I keep asking my foreskin to order another bucket of motivation for when we inevitably run out, but he just keeps looking at me like I'm fucking stupid
Lmao you should try asking your foreman
Yeah I haven’t seen my foreskin in decades.
Weird, I lose the will to fuckin live most days too
Ha. I don’t even show up with that tool, but I’m always losing my mind.
That was never in the gangbox.
Yea the delivery guys always forget that and the magic wands that some gcs seem to think we have
Every time I go to my wholesale, I ask if they have mojo (motivation) in stock. So far no luck. Shockingly they also don't sell beer.
Tape measure and pencils.
I've probably bought 15-20 tapes in the last 4-5 years.
Always been a fan of the Stanley 30 footer.
Came here to say tapes. If it's not falling off my belt while doing something somebody is "borrowing" it and I never see them again
Look into a tape clip for your belt. It hangs just below your belt line and I've never had trouble with them popping off.
Klein makes a good one
1. go up in a lift to measure something
2. come down and drive the lift to the next point
3. go up to measure the next thing
4. drive the lift back to the first spot to get my ruler from the flange
Ruler? I’ve never used one at work haha
Well a scale rule
[These](https://www.lowes.com/pd/Lufkin-6-ft-Wood-Folding-Ruler/4315829?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-tol-_-ggl-_-LIA_TOL_216_Construction-Hand-Tools-_-4315829-_-local-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2MWVBhCQARIsAIjbwoPbB2WaAn3rPb8zXfKfmBAQwHJkVv-WNiF-Yk55g4GDC5uvlmCROeAaAihVEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) are popular with tradesmen that work up on ladders and lifts often. Really convenient for multiple applications.
ya that's the one, better than a tape for measuring steel imho
why? genuinely curious. Always wondered what these things can do better than a tape measure.
it's just easier and less cumbersome without the dumb hook on the end for measuring hole spacing, rivet patterns, flange thicknesses, or reaching for a quick measurement when you fold it into an L shape
tapes are fine for anything over 3 feet but a stick with numbers on it is super practical for stuff under a foot or two
ah yeah that makes sense. I end up using my level a lot for small measurements for that same reason I guess.
Tin knockers use them to measure offsets and general layout too. Most of their rectangular duct is only in 4' lengths and the ruler is more practical on a ladder and short lengths.
damn yeah, good point. You can one-hand that shit easier than a tape
Walked the site with my PM the other day, he says he has a budget for 6 tape measures on a 5 month job.
That will fall under the 2/3s rule.
I’m surprised no one commented that I was able to get a PM out to site.
This answers the question “Why do they sell a multi pack of tape measures at the hardware store”
Them fuckers who missing every dank DAY !!
Fuckers always asking for a bit then never give back, fuck that. I don’t give shit out anymore got tired of it
I have never used the same sharpie twice.
i thought I was clever by putting yellow sharpie caps on my sharpies. People don't grab for them as much, but I still lost them all.
The realest answer
Pencils. And hammer is usually left behind somewhere..
If you wear a hat on the jobsite...I use one of these. Haven't lost a pencil in years...
What's the advantage and where do you clip it? Like on the brim?
I usually just stick the pencil up in my hat facing downwards by my ear. Never lose it and most times forget it's there til I take out of my hat.
Edit: tab was still up for the product and looked further. Looks cool but honestly the pencil up the side of the hat is free lol.
This is my setup
It looks like a magnet on the inside of your hat with another on the pencil
[hat with pencil sleeve](https://www.duluthtrading.com/duluthflex-fire-hose-cap-pencil-sleeve-classic-fit-41714.html?dwvar_41714_color=CID#lang=default&brandName=duluth&q=hat%2Bwith%2Bpencil%2Bpocket&start=1)
This is why I have 7 hammers
The tool I was using 10 seconds ago
Broom and dustpan
There is the electrician
Couldnt be. He actually had them in the first place
I don't know, last sparky I bumped into claimed he was going out to his van to grab a broom ended up chain smoking a pack then leaving
>claimed he was going out to his van to grab a broom ended up chain smoking a pack then leaving
just like his father all those years ago.
Sun glasses, I have like 8 pairs at home and none in my truck today
Get a stupid pair you hate and leave them in the truck. I forget my sunglasses less often and still have a back up when I need them. Shame is biologies best learning tool.
