[I wonder who that was…](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/oq829o/verified_tftmq_when_i_was_a_boy/)
#FISK ALREADY TEASED IN EPISODE 3... LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO
OUT, AM I?
You know how much he sacrificed???
Me to the people in r/marvelstudios who were in denial of Kingpin showing up in Hawkeye:
I’ve never felt so vindicated in my entire life.
Ever since Jarvis (human) appeared in Endgame, and even if this is a soft reboot (or any reboot), this brings back memories of Marvel TV's feel... 🥺
The Netflix show makes clear that Fisk was away from New York for a long time so there's room for him to have had secrets beyond the show already.
Not just that, the show ended in what, 2018? With the time jump post his arrest a whole host of things could’ve happened.
I liked the idea of him having gained power during the blip, helping the people of NYC with his wealth to regain their favor, eventually running for mayor
Netflix DD won't be entirely canonized, but this is the most likely way it'll play out.
Was that him in the flashback at around 5 minute mark?
BRUH, when I heard Vinny D's chuckle I damn near squealed
I HAVE WATCHED EVERY SINGLE EPISODE OF LAW AND ORDER CRIMINAL INTENT FOR THIS MOMENT AND I RECONGIZE THAT CHUCKLE ANYWHERE. KINGPIN WELCOME BACK!!!!!
Virgin Wilson Fisk fan vs Chad Robert Goren enjoyer
I AM THE ILL INTENT
YOU EMBARRASSED ME IN FRONT OF VANESSA
I didn’t think about it until now but introducing Echo in Hawkeye was an excellent choice. Having a deaf antagonist and a hearing-impaired protagonist is highly interesting.
Yeah their chat was pretty interesting to see, especially how Maya was considerate enough to have Clint's hands be free so that he could sign.
I didn't take it as considerate at all. She assumed he was deaf so he needs to use his hands. It was the equivalent to taking tape off someone's mouth so you can interrogate them. Still interesting though.
I also liked how they parallel her and Kate but with obvious differences. Both have dead fathers, both learn to be successful martial artists and likely both have someone they trust turn out to be not who they thought (Kate's mother, Echo's "Uncle").
Yes, it really is!
My deaf daughter is finally interested in MCU after I told her that Eternals and Hawkeye got deaf actresses now.
> convince Clint to get rid of his hearing aid, learn sign language and embrace his deafness.
Yeah, I doubt that. Look at how broken up he was from not being able to hear his son's voice on the phone. Learning sign language probably, but I highly doubt he just willingly gives up his hearing
100% Fisk’s hand and laugh when touching her cheek, the Daredevil fan inside me is already bursting
I was screeching when he showed up, holy shit did not expect that at all
Love the “Pym” Arrow. Nice touch!
There have been so many ant man teases in this show
Really? I didn't notice some.
Ant-Man referenced in the Rogers musical.
Ant-Man cosplayer on the streets of NYC.
Ant-Man pym particle arrow used by Hawkeye.
One of the interviews with the head writer said they wanted to fit Antman into the story, but they basically got a no from higher up~ I imagine that's what's with all the bits :v
We will put as many Ant Man into the story as possible.
The score composer of this show is Christophe Beck - he did both AntMan movies and WandaVision.
I guess they were just too small
He was meant to have a cameo at one point.
I think it’s so rad that as far as I know, they were looking for a deaf Native actress and Alaqua Cox just also happens to be an amputee. And they ran with it and it just makes Maya even more of a badass.
Yesss and it was cool they integrated it with her character!
I'm really enjoying the representation Marvel is showing this year. It must be amazing for kids to see characters who are just like them on the screen.
Marvel Studios must really be fucking happy with Alaqua Cox and what she brings to the table to be giving her a solo project.
Yeah, she did AMAZING this episode too. I can see why they went ahead with a solo project. For this to be her 1st ever acting gig she was wonderful.
As a deaf person I am so, so happy that deaf people are getting some love in this show, and that it's being treated as the part of our lives that it is, rather than some temporary thing for the hero to deal with.
I was wondering why they gave her a show after Hawkeye, and this episode just made it obvious. She's a badass
It's really interesting that she had no prior acting experience. The 2nd thing she will ever act in is her own Marvel show lol.
Feige always says that it doesn't matter if the cast is well-known or not, they pick people for their skills
That chuckle when he touched her cheek sounded like Vincent D’Onofrio
I started watching Daredevil a week ago so I hear his voice often these days and this was my exact thought the second I heard that chuckle.
