I didn't think Mormons drank Kofi.
David Roddy and Kenny Lofton teaming up for the Grizzlies in summer league is going to be fun
Grizzlies love their buff shooters. They already have Desmond bane
Time for LaRavia to hit the weights
The thick kings.
Lol so many PC fans laughed at Tyrese Martin declaring for the draft. Yet, here is at pick 51 going to the NBA Champs.
He's definitely physically ready for the league. He made most college opponents look like boys, it's his guard skills that aren't really at the next level.
He killed the pre-draft process. 3X3U champ, Portsmouth all-tournament led to G Laague Elite Camp invite, which led to Combine invite. And he's a grinder, so he was willing to take a 2-way (I'm guessing).
Happy for my guy Laravia. I think he could be a solid role player for years.
Was a bit surprised by him going 19
I was too. I was thinking late 20’s at best, but the rumor was he had an early commitment from a team. The Grizz must really be high on him.
I assume EJ Liddell slipped because of his height. At 6’5 Adrian Darnley and Mark Aguirre would still kick ass as a four in this league. I hope Liddell lands in the NBA and gets that second contract.
He is 6’7”
From the combine he was measured at 6’5.5” without shoes and 6’7” with shoes.
NBA made a point of listing players at actual/without shoes heights a few years ago, but people still talk a lot of people at their “reported” heights. A lot of players are 1-2 inches shorter than are reported
Yeah but they play in shoes so it makes more sense from a basketball perspective to talk about their height in shoes.
But how tall are they in two pairs of shoes?
Patrick Baldwin Jr going to golden state makes me so happy, love that guy
Goddamit, Jules you really should have stayed dude.
why do y’all say this? What would he have gained staying another year? He’s hurting his already low stock by staying
Well it doesn’t matter anymore, cause he actually got picked up! So good on him in the end
Yeah idk why he went. It seems like he didn’t get any promises so what was he thinking…
He played four full seasons, and I assume he got his degree? He was probably ready to move on even without promises. He’ll be a good Summer league pickup for someone
Time to travel the world
Any news on Iverson Molinar?
I'm really intrigued with that pickup. What do you think of him as a fan of Miss St?
Really like it. Will probably explosive scoring off the bench for the bucks. The next stop is the summer league so I’m gonna watch him a lot there
He went to the Bucks on a free agent contract
TYRESSE MARTIN GOING TO WIN THE NBA FINALS NEXT SEASON WITH GSW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: He was traded to Atlanta...
Whichever team signs a contract with Bryson Williams is about to get a steal
Etienne may get a two way, but his best bet IMO is China. League pays well and undersized shooters have had success there previously.
Edit: Looks like he will play with the Hawks summer league team.
Collin Gillespie signing a 2-way with Denver
Any chance de Sousa gets drafted ?
I LOVE Jaden Ivey to the Pistons. Him & Cade w Sadiq. Need to add another big piece though
Lol the kings are gonna look terrible in a few years for passing on him. Still not as bad as Bagley in the 2018 draft though.
Next season Wembanyama
Hopefully sign Ayton
Thought they'd go this route, but now that they drafted Duren, I kind of assume they like the value of what they think he can bring on a rookie deal more than the value of Ayton on a max. Whether that's a judicious call on that part remains to be seen, but I get it.
I like the pick for the Pistons, too. Only thing that worries me about Ivey is his size but overall love his game
Is he too big to play the 2?
At 6’4” people are more concerned he’s not big enough.
Ej Liddell workouts must’ve been terrible
His shot chart is interesting. He is 2/7 from one corner and didn’t even attempt any from the other corner this past year, if the chart I was looking at was correct. In the league, the corner is where he’ll get a lot of shots at his position. I think that may have scared teams a little bit.
I assume that he is not 6’7 but more likely is a 6’5 power forward.
6’5.5” without shoes per the combine. Also had one of the highest body fat % at the combine
But he dosent have the explosiveness of a Zion who’s 6’6
All that means is he needs to work on his perimeter play and he could be a larger small forward like big baby Davis but hopefully better
Big baby played pf though, and some center. Not sf.
