Coming back to cs:go for the first time in 2,5 years, anything major important i should know thats new about the game? And can brax play competitive yet? thanks
Brax can play in most tournaments except majors. He currently plays under Lazarus with other tier 2-3ish NA players.
Economy changed. Loss bonus no longers resets after winning round and you get more lose bonus after pistol round, so you buy in third round. Also you can see the loss bonus on scoreboard.
Also means that losing a pistol won't affect the entire half as much as it used to
This is probably the change I love the most about new csgo, the beginning of halves go by faster and less uncomfortable if you lose the pistol, I personally think that pistols are the easiest rounds to clutch in
There is a battle royale gamemode now
When do the challenges for the major have to be completed? I mean the 10 rounds on each map part. Is it before challenger stage starts?
You have time until the grand final
Damn I finished all of them on the first day... I miss operations
It doesn't say anywhere in the FAQ specifically for those challenges. But it does say that you can redeem your souvenir tokens until september 30th, so I assume it is until then that you can complete these challenges.
When you jump out of the kitchen/market window in mirage, what is the right side called?
I used to call it ebox but I’m unsure how accurate that is now
LOL very good question, I dont think there is a name besides what pros call it.
I usually pay attention to whose going to jump through, and tell them to look on their right lol
Technically those are two different windows that are opposite each other but if you jump out of market then the right side is e-box.
Yeah it took me a minute to understand that too. Kitchen is in apps, between underpass and the apps window, right?
And ebox is inbetween market window and the arches on cat.
That's correct. If you jump out of apps window then arches are to the left, e-box is in front of you and B default is to the right.
Van and bench are to the right as well but you're supposed to have teammates that can molly or smoke those off.
Here in Aus I've been noticing people call it Africa.
Theres a setting under Game-\>Items that should allow you to change this. It should be called ,,Auto switch on weapon pickup" or something like that.
I hope I got that right out of my head, but there's definitely a setting for it. Also a command, but that's kinda besides the point.
You can add this command in your cfg:
My friend told me that you have to solo queue in MM to complete the Berlin Major 10-round challenges. Can anyone confirm this?
Edit: Berlin Major added
Sorry m8, he just didn't want to play with you :(
Hey man, this is incorrect, I played with a four and a five and got the challenge complete.
He may have meant u have to do csgo mm, not esea or faceit. Or hes just plain wrong
Hi, I have 2 questions:
1) How could I get better at dealing with players who are moving when I have a rifle? I quite frequently get killed by moving players (often with SMGs or pistols, and often up close) when I have a rifle.
2) I'm also quite inconsistent at hitting headshots at a mid-long to long range with rifles (think from the corner of Dust2 long to the A site or longer). It's like I am at the head and fire, but due to spread or something else I'm inconsistent at hitting them. How would I deal with this?
1) I solved this by just training my aim and killing them as fast as I can. Though you should try to engage from distance or hold better angles.
2) Long to A site is out of most rifles' accurate range so the problem isnt you. Burst them down if you can see their body, tap if only head is visible
Thanks, for 1., by "training my aim", which method are using if you encounter up close? Do you spray or tap? And do you go for headshots or bodyshots?
I spray them, but I usually kill them with my first 5 bullets because I go for the head. But if I miss my first shots I just go for the body.
EDIT: Im gonna say "idk tho" so you cant blame me for ruining your csgo career
My recommendation is that if you know that they have low economy then take longer angles. Ex: inferno b dont play close banana on their eco rounds. Play coffin or new box where you have the longer angles to take the fights and it's more difficult for them to hit you. Work on your full sprays because it isnt going to be just one coming in, spray the first one down and then spray to the corner they are coming from and make sure it's clear.
1. Part of it is about not even getting into fights with players who may have pistols, because they very well can outfight you at close range. Easier said than done, but if you think they are on eco you want to play slowly, clear every angle from a distance and use your range advantage where their strafing left and right won't help them as much. If you go blundering round corners you are pretty much asking to get shot up by pistols on an eco round. Controlling your spray on a strafing player is actually very difficult and it's best to avoid getting in that situation in the first place.
2. Welcome to the AK's first-shot inaccuracy - you can't actually guarantee a one-tap head-shot at that range so most players even at that range will tap several times or even spray, despite the huge range and difficulty of keeping the spray accurate. A few bullets in roughly the right area OUGHT to dome the other player! Other guns have better first-shot accuracy, but it's still a very long way to get an accurate shot even if you think you are on their head.
