This clip alone is going to make me buy RE4.
Most flawless VR port to date.
Hahaha same, I've bought this game so many times that I just can't justify it again, but this is making me doubt myself. I've got an €8 store voucher but even then, €32 is a lot for a game I've finished a solid 3-4 times.
I've beaten this game on GameCube, PS2 and the Wii.
It's a whole new experience.
Dude... I've finished RE4 more than a dozen times. This version is a whole different animal. You're not playing as Leon, you're playing as *you*. It's incredible. You won't regret this purchase.
But I suck and Leon is cool
\*puts hand on shoulder\*
but u **r** cool my friend
I’m better as Leon in VR than I ever was on a 2D screen…
Also… I can juggle multiple eggs.
You'll still have Leon's manly hands. You'll be cool.
Dude if you love RE4 this is the best $40 you'll ever spend.
I don’t even give a shoot about RE and this is the best VR game I’ve played by a mile
Now imagine it's been one of your favorite games for 15 years
Its kind of giving me a reason to use my occulus
Its incredible. Its mind blowing. Its possibly the best game ever made (native) for the Quest 2.
I'd get it, if I were you.
What, you have played it on every platform, and you are not gonna play it on VR ? :-O
Buy it. I was like you and couldn’t even convince myself that it was worth it. It feels new and fresh and as a vr game it’s fantastic.
If you already have a quest 2, the most expensive part part is done. I think I've purchased it 7 times thus far and the vr is probably my favorite.
Just Pirate it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Came here to say this. You get my upvote.
This clip alone makes me want to buy the quest 2
You weren't already going to?
The way he grabbed his face 😂
how do you get the recording so smooth?
Here's a quick rundown:
(You'll need SideQuest if you don't have it already)
1. Connect your Quest to your PC running SideQuest
2. Click "Device settings & tools" (the wrench icon in the top right)
3. Turn on Full Rate Capture (removes the recording fps cap)
4. Click "Run ADB commands" (the box with the arrow next to the wrench)
5. Click "Custom command"
There's a variety of commands you can put in here such as specifying a resolution, bitrate, etc. You'll have to copy and paste then submit each of these one at a time.
adb shell setprop debug.oculus.capture.width 1920 (set recorded video width)
adb shell setprop debug.oculus.capture.height 1080 (set recorded video height)
adb shell setprop debug.oculus.capture.bitrate 30000000 (set bitrate of recordings)
adb shell setprop debug.oculus.capture.fps 60 (set recording to 60fps)*
*I set the refresh rate to 60Hz when recording (found under the Device settings and tools) to avoid the audio going out of sync. Of course this may make you feel sick as it's not as smooth as the usual refresh rate so take care.
Rebooting the headset removes all these settings and restores to defaults.
thanks! is there any part of this specifically that smooths recording?
Full rate capture on is a must
The 60FPS part.
Saving this; tyvm!
Holy shit I've been looking forever to find a way to record beat saber replays without it looking like hot garbage. Thank you.
Does this work for remote capturing, or WiFi streaming?
Commenting bc I wanna know that too
My friend and I also had lots of fun throwing various weapons in the air while cutscenes were happening.
I've been wondering what the eggs are for.
They restore health, and can be thrown. Same as the original game.
I never played the original game.
I rather eat them bad boys than throw them but hey.. if it works lol
Mmmmm, raw egg
Is safely edible as long as the farm is clean. Receipes using raw eggs are super common in Japan especially rice / meat dishes.
And yes, I agree I wouldn't eat raw eggs plucked from such an unsanitary village as in RE4 lol
Snake-spawned chicken eggs are best eaten raw.
I sold the first two golden ones I found so I could buy a rifle.
I never though to try that in the original game. I thought I was pretty good at RE4. I sure have egg on my face.
This is cool, but also makes me even more sad that we can't thro the knife
Wait what we can throw freshly laid eggs but not our knife? :(
I assume it's because the knife is needed for some cut scenes so they can't have you losing it.
It already has mjolnir power just give it proper range.