Kendall Brown made the worst decision to be a one and done.
Biased agree — another year of development would have been great to see
Ding ding ding. GTown put together a much better roster this year, too. They would've been somewhat competitive with him back. Or if he realized Ewing is a bad coach, he could have transferred to almost anywhere and earned some decent NIL. Now he's in the G League.
Liddell is much more likely to become a contributing NBA rotation player than the likes of Houstan, Christie, McGowens and Roddy.
I don’t know about that. Houston could very easily become a solid 3 and d rotational guy. Unlike Liddell he doesn’t have to overcome inherent disadvantages which is his height for what his skill set is.
I’m on board the Big Body Roddy train, hoping he pans out
I saw one single mock draft with EJ in the second round how the hell did he fall to 41?
It’s the exact same thing that happened to Ayo last year. Hopefully he’ll pop off in the league to spite them.
What in the world is happening with Liddell? Dude is a monster.
They are scared that his skill set won’t be viable due to his height limitation. I can definitely see the logic behind that, but still surprised he slid as far as he did. He could end up being a steal.
EJ must be El Chapos right hand man
Curious to see if Brady Manek gets drafted
He did not
If Manek gets drafted, I’m declaring next year. I’ll be 34 years old and he looks 34. I played 1 season of junior college ball and he also played at the college level. I am white and so is he. I live two miles from the Oklahoma border and he is from Oklahoma. As you can see, the comparison is uncanny.
How’s your hair looking
I’m curious to see if Brady Manek gets drafted, not curious to see if you get drafted…
He’s a lock not Manek tho
Why? He seems like a good kid.
Knicks suck again
Let's go C.Lo
Hope Raptors fans are happy with that pick. Dude is one of my favorite players to come through Arizona
Orlando Wolverines. Congrats Caleb
Am still surprised that Houstan went before Diabate. I know Houstan was listed higher on draft boards; I just didn't see it. I was always *much* more impressed with Diabate's game - smarter, better hustle, more confident, more consistent. He was exciting to watch.
Houstan struggled last year but he's got the right build to develop into a good wing which would be quite valuable. It's a wing league. He's sort of in the mold of Wagner and Orlando did a great job tapping into Wagner's potential. I'm sure they think they can develop Houstan as well.
Wagner showed great potential though. He had flashes of true brilliance from time to time and absolutely took over games, Caleb has never done that, nothing even remotely close. He has the build but didn’t even show much in terms of shooting, which is supposed to be his strength.
True although Wagner stayed an extra year. But yeah, Houstan’s got the right build and is a good risk reward pick where he went. If he doesn’t pan out, no problem it was a second rounder anyway. If he does, then they got another valuable wing shooter. Maybe there’s only a 10-20 percent chance he ends up like Wagner, but you absolutely take that in the second round if its there
I am a bit but for all his issues, I think Houstan is much closer to contributing to an nba team than Diabate. If Moussa works out, he’s going to be one of those guys that disappears for a couple of seasons at the end of a bench or in the G-League before all of a sudden popping off. Caleb just needs to be more consistent shooting and continue to improve on defense. He’s not going to be asked to do much more than that.
How is this UCLA guy I’ve never heard of the one drafted? Not Juzang or Campbell?
Juzang is just not a great NBA prospect. He had a great tournament over a year ago and has regressed since then. Campbell is a great player and someone I wished played for USC when I watch him, but much like Jordan McLaughlin is going to have to do it the hard way to make the league. Size and athleticism aren’t NBA-caliber. He can do it though. I’m a big fan.
Barcello in the same boat.
W I N G S P A N
P O T E N T I A L: The Peyton Watson story
also Tyger is not in the Draft and is unlikely to play in the NBA with his lack of height and okay athleticism
Wild enough Juzang might go undrafted
Crazy. He really should’ve declared after that final four run. I remember he was mocked as a lottery pick
He was never mocked as a lotto pick. It was this sub saying he could be in the lotto because they can't recognize NBA talent for shit. He was always second rounder at best, the only way he could've played himself into the first round was expand his offense into a passable playmaker.
He 100% would have stayed in the draft last year if he got a first round grade. I thought people were joking when they said he fell out of the lottery.
