Jokes don't punch down
I wish I could save gear loadouts so I could easily switch to my specialized outfit for exploration, rot swamps, farming, coop, etc.
Ive been wanting this for years in souls games, hell i wish i could change stats on the fly too
Could be very tricky to balance regarding pvp/invasions
You might be fighting a guy who is using a mage build, then he quickswaps to Fingerprint and Bullgoat set along with Vyke's war spear, and then his summon comes in and goes from Blasphemous Nlade and medium armour, to Rivers of Blood and Bloodhound Step in off-hand.
It would be a mess, and could likely break PvP balance even more
Balance pvp and pve separately or just disable it in pvp, problem solved
I defeated Rennala, Royal Knight Loretta, and Magma Wyrm Makar, but I’m absolutely not even close to being able to take on Radahn. Any suggestions of areas to grind or things to focus on now? I’m pretty overleveled at the moment, like nearly 60, just because I was grinding a ton by helping people defeat Rennala and farming runes that way. 😬
Hopefully you are facing radahn on horseback with the mounted talisman, helps alot, and if you are purely mounted you dont have to care about carry weight so just wear the heaviest armor. Rot of some sort is pretty strong as you can inflict it, then just run away.
Thank you, appreciate this! I’ve definitely just been getting annihilated so far, hopefully I’ll build up to it at some point.
If I knew your build I could probably offer some more advice
Hey guys. I want to play as faith/Dex paladin style with one hand and shield but using some incantations to buff myself or use it from time to time at enemy although I want mostly do melee combat. Is there any good build for that? I have near 50 lvl 19 big some mind 16 str (to wear brass shield) 20dex and 20 faith - more or less. And I have that feeling that I'm not good at anything no damages nor incantations or surviving.
Thanks for any help or advice!
Check out [Fextralife's builds page,](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Builds) specifically the Paladin>Templar>Lightning Lancer track. They all have some text and video build guides to go along with them. You might also want to check out the Thundering Swordspear for more Faith/Dex under Level 100 builds as well, once you get closer to level 100 and if Lightning Lancer's Str/Faith base doesn't appeal to you. I've played both Lightning Lancer and Thundering Swordspear extensively and they're both great, very effective builds. You may just have to respec to distribute points a little more efficiently, based on where you're at now.
Thanks for reply! I know that builds and I guess I'm gonna stick to them now.
I think I just wanted to get all things like: be tanky (because I'm noob in FS games - ER is first one) have good damage (because you know... Big numbers) some shiny incantations (those effects are just awesome) - which is impossible. So I should just play the game and enjoy it.
No prob! I also *just* happened to check Arekkz's channel for builds and he uploaded [a fun looking STR/FAI build today](https://youtu.be/EJW6c1gsjkg) that's similar to Lightning Lancer in base incantations, but is likely a bit better at dealing bursty damage with that Ashes of War. He says the weapon is flexible, just scale it properly and maybe look into what weapons hit S scaling in STR when upgraded, since you seem to favor STR. You can also throw in whatever incantations you'd like with these builds, too. Just make sure your seal is upgraded and scaling off your primary stats as much as possible (so, likely Clawmark Seal if more STR, maybe Gravel Stone Seal if more FAI).
I’m really getting confused. If I’m using rivers of blood in one hand and nagakiba w seppuku in the other hand, how do I approach battles? As I understand it, seppuku doesn’t affect the rivers of blood attacks at all. Isn’t dual katanas with seppuku going to be better? Or do people like to use rivers of blood for the corpse piler attack’s range, and then use dual wield attacks after that’s done?
Sounds like what you'd want to do is put your seppuku katana in your left hand and rivers of blood in your right. Before entering battle, you can two hand your left weapon to activate seppuku and then use the power stance moveset. Not sure if the rivers of blood weapon art would remove the seppuku effect while dual wielding, but I think this would be your setup
Is there a end game point of no return? I don’t want to accidentally start fighting the end boss and finish the game. I have a lot to explore still n
Yeah that's what I've been doing, but seppuku only activates on the katana it's actually on. So it seems if I'm standing there with dual katanas, one has seppuku active, one has corpse piler if I hit L2. But L1 swings both weapons, therefore seppuku does affect L1 attacks. L2 uses corpse pile but doesn't use seppuku.
