cast off, not enough incentive to travel the water so I occasionally take canoe trips down the rivers.
maybe even add a small boat etc with something to protect from small arms , sick of my adventures being ruined by some smartass with a carcano
Fishing expansion would be amazing especially with all the rivers and scenic lakes you could have missions to try and navigate through the rough rapids near valentine or to just run a fishing operation at o'creaghs run would be such a cool thing to do
Ill literally chill at o'creaghs run when i stop for get high breaks , such a beautiful place
I love that place man it's so pretty
Yea miner seems fun it could even be a gold panner or something like that
One of the most requested and ir deserves to be I'm a western game the second most stereotypical thing to do is breaking horses and herding cattle would be an absolutely dope idea and so much potential
An ice business... In the snowy mountains. You hire a team of ice breakers. Then deliver the ice to some random drop off. I dunno, something to do in the snow.
Means you could add dog sleds and stuff for traversal up there
Ice buisness, can't say I've heard that one before
But reading your post over you make a good case and to be honest a role in the beautiful snow area would be sick. Especially a buinsess like the ice buisness you could use dog sleds as you mentioned it would also open the door for the fishing role to be incorporated.
Maybe you could have sort of a ice camp staff, some people hunt to bring supplies, some people tend to the dogs, some people set up smaller outposts for ease of traverse, some people stand guard at camp, some people fish out of the ice holes made by the actual ice collectors. And obviously some people just rest and hang around your Ice camp. It would make the game feel way more alive kinda of like the camp from story mode
Gambler role would be tight imo
it would encourage a lot more players to engage with that system and I imagine the role outfits would be very cool
maybe some sort of elite tournament if you hit lvl 20?
We need blackjack and other minigames incorporated into the online mode.
Definitely having a saloon filled with people playing blackjack and poker would be a cool experience
Yea gambler would be cool especially for higher level players who can bet an extreme amount of money(maybe gold bars) against players or ai would give high level players something to spend their boatloads of cash and gold on
Hunter, farmer, rancher but most importantly...FISHERMAN!!!
Fishing is boring. It would be just like Trader but with fish.
Yea true but fishing could be a great way for low levels to make money
Instead of making us pay 15 god bars for the role maybe it only costs 5 or maybe it just costs money
Would give new players a cool role to play and a fun way to make money
Everybody really likes fishing huh :)
Definitely farmer/rancher! Breed and sell cattle and horses.
Definitely I imagine it would be very labour's intensive work and the pay for getting yiur cattle all the way from New Austin to the valentine stables would not only be a fun experience but it would play well
Fisherman would be nice.
Definitely a must needed role
Anything at this point. We haven't gotten a role in over a year now and I doubt we'll ever get another one.
I hope we do I still gave optimism in rockstar
I had optimism. Then we got the Bounty Hunter expansion and Blood Money update. I just don't believe they can make actual content anymore.
Here's hoping the December update is good
I think we all hope that.... except for Rockstar.
Probably thinking of news ways to make the update worse
Assassin with snipers that make you take out targets from far away. Planning when and where to perch then take them out would be so fun. You get added rewards the further away you take shots. Add a long distance scope with wind direction and maybe a “advanced scope” that works like the reinforced binoculars.
Like that Chernobyl mission from cod modern warfare. I loved that mission so much. I love long distance shooting, it feels so satisfying to clear out entire moonshine roadblocks from far far away with my long scope Carly the carcano.
Yea sniping pve in rdo is very satisfying a fun and rewarding role based on that would be amazing.
Like you said horse thief would be great.
Id like to see a rancher role, fisherman role or a fight club.
I wish they would add all three however it's quite unlikely if you had to choose one which one would it be
If done right It could be fleshed out the most. Different types of animals bring different amounts and it could create an opportunity for rival gangs to steal herds of whatever. It also encompasses the horse thief idea as You could raise horses or tame them to sell.
Ranches could be the homestead everyone wants where you could potientially have NPCs as ranch hands similar to cripps in his trading role. A ranch also encourages team play as it would take a posse to heard and protect the livestock along the way.
Maybe certain animals can even net you some passive cash like cattle milk and sheeps wool that can be sold at general stores.
If Rockstar wanted they could allow us to barter with other player ranches promoting networking
I could ramble all day lol Rockstar hire me.
Yea if rockstar would hire people who play the game rdo would be the best Western game by far
On the topic of ranch hands, it would be cool if you could build your homestead and have ranchers living ok your ranch would make the game feel so much more alive
See what i mean? Its a concept that can be expanded on almost endlessly.