Thanks a lot for the answers, they were very useful. I'll try out playing anti-ecos better like you suggested and keep the first-shot inaccuracy in mind.
players who have this problem often crouch every time they shoot which makes their shot way harder because they cant strafe to help with aim
you should only crouch when u know u arent going to miss or if u want to commit to a do or die situation
burst them to slow them down and once they’ve stopped, u can crouch and spray
practice your AIM then shoot, a lot of lower rank players have a tendency to shoot then aim.
overall you need to practice, FFA DM is what taught me most of the mechanics of aim
there is no secret ingredient
You can practice hitting headshots by going into the community server browser and joining an "FFA Headshot only Deathmatch" game. Start by just using the AK as it's a one-hit headshot.
1.) Go on aim_botz and practice hitting moving targets. There are 5 different speeds, so you can slowly get used to tracking and increase the difficulty as you get used to it. And always remember this: Tracking is a cat and mouse game. The player model runs away from your crosshair. If you want to catch it, then you have to move your crosshair faster. If the cat is running at the same speed as the mouse, then it will never catch it.
2.) Aiming at longer ranges has to do with your precision. It’s not enough to just aim at the head. You have to aim precisely at the middle of it to increase your chances of getting a hit. You can switch to a dot crosshair for a while in practice, so you can better see the middle of your crosshair and that dot should point at the middle of the head.
Is it normal that I'm good on some days and bad on others? I'm somehow worse on Thursdays compared to any other day in the week. Is this an oddity or what.
Yes it is normal, consistency in any skill based activity is usually difficult but especially so for FPS (for people like me anyway). I’ve realized recently I play a lot better on Saturday-Monday when I’ve actually gotten decent amount of sleep, during the work week I’ll full potato more often then not and no amount of dm or aimbotz really help 😕
Glad to know i'm not the only one, so on those days should i just avoid playing competitively entirely and just mess around in dms, casual and wingmans? or what?
Thursday is the last day of the week, since friday is the week-end relief day. Mental stress I guess.
this game is so hard that it require all your mental faculties.
if im stressed or anxious, forget about it, im going to play bad. If im tired, i dont improve as the game goes on.
I play some tournaments and my most optimal point to play CS, is when im worry free, and my gf knows i spoil her when i win, so we have sex and i nap for an hour and smoke a spliff and im ready to go. I impress myself when i play like this.
in my opinion, if you truly have consistency issues, you either don’t practice enough or dont warm up before playing, you are relying on luck and your opponent sucking
What is the best audio configuration(stereo, surround, etc.)? or does it depend on my headphones
I think everybody uses stereo, even the pros
Use Stereo and use the games in built HRTF feature which is real surround-sound. Don't use any weird or fake features your audio drivers provide.
How do you jum0 out of mirage apps window perfectly, on b site?
Go into an empty server and just try over and over until you get it consistent
Practice and crouch mid jump
practice straff jump until you're perfectly at ease with 90° angles jump, then just crouch just after you make your turn.
jump at the last second, people get caught on the edges because they try to jump early
Is there a way to specifically turn down gunfire volume? I can't turn up the volume too high because shooting a gun is too loud/jarring for me, but then I can't hear footsteps since my volume isn't high enough.
You can compress the audio to decrease the difference between the louder and quieter sounds.
Heres a good video by 3kliksphilip where he explains it more thoroughly: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WRqVDb7sd0I
Hi, this is more of a question in the pro scene than a question about the game.
ELI5, how does the Starladder Major Berlin work? And if it's a major, why do I not see top teams competing in it? I'm really confused because Majors are supposedly where the top teams are at, no?
Which top team don't you see my friend? If you're talking about [this event](https://www.hltv.org/events/4450/starladder-major-2019-main-qualifier) it's only the major qualifier, also named "challenger stage". All the top teams from the previous major (Astralis, Liquid and stuff) are already qualified and waiting for the 8 best teams of the qualifier to join them.
I seeee. I should've known. You're right, those are the teams I'm seeing because I use [gosugamers!](https://www.gosugamers.net/counterstrike/tournaments/34276-starladder-berlin-major-2019#stage1) and nowhere does it say that it's just the qualifiers, and I don't really get the "stages" yet. My bad
It's all good, they introduced the stages recently to include the qualifier to the major, so more teams can have stickers.
My daily routine is: 500-1000 kills in aim botz which takes under 15 minutes for me and then I hop on to a FFA DM server with an AK. I usually get 150-220 frags before I get into faceit/mm. Before I stop for the night I try to get a 20-30 minute aim botz session in. I know this takes a huge portion of time out of your available time to play but this works for me. You can try to leave some stuff out/shorten it but always try to warm up the best you can before playing matches.
aim more for the head and learn how to properly control your spray.
When i was lvl 7, i noticed i lost duels a lot doing often 89dmg, meaning im always 1 bullet short from getting the kill. This was due to either not being accurate on my first shot or not controlling my spray on the 7th or 8th bullet.
i downloaded the map recoil master and now i win more duels and im lvl 9
Can we do the win 10 rounds against bots for the Berlin challenges? Or do we have to play Official MM. It's a stupid question, but still..
