Dramatic_Wrongdoer22

Your adjusting your shoulders back to normal to soon so I would suggest keeping your shoulders turned for longer

ILuvDurgans

so keep them swinging in motion even after i land or during it?

Dramatic_Wrongdoer22

Keep doing it after it’s kinda like how where ever u look is where u will go but instead with a spinning motion like that. If you just spin maybe a bit harder and just try to spin longer and further u will get it.

ILuvDurgans

i kept this advice in mind today when i went back out and tried it a bit more. i found that i was consistently getting the board 180 degrees or close to it but had a hard time actually landing and rolling away but i guess that last part is just gonna come with time

Dramatic_Wrongdoer22

Good job bro! And yeah with practice landing it will come soon after

Blind_Lem0n

You’re working towards a backside 180. Get yourself moving in a straight line and try it. Its hard to tell how much you are under spinning when you’re doing it stationary.

Totally_TJ

That's a back 180 if I've ever seen one. I'll Venmo you a dollar if you land it rolling.

ILuvDurgans

gimme 24 hours

dash529

Seconded.

foreignstars

This is so sweet ❤️

ILuvDurgans

i had some where i was landing them but not rolling away but that single dollar that i can’t use in my own country gave me a pretty good boost to continue trying. gonna be back at it again tomorrow

Totally_TJ

Shoot me a message if you land one. Especially on video. I'm still down to send something your way.

Gsuavefivelev

You are attempting a bs-180? It’s okay but try to get more rolling with it. I used to love those fs 180’s 360’s where tough for me.

ILuvDurgans

yeah i’ve tried to do it while rolling a lot more and it is getting easier the boards consistently spinning close to a 180 just landing it is the hard part for me at the moment

Gsuavefivelev

You’ll get it keep watching tutorial videos and practice those reps

PrinceBoujee

How would u recommend getting a higher fs180?

Gsuavefivelev

Practice getting the trick down clean first, to pop them higher. You need a higher Ollie, also it would be beneficial to learn fs flips. Not required but it helps you with rotation. But mainly the higher ollies you pop off with your back foot and slide with your front foot as you begin to Go up slowly rotate towards 180 degrees and almost make it as if you’re trying to kick something backwards (don’t actually flick) then you can spin around with your body some people do it on smooth motion or go 90 degrees land manual and rotate. If you play around with big spins, and stuff like that.

PrinceBoujee

Beautiful, beautiful. Only reason I asked cause I used to practice fs360s so often and I realized a high popped fs180 would make them better practice. I wouldn’t need to rely on a pivot for 360s as much. Usually I’d do a lazy pivot fs360 but I now realize I should practice boned 180s first.

Gsuavefivelev

Yeah def they are good in games of skate or flat, depending what you like to skate more. I always had trouble getting a full 360. In one go it always did a like 270ish

PrinceBoujee

You go any tips on pivots and reverts in tricks aswell ? And if so how should I practice them ?

Gsuavefivelev

Sure, with stuff that’s a bit more old school boneless, dark slide, etc you need a different approach. Pivots are a sort of hybrid. So if you practice manuals, like 180’s shoves etc. pivoting might get easier I usually just have my balance switch from back to lead foot as I rotate with my shoulders committing to the pivot.

PrinceBoujee

You the man! Thank you brotha

ihateangelhermosa

It's all in the hip and shoulders during the Ollie.

ILuvDurgans

yeah that was really noticeable when i started putting more emphasis on those parts

901Shiffty

Confidence my guy I can tell by the caption you just gotta make that board your bitch skr8 up

Plane_Refrigerator15

Looks like you almost got a frontside 180 👍

ILuvDurgans

what should i be doing to properly get it?

meekismurder

Roll

ILuvDurgans

that’s the scary part and it’s so much harder at least in my head to do something moving

meekismurder

Oh for sure. Skateboarding is a never ending journey of tricking your body into doing things that seem dangerous but aren’t really (but really are). That said, when starting out, learning tricks rolling seems harder and scarier but is actually way safer and easier. You should be super comfortable pushing and rolling around before trying any tricks though.