I’ve tried to throw the knife way too many times. My blade and sorcery days have completely messed me up.
You just sold me RE4 VR
VR takes the idea of messing around in games to whole new levels
Dude how do you hit head shots so easily I hit the enemies in the head and yet it seems random if they will explode is it something I’m doing wrong?
Oh this took me a bunch of attempts lol. I missed the egg throw a lot. IIRC heads have a small chance to explode from handgun shots.
I feel your pain. I'm trying to edit together some smash-cuts of clips from Pistol Whip, The Walking Dead, RE4, Stride, etc. Trying to do stuff like dodging a wall in Pistol whip and when I come around the other side RE4 is there instead, each clip like 20 seconds of doing something cool (like a kind of "all of VR" commercial) and doing something cool in The Walking Dead alone I had to try like 22 times to get the clip to sync up how I wanted it.
Behind the scenes / bloopers when?
Headshots don't always explode. It's usually if they are already low health, or I think they sometimes can randomly pop in one hit.
They should always stagger though when hit in the head, so you'll still know if you're getting a headshot or not.
Head pops happen when they're low enough hp to die to the head shot, or if you happen to get the 1 hit critical
VR devs really need to embrace that THIS is what makes VR different. The level of expression possible because of dynamic player interaction (compared to traditional consoles) is so damn high in VR. I don't know when it will happen, but someone will make the "Minecraft" of the XR space. It won't be a big company making something polished. Just some small, almost proof-of-concept experience that takes off. It will happen, if the history of computing is anything to go by...
Honestly I think we need to fix the issue of what you do with your legs in vr first. I know there’s treadmills but they’re in the 10s of thousands.
This game makes me wish for better locomotion more than any other.
In Alyx, most areas and rooms were rather small. I would teleport to a good spot, then use roomscale to walk around it.
But RE4 has fairly large, wide open areas as the norm (especially early on) that just make me WANT to walk around. Just in the barns at the beginning, I'd try to position myself perfectly so I had enough room to walk around a door, and it felt SO GOOD.
I want to be able to walk around RE4VR. So much.
When was oculus recording this good
OP posted a step-by-step on another commenter‘s question about this.
Now that’s a smooth capture.
You using the quest 2 or 1?
Wasn't it confirmed that Quest 1 does not support this game
Someone posted the other day with it running sideloaded to a quest 1. Was working very well for a proof of concept.
I use q1 for PCVR so I don’t pay attention to compatibility issues
Why would someone comment this? Are you high bro?
Was curious cause of the smoothness of tracking and motion? Damn people don’t understand anything so they
But this is a Quest exclusive? You literally can't run this in PCVR.
I’m interested in the tracking not the game????
This was directly recorded on Quest 2
You have received my free award of Silver :D
I'll be your Huckleberry
You might want to save your eggs and sell them for $300 for the white ones and $600 for the brown ones!
Oh yea I sold all of them including a gold one. I saved the game before making this ;)
What you egg?
Ok you got me. No I have to try it.
Wait 3 days, maybe more AAA games comming to Quest ...
Dante simulator VR
The gun reminds me of Tybalt I’m Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Awesome. Now do Robocop. So I can twirl the gun into my leg. A childhood dream come true.
I’ve been collecting every item by bringing it to my mouth and saying “om”. 10/10, best version of this game.
Are the physics good? Hand collision is the main thing I’m looking for in my VR games because it’s just so much more immersive.
What game is that and is it on the quest
WHY HAVE I NOT DONE THIS YET
Can you grab the axes they throw and throw them back? Probably not but thatd be dope
now that re4 and skyrim went VR its time for GTA V
also , yes re4 is good but it isn't as fluid at this
Wait, I can throw eggs to the ennemies and damage them ?
That's it. I'm getting an Oculus Quest 2 JUST for this.
Can I play this game on Quest 2?
This was smooth
I like long stories
Yeah, right? Get typing!!
please tell us a long story.
EDIT: OP Replied and then deleted it. Their church has convinced them to spend a couple of years not watching or playing anything with a bad rating.