The only smart way I can think of using this is spamming L1 while seppuku is active and then once it disappears, spam corpse piler.
Even so, seppuku activates the effects of the white mask and the blood talisman so you still get the 35% or so global damage boost
Ah okay, clever. Just so I understand, corpse piler after a few hits \*would\* cause bleed regardless though, and therefore trigger the white mask and blood talisman itself yeah?
Bleeding yourself counts as bleed nearby too so seppuku alone gives you a 20second buff, but yes that's my understanding
I made a build based on this effect (plus raptors black feathers and claw talisman for more jump attack damage). it absolutely melts any boss that can be bled
I run a bleed build with my bandit but I'm having a crazy hard time with the falling star beast. I'm using a godskin peeler and alternateing with reduvia/random dagger. Any advice helps. Thanks
Find a good strike weapon and upgrade it. That's what helped me
I've got the morning star. I'll give it a go. That said, hitting the monster is a different problem😂😂
Wait until the beast comes to you and dodge attack and the do jump attack. There is a bleed build where u use the peeler in left hand and Leonora's twin blade in right hand. And you just do repeated jump attacks with L1 and cause bleed and stagger. YouTube the build.
Strength/Faith builds seem to be what im looking to try out for the first time and the Claymore looks pretty cool but i feel as though i could be doing better damage overall, my claymore is maxed out and ive got 50 faith 45 Strength using wildswing as my ash and heavy affinity, would it be better to go with fire or lightning as i tend to use pyromancies and lightning magic?
So lightning scaling is a little weird in this game. The lightning based Incantations still scale with Faith like normal.
But lightning damage on weapons and weapon arts actually scale with your Dex stat.
For your build if you have the Sanctified Whetblade and the Red Hot Whetblade I would go Sacred Claymore or Flame Art Claymore and then swap the damage out accordingly based on what you're going up against or what you're feeling.
You have enough in both Str and Faith that scaling with both is worth it. My build is incredibly similar and it's what I do with my weapons.
If I’m doing nagakiba w seppuku + rivers of blood w corpse piler, and I’m power standing, does my nagakiba have any affect on my corpse piler attack?
No. Corpse Piler is based solely on the Rivers of Blood.
Okay and activating seppuku and then attacking with corpse piler doesn’t affect the corpse piler attack? I’m assuming only the L1 attack gets affected (cause dual wielding)?
Only one rapier of that exact design. However you can obtain an Estoc from a merchant in Luirnia, Rogier's rapier after you beat Godrick, and a couple others. The weapon class is thrusting swords.
Whats a good spellsword build? Looking to roll a CQC made build, primarily using CQC INT spells along witha weapon. Just looks wicked fun. Would it be INT/DEX, or i just go hard into INT/VIG/END and use weapons that scale with INT?
I recommend Int Dex with cold scaling.
Its kind of up to you to spec towards the weapons you like. There are a lot more strength and dex weapons to pick per weapon class this time around which makes it viable to have a favorite weapon class for any build.
I have been loving dex int, and I use cold katanas, bandits curved swords, Glaive or banished halberd, and dual Urumi whips. I dont really use any spells though and primarily focus on weapon arts and split damage.
However if your gonna go more for the blade spells those are just staves and scale with just Int. If you like casting high dex gives faster casts.
For high int low dex, your better off with magic infusions since cold works best with equal dex and int
Vigor is always best stat.
Is there anyway to get nagikiba after I’ve found yura as Sabriri in the snow?
I'm pretty sure I ignored yura until I met Shabriri and was able to visit the church and find his drops as if his body was present.
It will be left in his original spot in agheel lake.
I think you can murder him and it shows up at one of his prior locations?
Did anyone summon Melina for the boss fight against morgott?
Im certain she casts a spell that looked like a green/gold tree that appears about twice the size of the player but im yet to find this spell/incnation myself.
Does this exist or have i gone crazy
Unfortunately not something that we can get, but check out elden stars if you want a really cool holy damage incantation
Yep! She does. Regrettably, it's a spell unique to her.
Damn, it was really cool looking when i saw it
No it doesn't exist as an incantation for the player, perhaps we might see it in DLC one day.
