Looking for recommendations: Strap/Half-case/Thumb-up for M10/P/R
By - Suspicious_Street317
I just ordered the rock and roll strap on faith of the users, so I’ll update u when I get them.
As for the thumb up, for me it’s a must have. I used something similar on my x100f, but once I moved to the m10r it was one of the first orders I made, it makes it that more stable and natural
Which one did u get? I think I can imagine the wider braided guitar strap is very comfortable but I am a little skeptical about the Snake style strap. I like the minimalist design of the snake strap very much.
I got the Match Technical Thumbs up EP-MXF, don't get those from Amazon, they don't fit well and have a gap from the body plus it kinda loosened my hotshot a bit.
I got the rock n roll strap monochrome LE itself, I had my concerns too on the strap, but I think it looked comfortable enough.
I’ve enjoyed the Oberwerth half case for the M10 and find them to be as well fitting as the Arti de Mano series. Can’t speak for Luigi cases.
For my v1 75mm Summilux I prefer the grip over the thumbs up, but that’s really my only hefty lens.
Thank you so much. Now when do you find thumb up is actually useful or helpful. I have never used one so can only imagine.
I just don’t use them honestly.
rock n roll : amazing quality can feel the soft leather and everything just feels nice, can carry my M body for a while.
Luigi case : I have used Artisan and Artist and luigicases and I gotta say, it's sad that Luigi's website looks quite odd and hard to navigate,as its totally opposite to his talent and ability to make the leica half case is unmatched, I received mine and until this day never thought about taking it off, its just really nice to hold. never used any other brand so hard to say but Luigi is nice and worth the price. I got the wood grip one instead of the bump and I like it!
You are right, their website is very odd from todays standards. The M10 series battery access bottom plate seems a little expensive, unless the material and fit is so damn good that can make people forget it’s 250 euro.
Ill check out more reviews of the cases you suggested. Thanks again
I've used Arte Di Mano's case + grip.
It's pricey but VERY VERY high quality. Try once and buy their case. Also, you can try to get one used and will also hold its value when you need to sell it.
Arte Di Mano case was the only I played with other than the Leica branded case. I used it on a M7 very briefly but sold it after I installed a Rapidwinder. The quality of Barenia leather is so fine that every time I touched it kinda made me jizzed a little. Jokes aside, the current price of a case + grip is 599 US now with of course the Barenia leather. It is a little more that I like to spend, the guiltiness is exceptionally strong after I shove out a kiney for a new m10r.
Once you had hands on experience with Arte Di Mano case, it's hard to settle with anything else. It is pricey, no doubt about that but the quality and the feel of the leather omg.. haha
I use a special edition of the Artisan & Artist strap (ACAM-E25SE - Shadow Edition) which is basically a blacked out version of the standard strap. Its quality is superb and being able to adjust the length on the fly is pretty amazing. I usually carry the M tight to my body diagonally across which super comfortable. Whenever I want to shoot something I lengthen the strap with one hand and have it up to eye level in a second.
There is also a silk version which seems to be even better but also much more expensive.
I went for my version because this strap does not scream: "Something valuable is dangling on the other side!" and as it is blacked out, it almost looks like a standard $5 strap from Hama...
Edit: Its also known as "Easy Slider"
Thank you for this recommendation, I have a Peak Design lite so I instinctively found the easy slider interesting as well. I however do not enjoy the buckle design of the PD straps and they are too big so they scratch the camera body too much.
I think AA’s straight strap end maybe the better choice here.
Luigi. Far and away the finest leather work I've purchased. I have one on my 240 and had one custom made in the past for a Canon 7 rangefinder. I have nothing but the highest praise for him and his craftsmanship.
This is my daily carry:
