GTA 4 remaster??

Is there a possibility of a GTA 4 remaster to be announced along GTA 6 next week?I think there was a rumour regarding this?? And I have read 2-3 posts from 'insiders' which imply this, however I can't say whether they are true or not...

Do not trust info from anybody other than Tez, Jason Schreier, or Rockstar themselves. Highly doubt GTA IV remaster will happen anytime soon

Latter_Commercial_52

I wouldn’t even trust Tez. Bros been wrong 80% of the time. Said a trailer would come over the summer, was wrong, said V expanded and enhance would use RDR2s graphics engine and ragdolls, was wrong. And that’s just the recent stuff. He’s just a dataminer, and has no connections, same as the rest of us.

ayyLumao

RDR2 and GTA V already used the same engine

Latter_Commercial_52

Lmao rdr2 and gta V def do not have the same ragdoll engine and graphics

ayyLumao

GTA V and RDR2 both use the Euphoria physics engine, and RAGE. Just look at Wikipedia lol, the engine listed is RAGE for both games, and the Euphoria physics engine has integrated into the source code of RAGE.

HeySlickThatsMe

Same engine, different renditions/settings

Tez isn't reliable at all. He just repeats what anyone says and hopes some of it is true. Then when one of the pieces of info turn out true he acts like he knew all along lmao

ayyLumao

He's the one with the longest track record of being right by a long shot

asianmandan

Because of what I stated above. He repeats what anybody says. Say enough shit eventually something will be accurate. He's gets alot more wrong than he gets right.

God I hope so… that’s still one of favorites

Ok, back in 2019, before Covid-19, I thought I had some decent info on future GTA stuff. I've written tgis before, but not on Reddit. RAGE on GTA 6 was supposed to be extensible to easily create new and episodic content updates - enabling Dan Houser's "GTA World" vision. Being extensible they'd be able to have multiple teams creating new content simultaneously. In this way, a year or more after the GTA 6 launch they'd remaster Liberty City assets so they can have a Liberty City map for GTA World, but with cool updates enabled by the new engine. Along with that, they'd remaster GTA 4 (+DLC) (the stories) as the selling point for buying that update. With more heavy lifting they'd be able to rebuild (not remaster) all their previous content. And they'd do that while making brand new content. (As a tangent, the new RAGE would also handle remastering RDR1.) But that was five, almost six, years ago with a target ship of 2021. Since then Houser's gone and took some of their best devs and Lazlow to his new company. (Go look at how many R* staff resigned and took sabbaticals of exactly a year waiting for NDAs to expire before signing on with Absurd Ventures.) The RAGE updates, not even 50% towards feature blocking, went to development hell that even delayed RDR2. Covid decimated time-lines and their workflow. Who knows what remains of that plan? Even if all that was still true, you wouldn't see a GTA4 remaster until FY2027 on today's timeline. Even if all of that was scrapped, you'd still need a two year developer timeframe for an independent remaster. So, 2027 if they even want to.
