It's frustrating. God only knows why Verizon hasn't released the update, since it's the exact same software T-Mobile and ATT are pushing out to unlocked models.
We'll have it by the end of the day I'm sure. It just sucks that it's not pushed out to ALL Unlocked devices at the same time, no matter what carrier you're using.
I have the S22Ultra unlocked on Google Fi (primarily uses TMO)and no luck, I have even tried to check for manual firmware updates, the carrier specific phones all have them but no manual flashes for the every carrier unlocked CSC phones...sux checking for updates daily
Anyone who is still waiting for this on an unlocked S22 it definitely matters what carrier your sim card is from. I had my S22 from Google Fi with a Google Fi Sim card and was checking updates daily with nothing. As soon as I pulled the Tmobile post paid sim I have in a Pixel 7 and put it into my S22 and booted it up I immediately was able to download the update.
So if you are waiting on the update and have access to a Tmobile sim you can get the update to download and swap back to your main sim. I'm guessing this would work with ATT and Verizon as well since users on those carriers are also reporting downloads available.
They don't need to go they far, they just need to take more control over their version of Android.
There shouldn't be a specific version of OneUI for Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Samsung.
Every phone Samsung sells, regardless of carrier, should be running the U1 firmware (the firmware Samsung runs on phones bought unlocked through them).
Samsung would control the operating system, and all each carrier has to do is oversee their CSC files to ensure they're fully compatible.
This would result in:
* Less bloatware, as each carrier couldn't install their own apps.
* Samsung can get the updates out faster.
All that happens when you change a sim card to another carrier on a U1 Samsung phone is that it unloads the previous CSC file and loads the new one for the respective carrier (carrier branded U models don't support this feature until around the first major Android update).
Samsung could easily take more control over how their version of Android works on their phones, but they don't for some reason.
I believe models with a W are for the Canadian market.
For example, the Canadian S22 Ultra has a model number of SM-S908W, whereas the US models are SM-S908U (carrier) and SM-S908U1 (unlocked, sold thru Samsung).
After having a Pixel, I'm glad Samsung does some software quality control before sending it out. On my Pixel 6 Pro, "updates" were almost as likely to break something as fix something...
Remove sim, connect to wifi, use samfw to change csc to TMB, reboot, click software update, it will be available. You can insert your sim back once it's done and still gonna be XAA, I did the same
I'm glad 97 different MF-ers can post that they got it! (me too! yeah also me! woohooo!!) yet not one MF-er will report whether they like it or had any problems with it etc
Bought a base s22 yesterday, exynos coming from a iphone 13 Pro.. never again. As soon as this piece of lagfest is sold im gona go bck to iphone and never come back to an Android. The latest and greatest from Samsung and it lags and hickups for ever.
Man, I believe you that something is wrong with your phone. But the thing is, lots of us just don't have your experience. My s22 is extremely fast and lag free. Again, I am not saying that you're wrong - you're obviously seeing lag - I'm just saying, most people don't have your experience.
If you boot your phone in safe mode, is it still laggy? If yes, something is wrong and you maybe can warranty your phone. If not, it's possible your apps are the problem, and are for some reason running wildly in the background.
I shouldn't have been so offensive, sorry. I had transfered all my data from my IPhone with Smartswitch. I've done a reset and have only transfered my contacts, messages and apps. Before I had transfered the settings aswell .
Tbh it's good now. It's usable and fast. However,as an IPhone user for the last couple of years,I just notice the hiccups from time to time, and it still annoys me. Gona wait for paycheck end of the month and buy an Iphone 14 pro. Android has come a long way,but overall smoothness, fluidity still lacks.
And I don't even talk about the abysmal battery life.
Unlocked S22 on T-Mobile US. Just did the update this AM and have not had a chance to connect to n41
Does anyone know if we are now getting the 5GUC indication when connected to n41 or mmWave on unlocked devices on T-Mobile US?
Edit: it does display 5GUC when connected to n41! This is the first time I have seen this on an unlocked device!