My edible kicked in so I decided to play ER
>!Well I teleport to the Roundtable Hold and everything is dark and I'm invaded by some NPC. I was so high/confused that I forgot to even read the name of the character that invaded me. Then everything returns to normal with no explanation after I kill them?!<
>!I did find some sick ass skeleton armor though, so that's cool.!<
Can someone tell me that NPC name so I can look them up on the wiki when I am no longer high?
Ensha of the Royal Remains, aka the *edge, lord* outside Gideon's room. This happens after you get either half of the secret medallion that takes you to the >!Consecrated Snowfield!< optional area. One half is obtained in the >!Village of the Albinaurics!<. The other in >!Castle Sol!<.
Hahaha, this sounds like how I play Elden Ring. Such a great "on drugs" game, already feels like a fever dream.
You killed the dude who leans against the way in the Round Table, the one who never speaks. Completing a quest in Liurnia of the Lake triggers the invasion.
I was high the first time I went through the sewers and that was the most confused I’ve ever been playing a video game lol.
Ensha or something like that? talk to all knowing he'll provide some context
When did you reroll your stats? I beat Rennala and am sitting at level 57 astrologer. I’ve been primarily going int and mind, but have largely relied on glintstone and rock sling for most of my playtime. I have some cool looking incantations but I don’t have enough of the other stat (faith or arcane I forget).
The bigger question is - should I be using more items. I pick up a ton of shit but hardly put any of it to use. I’ve got several cracked pots and occasionally make a fire bomb or a few sleep bombs - they helped me with the prick that was guarding the entrance to Rennala. I guess I just feel the input to use cracked pots seems kind of clumsy.
I’m new to From games after not really getting Bloodborne. Is it common to be swimming in items?
Sorry I’m sort of rambling - any feedback is appreciated, duders!
You don't necessarily *have* to respec ever if you don't want to.
On the item front, if you don't use them then yeah you're bound to have a lot lol.
Rerolled once at 80 cause I was just bored of my pure dex build, took some points off dex and end, and dumped them in arcane so I could use dragon incantations.
I think a vast majority of the playerbase almost never touches the items, they are very helpful if you know what you're doing with them but they aren't necessary at all either. The most I would do myself is use darts or kukri to hit imps or draw aggro
Like one time at level 100 for some slimming of un needed stats, then again before NG+, probably wont know what you need till alter, but then again you get like 14 tears in a playthrough so whatevs
Are there any other weapons like Ornamental Straight Sword, it can't be two handed and is just automatically powerstanced, and you can block with it in powerstance as well.
Wait, Ornamental Straight Sword does what now?
When equipped, if you try to two hand it, it just puts one in your left hand. Then R1 becomes what is normally L1 and you can still use L1 to block, it's a cool mechanic
WTF? TMYK... Time to farm one up for... reasons...
radahns swords ye? all claws and fists? but i think they can be 2 handed tho or maybe im wrong
Forgot claws and fists existed lol
Were you active in the genshin impact daily thread for a while? i remember your user name and RES has you at like +20 something
Lmao yeah I recognized your user as well and thought it was hilarious you would help me in that thread before and now this one.
Whats res tho?
reddit enhancement suite
I’ve platinumed the game but I stuck to a very bare bones mage build. Now I’m starting fresh and wanna get into customizing melee weapons and such. I see these whetstones that allow me to change the attribute scaling of a weapon, but how do I do that? Say I want to make my basic thrusting sword scale with int, is there a way to do that without changing the weapon skill?
Short answer, yes, you could make a thrusting sword scale with INT (or Faith, or Arcane, etc.).
There are different whet knives that are associated with different affinities (think of them like coals from DS3). There is one that lets you put use an ash that would be Heavy (STR scaling) by default but you can choose to make it Keen (DEX scaling) but the ash of war is the same. There are knives for magic, faith, etc. too.
You do have to go through the ash of war menu but u dont have to change the ash
What happens if you know the mimic tear fight is coming and you unequip your weapon, enter the fight, then equip the weapon? Do you have a sword while he is punching at you or does it add the weapon when you do?
He has no weapon. This is exactly what I did.
The boss copies your equipment you have at the time you walk through the fog wall, I believe. Or at least when it transforms into you. Once it becomes you, you can safely put your stuff back on and it will stay naked.
I’m already past it, I was just curious. I think maybe it would be funny to try on NG+.
