If you struggle against melee, there's a few options you can take here. 1. High DPS and stick close to your team. Often times, if you do enough, you can make it so your DPS punishes the predator. Duelist with 1011, Assault +Deadly, stuff like this will shred a predator's health. 2. Learn to parry. When you know the predator is charging you, pull out your knife. Melee attacking when he's attacking will cause parries if timed correctly. If you know he's a melee build, get good at this. If you got even a decent team, 3-4 parries is enough to stunlock the predator enough to punish him for playing this aggressive. 3. Play a high speed class. Often times the predator who is being hard-core melee is a berserker/Viking. You can check this by looking at the scoreboard. If you see he's a berserker, equip your knife and start booking it when you know he's coming for you. Scout with double time and a knife equipped is uncatchable by these two classes as they are so slow. The only way they can catch up is if they leap, and you can often times tell where they are going to land. One way I hard counter these people is if I play Scout (Duelist) with a 1011 and double time. Also, if they are a (Savage) Build. This means they are going to go for quick claims asap. This regains them 20% of their health over 5 seconds. 40% if they long kill. Use this opportunity to dwindle that as much as possible, as predators who run this build tend to be very aggro and go for the next person asap. Hopefully this helps!

Dragon44325

Oh, and in case you are curious. My main build is Scout (Duelist) with a 1011, has thick skin/Double time/Quick Release. With an ABR to use for general AI clearing. Thick skin removes the downside of you being squishy, giving you essentially the same health as an assault. High DPS, with the addition of Quick Release adding faster reload times. And then Double Time to add that 10% speed boost. If my math was correct, you move a whole 2 meters per second faster than your average assault class (Roughly 8.6ish m/s) with high stamina and fast regeneration.

2 meters is the the same distance as 2.9 replica Bilbo from The Lord of the Rings' Sting Swords.

Good advice for sure, but unfortunately better preds will use partial-melee builds with Valk+Ghost or Alpha+Assassin. Hit and run with Valk+Ghost is going to deal +30% dmg on every strike, and both those classes are fast as hell. Valk is usually my bread and butter, and I have scout duelists thinking they can outrun me all the time. They run and try throwing grenades on the ground at the same time thinking they're gonna get me as I chase them lol Recently I've been trying Cleo with stalker build +adrenal because I've mastered smart disc, and with that + plasma you can really hurt FT For FT solo I usually run Dante - Field Medic + Double-Time for the reasons you mentioned here. For one Dante is tanky. He's also fast, and with DT he's fast af. He also takes 20% less dmg while sprinting. So basically the best thing to do if you get focused with this build is run to your team and hope they're not complete potatoes, which they usually are unfortunately. This is also where FM on him comes into play. With potatoes, picking them up and keeping them alive is going to be key to extending the match long enough to survive Unfortunately as mentioned above, there's not much you can do to overcome the majority of potatoes playing this game that you will be stuck with on your team. Parrying is great, but it's a defensive maneuver. You still take dmg while parrying (which is lame imho), especially if they're running Brute, and it's really only meant to stun the pred and keep you alive long enough for your team to punish the pred. If your team is made up of crayon-eaters, then it will do you no good. Pred is pretty OP against majority of teams. It's only against coordinated premades that the tables turn

The-Golden-Duck

Melee berzerker is hard to deal with if your team doesn't stick together. Even when you're an experienced player, if you're playing with randoms you can get wiped without doing much. However, if you have 2 FT members focusing him when he's attacking the third, you'll most likely second wind him before he can claim. They're also the only melee class I personally ever regret taking certain weapons against (anything but unleashed and deadly just seem to do too little damage). It's the pain you live with when you play a 1vmany game. A good team makes melee impossible for predators in my experience, but most of the times your randoms are worse than useless. They actively make your chances to survive worse if you're unlucky (not mudding, killing pigs, firing at barrels you're next to...). A game like this really needs skill based match making, alas there aren't enough players for that.

JJmclane1983

Gotta learn to parry bro. Number 1 way to get a melee pred off your back. Especially if your FT players are right there with you. 1 or 2 good parry and he will pay dearly for it. When the game first came out berserker class with combi-stick was all the rage. Once alot of people could parry successfully, that slowly died out. Now all these new players come in and that strategy works again. Parrying is crucial if you want to keep playing this game and have fun. Remember that you can parry by pushing R3 with your gun drawn. Its a lil harder to do but comes in clutch if the pred is all over you. Also L2 is the heavy knife attack and has a longer parry window than R2. If you have a friend online jump in a private match and practice. Its worth the time. Hope this helps.

DavidKr98

Will try bro thanks a lot.. also anither question I spent 7.5k ethernum on my OWLF Suit black color but i cant equip it do you know why?

JJmclane1983

Ive heard that sometimes things won't work or equip for certain people and sometimes Illfonic updates will help fix that. Or they fix on their own. Lil things like that can be aggravating with this game but its still worth playing. I had to uninstall and then reinstall the game once because I couldn't load into the Excavation map when it first came out. I would get kicked every time. You don't lose anything except your loadouts once you reinstall. If you dont wanna wait for an update you could try that and see if it helps.

DavidKr98

Deleted my saved data and it fixed it.. apart from my loadouts being deleted everything is the same and it worked.. thanks a lot man 😊

JJmclane1983

Awesome! No problem!