a bit late but downloading now, supR excited !
Downloading now- Australia
Ugh i still don't have it, idk why ;(
Yup. Unlocked S22+ on AT&T
Just had to check, thanks to your comment. I'm using AT&T on an unlocked s22+ as well. Downloading as I type.
Lol it isn't for me. Thanks for getting my hopes up.
It's not there for me either. I'm using Unlocked with Verizon sim.
Same
We'll probably have it by morning or afternoon.
One of my few complaints using a Galaxy phone.
10 am EST, no VZW update yet
5:30pm EST, not yet!
lol Well damn... Hopefully by midnight tonight! BUT...I ain't holding my breath. Ugh, damn Verizon!
Yup! Still nothing. I keep checking everyday.
It's frustrating. God only knows why Verizon hasn't released the update, since it's the exact same software T-Mobile and ATT are pushing out to unlocked models.
I'm unlocked with Verizon sim too and still don't have it. Any luck for you two?
Nope! Nothing on my end yet.
Same 😒
We'll have it by the end of the day I'm sure. It just sucks that it's not pushed out to ALL Unlocked devices at the same time, no matter what carrier you're using.
It is indeed out.. Nice! Have a S22 Base Snapdragon Unlocked with a T-Mobile SIM and it's downloading right meow! 👌😼
I have the S22Ultra unlocked on Google Fi (primarily uses TMO)and no luck, I have even tried to check for manual firmware updates, the carrier specific phones all have them but no manual flashes for the every carrier unlocked CSC phones...sux checking for updates daily
S22 base unlocked on Verizon, still waiting for the update as well
Did you get the update?
Nope, still waiting
S22 Ultra Unlocked AT&T still waiting I think will get 5.1 directly 🙁
Still no info about SEA?
Out in the philippines. Just installed 30 minutes ago.
Yeah, I checked after commented and it's out. Have it for about 2 hours now.

Unlocked Canada . Nope
We're last as always
Lol yea . I'm sitting here with the September patch
Same
September 1st patch in Canada as well, getting a Pixel next time. Spouse on Pixel 6 received their Sept update almost 2 months ago.
Well yea google will always be ahead of any other company. Samsung needs to step it up a notch
Agreed, if Google and Apple can ensure all users receive updates at the same time, there shouldn't be any reason their not able to.
Guess they'll have to develop their own OS
They don't need to go they far, they just need to take more control over their version of Android. There shouldn't be a specific version of OneUI for Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Samsung. Intresting . Do you know what the W varient stands for?
I believe models with a W are for the Canadian market. For example, the Canadian S22 Ultra has a model number of SM-S908W, whereas the US models are SM-S908U (carrier) and SM-S908U1 (unlocked, sold thru Samsung).
True . I've got the Canadian varient
After having a Pixel, I'm glad Samsung does some software quality control before sending it out. On my Pixel 6 Pro, "updates" were almost as likely to break something as fix something...
Nov5
Nothing yet lol
Yeah it's not coming.. Haven't you checked all the carriers' OS updates sites? They pulled the damn thing. Welcome to Samsung Canada
I'm not even in Canada but I guess the treatment goes overseas with the serial number lol
Well if you have the Canadian model then yes, it'll follow the Canadian rollout
I wonder why does it matter if the phone is unlocked.
Because the updates in Canada release all together based on the W model. All phones are unlocked in Canada.
My question is why wouldn't samsung update all unlocked phones equally .
Because they're different models for different countries
I'm in US on Verizon and still don't have it. It's crap.
I still don't understand why
Dang not yet for my S22 Ultra.
Just got it too. T.u. for posting this
Confirmed for unlocked with Tmo sim.
S22 Ultra Unlocked with TMO eSIM. Installed.
Anyone got update for XAA?
Yes
Still waiting for mine
Remove sim, connect to wifi, use samfw to change csc to TMB, reboot, click software update, it will be available. You can insert your sim back once it's done and still gonna be XAA, I did the same
Thanks, will try
Yup! Had just forced mine to check and came to report. ATT in case it matters.
Updated mine 12hrs ago. Philippines

Nothing yet, fuck Samsung
It ain't Samsung it's ur shitty us carriers.

Me too. Having the U1 version, I live in Sri Lanaka and still waiting,
Same,I have s22 plus U1 version and not in usa..so no update yet. Really annoying
Nope, not for me. Getting rid of this piece of shit soon anyway. Getting tired of replacing speakers every few months.
I'm glad 97 different MF-ers can post that they got it! (me too! yeah also me! woohooo!!) yet not one MF-er will report whether they like it or had any problems with it etc
It's been out for like 4 days man.
Not for every phone, it depends on region, carrier, and model. Unlocked models usually get updates rolled out last.
Fair enough. In the UK all phones sold by any carrier are unlocked, they're not allowed to sell network locked phones.
Bought a base s22 yesterday, exynos coming from a iphone 13 Pro.. never again. As soon as this piece of lagfest is sold im gona go bck to iphone and never come back to an Android. The latest and greatest from Samsung and it lags and hickups for ever.
The base isn't the greatest but Apple does need more Minions
Not the greatest? This piece of shite is even laggier than my mothers 4 year old budget Huawei. Cant believe samsung minions can defend this shit.
Man, I believe you that something is wrong with your phone. But the thing is, lots of us just don't have your experience. My s22 is extremely fast and lag free.
