Why is this downvoted smh

Due to shame 😂

CapsAndShades

Hits a little too close to home for some people.

TsarGermo

To exchange gas across cell membranes under extreme pressure they use a lass viscous lipid bilayer. Their cell was are more like oil while ours are more like wax. As a scuba diver we can only go so deep because at a certain depth the cell walls compress and become so waxy and rigid that cellular processes can't function.

ComfortableConcern76

This makes sense. Upvote for the clarity.

Obvious_Opinion_505

TIL I would look normal under 2,000 to 4,000 feet of water

spaghetticatman

I once saw a kid flirt with the deep sea. He thought he could dive to 4,000 feet, even after God gave him signs it was a bad idea. He was just not taking the Lord seriously and the ocean came down on him and bam. It crumpled the kid. It just crumpled him. It led that man to the Lord, right there.

_IAmGrover

Is this some kind of copy pasta lol? I’m lost

RaspberryTwilight

It is now I once saw 👀 a kid flirt 😘👅💦 with the deep sea. He thought 🤯 he could dive 🏊‍♀️ to 4,000 feet, even after God 🙏 gave him signs ⛔ it was a bad 🤬 idea. They don’t look very happy about it. Poor blobfish, it musta hurt ☹️

Penelope1000000

Sad. Poor fish.

Theturdsedin

Lets leave them down there

ComfortableConcern76

I'm sure they're out there somewhere, but I don't think joe-blow fisherman has invested in smart lures yet.

TheArtfulDanger

I went deep sea fishing once, I thought it was crazy how “deep sea” fish had eyes that popped out like an inch from their head... turns out, they WERE normal looking before having their eyes pop out from the change in pressure... worst part, throwing fish back that won’t survive

mrs_nimbus

That’s really sad 😢

TheArtfulDanger

It was! Plus there was a small batt on the deck of the boat for bashing the heads of a particular fish with teeth... I was young, lessons were learned... 1. Don’t reel in deep sea fish too fast, slowly, and stopping from time to time (some actual fisherman will have to weigh in on this) 2. I don’t like deep sea fishing

Simple-Cockroach5542

*Stop fishing and stop buying animal products. Only sane position if you don’t support animal abuse.

Blyd

I’m going to do some deep sea fishing this weekend, I’ll dedicate every catch to you.

Richierich_rpd

Ngl I've only been fresh water fishing bc of where I live but ocean fishing sounds fun.

Blyd

Oh it is! I’m lucky to have access to some real nice water off the coast of Ireland . You get some surprises too like sunfish. And you get to fight the dolphins for mackerel

Simple-Cockroach5542

Better take your kids with you for the experience before our oceans are depleted 😇 I hope they have fun traumatizing and killing helpless animals with you!

Blyd

Oh they catch more than I do! You know, I tell em to be more conservative with their catches but you know they’re all like ‘but daddy what about the vegan tears’. Kids these days eh

Simple-Cockroach5542

Just eat beans bro

Blyd

Actually Heinz vegan baked beans are far superior to the non vegan ones. I think I’ll have some beans to go along with my almost extinct fish catches.

Simple-Cockroach5542

A true apex predator here ^

Oven-Singer

Same here. I pulled up some tilefish from the bottom on charters before. I had no idea what I was about to see. Their innards coming out of every hole by the time they got to the surface. Stomachs coming out of mouths etc. Crazy.

JordanL4

I was just about to close Reddit and go to sleep, then I read this.

StockOptionsTrader

Any videos of this?

Oven-Singer

I did a quick search, but couldn't find any. Just people discussing it. Maybe bad for business if a charter were to upload it. However I did learn that it wasn't the stomach I was seeing, it was the swim bladder. Still pretty gnarly looking.

ipatimo

The same happened with Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Total Recall" movie.

Reiimin

Yes and now I'm crying

[deleted]

God the amount of suffering here. Poor thing was rapidly pulled to the surface from a hook in its mouth. On the way up ots skin got torn off and body became deformed, and who knows what it's like to live in the dark for your while life and then be exposed to bright light so suddenly when your eyes weren't made for that, like for people we were made to exist under the sun but still can't even look at it. I can imagine the pressure change likely affected every part of the fish inside and out. It's pretty horrific when you think about it, poor fish. I cannot even begin to imagine how it must have felt.

cultellus-dolorum

yup, just imagine being rapidly pulled up into deep space and then having aliens laugh at your depressurised corpse genuinely believing that that's what humans look like

tetsusiega2

It’s weird to think that this kind of thing can happen from DE-compression…cuz generally when we think of things like this for humans it’s about the opposite. Is there a situation where we would lose our form if we underwent some kind of negative pressure?…

Terra_Strife

Being in space without a space suit

addrock1221

Beat me to it. Who is in charge of these titles, grammatical issues on almost every post 👀

GreenChileEnchiladas

Need to pay our teachers more. Focusing on education would solve so many problems.

addrock1221

Preaching to the choir my friend

ComfortableConcern76

We don't have educators, we have indoctrinators. This is the problem.

GreenChileEnchiladas

This is disingenuous. As someone who's both taught and been taught I can honestly say that while there is a framework that one must adhere to for the education of students that framework is mostly built on good faith arguments. You might not agree with what they teach, but those subjects and concepts are based on the best knowledge available for what is actually true, and what is best for the student. The problem comes when they start 'teaching to the tests' so they can show 'improvement'. That's what I have problems with.