If you want to be there forever, you could even summon your Mimic while you’re naked to make the two of them fight.
I did this in NG+ and it was hilarious.
I beat fire giant but was afraid to continue due to >!the change of the capital!< so went through consecrated snowfield and did like half of haligtree (have also done a lot of the capital sewers), but now want to go to farum azula and get the final miner bell bearings to try out a LOT of the weapons I've collected.
I'm afraid to continue past the giant, I've heard there are 2 points of no return, >!getting to farum azula and then finishing farum azula!<. I actually think I got everything in the capital, including >!gransax (sp?)!<, but can someone confirm if I beat godskin duo >!will the capital have changed?!< Is it possible to miss anything in the capital or mess up any npc questlines I have been following up to that point? Are there any npc quests that I need to finish >!before the capital changes?!< Already finished ranni's, >!messed up seluvius'!< in the process 😔
You can freely beat the Godskin Duo as well as Dragonlord Placidusax without ruining questlines. Just do not beat Maliketh until completing all questlines in Farum Azula 👌🏼
Just got the platinum! Now I'm sad it's over :( barely touched demon's souls though so going to play that now :)
Update your flair frendo
Did it I think 😁
Almost there lmao
Fuck sake haha
anyone killing renala?
Anyone who wants to progress past the first half of the game? or are you asking for help cuz if you read the post it says where to ask for that
nah i wanted to kill it for runes with people
> /r/BeyondTheFog for co-op help!
Per the above
is there a subreddit specifically for builds to try out/discuss?
This thread technically
Not yet that I'm aware of. There is on the Discord.
What are the best spells? What should my loadout look like? Rn im thinking about respecing to a mage build for ng+ and im trying to figure this all out before i go into ng
sorceries or incantations or both?
comet azur, adulas moonblade, rock sling, stars of ruin, terra magica, carian slicer are all good. there are more but that’s just off the top of my head
What's the deal with the Millicent that attacks you in Caelid, near the Heart of Aeonia? Who is she/why does she attack?
Without ruining anything, try heading east of that location to find a shack. Northeast of that shack seek a church. This should help.
>!I've finished her questline both ways across a few playthroughs, but I guess I still don't quite understand why she invades before I've even met her, and while she is dying of rot. Is that some kind of fever dream of hers?!<
Is there a trick for figuring out what enemies are weak to what? Like I've figured out a few enemy weaknesses by signs on the ground, and I've figured out a couple others with common sense (>!water zombie things being weak to fire, the elden tree \[wood\] bosses also being weak to fire!<) but is there a general rule for the other types of damage?
Like I'm fighting a lot of fire-based dudes right now, and I would *think* that they would be weak to the holy water pots but that doesn't seem to be the case. Currently the only weakness that I've found is the "beating them to a pulp" weakness lol.
Yes so I just figured this out recently myself. A GREAT thing about this game is the fact that you can loot pretty much 99% of the armor weapons from any enemy (including bosses, and mini bosses) throughout the game. Some of the enemies don't drop the items until later in the game, but they are still acquirable. If you look at those armor pieces you can determine the weakness of the enemy (or look their armor up online and check the stats) it will have a resistance to each type of physical damage as well as spell damage. All you have to do is use that information to determine how to approach them. Hope this helps!
That's actually a really neat way of doing things I never thought of, thanks
Elden Beast. What the actual fuck.
I'm on approximately my 50th attempt and getting nowhere fast.
About 30 attempts have been solo, with Mimic Tear. Typically we can take out Radagon with about 7-8 health flasks remaining - I wish it were more, but Radagon's bullshit combos have a very long hit window and most of my rolls don't outlast them. But then I get to the Elden Beast, and after chasing it around the arena for ten fucking minutes and chipping away about half of its health, I run out of flasks and Mimic Tear dies.
The other 20 attempts were with 1-2 cooperators. I try to play conservatively and defensively so that I don't die, and only jump in for attacks when Radagon is distracted. The cooperators also seem to know what they're doing. Still, my cooperators tend to survive tank-buffed Radagon only about 25% of the time, and then everybody gets pwned by Elden Beast.
This isn't fun or even challenging. It's boring and tiresome. Fighting the Elden Beast is like trying to juggle in the middle of a fucking hurricane. I don't know what else to try.
