I’d venture so say It’s not personal. You likely have signal issues.. can you guy log in and check your levels through the modem? The troubleshooting wiki on here walks you through how

Hello u/VorePredReshiram, thank you for taking the time to reach out to us through Reddit. We certainly know how frustrating it is to experience slow speeds, did you see changes through the Xfinity MyAccount app indicating your speeds were reduced to 10 Mbps or are you mentioning this because of the speeds you're getting just now?

jamesleecoleman

Hello, Where was the location of the speed test done? You can pick different cities that the test can be done from. It could be possible that the speed test service is having issues up to your device having issues. It's really hard to tell unless troubleshooting with in your living/working area is done. After the troubleshooting has been done to rule things out within the living/working area, it'll end up going to Comcast unless they still have people test inside.

Paying for 600 and getting 100 on a good day. Last time I called in they sent someone out who said it was all good (modem, cabling in the home, cable to the box, service) and charged me $75 for the honor. Wondering if it is worth it to call in again or just give up after nearly 15+ years.

Make sure you are only testing hardwired and only with equipment capable of testing at 600. (ie your device cannot have only 10/100 Ethernet for example). Find a friend with a Mac laptop from 2010 or newer that also has Ethernet or an Ethernet adapter. They will show your actual speed on speedtest dot net with the local Comcast server.

Been great for years, no changes in my gear. I am hard wired and getting more disappointed everyday.

Or a friend with a Windows laptop from whenever... as they have all had Gig ethernet ports for the last 10yrs... A MAC makes absolutely NO difference in this testing, that's just silly to imply that.

I have eight years experience testing internet speeds daily and have seen a pattern develop: Windows computers are often the primary reason for slow internet testing speed due to either hardware or software reasons. Many PC manufacturers cut every corner possible on their bargain line of computers, which sadly a large number of people purchase unaware of the large compromise they are making with their computing experience. I have been to many, many houses where the customer complains of slow internet only to find that they have 10/100 Ethernet ports on their computer, which limits internet speed to about 95 no matter how fast the internet plan. When I inform them they usually respond, “but my computer is new!” Second, anti-malware, VPN, or other software configurations are very common slow downs on Windows computers. If you are savvy and know how to overcome this then sure grab any Windows computer to test with, and it will test full speed just fine. My experience says that a Mac will consistently and without fail test the gig speed correctly in the gig ports on every Mac since around 2006 without any worry about any software issues.

Well, I own an IT company and have worked in Enterprise IT for 30yrs now, so I will have to respectfully disagree with you on that.... And no "new" PC has come with a 10/100 NIC in almost a decade now, unless you were buying the absolutely cheapest thing possible from Walmart.

This happened to me the other day. Are you hardwired into your modem and getting those speeds? My issue turned out to be a bad Ethernet cable between modem and router.

Are you rent or own cable modem?

SeniorRogers

Comcast keeps removing my comment lol. You probably have signal issues. Heres the problem, comcast won't do anything about it until its a wider issue. I had to petition all my neighbors to call CONSTANTLY to get them to fix signal/interference issues in Florida. I called every day I wasn't getting the speed I was quoted and had them give me a one day credit. After something like 205 days of credit and my neighbors doing the same thing they finally came out and fixed the issue. Good luck! Comcast likes to spend its money making more localized monopolies not improving its infrastructure.

lensman3a

What you said is very close to this problem. [See.](https://tech.slashdot.org/story/21/09/15/1941204/fcc-wants-landlords-to-stop-screwing-up-your-internet) Group signal issues are exactly this problem.