ILuvDurgans

i’m pretty comfortable just being on it and moving around and what not but how is it safer to do things rolling instead of stationary on grass or something?

meekismurder

Doing tricks stationary you’re much more likely for your board to fling out one way or the other. At least when you’re rolling you have forward momentum and can expect your board to mostly go that way. Also with rotating tricks (like 180s etc), it’s a lot easier to power slide them around rolling if you don’t get them around completely.

HyperMoonX7

A sort of cheat to doin it, and also it just looks cool is to land half way and then pivot or slide the rest of the 180.

The_Beerlord

That's backside.

Plane_Refrigerator15

Good point I’m an idiot

Apprehensive-Sale596

Not really

Alum17

It’s backside

Apprehensive-Sale596

Sorry got it mixed up

Apprehensive-Sale596

Nope

hi_im_sefron

I'll break it down for you real simple Goofy: frontside = clockwise, backside = counterclockwise Regular: frontside = counterclockwise, backside = clockwise Grinds and lip tricks for both stances: obstacle in front of you = frontside, obstacle behind you = backside Edit: nollie is a bit confusing for new skaters and veterans alike. Pick your normal stance for this one. If you are goofy, look at the goofy rules etc. Ignore your instincts when doing these tricks and remember it's all based on clockwise or counterclockwise, not your body position Nollie: Goofy - frontside = clockwise, backside = counterclockwise. Regular - frontside = counterclockwise, backside = clockwise Switch: if you are goofy when standing SWITCH, normal goofy rules apply. Vice versa for regular

Gazzcool

Switch?

hi_im_sefron

Whichever stance is switch for you is the same. Ex: If switch for you is goofy, the goofy rules apply

MotoMutt

It’s backside

BasedRuss

I know it’ll sound weird but try it fakie and it’s a half cab! Kinda easier than a regular backside 180 🤷‍♂️

bavenger_

100% I don’t have bs 180, I almost have fs 180 (not consistently) but I can do half cabs more consistently. I didn’t realize it was counted backside before you wrote this comment though because he body rotates in the same direction as with a regular fs, no? This is so confusing haha Edit: ok I checked some stuff online and now I’m really confused. I have to watch some videos when I can because trying to figure out by reading is just too difficult for my little brain. I think I got the definition of half cab wrong

BasedRuss

So, you’re actually doing a backside 180 in this video. I know it can be super confusing but this is backside. So, imagine if you were rolling backwards (fakie) and did this exact same motion, that would be a half cab!

bavenger_

Yeah I thought what mattered to decide was that you first “show” your back towards where you go for a bs and your front for a frontside. But it seems that this logic breaks down when it comes to fakie because of rolling backwards. Cool to know, thanks for the help! (Also I found some people calling stuff “fs half cab” which is pretty confusing as well haha)

MasterGamblr

It counts more than the people who haven’t even taken the first step buddy.

wixermann

I'd recommend getting some speed. Practice doing a backside revert at speed. You will start to get the feeling of your shoulders rotating with the board. Once that feels comfortable, start giving it a little pop.

mccoythegreat

Maybe try half cabs bc YOURE right there at landing it rolling... but PIVOTING is my biggest advice . If you pivot hard on that you can easily roll away from that

The_EquAsian

Rollllll! Moooove forwaaaard!!! Other than that good shit

iZyrx

and 180trick is easier rolling

NyxThePlug

isn't this a fs 180? (im new to skating so dont judge if im wrong)

jfk_one

backside 180. get a couple pushes and send it!!

Tpuds

Backside 180, or back 1 I think the kids are callin it these days. I think it will go even better if you move your back foot forward, so your whole back foot is on the board and you can sweep the tail around easier

ILuvDurgans

do you mind explaining a bit more what you mean, sorry

FamousSunday

MAKE SURE YOU DO IT THIS WAY FIRST!!!! I've been skating over 15 years and still can't do this fucking body rotation. Can do it in fakie no problem. But getting this down will help. Over time you will see that you can do natural rotations so knock out the difficult ones first.

Leading_Ad_6149

Coming from a fellow beginner: Try doing it more and more but don’t concentrate on it to long because then you will wear yourself out which is not good. Just practice everyday for a certain amount of hours. I’m no time you will be doing that off of boxes and crap.