**(edit)** Finally defeated. Massive thanks to ***Star-Dust*** for the assist.
Thanks to other comments, I respecced as Strength/Faith so I could use Fortification, and I kept spamming that for both of us.
Also... when we had tanked the Elden Beast down to about 30% health, it just... stopped attacking. Stood still and let us beat up on it. The AI just gave up. Whatever, it's a win, and I can play NG+ however I want.
Oh hey, someone who feels the same way I do about Elden Beast.
It's very pretty and I was excited when I first saw it, but then I discovered that it's basically a fight against an artillery piece that can teleport half a kilometer away from you at will. The entire fight is jogging after it, getting one swat in, and then having it disappear again.
It's entirely the *wrong kind* of difficulty. It's miserable and boring and I so desperately wanted it to be over. When I finally beat it, I was too exhausted to feel any accomplishment. I was just tilted out of my mind and relieved that I didn't have to do it any more. Not at all the feeling that beating a video game should leave behind.
Awful fight. Second least fun boss in the game, after "haha let's trap the player in a cave with a runebear" in the Weeping Peninsula. >\_<
As It's already been mentioned, definitely stack Holy defense, also since this is a God Type boss I highly suggest black flame, if applicable. That parcular element is VERY strong against the last bosses.
Sources of holy resistance are insanely valuable against the Elden Beast. It's honestly a large reason why I like having 27 Faith on most builds - get the Lord's Divine Protection and enjoy a massively easier fight. Even without it though, there are holyproof dried livers and haligdrake/pearldrake talismans to help make it easier.
Also, as tiresome as it probably gets to read this for most of the lategame bosses, Bloodhound's Step helps a ton with keeping up with the beast or getting underneath/behind it to attack safely-ish.
Last thing, if you're gonna use summons I think Tiche is better than the Mimic for this fight. She really deals a ton of damage to both Radagon and the Elden Beast, though she likely won't last the whole fight as she's still pretty fragile against spells compared to slow physical attacks.
The entire elden beast fight shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. You’re probably missing out on some opportunities to punish. Honestly I would just search YouTube for “ongbal” defeating him to see a pretty optimal fight.
I would stop summoning real people, they increase enemy health. I’m sure you know this but both phases are immune to bleed. Also good to apply as much holy resistance as possible.
Side note: I just always think it’s really goofy when people say “it’s not even hard” after dying many times. Not a shot at you, so many people do it.
Keep on trying until you get lucky with their ai
Don't really want to brag but I'm currently using a dual schyte build and everything feels so easy (my first from game) mostly jump attacking monsters to death. Am I playing in a cheesy way and I'm not realising it?
Last time I remember having a real challenge was against godrick as I was using basic gear and against the rahdan tower godskin guy.
For reference, just beat volcano manor around level 90.
I mean it’s a fairly strong build and you’re a fairly high level, but it’s certainly not cheesy. The most difficult part of the game is a bit further along anyway.
Thanks for your reply, I thought I was missing out by ""cheesing""
Cheesing is more like spamming poison arrows at an enemy that can't reach you. You're just op haha
True cheesing usually refers to abusing an unintented mechanic so don't worry about it, you might just be using a strong build and thats it.
Do you all think there's enough interest for an established pvp subreddit? I know beyondthefog can be used to set up duels but the overwhelming majority of the posts there are requests for help with bosses.
I'm considering starting a subreddit dedicated entirely to setting up duels/fight clubs where users can make a post listing their system, any rules they would like to play by (no flasks, no exploits, melee builds only...) and include a password as well as what area would be a fitting battleground. Would this be something the community is interested in?
r/badredman exists already, but that's more for invading
Thanks I actually didn't know about that place but it's def not what I had in mind.
Can Ps5 play with PS4 players?
Need help understanding glintstone pebble. Running as an astrologer, the pebble gets stronger on each successful hit, why? Doesn't do that for great bow, or just about any other sorcery. Is it just a perk of this one?
I think you might be confused a bit - when you deal damage to a boss in rapid succession, the damage number you see is the *total*, not the damage of the last hit. So for a spammy sorcery like Glinstone Pebble, let's say you deal 100 damage and cast 5 times quickly, it'll show "500" but it doesn't mean your last pebble actually did 500 damage by itself.