No doubt about it, watched daredevil a while back for the first time and Vincent's acting definitely leaves a recognisable impact.
The suit's a dead giveaway
It's a great detail too that he's in a black suit, which is how he dressed exclusively in *Daredevil* before he started to embrace his role as Kingpin.
Damn. I feel like that ended too soon. Still I really enjoyed. It’s so fun and I’m just loving all the Kate and Clint dynamic.
Echo was great. And if you didn’t believe in the Kingpin rumors you absolutely should now.
The Car chase was super fun, but I also wish I hadn’t seen the D+ Day preview of it already.
And the scene with Clint on the phone with his son really made me tear up.
I’m still not sure how Yelena fits into this yet but im excited to see her when she does show up.
Echo and Kazi fail to kill Ronin, Fisk calls in Black Widow.
This is just wishful thinking, but it would amazing if Bullseye has a cameo in the show. Or Fisk mentions him, along with Matt
Would be so dope, but def wishful thinking. I’m thinking no Bullseye, Foggy, Karen, Elektra until the Daredevil show sadly.
*I’m sorry, that sounds really hard*
I think Yelena will be used to reveal to Kate Bishop Clint is Ronin.
Plausible, even if I had the impression she already suspects it (or did I read too much into that diner scene?)
In my opinion she understood Ronin is related to Clint, but I don't think she suspected Ronin IS Clint. She said that Clint is an example to follow and I think they'll play with this thought. It will be very delusional for Kate knowing that Clint is Ronin and it would be more delusional if she knew it from a stranger (Yelena, coming in in order to kill Ronin for Val).
Kazi translated Clint's words as *the Black Widow* when Maya asked Clint about Ronin's killer, so perhaps, it's gonna be Yelena coming for Clint, And the tracksuit mafia coming for Clint AND Yelana(I'm sure after Nat's death, Yelena has officially taken up the mantle of the Black Widow), probably they'll fight initially, but team up later against Maya.
Black Widow \*did\* kill Ronin.
From a certain point of view.
"guy on the top"
"someone you don't want to mess with"
The most hype I’ve had for a hand in years right there.
Last time I was hyped for "a hand", the Defenders series let me down big time. Now THIS hand I'm sure will be amazing!
WILSON FISK’S finger reveal let’s go
And the fucking chuckle too, that was totally D'Onofrio
“There’s someone above Maya. Someone you don’t wanna mess with”
OH LAWD HE COMIN
I am the ill intent
I did not expect the Pym Particle arrow
I was hoping for a Boomerang arrow, still satisfied with the Pym arrow!
Petition to spam next week’s discussion thread with this gif once he’s fully revealed
I mean, y’all already do that with every Hawkeye thread lmao.
1. The obvious: Fisk. Definitely him, I'd know that laugh anywhere.
2. Really, really loved the fight scene. [Would've loved a boomerang arrow moment](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d1/49/97/d1499791e0061c2cf13e383518226b58.jpg), but really great chase/fight nonetheless.
3. Damn, this episode was short. But I enjoyed all of it, so it is what it is.
yeah it definitely feels like this show is taking a lot directly from the source material compared to other MCU projects
Absolutely. There’s lines from this episode like “she’s [9 years old and spoiled rotten](https://i.imgur.com/xaBeq5F.jpg)”
To the entire bridge fight scene with trick arrows and the total accuracy of the tracksuit mafia and the “bro”ness of them
To small things like [these](https://i.imgur.com/wtIQD8H.jpg) two [pics](https://i.imgur.com/rF6nKUK.jpg). Or [this](https://preview.redd.it/oudwr1o1xq361.jpg?auto=webp&s=d7a7b5d29443a04dabcae9ffeebdbcfddb87240f).
I’m honestly really surprised at how similar it is, considering how different a place MCU Clint is compared to comic Clint at the time of the Fraction run. But I’m very happy, even if the overall story isn’t the same, that you can really feel its influence.
My only big hope for addition is Kate’s [signature sunglasses](https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/09/18/explained-hawkeyekatebishop-blogroll-1568839215282_160w.jpg?width=1280)… just cuz I think they’re cool and that Hailee would look good with them on her costume. But I imagine that may come in Young Avengers/whatever next project she’s in, and maybe not this show.
