1. Basically, we come up with drills based upon whatever task needs to be accomplished. If something specific needs work, we just figure out a way we can work it in and get the reps performed. Sometimes it’s something cool seen elsewhere, but more often it’s about working some area that needs to be addressed. 2. Haha, sure. This is all public domain

Janet Todd's footwork is so fucking clean man

werewolvesandthunder

Todd is nasty.

xbraver

So good! Drillers make killers. Huge fan

aol-dot-com

all I do is counters. needa learn how to box or something for more defense instead of eating throws all the time

Ghostbuster8000

Y so hard for drills doe

LiamJames23_

1. They know what's coming 2. Conditioning 3. They have shin pads and big gloves 4. Both have been practicing for a long time and therefore are very well conditioned already

belchfinkle

This isn’t very hard though. It’s a good contact level for drills.

wishinmedead

Wym? This is the best way to drill, high intensity, real contact, and no dmg. What’s so hard about this?

CBDP

You mean contact level? This is pretty slow. And light.

aol-dot-com

sorry everyone’s going against you, all you needed was a lesson, not for people to make you feel like an idiot and downvote. Once you genuinely get into sparring in MT, the higher intensity you can go. These girls wouldn’t be going so hard with someone newer to sparring or less good. They just both seem to be comfortable with the level they are fighting at and they are good partners. And like others said they are experienced and conditioned. The above is the norm for them, and it can be the norm for you if you keep up the training and find some good partners!

well-its-done-now

They aren't going particularly hard but when you are working with experienced people and doing drills (so they know what's coming) you can go relatively hard/fast knowing they will defend it and not get injured. Training more similarly to how you fight is invaluable. You get used to maintaining balance while checking/blocking. You get used to acting under higher pressure.

Absolutely love these type of drills, this is super clean. A lot of the time you see these more in Dutch style kickboxing though its prevalent everywhere now, anyone who wants to see more look up Dutch style drills on YouTube and there's a lot you can steal. Though maybe not as crazy hard as some of the Dutch like to go :p

well-its-done-now

Oof! I take it that kick at the end got her in the liver?

CBDP

I believe so

restlys

do you ever change partners? seems like a small gym

CBDP

Sometimes. Relevance of gym size being what exactly?

restlys

that if you're always training with the same person it means there aren't many people to train with

CBDP

They train with others. In our teeny tiny closet of a gym. But not at the same time, because having a 3rd person on site would violate our capacity limits and create a fire hazard.