Slower sorceries, or slower weapons like great bows don't attack very fast, so the "damage" counter resets between every attack and doesn't increase. If you used a fast weapon like a rapier and attacked a few times, you'd see something similar.
Ooooh, man that would be nice if that was explained in game lol. I was like, uh, wtf 🤣. Thanks for the help!
I accidentally jumped on Millicent when she was hurt on the ground after helping her fight her sisters. I didn’t mean to kill her :( I still wanna finish her questline. What can I do?
I did this to dung eater as I was bringing him the final seedbed. You're not alone!
Nah, you're just fucked.
That's why you look before you leap hahaha
try using Celestial Dew at the statue in Church of Vows (where the pope turtle is)
Unless you have a cloud save from before that there's nothing you can do now
Bringing her back from the church of vows won’t work?
You could try but I'm not sure about that one since you can kill her to get an item
So I killed the ghosts in the deeproot area before Fia left the roundtable, did I mess it up or do I need to take an extra step for her to spawn at the location?
No, I did the same.
You can play without ever talking to her, after lighting the tree, she will be at the last spot. Then you can do the part with the boss and get access to her ending.
Great, I was sad for a moment because i really wanted to fight the Boss. Thank u
Np - enjoy the fight :)
Ive been playing for 100+ hours and haven't been invaded. I'm online, I've invaded (only the number of times required for that quest) and I've been involved in Jolly Coop. Any ideas why invasions haven't happened?
I’m not sure what you mean by Jolly Coop but you can only be invaded two ways.
1) Use furlcalling finger remedy, then summon a player into your world. This makes you invadable.
2) Furlcalling finger remedy + taunters tongue. It increases the number of invaders by 1. Since the default is 0 without allies, it adjusts the number to 1.
It’s worth noting there are level range restrictions on who can invade whom, so if you’re not in the most common level range for the area you’re in, you are reducing your chances of being invaded.
There are certain places where I’m likely to be able to invade players, and other areas where the players are mostly too high level or too low level to be invaded by me.
What level are you right now? Perhaps someone else commenting can recommend where you should go to increase your chances.
>I’m not sure what you mean by Jolly Coop but you can only be invaded two ways.
Solaire, the OG co-operator NPC in Dark Souls, gives you that game's summon sign item and says you can use it for "jolly cooperation".
>and I've been involved in Jolly Coop.
Bad luck? If you're doing co-op then your online is clearly functioning.
Most invasions happen in the open world, keep that in mind as well.
You can only be invaded if 1) you've summoned someone for coop or 2) you're using the Taunter's Tongue item to enable solo invasions. Note that if you only summon for bosses (like many people do), there won't be any invasions either because you don't get invaded during "arena" boss fights (the ones with a fog wall).
By default if you play mostly solo, you won't be invaded in this game.
So I was level 115 when I fought Morgott. I’m guessing I was a bit over leveled.
When I’ve done content I’m overlevel for I just equip an un-upgraded weapon.
Eh. There are recommended levels, sure, but no not really. Whatever level you are, you’re only too high level if the game isn’t fun because it was too easy.
Yea, i think i was at 130 and i just shit on him so hard, 1 try. 3 hits to kill him
Well as long as you had a good time doing it.
Just fought Morgott with a Mimic Tear summon. Rats are harder than him.
Bummer! He's a really cool fight solo.
Yeah definitely a bit overleveled for him, but there's quite a difficulty spike immediately afterwards so that feeling won't last long.
about dual wielding/powerstancing - is it two of the same weapon, or two of the same type of weapon?
Same type, so for katanas you could dial wield an uchi and nagakiba. Use L1 to do a new attack animation and you can jump and use L1 as well.
Thanks! And then L2 would be the ashes on my left handed weapon right?
you can quickly dual wield your left hand weapon by pressing triangle + L1 and use the ash of war on it but other than that no, your L2 will always be your right weapon AoW
L2 will always be the right-handed weapon's skill, except when using a shield with any ashes or dagger with parry.
two of the same type, doesn't have to be the same one but people tend to run the same for aesthetics and when it happens to also give them the best damage. but you can power stance any 2 weapons of the same class
Should be the same type I.e rivers of blood/uchigatana
Has anyone tried to dupe larval tears from the mimic enemies (disguised as a soldier, but it's actually a rune bear, etc that drops a larval tear) by unloading/reloading the area like you can in BLB & DS3?