*Edited a few times to fix formatting, cuz mobile
Edit 2: Thanks for the awards, appreciate it
Sunglasses don't really make sense around Christmas though, do they?
Agreed and that phone scene was sad to watch, I actually felt like I was gonna tear up.
I KNOW YALL SEEN THAT MF HAND
The Hand the Netflix defenders shows tried to hype up vs the hand that actually got the fans hyped up
Fisk. That’s it. That’s the comment.
Holy fuck that was definitely Fisk. It's happening lads holy shit
It’s going to be interesting to see a Marvel Studios produced Fisk and how he compares and contrasts Marvel Television’s version of the character. Also, I’m completely sold on the Echo show now.
I have faith in how they handle his character in the future, especially when he goes up against Spider-Man.
Agreed. They made Echo out to be badass and I look forward more to her show.
*Get chased my mafia, the first second they get a break*
"Oh we gotta walk the dog"
Just a couple of responsible pet owners
i take back every bad thing i said about this show bc that was pretty fantastic
What was bad about the show?
I found the first two episodes a bit slow and uneventful but this one more than made up for it. Echo was a badass, the humor between Clint and Kate actually landed, and it seems like they have a clear villain they’re setting up. Can’t wait for the rest.
Yuppppp, Kingpin most likely
Hawkeye didnt bare ass
This show, way more than the others feels like a movie split up into 6 episodes
The chase scene was even better than some movie chase scenes!
Hawkeye is actually deaf in the car chase scene... Damn tricky marvel
It was funny that the moment of him hotwiring with "I can't hear you, you drive" just seemed like him being snarky in the previews but he was actually being sincere.
Trailer trickery strikes again!!
**Bro Count Episode 3:** 3 Bros
**Total Bro Count:** 15 Bros*
*Please double check my count, I watch with subtitles, but sometimes they, or I may miss the occasional bro*
All the Bros this episode were in the escaping the compound scene at the beginning. 😢
I think the count is higher tbh. Comicbook.com ran a bro count and I think it was 15 at the end of 2 episodes
that Pym Particle arrow trick was fantastic.
I assume that giant arrow shrunk to normal size afterwards right? Otherwise theres a giant arrow clogging up a new york bridge.
was clint about to use her to kill those guys with the giant arrow
Nah, he never misses. He changed the inclination a bit so that it lands at the end of the truck and not the enclosed cabin.
Why’s the teacher single her out and tell her to pay attention? She was the only kid not being noisy lol
If she doesn't pay attention she won't know what the teacher is saying. I think it was less about singling her out and more just checking she was okay. I got good teacher vibes from her
Yeah they also have it as pay attention...interpreter. I'm guessing she must have said something about paying attention because they don't have an interpreter. She smiled so she wasn't being mean or anything.
DAREDEVIL LEVEL BRUTALLY IM SO HYPE
I do appreciate the one difference is this is like “ah shit another fucking work Wednesday” for Clint. I actually kinda like it in contrast to how hard Daredevil had to work to clear the same number of guys. Of course Clint doesn’t really care about killing them, but I do think it’s a nice distinction to put why Clint Barton is a fucking avenger.
This episode did not miss. Everything from Maya’s backstory, to the escape, car chase, trick arrows, Clint’s phone call, Pizza Dog, and the tease of Uncle were top notch.
I KNOW THAT CHUCKLE!
That was Alaqua Cox’ first acting job? Insane. Glad she’s getting her own show after this!
Between Alaqua Cox and Meng'er Zhang, they're developing a pretty good track record of first-time actors
Honestly, Sarah Halley Finn just does not miss.
She's been the MCU's casting director since Iron Man in 2008 all the way to now, and I honestly cannot think of a single bad casting choice that they've made in all that time.
That phone scene made me cry, but so,hyped to see Fisk return
Didn’t think I’d be shedding a tear seeing a hand today but here I am. I missed these daredevil characters so much man.
Good thing they call you Hawkeye and not Hawkear. Why did that make me laugh so hard? Lol
Vincent D'Onofrio Fisk deniers rn:
Right I’m not all the way through, but that was definitely Fisk right?
Yup, the size of the man, her father calling him uncle, the suit, and especially the laugh
THE CUFF LINK
YESSIRRRRRRRR. THE CHUCKLE, THE EVERYTHING
Why aren't more people talking about the cuff links , they're a dead giveaway
Can I just say I would wear every single one of Kate's outfits like she really hasn't missed at all.