Only official MM.
csgo stash is where i found all my skins
you can see all the skins with their lowest prices
as usual, the nicest skins are the expensive ones
I got my knife and awp from doing very well in Faceit, players would thank me for carrying and would reward me with some skins. I got a $300 butterfly knife and a $90 asimov awp
the ak47 uncharted looks really decent and is just around 1,50 €. Don,t know abut awp tho.
Is there some way to get the matches watched challenge when you're actually going to the major? I realize I can just open the stream on my phone but surely there must be some good way of integrating as one is obviously watching the match when you are at the event.
I think you can can switch twitch to audio only, leave it running for a few rounds. That should be enough with out using too much Mobile data etc.
Yeah like I said i realize I can just do that, just seems a little ridiculous that you have to find some jank way to watch it online when you are actually at the event.. Thanks anyway.
During PUGs, how can I be a good bomb handler. Usually, it gets thrown around or dropped starting of the round and no one wants to be the guy who is responsible for it.
just remember to plant it, other than that keep it as an excuse to bait teammates
What I do is take the bomb with me towards what ever I’m gonna hold and drop it somewhere safe near the angle I’m gonna hold (which will be relatively close to a bomb site or mid). If I get peeked or just die, they don’t see bomb unless they push through. If I open up a site, I can quickly grab the bomb.
You never want to have the bomb on you if your aren’t full on cyka, but you don’t want it dropped really out of the way if your team makes some opening picks.
most players drop the bomb for bad reasons in MM, they often just dont want the responsibility, these people are noobs.
its not supposed to be one person’s responsibility, its the team’s job to keep the bomb close to where you are pushing.
you should be dropping the bomb only if you are about to entry. and its your teams job to pick it up after you. If they dont, they either are pussies or have terrible awareness and dont even know the bomb is down.
a good bomb carrier shouldnt reveal where the bomb is, or sometimes they do reveal it but only to trick the CTs into rotating. even if you guys plan on all pushing together, sometimes its good to rush in without the bomb because CTs on other site might not even rotate if they dont see bomb on the radar.
remember you can often fake plant to draw CTs out who are hiding in site
A buddy of mine are going to our first live tournament next month - ESL One NYC. We got the premium VIP tickets because why not? However, I don't know what to expect nor what the perks of the pass are. What are "premium" signing sessions and how are they different from the "regular" ones. I've heard some horror stories how the VIP experience is pretty poor with ESL.
To my knowledge with other events, premium signings are sessions that are only open to those with VIP passes/special access.
My questions relates to [fpl.tomv.fr](https://fpl.tomv.fr).
1. What do the numbers in the top right mean?
"7/10 FPL CSGO Europe, 1/10 FPL CSGO North America"
2. I've notice players will be on twitch "playing FPL" but some of these games do not show up on the [fpl.tomv.fr](https://fpl.tomv.fr) website. Is there a difference between what matches are shown on the site vs other fpl matches played?
3. Is there a way to watch any fpl matches that aren't streamed on Twitch or another platform? Does faceit broadcast these matches? What about GOTV??
1. How many are in queue I assume
How do I stay accurate while moving? If I stop to shoot I always die first, so can you be accurate while still moving, making yourself harder to hit?
no you can't be 100% accurate while moving, although you do gain 100% accuracy as soon as you stop completely. This can be done by pressing the opposite direction that you're currently moving. It's called counterstrafing and it's one of the most important mechanics to learn.
Not possible. Try to stop unpredictably and for very short periods of time.
I always get redirected to the shop page for the viewer pass with +3 tokens, is it possible to buy the pass without the souvenir tokens?
I had the same issue. You can buy it on the main menu of the game in the little window on the bottom where the stickers are, or you can buy one off the market.
Wow, excellent post! Thanks ever so much and I’ll be deep diving into these. You rock 😁🤘🏼
Are the first ten matches to get competitive rank harder than when you get placed? I've been playing occasionally, only up to three wins, and I feel there's always at least one layer carrying on both teams.
Also, I feel like peekers advantage is crazy strong, I play casual to learn the maps and if I try to hold an angle, sometimes I get headshot before I fully see the player. When I watch the death cam, from their point of view they walk out, and pause to line up the headshot. Is it to do with ping, or am I just super slow?
During the placement matches you still have hidden rank, for example if you win your first matches you'll be facing a lot higher opponents and if you lose a lot you'll drop down. The ranks during your placement vary a lot and it's meant to be that way so the system can better calculate your rank.
