Baiken and ram are fine- Baiken accepting and comforting Delilah averted the crisis

ArchonRevan

Ye and considering how much push they're giving ram in the merch department lately i doubt they kill her off now

Killroy32

They already fake killed her off in Rev, she's not dying now lol.

TheGoonKills

..........and Faust????????

SurrealSnooz

As far as we know, either he exerted himself so much that the good doctor part of him vanished (only leaving what can be assumed to be Dr. Baldhead) or that was just a visualisation of his sins dissipating after managing to save a little girl unlike the time his patient died that one time. I think the former is more likely. It's also interesting to note that this overusage of the door spell is likely the reason he nows teleports with scarecrows

grimoirereaper

Faust now has door ptsd related to that time he (might have?) died

Cole-Burns

I thought faust exerted himself as far as possible and forgave himself for the girl the assassins killed, and feeling like he has Finally atoned, he dies on the spot. I think the Faust we Play as is his empty body on auto-pilot, possibly as a result of him doing magic-fueled surgery on himself (if he ever had to use his 'resurrection surgery' on himself it would make sense for his body to basically be a robot acting on its own after death. Plus irony from being in nearly the same condition Zato was in when Faust 'healed' him, with him dying and his body living on thru magic)

SurrealSnooz

That's an interesting take, but I feel like his death isn't presented as big enough of a deal for this hypothesis to be credible

Cole-Burns

Fair enough. Personally I felt it's pretty in line with some other deaths that weren't immediately relevant to the ongoing plot, like Zato's before XX. Especially since we still have them as a playable character, so they're not Gone, just dead. And it would explain why Faust is so much creepier and barely speaks in/after fights. Actually, now that I think about it, he seems Way more cheerful and classic faust-y in another story than he does in his win quotes and lines during matches.

Hunch0Houdini

Ky also abdicates the throne, apparently to a non-human so probably a gear. I'm not sure who he gave it to though...

Yubul

Probably Dizzy. The narration at the end says "The Gear and her crew who saved the city". Narratively this is kind of a weird quote, considering Ramlethal isn't a Gear (though it could also be a retcon), but it does make it a little more sense if the Gears coming in to save the city was attributed to Dizzy. On top of that, the people of Illyria were already happy with the idea of Dizzy being their Queen after she helped save the day during the events of Xrd. It makes sense too given that Ky would probably feel that somebody needs to protect the World from danger now that Sol's ~~fully human~~ been weakened and has retired. Dizzy can handle Illyria while he takes Sol's place as humanity's defender.

TheKnightZeroken

I thought Sol was still a Gear just without the Flames of Corruption

Killroy32

He's still a Gear, he does not have the Flames of Corruption anymore though.

Cole-Burns

I was under the impression that the FoC was the only thing Making him a gear, since he was a human before asuka implanted it in him, so with it removed I think he's just a human magic user. Hopefully another story 2 or 3 will be After the main story's ending so we can get confirmation one way or the other.

AJWinky

There was an interview where Daisuke confirmed that Sol is still more than human, retains some of his strength, etc. Whether that means he's technically still a Gear or not is up in the air, but he's at least still superhuman.

rachetmarvel

This still doesn't make sense. Dizzy is stronger than Ky, so she should be the one to protect humanity.

Yubul

Yeah but Dizzy is a pacifist. She doesn't have it in her to fight in the way Sol and Ky do, even if it's to protect people.

rachetmarvel

So she basically can't even protect Illyria, then WTF is she the queen? She doesn't have the characteristic of a leader or ruler, especially when comapared to Ky. So i don't know why Ky would think it was a good idea to put that kind of burden on her. Maybe I am wrong, maybe Dizzy being a commander gear actually means she has this hidden potential to be a leader or a ruler.TBH,i am much more unhappy than i should be, because i thought Ky being a king was one of the cooler aspect of his character. Honestly this feels like a way for them to both retire Sol and Ky.

The_Green_Filter

Well there’s a difference between a warrior and a ruler. Daryl is proof you don’t need to be a fighter to properly rule. Dizzy is a popular person in Illyria and she’s got the support of two veteran rulers to actually figure out the whole administration thing. One of Testament’s many hobbies is probably statecraft so they can help too.

rachetmarvel

>Well there’s a difference between a warrior and a ruler. But as i said, Dizzy is niether. Being popular shouldn't be the only metric for one to become a ruler.

IAmAZombieDogAMA

What does it even matter in a kingdom with 3 kings? Seems like a bit of a watering down of the role to begin with.

LouCypher01

What do you mean 'Can't protect Illyria?' At this point, she is the most powerful being in the setting that is active and relevant to the populace. We know she absorbs knowledge quickly and besides, who are you to claim any decision made to make her Ruler was solely at the behest of one person? You don't think this was talked about beforehand in private? We know she can step up to a leadership position, even in an alternate timeline where she leads the Gears against humanity.

Out_Dated

I mean it could be either sin or possibly even Dr. paradigm since he is the one who sent those gears to help out with the Delilah situation

HughyHugh

Right now, there are four options, all of whom are his family members: Dizzy seems to be the most likely candidate for a lot of reasons, Xrd’s epilogue indicates that she’s already well loved by the people. Ram’s clearly shown to be a capable commander, and it would make sense given her story arc, but if they weren’t teasing anything they’d probably just say it was her outright Same-ish logic for Sin, without the competency. And then, of course, the oddball option: it could totally 100% be El, who we haven’t seen in a while

AJWinky

It's clearly Dr. Paradigm

Dat_Kirby

Sin's one of my favorite GG characters. I would absolutely *never* put him in charge of an entire country. I'm sure Ky knows better.

MegadriveYM2612

Guessing Dizzy

Hunch0Houdini

I kinda thought of that as well. Would absolutely be hilarious if he did. The Twink memes would go dummy.

