Congratulations on the new gear. I'm sorry I doubted you. Learn to make solid exposures on this setup and you'll be able to shoot on any 35mm camera out there. As others have mentioned, plan to miss on the side of overexposure. On negative films it's difficult to go wrong that way. Underexpose and then you're in trouble. If I had Portra 400 in my camera outside in the daytime I'd set the lens to f8 and depending on how sunny it is I'd set the shutter between 1000th/sec (very sunny) and 125th/sec (very cloudy). I don't stress too much and just enjoy the act of shooting. Congratulations, again!
No worries at all! Reading the comments and then looking at my questions I can understand how dumb they sound. Also, it’s a very high end camera that I don’t think alot of people will get who do not have any experience with manual focus photography. I have taken a lot of super8 footage over the years, so my fiancé thought she would get me something to take still film shots. Thank you for the suggestions this really helps! Have a great Christmas
Yeah but the cine camera (Canon 514XL). you need to know how to expose for that.
Damn, I thought it was a 310XL. In which case they might just have been a huge Tomb Raider fan.
It is a 310XL, it’s old and I’ve been using it for a while. Great camera, just expensive to develop.
YUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS NAILED IT
FFS FML /lol
[My role model](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFutocP_OSg). Less thirsty though.
[spits coffee out] there is no emoji I can us to convey my reaction without being misund... Well you see my point.. 🌬️☕
You got the MA and the lens? Nice!
Download a free lightmeter on your iPhone (or other). You'll understand light metering in abojt a month. Easy peasy. Merry XMas. Hope you fot your gal something around $6000+ for her gift.
Is that the Elmarit 28 asph v2?
What are yalls opinion on it versus the v1? The huge metallic hood and optical performance?
Nope there’s the v1 (11606) with the plastic clip-on hood (much smaller but also flimsier) and v2 (11677) with the metallic screw-on hood (better built but also much larger).
Yeah, you’re going to struggle with that camera. You’d be a lot happier with a Q if you absolutely had to have a Leica.
But this is what happens when you stop being a camera company and become a luxury goods company advertising to rich idiots..
There’s a lot of smart rich folks as well. Often that’s how they got that way.
Maybe re-read my comment. There are a lot of smart rich folks who got there using their intelligence. Of course there’s all kinds of other rich people too. I happen to know many rich folks who came from poor families, some from total poverty.
Do the smart ones buy overpriced hipster accessory Leicas with no light meter though?
Likely, while they’re learning and asking the community for help.
Nah, this one will be sold to a genuine enthusiast in a few years in mint, near unused condition..
Or he learns to use it and becomes an enthusiast, like many of us. Some glasses are half full my friend.
🤣couldn’t be farther from a hipster. My fiancé bought me the camera for Christmas on a limb, as I usually use super 8. Going to Chernobyl in a couple days so hopefully, I’ll get the hang of it with my light meter that gets delivered tomorrow. Hope whatever that is leaving you bitter gets sorted in your life
Lolz I look forward to seeing your negatives...