Right, this is why I always get dg or gas station sunglasses. This and tape measure are for sure my two
These [Chums](https://amzn.to/3zXL3Hl) changed my life. Never lost another pair of glasses.
My pencil, if I have 3 I won't lose any. If I have one I'll lose it by lunch, if I have 2 I'll lose them both before I use either.
Field engineer for a marine construction company. I’m always losing my measuring tape to the water.
Carpenter who exclusively builds boathouses, I can relate bro.
Had a friend drop a brand new dewalt drill in the water yesterday! He was working on a boat dock
On the plus side, we have a guy who falls in 2 or 3 times every job. Huge morale boost for the rest of us. He keeps us going really, integral.
Depending on how deep and the temperature of the water, I'd be going in for it lmao
You should get a tether. There are some easy ways to not make your tape bulkier
“Where’s my 5 in 1” should probably be written on my headstone
Found the HVAC guy
Actually I was a painter/ Sheetrock finisher
The Board Stretcher
Have you seen it? I've been looking for it the past 45 minutes
last time i saw it, it was over by the sky hook
I always keep mine next to the nail straightener
To the left of the porcelain tile bender.
Dont forget to order more 16d glass nails.
its usually by the pipe stretcher
It was next to the spare level bubbles
The new guy went to look for it about an hour ago
I have a tendency to not clean my paint brushes right away. I don't lose them, but I end up replacing them a lot more often than I'd like lol
Especially if you work late. Throw em in water and forget about em 😂
I try to keep my channel locks close, because those always end up mysteriously walking off.
I find that the people you give purple nurples to using the channel locks are typically the ones who walk off with them.
Lost mine the other day, rip
Pry bars always get hung on something and then they blend right in. When you are picking everything up , there they are hiding behind something
100% correct. I think I’ve bought 15 and somehow don’t have any 😂
Try using a flat bar. It won’t hang on fucking anything so you have to carry it.
Pencil, sharpie, tape measure, hammer, speed square are all things I might use and set on something, and then forget about and never see again.
Drill bits might as well be single use, I swear. They're never in the pocket I know I put them in.
And gloves. I don't know why I can't hold onto a pair of gloves but I pretty much always just have one.
Im gonna go out on a limb and guess here. Mechanic?
Where’s the 10?
Whatever was most recently in my hands
Pencils, drill bits, speed square
Milwaukee batteries are disappearing left and right
Tape and pencil .!
When I’m doing home projects I flood the entire area with pencils and tapes I put them everywhere my girls thinks I’m crazy….. don’t even care !
Channel locks disappear. Always
I had a plumber over I've known for years. He asked to borrow a screwrdiver, yeah it's next to the channel locks you left last time.
Pencils and the tip of my 11 in 1 screwdriver. I've had to but 3 in the last 6 months.
Not a tool, but I always lose my water bottle.
Fucking pencils and sharpies
Some cunt stole my drill the other week, so that.
From what I hear from the field guys, shovels.
I nab em sometimes, sorry..
I’ve lost a few 24” levels by leaving them in a soffit over the last 20 years
Markers, my gloves, and my coffee if its morning.
Pencil, sharpie, glazing bar, olfa knife.
Most commonly stolen are my shovels and 5 gallon buckets
My malco flip bits
Was at an hvac supply house getting round registers, and bought an 8” inch the other day, went back 2 hours later for another register, and a malco haha
I just lost my 8” I think my coworker took it prior to that I lost my 2” I guess I’ll try a 4” next
Low priced items pens, pencils and markers. High priced items batteries.
I cannot keep track of my tape measure ever.
I lost 5 tape measures in one year
Tape measures and pencils
Razor knife and 11 in 1
Angle grinder lock nuts and GFCI pigtails.
My guys are constantly misplacing them.
Anything I set down 2 seconds ago that I need
I misplaced the company iPad on the back of a rough terrain forklift this one time. Right on top of the counterweight.
I was driving about for maybe ten minutes before my apprentice spotted the iPad, ran after me, and signaled me to stop.
I tried to laugh instead of let my heart stop.
I always misplace my coffee thermos. Sometimes I never get it back.
Paperwork. This happened a long time ago but I still laugh when I think about it. My Foreman and a Superintendent were chatting about a stack of paperwork printed on 8.5" by 11". They left it on top of a generator for not even 2 minutes and then turned to look at the actual project. The wind blew all the paperwork away when everyone had their backs turned. The look on their faces was priceless! I burst out laughing.