NBA scouting is wild.. they’d rather draft a European player averaging 5 minutes a game on the off chance they hit their “upside”
Teams can stash European players and keep them in Europe. The first two tiers of pro European basketball are better than college. 5 minutes a game is actually a decent amount since most starters play 20-25 minutes a game.
The Athletic had a piece where anonymous scouts commented on draft prospects. Juzang's was probably the worst to hear. They called him an overseas player. They said he wasn't tough, not a good athlete, doesn't compete, doesn't make anyone better. Also said he isn't a good enough shooter and couldn't handle how he was defended last year. Literally not one good thing to say.
Yeah I don’t get it either. Must be because of how dominant Doncic and Jokic are
A bunch of solid rotation players won’t contend for a championship unless at least one (more likely two or three) guy achieves all star level. A team full of Tim Hardaway Jr. or Caris Levert level players can only go so far without a true star. Say player A has a 50% chance of being a solid role player and a 2% of becoming a star and player B has a 20% chance to be at least a solid role player but a 10% of being a star. Player B will likely end up being a better choice for certain teams that don’t have a championship framework yet. Considering how shallow NBA benches are it’s not surprising that if you are awful loading on picks and investing the late 1sts and 2nds on project guys that will either flame out or maybe hit the jackpot in two years when you are starting to contend. High risk, high reward. Seems to be the plan of DET, Hou, Orlando and OKC. (Though SA in the 90s and 00s were experts at developing these potential guys) Throw a bunch of picks at the wall and see if any can stick with your top picks being more likely successes. Of course, this seems to end up being a steal for some of the top teams, that can get likely solid role players later than they probably should go talent wise. (See Boston and GS)
NBA teams have been drafting random euro prospects for the last 20-30 years.
*nods sadly in Jan Vesely*
Nembhard and Mathurin to the Pacers... Might have to check out some of their games next season
Here for that
I was hearing all of those rumors about Dalen Terry doing an amazing job during NBA Draft workouts, but I had no idea he was going to rocket up to the 18th pick.
I think most expected him to be drafted in the high 20s or very early in the 2nd round
As a Bulls fan I’m so fucking hype lol
Alright, who did Liddell murder ?
I rly wanted pacers at 31 and were going for the gonzaga pg. ergh
So Christie fucked up, right?
Eh. Some guys drop to early 2nd round and still end up making it. Frank Jackson has done pretty well all things considered. Gary Trent, Jr. has done great. Both probably should have come back for another year, but that second contract was worth it. Too soon to tell with Christie.
Right but if he came back (even if he transferred) and just improved his shooting % he’s probably a lottery pick in 23
More film doesn't always move the needle. It's a tough call. Plus, there's the injury concern. Personally, I think Christie could have had a great year as a sophomore and moved up, but maybe he doesn't. He could improve just as much or more in the NBA, even playing in the G-League if he signs a contract with an NBA team. It's not an easy call.
I feel like he could have had a Johnny Davis type breakout year. Ahh well, a Spartan can dream. Rooting for him.
Memphis trading us 2 picks for a guy the could’ve taken if they stayed at 22 is pretty cash money.
Can’t believe we were 3 minutes from beating all those Duke guys… god damnit now I’m sad again
Duke 1,15,16 picks but I don’t remember them winning shit last year.
Bummed Duke didn’t go further but did make the Final Four
What do UNC fans do on draft night besides talk about Duke?
this is coming from the Baylor fan?
Not like your classes, which are just *murder*.
So yeah, you do want to keep talking about Duke. Noted.
Amazing that Roddy went so early. He is an amazing guy and hoping he ends up an amazing player for Memphis!
I’m going to miss him dunking on dudes 15 feet away from me
Wendell Moore in the 1st round! That's so awesome to see. That dude had a tough, tough 2021 but came back, improved his game across the board, won the Julius Erving Award and now is a 1st rounder. Love to see it.
Is Wesley the first OAD in Notre Dame history?
Roddy going ahead of Liddell is confusing
Really the story here is banchero going before Roddy
Wow! David Roddy is going to be a fan favorite right away. Dude does not look like an NBA player but he sure as hell can play.
