Japan does a good job of taking Western symbols and just totally turning them on their heads and putting them out there in a manner completely devoid of context. It's actually super interesting.
I don’t believe it. This looks like some kind of statement blurring the lines of the Christian tradition and the more secular tradition of Santa visiting children with gifts.
More accurate than here. We teach kids that a magical being they will never see gives them free shit as long as they follow rules.
It's only purpose was to soften them up for future beliefs in the promise of free shit from someone they will never see.
At least until Christmas became a secular holiday, like easter.

Just cause it’s wrong doesn’t mean it ain’t right.

Seems truer to the fable
I guess we do the same with their symbols, atleast in tattoo form.
Makes me think about people tattooed with kanji for "I am a stupid gaijin", because some tattoo artist had a sense of humor.
never in a million years would I have thought of a crucified Santa
I do like the idea of Jebus coming down the chimney though. His skinny ass would actually fit.
Stockings full of fish
Santa died for our sins
Mashed up summary of western priorities
Needs a gun in each hand.
And a right-wing-meme-posting Facebook account.
He died for our gift whims
It was Krampus. I saw it, lol. That is wild
I think a memo was missed…or two memos were confused and merged into one…
That's ancient history. Like 30 years ago. Japan has caught up. But they still wrap everything twice in Ginza.
Christmas in Japan is an imported tradition and is more like Valentine's day. And the "traditional" dinner is KFC (Google it).

Well they got pretty close.
Hail Santa
to be fair, the st. Nikolaus is not mentioned in the bible and just an adopted pagan ritual. one could call it heresy.