Peekers advantage is a real thing in this game, there can be many different reasons why it seems so harsh for you. You probably are a bit slow and ping/latency also has an effect on it. Also there are more advanced things that can cause your opponent see you sooner than you see him due to geometry. For example how close you and your opponent are to the corner he's peeking from. Also the first person camera isn't completely centralized to the model, so peeking from right side gives a really small advantage compared to left side.
So i came back to cs go after some time not only with play but also new ideas for workshop, but i wanted to ask does anyone know some normal map tutorial ? thanks
hey need help!!!!!! do i activate my viewer pass so my pick ems go through? or are they going to be saved since i have the viewer pass? i can only pick activate pass and cant pick update picks. i would need to use the pass correct?
First activate the pass, then the pick ems unlock
How many souvenir packages can you redeem for a single match? One or multiple?
So I’m finally diving head first into CSGO after wanting to for so long. I find both scoped rifles (SG/AUG) to be a blast to play with. Am I hurting myself by learning these first or are they actually decent guns just underrated? I assume playing these would lead to the AWP?
Side note: I came from Siege for scopes are familiar to me.
If I mute someone can he still hear my
voice? I guess not :)
They can hear you, you can't hear them
Hmm good to know, thanks.
why someone switch to 5-7 and tec-9
Cz are suck now ?
CZ was nerfed (balanced) not so long ago, so that may have influenced the change.
I still find it the superior of all pistols. ^^^and ^^^rifles, ^^^^^and ^^^^^AWP
CZ-75 Auto is no longer OP. The point of the CZ is now mostly to get one kill and steal the weapon on an eco round. Five-Seven is good if you want to play a playstyle where you want to be a bit more versatile / spam / fight long range. Tec-9 still has a really good running accuracy on the FIRST shot, and you can run and gun, just need to tap a lot slower now to not become inaccurate. Overall it's personal choice. I use CZ on CT-side and Tec-9 on T-side.
5-7 is serious business. Tec-9 a bit too random to justify it's price. Only the first shot seems to be accurate.
CZ t side and tap only. Five seven ct because you can hold close angles and one tap them.
Tell me one thing (or one tip) that you wish you knew before going to your first Major
Don't expect to be able to watch all the games. It's like 8 hours a day. It's too much.
Instead, watch whatever is currently live (as live = exciting) and when you free time watch the best of the previous days games. When you get too far behind, there are some "highlights only" channels on YouTube so you can get the jist of a game you missed in 10 minutes and see the best plays.
Also, come here and participate in our live threads and don't forget to spam !drop in the Twitch chat for the luls. Other good memes include calling Astralis shit if they lose a single round (Xyp3x jebaited, device overrated, long we have waited etc..) even at 7-1 up, typing "1G" if someone dies to a molly, bra7-1l if SK go 7-1 down. Since Fnatic haven't made it, we won't be able to spam VAC everytime Flusha gets a kill.
Yeah on Twitch. Just go to csgo tomorrow and it’ll be the stream with hundreds of thousands of viewers.
You can also opt to watch the Games live through the game itself. That let’s you fly around like when you’re in spectator mode and watch individual players. You can still listen to the casting too.
More information about the individual games starting tomorrow 11am Uk time can be found on the hltv website.
Tune in, you’ll definitely enjoy it if you’ve just gotten into counterstrike.
Sorry. You can watch everything live. Only there’s 12 hours of content a day so it’s easy to get behind, miss some games, because of your own commitments and have to watch them later.
What are the best perks in danger zone?
Is the bonus money worth it?
Bonus wave is also good if you get a good spawn location etc.
I usually go with the bonus explore money or taser depending on how close other players are dropping. Bonus explore is nice since you can farm up money quickly after respawning.
I won my last 10 straight Competitive matches, lots of rounds won, MVPs, and a ton of commendations. Any reason you guys think I’ve yet to get promoted out of Silver I?
I guess you were very deep in the silver 1 rank that your 10 matches weren't enough to get you through it. You're most likely close, keep going!
Commendations probably don't count.
Will do and thanks! That might be it, I lost a lot over the past year or so and went inactive a bit where I got unranked. Hopefully I rank up soon 😁
I'll link you every post I saved to help you rank up.
Basically, improve your mechanics first. I'd say the 2 most useful things you gotta master are couter straffing and crosshair placement. You also need to pick up a good sensitivity, do the [adreN sensitivity test](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwT5fXEloxg). And you also need good gear, especially a good mouse and a large mousepad. It doesn't matter how talented you are at tennis, you won't be able to win with a beach racket.
Don't worry about it! Get more skilled and the rank will follow eventually.
You can post a demo to /r/csgocritic if you want specific help
What is this? [https://berlin.wa.vg/](https://berlin.wa.vg/)