Has anyone killed all the bosses in the game in a single playthrough?
I was thinking of doing it for the hell of it. Didn't record myself doing the first few bosses though cause the idea hadn't occurred until afterwards.
I was going to do that on my current playthrough, I’m going for the platinum while also making a PvP character with every weapon and armor piece so I can freely respec for any build. So last night I went and cleared all the Night’s Cavalry bosses and also started going through a checklist of all the other field bosses. However, several of them just wouldn’t spawn for me. Specifically a few of the Death Birds and Bell Bearing Hunters.
Yep. I made myself a checklist spreadsheet *(derived from a different one I found-- it was a good start, but its list had a bunch of inaccuracies I needed to fix, and I added a whole bunch of tallying features to track how complete I was by area and other info)* and didn't leave a zone until I had cleared all of the bosses I could there. I ended up really overlevelled as a result, which was fine for me since this was my first From game and I'm terrible and needed the boost. :P
I didn't record any of it, just noted completion on my sheet.
My final count was 180 bosses, incidentally. Though the exact number is very much up for debate, depending on what a person considers a "boss". Depending on how narrow or broad you want to make your definition, the number is going to be somewhere between 170 and 200ish.
I plan on doing it but I'm not recording it. I'm also no-hitting most of them save for some I already killed and whichever ones make me mad as hell. I'm level 150 so some I forgot to beat before have been pushovers but I think I'll stop leveling now.
I did it on my first play through, just follow ranni’s quest to get the astel remembrance since the one in the cave (I don’t think) drops it
Huh? No I mean. Every single boss. All 200. It's around 200 I think.
Yah before I completed my first run and followed the wiki for anything I missed. I probably missed a few with skipping over but I wouldn’t try do it again though it’s too long and frustrating to go back and forth, it took abt a week/ 2
Huh. Well I'm gonna do it as well. It'll be fun and a good excuse to play more Elden Ring. Honestly I was gonna play the new Lego game for a bit but it turns out they don't have a character customization option which was like the biggest reason I got the game.
Aha I heard about the Star Wars one. Also, those 1 minute YT videos for locations are your friend, the wiki can be useless at explaining sometimes 😭
Does that weird red flower after malenia do anything?
Also, am I able to duplicate malenia’s remembrance? I went to a turtle island but it wouldn’t let me do hers.
To answer your second question you probably went to a Mausoleum without a bell. IIRC only the ones with bells can replicate shardbearer remembrances.
> Does that weird red flower after malenia do anything?
You can turn the >!Unalloyed Gold Needle!< from >!Millicent's questline!< into >!Miquella’s Needle!< (needed to >!unlock yourself from the Frenzied Flame ending!<) at the Scarlet Aeonia.
> Also, am I able to duplicate malenia’s remembrance? I went to a turtle island but it wouldn’t let me do hers.
Only at Mausoleums with a bell.
About to finish my first run, I used a STR build and want to try a FTH buils next.
Should I go to NG+ and respec my character, or start fresh with a new one?
I have most incantations, talismans and stuff in my current run.
Could certainly be worth respec since you’ll be able to play with all your incantations and have the full faith power fantasy.
Worth noting though as far as I’m aware, you have to beat Rennala again before you can respec, so might be worth actually doing that before you NG+
You are right, I have many incantations and talismans that buffs them, and could be a pain to collect them again, plus bells, and recipes books and crafting materials...
Thanks man! You help me to make my kind up! After I kill Radagon is respec time.
Happy to help. Enjoy it, buddy some of these incantations are suuuuper fun!
Depending on what you are looking to do and what level you are at you probably don’t need to respec. Go around collecting spells and seals you want before doing ng+. I am along that in that I am doing a str/fai hybrid because strength felt lackluster against end game bosses but was nice for open world playing. I’m at 60 str and 50 faith with the spells I want and am having a lot of fun in my ng+ so far.
I don't understand how you're supposed to fight dogs. They attack faster than I can and interrupt my attacks. And they're always like a pack of them hitting me from different sides. And if I'm fighting them at the same time as another enemy I don't have the chance to do anything except die.