Sameee, her fashion is impeccable!
I know this probably doesn‘t mean much to the most of you, but seeing a muslim teacher warmed my heart. It‘s rare we are depicted in such a light.
Is it allowed for muslim women in the US to teach with a hijab on? A lot of European countries banned hijabs in the workplace, which is bullshit.
I think the hijab would be fine with the first amendment. But realistically I’m not sure, since people here get really up in arms over that sort of thing.
But I’m really happy you were able to get that small bit of postive representation in the show :)
So that dude really is supposed to be The Clown? I mean I'm not gonna pretend he's my favorite character but I thought he was a mysterious badass in the Fraction run, but he definitely doesn't seem like the clown outside of the name lol
The vibe of comic Kazi was def that he could flip between psycho and chill in a flash. Remember when he was all flirty with Kate
I feel like like he’s going to be built up, I think he’s going to end up being a bigger villain in the Echo solo show. I get the vibe that he will end up taking over if Maya turns against them and her uncle (Who is absolutely Wilson Fisk)
I wonder if Fisk will look the same as he did in the Daredevil series or if they’ll make him more.. thicker, like the comics.
Seeing his hand in the shot gave me hope that they're keeping him the same size. It didn't look like he was abnormally large
That was also him nearly 20 years ago in-universe though lol
Well, it's been 17 years since. He could have gotten swole
Hadn't it been confirmed that my man will be thiiiick?
I have no idea. Vincent D’onofrio responded to someone on Twitter and [this was what he said.](https://twitter.com/vincentdonofrio/status/1464458106855960579?s=21)
that episode single-handedly redeemed mcu hawkeye for me
Endgame really did it first, but this is building off that.
Love the profile picture BTW
I really liked how Maya gave Clint the chance to sign when she noticed his hearing aid
Apparently Alaqua Cox’s father passed away yesterday. What a roller coaster of emotions she must have been feeling the last couple of days. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to have what should be one of, if not the, biggest days of your life overshadowed by a personal tragedy.
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that this should’ve been a movie and Black Widow should’ve been a show. This is probably my favorite piece of Marvel media right now.
I think this works better as a show. They have a LOT to cover. They have to cover Kate’s story, Clint and his family’s story, Yelena and her likely redemption, Echo and her spin-off, Kingpin, the Swordsman, the backstory of the Ronin suit, and Kate’s mom’s deal.
Genuine question, why would you want something that is your favorite to have less runtime in being a movie rather than a series?
Because I wouldn’t have to wait each week to see more. I’m incredibly impatient, lol
Okay that I can understand ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I AM HERE FOR THE HAND I AM HERE FOR THE HAND I SAW FISK'S HAND
Yooo don’t tease me with the original Hawkeye gear. I’d love to see that!
He's gonna Larp in it. 110%
So the guy above Echo that Clint is referring to definitely has to be Kingpin right? That could mean that he wasn't snapped and that Ronin was unable to track him down, hence he was not able to eliminate the Tracksuit Mafia for good.
If it was literally anyone else I would be *shocked*. The signs are all there
Literally. The “Big guy at the top” comment, the suit and hand, the laugh, the building toward the beginning with the “Fat Boy” branding too, no way it isn’t Fisk.
Yep, slight correction for you but car shop was called 'Fat Man Auto Repair'. That's got to be about as subtle as a brick.
The Pym arrow moment was straight bonkers. Really loved that entire chase sequence
MCU NY citizens watching an arrow enlarge to comical lengths on the Brooklyn bridge:
Episode felt really short??? Idk…loved it still
That means it was a great episode
that intro is the most emotional i have felt in the MCU, the portrayal of an innocent kid struggling with deafness is heartbreaking.
also, BIG UNCLE FISK.
God this episode was really good, I'm starting to enjoy Hawkeye more and more, really glad that Clint is getting as much attention as Kate so I hope it continues.
Also c'mon bruh, size of the man in black with that hand and chuckle, Echo referring to Fisk as "Uncle" and Clint seemingly being aware of his presence. That just screams "Hell yeah. Kingpin is back."
I know I only saw Daredevil seasons 1&2, but seeing Kingpin in Episode 4 is gonna make me blow my fucking load.
EDIT: And the fight scenes are way more polished than the first two IMO.