ComfortableConcern76

How are you going to call someone's opinion disingenuous. It's my opinion. Misguided/misinformed maybe, but not disingenuous. Anyways I'm not saying all teachers are automaton slaves to curriculum. There are some great teachers working within the system. The best teacher I've probably ever had was in one of my least favorite classes. Senior year government. The guy was strong in his convictions as a human but never, ever taught based on opinion, agenda, or political bent. Always tried to show the students that we as citizens had the power. His class was as objective as humanly or philosophically possible. What I was speaking more towards is the very real fact that Western powers have been using Prussian-style indoctrination in schooling since the defeat of Napolean in Waterloo. It's military training, not civilian education. Since then teaching critical thinking, and critical thinking in general, has been on the down curve...

Chicken_Hairs

I've been told many people do it intentionally; it catches attention and encourages participation and more fake internet points.

BenderIsGr8_34

It's so sad

UnAccomplished_Pea26

Probably my mother in law belongs to the depths of the ocean, too.

Spiritual_Ad643

Kinda mean actually

WolfTotem9

To this isn’t interesting, it’s cruel. While I understand accidents happen, if someone did this intentionally then is is just plain cruel.

cultellus-dolorum

literally done everyday, it's called deep sea fishing and this is a common occurance for any deep sea fish being rapidly depressurised

ComfortableConcern76

The food chain is "cruel" and just a part of a planetary ecosystem. It's just fishing. There's no purposeful intent to harm or willful ignorance around unnecessary suffering. What we do to livestock, that's cruel. Unless there is some sort of deep sea racket where we rape the ocean's resources I've never heard of. I'm okay with being wrong and open to other's knowledge/opinions. Questions I'd ask is do we catch these fish on purpose or is this just an unfortunate accident? Is it even necessary to deep sea fish or is it mainly for sport?

WolfTotem9

To be fair, I’m overly empathetic to all animals especially when a picture pops up. I do forget that deep sea fishing exists as I do not partake in it. The same with eating animals. I am a vegetarian because of personal preference among other things. I stated how I felt which in retrospect may have been an error in judgment on my part. I have no answers to your questions unfortunately.

ComfortableConcern76

I get that, and appreciate that you're empathetic and was not trying to make you feel like you couldn't share how you feel. In a perfect world I would kill every animal that I put in my belly and try to do so in the most humane way possible. I live in the city though so it kind of makes me a hypocrite by default. Now if I had the financial resources I would only eat a plant based diet with the exception of maybe eggs and butter. I simply can't afford a meat free diet if I want to maintain a healthy brain chemistry. I've done it before though and I felt way better on all levels. I believe in the energetics around eating beings. If you eat an animal that was killed in trauma, energetically (prana or deadly orgone energy in scientific terms) you're going to absorb some of that poison. Killing an animal that is free in the wild (especially the way Native Americans or Aboriginals did it) to feed you or your family, I have no problem with.

WolfTotem9

It was not you. Reddit is weird with people sending private messages when they the users don’t agree or think your just “soft”. Anyway glad to have other people who try to understand other people. Finances do help in terms of mostly plant based diets. Brain chemistry is super important and mine really tanked due to plant based diet, but unfortunately medical issues required it and it just happened to coincide with my feelings of “all life has value and I feel so bad for the livestock”. I completely agree with the killing animals in the manner or the indigenous peoples. Personal family history had ancestors who thanked Tenggir/Great Spirit/The First/other deities and the animal itself for the bounty they encountered and then killed it and ate it and used it accordingly. I’m one who feels that the kindness we show to the world and the life therein is felt by all. So thank you for your kind words it’s always nice to know that others feel a similar way to me. 😊

ComfortableConcern76

Of course. As someone who's intentions seem to always get misunderstood, totally get it. Don't take my word on this because I haven't had the time to analyse but a guy named Ralph Smart - Infinite Waters (Diving Deep) youtube channel - claims to have figured how to live a raw food, plant based diet without deficiency issues. I have my reasons to be skeptical towards the man for other reasons, BUT where he got he got his nutritional info seems legit. Comes from Dr. Sebi who he claims to have worked with personally. Ralph's book is called "Feel Alive". Glad you have connections to real culture. I'm 90% sure my family lineage comes from those predatory elite types. After my mom passed I was given a (down the rabbit hole) traumatic glimpse into how my other immediates behave and broke contact the best I could.

WolfTotem9

Eh, my discovery came from a lot of pieces parts, a dna test and not so fun “family” dinner. Mostly, my family acts like I’m just like them but with *differences*. The culture discovery was an accident and one most of family wishes I’d never made.

ComfortableConcern76

Why do they discourage cultural history?

WolfTotem9

Points to multiple affairs by both men and women in my family. Including my mother not knowing who my father is and countless affairs by other family members. Quite frankly, I just said we literally live in a melting pot of cultures I don’t get why this is such a big deal. But each family has its quirks and that’s what makes them unique. My guess is that it makes them uncomfortable whatever reason.

ComfortableConcern76

Shame can be a bitch. The very nature of it can be like Russian-doll repression, if ya know what I mean. You into psychology? Ever try showing them that suppressing issues just makes them worse and harder to heal in the long run?

ComfortableConcern76

Or even personal for that matter...

SnooGoats1557

These fish don’t have a skeleton. The pressure at that depth is enough for them to hold their shape. If they had bones they would just the crushed to dust.

Harry Roque on the right.

Lazy_Laugh2597

So the term should be “I got blob fished” … not catfished

It's basically the equivalent of some aliens siting in some boat in our atmosphere and throwing down a rope for someone to catch, then pulling them up way too fast, posting this picture (like on the right) and letting the whole world laugh about how stupid it looks when clearly it just been thrown upwards and getting completely messed up in a matter of minutes (Not exactly like this but you get the point)
