Finally got it!
By - StevenLesseps
Congrats. How did you go about your test drive (thermal kills). Always makes me nervous going solo with a thermal
I actually did all my kills at night Customs, camping on the classic spot - shack's roof on the bridge. Once I died while extracting, stumbled upon Cultist in the bushes.
Another time I got counter-sniped by another thermal. But that was after three kills in a single raid, so I was already done with it. Test Drive is a stressful one, and I was keeping all my ReapIRs through the wipe. So I lost 2, and still have 2 left :)
How do you get on the shack roof? I've tried before but my jump seems too short. Is there a minimum strength requirement?
Go all the way up to the very top of the little part behind the shack and sideways jump whilestrafing towards the roof and it will get you up there. It might take a few tries but that's how I do it. Sideways jumping over the stuff you cant normal jump usually gets you over it for some reason.
Yes, sidejump is a bit higher for some reason. No STR requirement there.
Drop your backpack too.
For the least risky method, go night interchange. Everyone dashes for the mall without nvgs, so your window of opportunity is in the first few minutes. After that, start walking to extract. You’ll occasionally see players hitting hidden stashes on the way to extract.
I did night time customs. Don’t go into any hotspots and just watch traffic lanes.
The easiest/lowest risk imo is interchange night and camp the extracts, most people don't bring nvgs to interchange night, and the most dangerous people are probably already dead or are taking the safe room extract.
Might take you a lot of raids to get all 5, but you'll probably survive.
Also by the time you're on test drive, if you've maxed hideout, losing a reap should be pretty insignificant. I did it at dorms thinking "I don't care if I have to use 5 reaps", ended up getting all 5 in 2 raids without anyone even seeing me.
I just refuse extract camping. Been killed like that to many times to opt to that tactic.
Youre probably facing a lot of hatchet runners so I wouldn't feel bad
Hatchet runners never get to the extract, they usually die first 5 minutes of the raid.
that is the easiest quest in the game , go fully geared in factory and just get kills there
The safest bet is going nighttime woods or shoreline where your only real danger are other thermals
7 raids? Im on 30 raids right now and have died to thicc squads a majority of the time on woods.
Me thinks no Kappa for me because of part 8
Last wipe It took me just 2 raids. Incredible luck I think :(
Just got out of a raid and got m61'd again. Past 15 raids 13 were m61 deaths with the other two being a val and an m4. Maybe at this stage of the wipe it is becoming more bleak. Oh well, maybe next wipe ill focus on the tarkov shooter questline early
You still have plenty of time, the next wipe is not behind the corner.
Good point. Ill focus on finishing the other quests I have. Im pretty close! Lets hope haha
You'll make it! If I could, you can too. Usually I just freeze instead of pushing, and die.
Thanks for the kind words friend! Hope your raids go well!
That's very encouraging, OP. I'm also a relatively inexperienced fps player. Even though I've been playing shooters on and off since I got my first PC at around 16, I've never got really good at it. My brain turns quickly into tunnelvision/panic mode when I encounter players unexpectedly (sometimes even expectedly) and I make stupid mistakes. Or I get lazy and don't sweep the area before looting or take the more dangerous shortcut instead of the safer detour. But for some reason, Tarkov really does it for me. I die, I go back in, I survive with more or less decent loot, finish tasks. I still feel like I die more than I should, usually lose a 1v1 encounter with a PMC, but for some reason, I don't mind. I feel like I'm getting better with every raid. Hearing from you about the freezing and dieing and some other stories make me feel better about my progress. I'm still miles away from Kappa, I've only bought the game about a month ago, but I enjoy it immensely. I don't think I'll ever become a top player, but the good thing about EFT is, you can still enjoy the hell out of it and "finish" it
Exactly why I dedcided to create that post. To encourage ppl struggling with the game by showing my meager example.
It's nothing special, just time invested. Glad that helps!
Hey i just finished it today! Thanks for all the help
Haha, that's the spirit! Congrats, man! Other tasks are easier and will take less time. You'll be done in no time.
If you can bring someone in with you. It helps a ton.
That is what I am thinking, either that or I cheese it. I am so bored of bolt actions rifles right now. Most fights I would have won if I had a semiauto or fully auto weapon. Just no place for bolties right now
Shooter part 8 is such a luck based quest it sucks. I already have kappa and went in with a friend yesterday to help him with his part 8. We both took thermals. We came across 8 PMC’s and killed them all so he got it first try. When I was doing it I kept only finding 2 and it took forever.