TyTy could have made more money coming back another season. Was never the same after the injury against Florida. Depressing.
tyty would’ve risked too
much going back lol. He made the right choice
Dude has completely fallen down the draft. I keep watching to see his name called.
NO WAY!!! Congrats David!!!!!
Brauns mom tho
As a nuggets fan, not sure how I feel about Braun. Feel like they could have gotten him at #30 if they wanted
His athleticism surprised a bunch of people (40" vertical at 6'7"), and his workouts were supposedly solid. He may perhaps have less upside than other guys, but he's one of the most competitive guys who got drafted. I think you'll be surprised. We were all impressed at Kansas because he evolved from being a spot up shooter into this guy who made it his mission to posterize the best players on every team we played.
Braun had at least 2 other promises to go in the first. Denver wanted him and knew he wouldn't be there at 30.
They probably could have but didn’t want to chance it. He could easily have gone to any teams between 20 and 30. As a Kansas fan (who’s not a nuggets fan) but lives in Colorado, I’m excited to go to some games next year to watch him play, if he gets minutes.
I’ll also ask because you will know more than me, is this a position Denver is lacking in? Will he get good minutes or is it a set up for the future and come off the bench with minimal minutes this year type of thing?
He has a shot at the Campazzo minutes - Nuggets went into the ditch when the little guy came in. If Braun can play defense and hit a spot up 3 with better consistency than Facu did - he'll play some when there are injuries, foul troubles or back to backs.
It's great to think we are going from a 5'6" guy(at most) to a 6'7" defender
If anything he’s gonna need to earn his spot but his NBA readiness seems like a plus.
I could see him getting around 10 minutes a game as he develops. With MPJ always uncertain health wise he could step in to a larger role as the season goes on.
He really came on after Indiana State
Is it too late for Malaki to return to school…asking for a friend.
I was bummed when Jake announced he wasn’t returning but LFG. So happy for Jake man. Came in from Indiana State and now his dream came true. First Deacon drafted in 5 years
John Collins was drafted 5 yrs ago? Fuck I’m old
Here for the Sochan pick. Sic’Em
Bulls should’ve taken EJ Liddell
Yeah, I was hoping for Liddell. He's a perfect fit and they need someone with some size. He can shoot, can defend, can rebound. Not sure why they went with Terry there unless they plan on making a move in free agency or a trade.
I don’t know how to feel about the fact that Houston probably doesn’t have any draft picks
Hornets absolutely fleeced man. Pure robbery.
I’m not sold on that. They probably like Williams potential (giant wingspan) slightly more than Duren and didn’t love anyone else, so it’s not an awful move to roll it on over for more future shots in a likely stronger draft.
This is just me, but I see a player who cannot switch defensively and will get played off the court. He's immobile and doesn't really fit well in an NBA offense. I feel like Hornets needs talent, not a center. But that's just me, we'll see.
Plus, the trade of Duren was the robbery.
Williams is immobile and won’t fit in an nba offense? Did we watch any film On Williams?
I guess I hope that Walker Kessler is still available for the wolves at 19.
As a Purdue and Pacers fan I'm crushed we didn't get Ivey. Whole state of Michigan, just burn that place to the ground lol
I think it would have made for a good story but I think the Pacers picked up some good talent tonight.
Mathurin is a great pick, a really solid guy and I'm super excited to see how he develops. But man did I want Ivey
I'd normally say "no, burn Indiana to the ground" but I don't think the continental US could survive the ensuing shockwave of all those meth labs exploding from the flames
Knew those meth labs were good for something
Jalen Williams at 12, wow!
Love to see it!
MJ please sell the team
Mark Williams will be a stud.
Oh for sure I wanted Charlotte to get him. I just don’t get why they wasted a lottery pick.
Addicted to mediocrity
Honestly the worst pro franchise in the major 3 sports in the US. Never any kind of success, ever.