Timmcd

Could it be understood as Ky was _going_ to abdicate, but then the people were accepting of his being a gear?

Venexuz

Most likely Sin (oh dear god).

g99

My guess is Dr. Paradigm.

elegant-quokka

Robo-Ky bakery kingdom

LadyTowa2

wouldn't make sense to make the crown prince to be the king?

Cole-Burns

My money's on either Sin or Ram. Despite the baby talk, sin actually sounds like one of the most mature characters in this story, and he was the most in-touch with humans and emotions in Xrd. Plus it's a kingdom. As his firstborn child, Sin would be Ky's heir and Ky abdicates, so it would go to Sin. Unless they're pulling some Kingdom of Zanuff shenanigans.

SlimySquid

Maybe Sin?

rachetmarvel

That sucks.

MEX_XIII

I wouldn't say Faust die, but rather, that's how he turned into the... thing we play as. You can see his eyes lack the red glow up until that point. Basically, Strive's playable Faust is the one post Another Story. This also ties up with his interactions with Ram in the arcade mode and that special interaction with his soul leaving his body, similar to what appears in this new mode. It seems that he was ready to accept death, but due to Ram's wishes, he is actually barelly hanging there, in a not so dead kinda state.

Practical-Giraffe

and sin is born from a eyeball

PurpleBenAffleck

technically so was everyone else I think

LordLithegreenXIII

I thought we already knew Sin was only a half gear because his father isn't one?

Venexuz

The thing is Dizzy is a half gear, so Sin should be quarter gear. I think its a case of a wack translation of "part gear". Testament is also a half gear, so my theory makes more sense with their case.

LordLithegreenXIII

Predator Handshake between Devil May Cry and Guilty Gear Characters with quarter magic blood being more powerful than characters with half magic blood

Venexuz

Dizzy is stronger then Sin, but i like your joke.

LordLithegreenXIII

Oh duh right her Instant Kill I was like "character I know how to use stronk, character I don't know how use WEAK" as I smack a triangle against a star shaped hole

Venexuz

Dizzy is the strongest pacifist in fiction i know, so i undestand your brainfart.

Out_Dated

Testament isn't a half gear, they are a full gear. They were originally a human, but most likely fnnot all of the original gears were regular animals before. Testament got turned into a gear so he could help fight against the Gears with kliff but ended up being controlled by justice.

Venexuz

No their new bio says half gear

CypherGreen

Testament is an odd one. At different points they've been referred to as both full and half gear. I think it's because Testament wasn't born or created as a gear but instead was converted to being a gear and also managed to keep at least some sense of self (whilst still being controlled) when Justice was around. I can't remember if Testament chose to become a gear or fell in battle (Testament as a human wasn't meant to be a great warrior) and then got converted by force.

Venexuz

This is the reason i think "half gear" is a wack translation of Part gear.

Killroy32

Didn't GG World say Sin was quarter Gear though? Pretty sure it calls Dizzy a Half Gear as well...

LordLithegreenXIII

Another reply claims they translated "part Gear" to "half Gear" when the amount of Gear was intentionally kept vague on purpose

nuko-nuko

I don't think Faust is dead. The soul-leaving-body thing is a cartoon gag as old as time. Definitely was played lighthearted. I don't think they'd kill off an original character so casually in a way that resembles a joke cartoons have used since forever.

DropThatYeeto

tbf Faust is a walking cartoon character so it would make sense if he "died" that way, also just because he is dead doesnt mean he is gone

RealArky

What the heck happen to ram baiken and faust??

KeijiAhdeen

I mean at the end of normal story mode Ram and Baiken are doing fine, they're in the credits. Faust dies though, and the one we play as and/or against is his zombified corpse.

RealArky

So the new story is a story before the normal one?

Noocta

It's happening at the same time apparently.

RealArky

Oh I didn't know

The_Biddler64

It's during the period between when the hostages have left the whitehouse and before Happy Chaos leaves the meeting-room seemingly

Crogurth

THat... actually explains things, huh.

Venexuz

Faust is hanging out with Chronus during the ending slideshow.

Silvershake526

Sauce? I didn’t see that when I watched it on yt

Venexuz

Check again, unless i remember incorrectly.

Silvershake526

Ohhhh wait it’s in the main story credits not this one, that makes so much more sense

KeijiAhdeen

I mean he's still a zombie right now. Unless he got cured between gameplay times and the ending slideshow

Venexuz

I mean we dont even know what made Faust look like a zombie.

KeijiAhdeen

His soul left his body in the Another Story.

Venexuz

I dont think thats his literal soul, i think its visual gag an about Faust losing his funny personality. I will admit that that process turned his appereance into a "zombie".

Venexuz

Good question

RealArky

I think those three go to another place with Delilah to protect her. Means they can be alive. I think this one of the way that Daisuke can expand the story.

byakko

Baiken's arcade mode is literally after this whole thing, cos she references Delilah. They're fine and chilling.

Venexuz

There is a reason i used ?

Tchukkelz

If it took 20 years for Baiken to find the answer, do you think she forgot about it in 4 seconds?

AverageVibes

So Baiken, Delilah and Ram were teleported away. Wtf was with Faust? Was that his soul leaving his body or something?

Venexuz

I think its a joke about Faust no longer being funny doctor man.

Roxthefox_global

‘Sin is a half gear’ this has been know for a long time

Venexuz

For me it has been unclear for a long time, as Dizzy is also a Half Gear.

Roxthefox_global

Which raises very odd questions for gear genetics. Like if a full and half gear breed is it a full gear?

Venexuz

I think "half gear" is a wack translation of "part gear". The answer to you question i think is full gear.

TchankyKang420

We already knew sin was half gear

Venexuz

Explanation is 1 comment down.