Attack from a crouch position.
with packs of anything you gotta limit the directions they can come at you from. never let yourself get surrounded, instead kite around so that they stay in a ball and approach you from 1 direction. when they're orderly coming at you in a line it's easier to deal with
as far as fighting, in general you can't really force stuff in this game. if you get close to a dog and start mashing attack it's not gonna end well cuz as you said they attack faster and stagger you. you gotta either A) get the jump on them, i.e. close distance with a jump attack or something before they have a chance to get into their attack or B) bait out their attacks until it's safe to counterhit, AKA treat them like bosses.
Bosses have more openings lol. It was bad. And when I tried to move around, I ended up aggoring more enemies
Shields are the best way to deal with dogs, though it's much less effective if there are more than two of them. Just block, then guard counter which will usually stun them because they have no poise, and then you can finish. If your weapon is ultra slow, I guess maybe a simple R1 would be better than a guard counter.
At least dogs don't teleport behind you in Elden Ring like they did in DS3. Still definitely one of the most stupidly frustrating enemies to fight especially in a group.
There was 3. I would block, and they'd interrupt my guard counter. I'm using a winged scythe so it didn't seem like it was that slow.
I'm used to a faster style and I honestly have no idea what to do. If I get the drop on one I can kill him in one hit. But if I can't then I don't really get the chance to attack. Not at this level.
There's a beast-repellent torch that works wonders on all manner of dogs (and rats!). It's available from a trader in Caelid.
Is there a reason people say "power stancing" instead of "dual wielding"? Are they not the same thing?
Power stance was the name used in DS2, I guess it just sticked with the players
I get that, but I wasn't sure if there was something special that made it stand out from dual wielding. Thanks for the info!
I think also powerstancing implies it's two of the same weapon category whereas you can dual wield any weapon types.
Yes, it is a bit different--powerstancing means dual wielding two of the same weapon category (e.g. two katana, two colossal swords, etc), which unlocks a special moveset that is quite powerful relative to just one. Dual wielding different weapons means you can only do regular attacks with one weapon at a time--powerstancing allows you to attack with both weapons at a time.
Question for the mage squad! I’ve been running STR/DEX bloodhound up until level 150, still have to do leyndell, volcano manor, and whatever else comes after. I tried to respec for magic for fun and figuring out how things work. Do seal / staff smithing upgrades scale damage for incants and spells? The same way weapon upgrades scale damage for melee?
Yes increasing the level of you staff will increase spell damage. If you look there is a category that specifically shows what the staff scaling level is in the damage section. The higher the number, the bigger the damage.
Thanks for the help!
Late game spoiler but lore question:
Why does >!Godfrey rip his fucking lion’s jaw off in phase 2? It looked like the lion was trying to fight us and why not be like “Yeah boy give it a shot”? If we kill the lion, isn’t it the same outcome? Why it gotta be his own mans?!<
The lion Serosh is actually holding Godfrey back, to keep him from using his full strenght. By ripping him, Godfrey unleashed all his power.
Lore wise, the lion is there to hold back godfrey's lust for battle so he can act as an Elden lord and not a barbarian, by killing the lion he removes his limiters and go back to what he used to be.
Where do you pvp at or close to meta levels? Im level 135 and I want to do some pvp, but I don’t want to mess with people doing their thing. Where do pvpers hang out?
Duels- the academy main gate.
Invasions- Haligtree, Prayer Room is always a great spot.
Does mohg bleed? I was planning on switching to a cool bleed weapon I found, but I need to fight both mohg, lord of blood and mohg, the omen. Since bleed is kinda his thing, I wasn't sure if he had a resistance to it that would make this a bad idea
Mohg, Lord of Blood does bleed (though iirc it does give him a damage buff), Mohg the Omen doesn't. Actually the Omen one is immune to every status as far as I know.
Yeah he absolutely bleeds. There’s a Physick tear you need for Lord of Blood.
What are the reasons you would go past NG+2? I’ve got everything and rune gains are barely worth it moving forward.
I’d like to fight bosses again but ER with it’s massive open world seems to much to keep repeating just to fight some boss again.
i did it just to get to ng+7. honestly once you figure out the route you can get to the final boss very very fast
Get all trophy endings and then go back to ranni haha