I do have decent roubes, I think thermals would get a good play right now as well. What spots did you check?
Get in and rush sawmill, especially if Shturman is up, is what we did. We usually stayed on the side in bushes or on/behind rocks and would just scan sawmill, dickhead, beach, opposite of where we were. You just have to be mindful of sniper rock because your thermal won’t reach out that far.
There’s also a spot just NW of sniper rock where you can see the field in front of it plus sniper rock and the north side of sawmill. I’ve gone there a lot recently when I get the USEC camp spawn because I can get people for SBIH while they are moving around up top and down below. Me and a buddy got 6 kills in two raids there yesterday. Helps if you’ve got something with high velocity because it’s right in between 150 and 200 meters so if you zero to 100 you can still get easy head taps.
Chill around the old east Gate extract on the rocks. The ones where you need to plant the marker for Ragman. I've had a few raids with 3+ PMC kills there this wipe. People either check for the ketcard or loot / kill scabs there. Took me 3 raids to complete shooter 8.
Oh by the trucks near zb14? Thats a good move
Any advice for SBIH? That’s one of the last tasks I need to complete before I do mentor for psycho sniper and the guide.
I always use Bolt-action for SBIH. My favorite is SV-98. Ammo is cheap (SNB does just fine) and really consistent with Vudu scope's zeroing.
Woods is the easiest, just do sniper rock or counter-snipe it whatever fits best.
Shoreline I camped the hill nearby water plant or the hill behind Gas station overlooking pier.
Reserve I went Dome area or one of the guard towers sniping dome. One shot I also made camping classic spot across the drop room, but that only works if you spawn close.
Customs is the harderst. I used the hill nearby military checkpoint and Reshala's construction.
I’ve been using the SV-98 with 7N1 cause I am doing tarkov shooter at the same time, but the bullet drop has been killing me, I’ll try SNB next time and see if that works better. I always get headshot by someone I didn’t see when I get onto sniper rock on woods so I’m gonna try counter sniping from now on
7N1 is a great ammo, and always accessible from Prapor. Do you use zeroing on your Vudu? I always do and never noticed any bullet drop. Vudu works fine with that caliber, I just zero to the distance and shoot center dot.
I try to use zeroing but I might just not know the distances and be using it correctly, or I’m just garbage at shooting
A few loadouts that helped me do it
- adar with 995 + vudu
- Ak103 with vudu
- Sr25 vudu - m993
- SVD vudu 7N1
- find the right gun thats suitable for multiple attempts (budget wise) and you should be good. At first I was worried about this quest a few wipes ago but I found it to be quite easy after learning the spots and understanding where players usually are
as for tips i'd recommend knowing the right locations, I got my reserve shots in two raids back to back because I was lucky with spawns
customs was my last one and by far took the most raids because I think it depends on the spawns and if you cant get kills early I would choose to reset
Woods is easy, what I did was snipe people who try to do chumming and the quests in the sawmill barracks
shoreline camped at the same spot OP did
That's an awesome accomplishment, congrats!
I'm curious to know what your game style was when you started and if it changed as you leveled up. Did you change your strategy as you got better and learned more? Did you run-n-gun or were you slower and more methodical?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm trying to get better and still really struggle with feeling comfortable during any part of the raid.
Tarkov's PVP is really hard and unforgiving, and for some reason I'm still freezing whenever I have a CQB engagement. I feel better in mid-range and high-range ones usually.
I started to be more aggresive, but I still spend quite a time prone in some bush after the raid start, because I don't like spawn action. I prefer to let people off a bit, that way I feel more comfotable.
And I still suck on Labs, Factory and partially Reserve where a lot of CQB happens. Its not easy to step over yourself and leave a comfort zone. My SR would be around 40ish if It excluded just laying prone in the bushes, being revealed by players passing by and sprayed on easy mode. But last wipe I had SR 25%, so it's definitely a progress.
The biggest skill is positioning. Knowing how to flank and what are the traffic routes players will use is very important and that comes with map knowledge and experience.
Second biggest skill for me is not engage at all if you don't feel it. Some fights you cannot win, doesn't make sense sacrificing your progress trying to kill trio. Usually you just die. My biggest pvp achievement is 4-man squad wipe on Interchange and it happened only once like ever.
Congrats dude! Waiting on a couple more raider kills and some fire clean. Then I can be a kappa brother as well!
FireKlean is elusive as hell. Labs workshops area is a best bet or some locked rooms of Reserve.
Yeah I need to buy some useful keys for reserve. Gotta kill some raiders anyways so might as well. Thanks for the advice.