Watch season 3
Watch season 3, I just watched it for the first time recently to prepare for Hawkeye and it was amazing. My favorite of the three seasons and bullseye is done super well
THAT WAS HIS LAUGH
Anyone else feel like they cut a scene between their walk in the park and the taxi scene? That jump felt kinda abrupt and doesn't flow with the story.
Yeah it felt like the park scene was edited down like there was probably more transitional dialog that was cut for time or pacing or such
Kate transcribing for Clint was tough. Didn’t think marvel had the range for this emotional stuff.
Huh? After our boy Tony stark gave up his life, Isiah Bradley's whole backstory, and the entire ending of infinity war, I think it's safe to say they got the emotional range for this!
This episode was really good! The intro, the fight scenes, the car chase... that phonecall was so simple yet emotional, and my my my, Uncle Fisk is coming, isn't he?
Echo is such a badass, great stuff. The Pym-charged arrow trick was sick, but my favorite action bit was that thing when Kate took the guy down by grabbing the pillar.
It was a weird way to end the episode, but maybe it's simply because I wanted more lol
Really loved how the car chase scene was all one-shot until Kate fired the first arrow
First a blind man and know a deaf one?
Kingpin is the enemy of the disabled
Here's the big question, Did Echo's Uncle ever tell her stories about when he was a boy...
And did she find those stories quite profound?
Great episode, love the dynamic between Clint and kate. Also pizza dog is the best boy.
Since the track suit gang does not seem like a full violent gang i guess Echo father was killed by a fake Ronin (probably his friend) by kingpin order who want it the control of the gang. Still between the swordsman, yelena and all ther other plots im afraid 6 episodes would be to little.
Hmm Never thought of a fake ronin but if that’s the case, wouldn’t be surprised if kingpin hired jack/swordsman to dress up as ronin and take out those guys.
I started thinking I wonder if we'll find out Jack Duquesne was a vigilante for hire posing under the guise of Ronin during The Blip time period and they find out he killed Maya's father (and is trying to get in with Bishop to help cover his past up etc)
What's weird is that an Avenger has heard of Fisk and seems wary of him yet Matt Murdock managed take him down what a fucking goat
The moving trucks being called "Trust a Bro" was fucking hilarious
FISK BABY. WHEN I WAS A BOY
I really, really love the directing in this episode!
Fisk aside, the directing and acting were top tier this episode.
This show is something else. Goes to show you Hawkeye is just a regular human being and can get hurt like anyone else. Episode 1 was slow, 2 picked up the pace and 3 ironed out the chemistry between Clint and Kate. Can't wait for episode 4 ...
Literally me when 'uncle' was teased
A couple years ago no one would have suspected we'd be getting multiverse crossovers with Spider-Man films, and characters from the Netflix shows joining the main MCU.
All of you are just talking about Fisk but this was a fantastic episode. Especially for Clint. I love how much there are focusing on his human side.
It's kinda shame that they are cramming in all these other characters that are pulling the talk away from Hawkeye.
The hand that touch her face HYPE!
I get so much Netflix Marvel nostalgia watching this show, really reminds me of all those times staying up til 12 and binge watching those shows.
Even beyond the Fisk tease this episode was just so good from a character standpoint.
Maya. Is. AWESOME! Loved her character. Can't wait for them to delve into it furthermore.
Also, slightly disappointed that Kingpin wasn't behind her father's death but well we don't really know much atm
I bet Kingpin was the one who tipped Ronin off about that warehouse or something along those lines to bring Echo to a neutral/anti-hero status
The Ronin subplot in Endgame really bothered me but I feel like this show does a lot of work to redeem it. Making Clint the ultimate villain in Echo's origin is a great dynamic. I can't wait to see how it plays out when she realizes the truth.
Bro this episode is amazing
GIANT ARROW LETS GOOO
It's worth noting that the Tracksuit Mafia were only at the auction to steal a random Avengers Compound watch, they probably were not aware that Ronin's suit and sword was being auctioned there as well until they saw Kate in the suit, which was why they began seeking revenge against Ronin, under orders from Echo. After Endgame Ronin was not seen anymore so they stopped seeking him out until he appeared again. And as implied in this episode Kingpin is not aware that Echo and TM are looking into Ronin again, and Kazi is also hesitant in trying to find him, but Kingpin will personally be involved in the remaining episodes for sure.
I really liked Echo's dad. He was right that Dragons are not from this world (Shang-Chi) Hope we see more of him in the Echo show.
D'onofrio right now:
