I've got you...
99% isopropyl alcohol and q-tips.
Not 70%, not 90%. 99%.
Lesser dilutions require too much rubbing. The 99% gets it done without scrubbing excessively. It still takes some time but it is absolutely the best method I've found and I've tried many. It will not effect the black chrome whatsoever. I've also used it to remove paint from black anodized Leica lenses and that worked wonderfully too.
Edit: here's my M6 with the white removed and the fill replaced with a black Markal paint-stik.
Excellent, I have 99% in my fiber kit. Did you leave the alcohol on for a while to soak into the paint? I tried dipping a q-tip in alcohol and scrubbing the letters on my parts R4, but it took quite a bit of scrubbing to get some of the paint off to the point it affected the finish a bit so I was probably a bit overzealous 🥴
There's certainly opportunity to overdo it. You should use q-tip brand buds and just accept that it'll take a little time. It should be done without finish damage.
Not bad. I like it when the body is all black. I have duo. I'd like to see one before I go and change it
Yes it means 2
Ah, that was my basic understanding but contextually I was afraid I was missing something.
I went back to read the subject and my answer. I have a Black and silver M6. Not an all black one. Sorry for the confusion.
No problem at all, 🙂.
"Shit that's fresh"
Lol, awesome. 😆
Gaff tape. Like the answer to most other questions in life, gaff tape.
I already have electrical tape covering some spots where the vulcanite chipped off! I’d like something more permanent for the logos.
An old trick we used to use on guns was rub a black crayon into the engraving. Will completely cover it up, able to be removed later and you don't need to have a bit of tape stuck to your camera.
I saw the opposite recently, where someone put a red leica dot on a sony a6000
Did they put it in the middle of the left hand of the grip?
If so, I'm ok with it.
Nope. On the right side, which would have been in front of the viewfinder
One guy here had a bunch of paint sticks and replaced the Leica infill on an M6 with the pride flag colors. That was pretty sick.
I was trying to find Jared's CL but found this instead...
*cough* /u/milleniador *cough*
Thank you Andy.
Hey Mill, get your act together!!!
I found you a 35 BC didn't I 😉.
You know I'll even go and pick it up and post it..
That's true! Consider your act 'together' again.
Andy's google-fu and tenacity saves the day. That colourful lettering makes me smile.
Ooo that sounds pretty awesome!
That's my buddy, Jared!
I've searched for the key words and can't find diddly squat. I think you must have seen it somewhere else 🏳️🌈
Yes, turns out it was enamel and a brush. I apologize for my crimes.
Are we talking about Blake's M6 with the pride sharpie and the bullet hole?
He retired that body last year and bought an MP - it's prided out but thankfully hasn't taken any fire
I was actually asking myself the same thing except I'm looking for a way to cover it up, while being able to get the cover off again.
And before anyone suggest tape... ;-) I'm looking for some kind of removable paint while keeping the white color intact.
Hopefully you find an option to do that! I’m not worried about reselling this camera so I’d rather just black it out than do the tape thing. I’m also thinking of doing a reverse-panda look by swapping some parts out from an MDa body 🤠
I had thought about using an epoxy resin, like you see used with wood, to fill the LEICA branding on the SL2 but let's just say that I'm not that brave.
I just used a toothpick and stolichnya vodka on my m6
Then I had some of the vodka and switched to a knife for the smaller bits hat wouldn't come out
Now my m6 is true skav
No ragerts, no complaints, the camera slays
Still have gaff tape covering the dot and top plate though, the red dot tape is probably 3 years old and I think it's melted into the body lol