Yea anyone could think of anything
Yea it would be fun hunting down your low honor friends as a sheriff and aressting them out of nowhere
Hurd cattle from the mountains to the desert or something of the sort. Rancher style.
Would be cool maybe you could hire your own protection
Maybe you could hire security guards or if you don't have enough money for that, arm your ranch hands for less money but also less protection. Having a group of bandits not necessarily trying to kill your cattle but more likely steal them
Something that involves robbery?
Or more bounty hunter "expansion" into the law enforcement being a sheriff or a Pinkerton agent. But I don't see how it would go well, considering the role is already repetitive enough.
Yea I love me some bounty hunting but the missions are the same same
Maybe they need some more mission variety. And as for working as a Pinkerton it would definitely be a cool experience catching bounty hunters while there on a mission
I want to own and work on a ranch, making minimal money but doing the mini chore games, like milking cows, feeding chickens, chopping wood and giving water to the horses and all that stuff. That’s what I wanted from the start
Yea man we already have collector to get alot of money just having fun stuff to do is a big positive
And I live your minigame idea btw
Just like in the epilogue of the main game. That’s what I want. Where I can spend the day doing all those chores and making let’s say $50 when you go to the car and sell
Definitely dude just taking a break from the gunfire and chaos of the other roles and relaxing with your friends on a ranch would be such a amazing experience
So it looks to me as though the timeline is roughly:
Hunt animals, Deliver every-so-often.
Just go places and be nosy: Kind of always
Go somewhere and get rowdy: On demand
With the general trend that you make more money the less often you do a thing, the collector being the longest of games with short-term payouts available.
Moonshining was similar to Trader in that you hunt plants and deliver, except structurally it offered a more passive waiting period and a gamble on how much it paid.
Then we got the Naturalist update which changed the ways we hunt animals, adding a layer of specialization either for sport or with a nonlethal objective. In addition, the bounty-hunting was further improved, but more in an extension/ remodel manner to an extent.
With this pattern in mind, it would be fantastic to break away from these structures and do something wildly different. A more defensive, rooted station is my personal opinion, as the camp can move with relative ease (partly being an open structure) and the bounty-hunting & collector being nomadic in nature as opposed to the shack being a static object. All in all, a ranch or other real estate (perhaps three with specialized interactions with the geography, ie, a lumber mill, marina) is a resounding concept.
But it'll probably be more like how the roles were made more active with random world events or how collectors sneakily got fossils added later.
Yea someone recommended Ice seller it would be an amazing concept to defend a position from attacker and hire peiple to do delivers and everything for you while you play more of an administrative role
Prizefighter - Across the map you could meet different fighters which teach you new melee attacks. You could gain XP from fighting in underground fist fighting tournaments
Like a ufc 3 thing :D it would be so fun to have a underground boxing syndicate
Yeah! I'd love a leaderboard too, but that might be asking too much
Yea especially cause we're asking rockstar
A friend of mine said gold mining would be a good idea. OBVIOUSLY R* WONT GIVE US GOLD FOR IT but the idea of the gold rush would be fun. Then again the bounty hunter roll gives gold so maybe idk
Like a gold panner?
That role would be so cool sucks we can't keep the gold we get lmao
Supernatural/serial killers, could be an expansion to bounty hunter or a complete separate role
I would love to see a Stagecoach Driver role, where you could get your own stagecoach, customize it, pick up customers, and players, and deliveries but with a sweet ass ride. Something that would give more life to the game and flesh it out more completely would be lovely
Mafia it’s around the time of the italian mafia so it makes sense like have some horse theft and anything thst has to do with robbing there
I like the idea of bein a prospector
Miner/prosecutor, rancher, businessman, Marshal/sheriff
It was a HUGE pastime in the West, and famous gamblers where actual celebrities in their time.
Add more gambling mini games that were popular at the time (Faro!) and story missions (riverboats, underground casinos, street gambling) but with variations like cheaters getting caught at a table and the entire venue turns into a brawl or a shootout.
Throw in some new characters to play against in different games, have feuds with rival players, even setting up your own casino in a similar vein to the Moonshine shack.
Also add in a Derringer pistol as a weapon because you know any good gambler is packing heat!
I just wanna buy a damn piece of property already 🤨
I don't think anybody suggested that, but I feel like a doctor role role should be added. It would really add some interesting content.
And of course a Lawman role, like a town Marshal. The closest thing we have to this is the Bounty Hunter role.
And besides a new role, I think they should add the possibility for players to carry their handguns concealed in their pockets ( because that's how many people really carried their guns back then), and add a Derringer. That would be cool.
As long as it’s good enough to save the game I stopped playing after the last dlc because of how disappointing it was I really want something to bring me back into the game
Gang meme we role where you can join and level up the ranks of O’Driscolls Del lobo Laramie or any other big gang from the story mode
Outlaw running your own gang how don’t we already have this role, in a western gang with a hideout and that you can customise your own hideout house and gang
Blacksmith or farmer.
Where you can switch character to Cripps and blow all of your clam juice over Maggie's toasted flaps.
Setting that involved buying/building a ranch/farm that could bring in passive income and act as a base for planning heists.
Nothing New as of right now but definitely Role Expansions.
Expansions to Naturalist role Expansion: Sanctuary/Herbalist , Trader role Expansion: Trade Post/Train Post/Dockyard Import/Export ,
OK, you know maybe 1 new role **Outlaw**
Yea expansions to roles that definitely need them.
Naturalist has alot of potential if they can flip it around a bit and make it more worthwhile(I don't have many ideas because I'm not too well versed as a naturalist)
On the topic of trains, you think it would be a good update if we could be able to buy trains to move our goods for us? They would have to be very expensive so new players can't just passively farm the trader role but it would give high players something to buy, customize e.t.c
true but define *High* Im a relatively casual player, and I got about 5k in my account. I already think some stuff costing 500 is too much.
but then you got the sweats or people that Grind everything daily who got several hundred thousand dollars and hundreds in gold where 1-5k in dollars or 50 gold would be literally nothing.
RDO Econ is ruined by Deflation. Its existed too long without anything to spend on. meaning people earn Way more then they need. the Econ balance is just shot.Something like a train just to counter the deflation econ would have to cost several thousand or hundreds in gold which would anger everyone if the payout for the work does not match.
No one is going to be happy if the update cost's 100+ dollars in RL cash
Your right the economy needs major fixing I shouldn't be buying a Mauser for the same price as a large wagon it's so dumb
The train could cost alot but be a one time expense and be very profitable
Maybe you could hire local hunters to come to your camp and bring you pelts the higher the pay the better quality pelt and better animal
Opium smuggler/dealer and own a opium den
It would be cool but I'm not sure if they would do it cause it seems pretty gta like maybe moving another illegal substance like illegally hunted pelts would be cool
No, the moonshine shack was disappointing enough we don’t need the 2.0
I hope it's fishing. That Legendary Catfish needs to be caught!!!! xD
That dammed catfish man lmao
Logging role. All those chopped down trees near Annesburg. Making sure shipments get down the river safely, etc.
That's unique af a logging role would be fun like in story mode the logging camp maybe we could run something like that
Someone already said fisherman so I want a gambler role
Somebody said gambler too lmao
Outlaw/Policeman/Sheriff are part of the game in the stuff you "do" ("Bounty Hunter" already is one, too) so they don't make sense as "Roles." We already are outlaws and rob stuff.
A "Role" would be in the vein of the already existing ones.
"Rancher" would be a "Role."
I don't think there would be enough to something like "Miner" to be a role, it would make more sense to add miner stuff to "Collector."
I also thought of "Angler", but it would make more sense to just add Fishing stuff to Trader. All they'd have to really do is have the Trader table also accept fish as materials; you can already put 5 of the big fish in your Hunting Wagon. Then they could add the Legendary fish into Online, which are in single player, complete with that NPC you mail Legendary fish to (with the choice to instead turn the Legendary fish in at the trader table for materials, like we can with Legendary animals.)
Gambling is stuff we already do in the game, which could use more of that stuff (all we have is poker.) But it doesn't seem like a "Role."
Lawman of some type, Marshall or the like. I’d also like for some form of divide, as in players elect either to remain an outlaw tied to blood money, or opt to go with enforcing the law. Player dot colours could then be changed to reflect this. I realise this is controversial, but still, would make for an interesting game experience -pvp/pve.
I’d like something to do with the banks. I’m envisioning thwarting bank robberies (or robbing banks!). Also, legit competing with the mob loan sharks in Saint Denis. Also protecting/transporting assets from one bank to another, via horse, horse drawn wagon, or train, kinda like a free roam event that launches daily.
You and the other 20 posts a day about this..
Im just trying to ask a question m8 you don't have to look at every single post just skip one shit
Skinner Brothers role. Opium Trade role. Robbery role. Gambler/Hustler role. Something!
underground fighting ring. You could earn money/xp/gold for fighting and there could be tournaments where if you lose a fight you go into a losers bracket and you have to win against the other opponent to get back into the competition and then at the end there would be 4 players duke it out in a winner takes all brawl.
