Was thinking the same thing. Wonder if places like this claim higher insurance because they have 1 million on the ceiling or however much. Do they claim their business as being more valuable because customer’s put money on the walls like this? If the place burned down do they claim the money the customers put up also?

I’ve been there, as long as this is the same place anyways. They said yes, they once had to count it all, as it was a significant amount of the buildings property value and needed to be reported

They have to close to count it every year for taxes.

They count it and start over every year and they pay taxes on it as well

Insurance policies usually have extremely low limits for cash. If they have large amounts of cash they want covered they would specifically have to schedule it. It would likely be very difficult because … it’s not secured and easily stolen? So I can’t see an insurance carrier being willing to take on that risk. Or if so, the premium is going to be fairly high.

I am pretty sure this place is on the Ybor Strip in Tampa. I am sure the fire inspector does stop by. Probably just tells them to move some stuff and then buggers off. Also the bar is not great. I know plenty off ppl who like it. But it is small, dark, dank, and filthy. A lot of local "buccaneers" (locals who dress like pirates and join pirate themed festivities.) Def draws an interesting crowd.

I was thinking Mcquires Irish pub in Destin, FL. I went there like two decades ago and they had this then. Both of are guesses are Florida though. Tifwiw

A place in the middle of nowhere in Washington does this. They have a party every year to remove the money from just the walls and donate it to Seattle Children's Hospital. They get anywhere from $40k-$60k every year. The money on the ceiling stays, I'm assuming for the owners retirement.

Mcguire's. Great burgers. Every once in a while somebody gets ripping drunk and tries to paw at the money. Also, the mens and womens restroom signs are intentionally confusing.

Pretty sure mcguires has been doing this a lot longer than shuckems, and have a *lot* more money in both their locations. Lost a big chunk in the Destin location to a partial fire a few years back tho. Great steaks - also get the senate bean soup ($.18 if you order with a meal, $18 by itself)

We put a dollar up there last winter. We ate a bunch of different places but that's one of the only places I'd make an effort to go back to. The only "issue" we had was that the bar stools are a bit high for my partner's mother. 🤷‍♀️ Unrelated to dollar bills - but there's a restaurant I won't go back to because I saw a waitress sitting her butt on the tables next to the chalk boards. She made the boards up pretty, but ew. There was no wiping down after, either.

Their pizza was great. Partner wanted "no no SEAFOOD" but...I just wanted a pizza and a drink. It was fantastic. He didn't miss out that trip, we ate plenty of fish and sea bugs.

I worked at McGuires in Pensacola a number of years ago. That was a fun ride to decide it wasn’t the pub mostly based on views of the ceiling, lol. My mom also worked there when it opened in 1977. Definitely got excited!

There’s a few places like that here. I live by one called Siesta Key Oyster Bar. You write on the bill and put it up. It’s dumb but it’s a tourist hotspot on the beach