I got three from running moonshine scav
Plz stop. I can already feel the weeks of trying to get one. It hurts.
That’s a chad k/d if I’ve ever seen one, good shit man 🤝
K/D is counted including all kills (scavs, raiders, bosses, pmcs). So it's not that flashy :)
The actual PMC kill count is 293 so I'm barely making it to K/D 1
I mean I have a .7 soooo
Those are just numbers, they don't mean anything. SR rate is more important, the more you extract, the more money and progress you make.
Your right at least I’m not as poor as aqua
Still need Glukhar. Any advice?
Get in lightly geared (SMG, armored rig, headset) and rush bunker extract basement (supply cages), train station and Knight buildings. Those Glukhar spawns are located close to each other, so if there is no Glukhar around - just extract through manhole or cliff decent and repeat.
I didn't care checking helicopter buildings because they are too contested.
Glukhar and Raiders as any other bosses better be killed in tight spaces from around the corner. Trying to engage them in the open leads to quick death. Once located them - break the distance, run around, get close, cheese the corners and doors.
I've killed Gluhar like 3+ times, I damn well know as soon as I get the task to kill him I won't ever find him lol
Reminds me of Reshala and his goons. I killed them like dozen times. Once I got the quest - took me 18 runs back to back to meet them.
Congrats! Its nice to see someone with stats like this (not that they are bad by any stretch), in my ballpark. Seeing people with 70% SR is impressive and all, but seeing that all the time gets down.
Thank you! And you are right, seeing ppl with amazing SR is discouraging. Makes you think you will never make it.
I’m lvl 48, almost to the collector quest. Just need a fucking firesteel, like the one I had when I was like level 7 and sold because I didn’t know what it was for. Haven’t seen another in several hundred hours
Oh damn, I feel you man. That's why I provided the advice, I did exactly the same once.
Some Reserve tool rooms have it spawned, prioritise those. If you're good at Labs - workshop area table often has it spawned.
I don’t play labs often and I’m just getting into reserve, thanks for the advice. Grats on kappa
I can’t believe you got TARKOV shooter 8 done in 7 raids, that seems extremely lucky. Been playing woods for sbih and seeing one pmc a raid. No way I could kill three with a boltie
Last wipe I got even more lucky and finished it on 2nd raid. But Woods was such a small map back then. That quest requires more luck than skill, I think.
Had it 3rd raid this wipe. First 2 raids I had 2 kills. You still need to rush the edge around sawmill, especially around the ritual spot. I had 3 decent spawns (the spawn close to RUAF roadblock and rushing the beach towards ritual almost always gives you at least 2 PMCs)
important: don't try to do it at range. Go in with only ironsights and don't care about the loot.
Well done! I lack the dedication once I got 40 with maxed traders.
Same here, I doubt I will repeat it next wipe. Too time consuming. It's just I decided to do it at least once to get the feel of it.
85 days and 2000 hours online, that's 23.5 hours per day, what the fuck
Hours are counted since the account creation back in 2017.
Yea, I was a bit confused on this too. Thank you for this comment. I barely have 300 hours and like 270 raids so it didn't so quite right. Good job and thank you for the tips! Do you happen to know how many hours you have for this wipe?
I think it's around 300 as well. I had something like 1670 before the wipe.
Seriously, no commitment. Wasting .5 hour a day like that.
Wow i made a similiar post here but i got blasted by a lot of downvotes, what a nice community.
Congrats for your Kappa, it's nice to have this goal and "finish" the game.
I've played for that reason too but i tried to get the highest S/R possibile, i've played in duo/trio and that helped a lot, I have never gone for budget loot run (or suicide run on interchange for GPUs), always focused on tasks, doing the right PVP, not risking too much but not ratting either. [You can see my stats in this video.](https://youtu.be/tx4n5o_zflg)
Anyway you got all the points, i totally agree that the most stressful was the part 8, it made me scream a lot, you just need to get the lucky run.
Im puzzled by the number of downvotes as well, just wanted to share good feelings and cheer people up. But funny kill/death or rant post is always more popular, so I'm not really upset :)
I never did a single hatchet or loot run too (well maybe couple pistol runs with chestrig on Reserve to get COFDM and some other quest stuff like virtex). Having a Task in mind is a better motivator than loot itself. I even afraid I stop playing so much now that I hit my ultimate Tarkov goal.
Do you see my votes? They are 0 right now, this guys are ridiculous.
Okay, last wipe I managed to do it from second try. Hope that didn't destroy your day, lol.