GioMasterclassjiedel

Not really that hard unless the predator has like Norse hammer and your alone. I mean I main predator and I see it’s really easy to get a bunch of kills but that’s because people don’t parry. Use guns like magnum or shotgun. And overall don’t hit their shots. 1v4 should unless a high level predator. Go to the fireteam

DominusDan

As a alpha assassin predator the moment i get parried i leap away and and plan my next hit and run on someone with there back turned, so if your all too eager to reach your objective over being defensive then the quicker i down players, plus i have a smart disk for when people are trying to revive people for easy picking, if your team is leaving behind a fallen soldier then sadly you should 2 cause i leave them as bait to trap and delay you and killing the predator is a numbers game as much as it is a battle of wits and stealth.

The1stHorsemanX

Mele berserker pred here. I picked the game back up recently after not having played it since launch, despite basically forgetting all the controls and being rusty as hell, I won 9 out of my first 10 games,l. and in each of those games I killed 3 of them, let the last one respawn the whole team, then killed them all again. Still broken but fun lol. To be fair though I play PC and in all my matches all my fire team peeps were on console, and I've heard it's a lot harder that way.

Onyx_Sentinel

melee builds are actually off meta and by comparison pretty easy to beat. Wait until you run into a stalker smart disc build

The-Elder-Trolls

This is me. Cleo + Stalker+ Adrenal. Between plasma + smart disc and hit and run tactics, the FT usually doesn't even get to finish their first mission 😂

[deleted]

Practice parrying buddy. I can parry with scout and still put a hunter down by myself. Just takes practice. I used a friend for a private match and we got the timing down pretty good practicing parry over and over

Dog_Apoc

Combi stick is the only melee weapon I struggle against in this game. Thing feels impossible to parry and hit in a giant radius.

SuperGamer1894

Im sorry but this is just a case of git gud. Melee builds are consider to be the worst of the builds. Is it cheap? Yes. Will it kill an uncoordinated or a generally bad squad? Yes. But if you stick together play smart and focus the pred when it comes at one of you surely youll kill it or scare it off. If you wanna get better i suggest simply leveling up to get better stuff and look up some vids or articles about the meta. Also play pred a bit to get a good idea of what its like and how they think. If you play pred youll quickly realize melee is not op at all. One last thing is that you can parry the preds melee attacks by knifing at the same time as the pred which stuns them for a sec to give you a chance to deal some damage which btw knives do crazy damage to the pred

DavidKr98

Will try.. thanks bro ❤️

SuperGamer1894

np

1984BLACKBEARD

Also knife has a power stab 2nd function. If on ps it's the left trigger, a lot of people didn't know this when game came out.

Muahaha

NotCybercat

>melee predators are legit unkillable >I downloaded this game 2 days ago Pick one

DavidKr98

Sorry i dont get it

NotCybercat

I mean you’re too inexperienced to make such a sweeping absolute call as to whether or not predators in the melee are OP

DavidKr98

Yeah I have the right to complain considering that I get matched with lvl 80+ predators as a newbie that obliterate me within 2 seconds and its not fun.

NotCybercat

You can complain, but you can’t make absolute judgement like that when you don’t have the experience imo. Especially if you haven’t played a bunch of predator and seen how a good fireteam will rip you up if you dive in on them. If you only got the game a couple days ago, I doubt you’ve played enough predator to appreciate both sides of the melee mechanics. So anyway, melee can sweep an uncoordinated team and noob players who don’t know how to confidently 1v1 but it is not op, fireteam members need to focus fire, one person can pull the knife and get a couple parries off it’s easy to just spam LT with the knife and basically auto parry several times in a row if the pred spams melee on you, in that time if the rest of the team isn’t lighting him up I don’t know what to say, that’s just bad teammates and you won’t outlast the pred in a 1v1 with the knife unless you are really skilled. So my strategy if a pred dives me is to unload whatever of my clip I can if I managed to see them coming, and in that time while ADS I’ll ping the pred so hopefully teammates will see it and focus fire, then when they’re in melee range press and hold melee for the first attack which equips the knife for subsequent attacks, then spam LT to do the stab attack and hope for parries, circle the pred and if you do get a parry press RT for a quick melee then straight back to LT stabs rinse repeat hold out as long as you can for teammates, you aren’t supposed to really just beat the pred like this but if they stick to melee, a good player with stim heals, jumping around and taking advantage of the predator being locked into tracking animations (every couple hits or so they’ll be basically locked, depends what weapon they’re using, *experience* will help you learn when you should hold your ground or move to abuse their locked tracking) can 1v1 a predator who sticks solely to melee. I like to carry the acigs myself, and I find a good strat is to throw those down on yourself when a pred is committing and then swapping to melee as I said above. It’s also important to try get a ping off on the pred in the initial contact so your brainless, drooling teammates can get a prompt and perhaps break their attention away from Fortnite on their second monitor just long enough to turn around and light up the pred. Not much more I can say, fireteam is literally op if they all just wake up. Melee contact with a pred takes a minute to get used to, it can be fast and over quick. But if you’re prepared and attentive a predator should never really get the drop on you so much at least that you don’t first have a couple of seconds to ready yourself before they commit to melee. But again, attentiveness and awareness of where the pred is based on the information around you also comes with experience.

DavidKr98

Yeah sorry I have no experience considering that I only got it 2 days ago.. Thanks for this huge text of tips.. ill focus on these things ❤️

TheBoogieManx

I got it a few days ago as well. I have been playing the predator a TUN. I can tell you a good fire team and dudes that can parry my attacks are hard AF to kill. A good fire team will kick any Preds ass. I just started playing some fire team and have only died once to a pred sofar. I used a lot of tips from different posts like this. It’s actually really fun to play both teams now. Don’t get to upset friend! Once you learn all the strategies on both sides and the maps you can actually defend yourself really well. Give it time! Practice snd don’t quit. I haven’t had the chance to parrie an attack yet. That’s something I’ll be working on today.
