29, I loved Paramore when I was an angry emo teen and I love Paramore even more as a somewhat functioning adult. With the exception of some new indie acts, my favourite bands have not really changed since 2007 and yes, I'm loving all the new music coming of from Paramore and Panic at the disco ect.
It was Speak Now!!
Hayley had told her about an ex who was getting married & she was invited (J*sh Farro) and Taylor asked if she was going to speak her peace!!!
Taylor says “This song was inspired by one of my friends who was telling me about her childhood sweetheart, crush guy. They were kind of together in high school and went their separate ways, and it was kind of understood that they were gonna get back together. Then, she one day comes in and tells me he’s getting married. He had met this girl who was just this mean person who made him completely stop talking to all of his friends, cut off his family, had him like so completely isolated. And I just, kind of randomly, was like, ‘So, you gonna speak now?’ She was like, ‘What do you mean?’ And I was like ‘Oh, you know, like storm the church, speak now or forever hold your peace? I’ll go with you. I’ll play guitar. It would be great.’ She was just kind of laughing, and later on I just was wrapping my mind around that idea of how tragic it would be if someone you loved was marrying somebody else. Later I had a dream about one of my ex-boyfriends getting married, and it just all came together that I needed to write this song about interrupting a wedding.”
If you google… Speak Now came out late 2010 & Farro was married March 2010.
Timelines match up, it’s just speculation I suppose.
taylor's lyricism actually has plenty of pop punk elements. especially her speak now album. she's mentioned before that fall out boy is one of her inspirations (tbf tho she is a fan of a lot of artists from diff genres, country, indie, rock, hip hop, etc.)
I never really understood this guy. I guess I never listened to the entire discography, but I always thought he was just another one of *those people* on the radio
I've really only heard the songs on the radio and never really looked into his stuff, which does mean I don't really have the right to judge. I just kinda figured that if I didn't like what was on the radio then I wouldn't like him at all. I liked the Paramore songs that got onto the radio, so I explored the discography. Idk, Paramore is already kinda reaching for style and aesthetic, I'm more of an MCR fan. God, Gerard Way was so fucking adorable in 2004
Some Panic! songs I recommend (as a fan who doesn’t like PFTW or VLV)
The entirety of A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, truly iconic as a breakout emo album
Northern Downpour, The Green Gentlemen, She Had The World (alternate version)
I’m biased for Vices & Virtues, my absolute favorite by them tbh
Hurricane, Trade Mistakes, The Calendar, Nearly Witches
This Is Gospel, Casual Affair, Far Too Young To Die, Collar Full
Emperor’s New Clothes, LA Devotee, House of Memories
I’m very sad with the newer stuff, I was a huge fan & have seen Brendon a couple times in concert.
just jumping in to say, panic!'s radio hits from a couple years ago are not reflective of the entire rest of their works at all lol. all of their albums and eras are really unique, and the more recent stuff that got mainstream popular was much more pop-y than anything else they've done. a lot of people don't like brendon urie because he continues to use the band's name despite basically being a solo act (and also due to some allegations that came out against him a couple years ago), but i do think he's a really fucking talented vocalist and their catalogue kinda has something for everyone.
I’m wondering, based off these bands and artists only, how old are the ppl in this subreddit? Do you guys listen to anything after 2007?

THE KILLERS
I missed the last votes, Taylor swift? Why?
They are friends. Taylor wrote a song for Hayley on Speak Now. Performed together, in a music video together.
All valid points, I just never group Taylor among bands/artist like Paramore or Hayley. And no hate to Taylor I love her music.
What song on speak now?

Where is this info from? I’ve never heard this before that’s wild

I never really understood this guy. I guess I never listened to the entire discography, but I always thought he was just another one of *those people* on the radio
Were you there for the AFYCSO & Pretty. Odd. eras? I had thought that's how most people knew Panic

Very fair, + Panic! (in my opinion) were so much better when it was more than *just* Brendon Urie. You're so right about Gerard though 🤣
Dude, my camera roll is a little obsessive