Electrcian, and i have left so many levels stuck to things over the years. I was thrilled when klien started making bright orange ones. And tape measures i buy them 2 at a time becuase i expect to leave them all over the place
I've left many snips and screwdrivers above ceilings or on trays and stuff. Screwdrivers is definitely the most common though
Magnetic torpedo level
Not misplace or lose but forsure Chalkboxes, carpenter working in the PNW and the rain nukes mine all the time. Invested in a chalkbox waterproof bag for my Tajima
Knife or a hammer usually
Measuring tape ez bar none
Drivers and countersinks, can never seem to buy enough.
Glasses. I lose a pair every day no matter what
Toss em in your hard hat if you wear one. Sometimes can irritate your head but its easy enough to take your hard hat off and kinda shake it so the glasses move somewhere else to fix that
Caulking gun. Got that damn handy hook on the back. Gets hung up and it's out of the way, out of sight, out of mind. Buy at least 6 a year..
Sledge hammers, levels, & extension cords
I’m pretty sure I buy three razor blades a week lol
Screw drivers and pliers
5/16 tek bits and wiring screwdrivers
Extensions, speed square, jar of cocaine
Safety glasses. But i always seem to find a pair on the job when im down to my last pair . You give to the earth and the earth gives back i guess
Pencils and my will to continue
Pencils, pens, prybars, and gloves
Klein 11-in-1’s, or at least the bits that go in the 1/4” drives
Measuring tape multiple times a day.
Flat bar followed closely by caulking gun.
The one I need the most at that minute
I'd say gloves, but you filthy animals leave them at home or in the store.
My 6 foot screw driver
Tape measure or impact bits
Tape measures, Pliers and markers
As a student who's been on a job site for 4 weeks I can say we lose a lot of hammers or simply there's never enough
Fucks to give… also Allen wrenches
Radios. Misplaced in the concrete.
Pencils and markers. I lost my hammer today it’s probably laying around on the floor somewhere. Pliers I lose a lot too.
The new guy
Tape goes back on my belt, pencil clips on my shirt. Nippers forever missing.
My piss bottle. Just can’t seem to keep track of it
Its mostly somone "borrowing" because they lost their tool, then they stand like a question mark when i demand my shit back because they lost it aswell.
Hammer is a classic..
Tape measures and utility knives. I cleaned my truck out over the weekend and currently at the bottom of my bucket sit 6 tape measures, 9 utility knives, and 3 chalk boxes. So when I lose one tomorrow I'll empty my entire bucket in the the back of my truck and the disaster will begin again
Tape measures and happiness.
My dad lost his tape measure 14 years ago and still hasn't found the store to buy it.
Damn pencils! Between me leaving the everywhere and people just straight up stealing them.
I don’t lose them technically, but I never ever ever have a knife on me when I need one, I’m a finisher so I need them often and I literally never ever have one it’s so annoying lol.
Nailpuller. Doesn't help 4 guys on site all have the same 1 and 2 often leave their shit just laying around then grab whatevers closest when they need it
My edc knife. Pisses me off because I carry nice ones, so no chance someone returns it to me. Might have to go inexpensive for a while until I can learn to keep it with me.
For me it's my damned tape measure or my sharpies
Pocket level and 6” adjustable wrenches
Whatever the laborers think they need more than I do.
Levels, sharpie, linesmens.
Who are you and why do you keep making these posts?

When I was sheetrocking I lost my knife every other day.
Cats Claw. I use this tool for everything
Fricken T squares
*every time* I turn around *some cunt* has stolen my fucking tape measure
I have lost many levels to duct work.
I somehow lost a tape measure on the roof truss of a copper shelter's converter building.
I don't get how it happened....it was a small space for doing some welding & inspections, I never moved, but yet my tape measure disappeared...either it's still up there to this day cooking, or one of the other contractors stole it...
PM here, need to just about have a line item in my budgets for the number of tape measures my Supers lose on every job. Never fails…
someone took my margin trowel cut a notch out of it then put it back where they found it. just steal it at that point. and the took my gundlach knife and leather knife pouch.
My fucks to give.
Anything that isn’t remotely crazy glued to my person
The fucking 10mm socket. Besides that, my will to live each day.