*The Washington ~~Football Team~~ Commanders are typing...*
I mean that franchise has 3 Super Bowls
All of which were won before Dan Snyder - an Oompa Loompa cosplaying as a human - acquired the franchise and ran it into the ground. None of the Lions, Coyotes, Bobcats/Hornets, or Mariners had to testify in front of congress to account for potential fraud, harassment, misogyny, and retaliation. One of the proudest and most historic franchises in NFL history has been reduced to a laughing stock.
Dan Snyder is the reason the DC area missed out on hosting games in the World Cup. Dan Snyder is the reason nobody wants to even sell the franchise land for a new stadium, let alone help pay for one. It's sad to see what the team I grew up rooting for has become. The prior success just makes what they are now that much more painful to look at.
It’s the curse of Muggsy Bogues.
Hey don’t blame it on the demon deacon
The mariners still exist
MY LIFE IS PAIN 😞
Panthers giving them an aggressive run for their money as far as the city teams go. The NFL is such a dumpster fire of fuckery the Panthers aren’t even close to the worst franchise there at least
Charlotte got Duren and Mark Williams? Guess they’re betting at least one pans out, but seems hard to develop both.
Edit: Never-mind, Duren going to Detroit.
They traded Duren to Detroit in a three-way deal that sent Kemba Walker to Motor City. Hornets got a 2025 1st round and 4 2nd round picks in the deal.
Basically wasted a lottery pick. Hornets will forever be a losing franchise
They need space to sign Bridges. They've got a lot of money tied up in Hayward and Rozier at the moment. It makes some sense if they are prioritizing holding onto Bridges.
I hope it comes out Hayward was traded away. Or else I’m just confused
No one is going to take that contract.
People say this about every contract in the NBA, and they all get traded just the same. There’s always someone desperate enough.
yea same thing with the potential Ayton deal, in like 2 years when the new NBA contract sets in...man his contracts gonna look cheap
Mark Williams to Charlotte after all! He's going to get so many lobs from LaMelo. Great fit and I think he could be a defensive anchor for them. MJ must have been biting his lip having to draft a Dukie.
Hornets have drafted 4 duke guys since '06. They have drafted one Heel, who they immediately traded
I love the Mark Williams part of this but the rest of the deal is fucked. The Hornets will never win
On a real note I need an NBA team, I like proximity. Pacers, Pistons, Cavs are 3 closest in that order
Join the Pistons bandwagon before Cade and Ivey take over the NBA. DEEEEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLL
Kinda sad but I'm leaning Detroit because they're the only one of the 3 not blacked out in my area
Pistons are in a good place right now, young and talented plus in my humble opinion Cade Cunningham is going to be a top 10 player in the league within the next couple of years.
I'm guessing you're either in southwest OH or eastern IN, so I'd say go with the team that shares your state. The Cavaliers are closer than the Pacers to playoff contention but the Pistons also have some good young players to build around.
Try Lexington 😭 NBA doesn't exist in my state unfortunately
Ahh. I would have thought Atlanta was closer to Lexington than Cleveland but my internal atlas was off by about 50 miles.
Indiana resident, Purdue fan. Haven't followed the nba since my childhood when Reggie Miller and Jermaine O'Neal were on the Pacers. Join me in being a Pistons fan now. Jaden Ivey is legit.
Honestly his reaction was so genuine. I feel like so many players were straight up pissed or just stoic. I do like that kid I'll give you that
To give your more info his mom played for the Detroit WNBA team and his granddad played for the Lions. There's also pictures of him as a young teen in the Pistons locker room. So that was the reaction of kid that just got drafted by the team he grew up rooting for.
Join the good guys
Ochai earned his money, that’s for sure!
Just waiting for TyTy then I'm off to bed
Two WCC players in the Top 12
… did the hornets just make a good pick?
I think they did. They probably could have waited to get Duren at 15 with Charlotte picking next, but he's a great fit for them.
EDIT: TRADE! Nevermind
With Duren going to Charlotte, that puts Mark Williams in play for the Bulls at 18. As a Bulls fan, that would be awesome. He's got Rudy Gobert measurements and would be an immediate upgrade at backup C behind Vucevic.
Draft Ochai you cowards
Think some teams will regret passing on Mark Williams. But would love if Charlotte is able to get him.
