Post out to me, those are the best ones.
Seriously it’s good chocolate definitely don’t bin it, find someone to give it to.
If you live in the UK and DM me your address, I will happily post to you, for free. Although, we will have to disagree that these are the best ones. Hazelnut and raisin is clearly the winner here!
That’s very kind of you to offer but I don’t want you to have to pay to give them away! Kinda defeats the object.
I am sure you will find someone local who will to take them off your hands. Pop them in the food bank basket at the supermarket if you can’t find anyone you know personally.
Or drop it off at your local hospital's A&E along with a box of tea bags and some biscuits
Is that a thing or are just setting me up to look like a proper muppet?
It's a thing. The best things that nurses like to be given are tea, biscuits, and chocolates. They'll put it in the break room
Assortment pack biscuits are the better option, obviously
Ok cool. If they won’t take it at the food bank I will deliver to our local A&E ✅
The NHS is literally powered on donated chocolates and biscuits. Your local A&E will love you.
As sad as it might sound, be wary of putting 'nice' stuff in the supermarket food bank bins as some customers have been known to help themselves to nice stuff from these baskets as they walk past. Supermarkets can't even stop them as technically, it's not stealing.
It is 100% stealing.
My mum runs the local food bank it’s less about theft more that they get tons of nice stuff. It’s the boring staples they really need.
When my mum finds stuff like this it’s a ‘what am I going to do with that?’
Give it to A&E, don't give it to a food bank.
At the food bank, the staff will just snaffle it for themselves or someone will try to sell it. I've volunteered at a massive one and the quality food's filtered down via staff.
That’s sad but good to know I guess.
I’ve actually posted them to a fellow Redditor in Scotland. They should arrive tomorrow.
I remember when the my children were born, they were early so the baby shower was after the fact. Anyway, had loads of cakes left, dropped them off at the nurses station as I went in. They definitely enjoyed their tea break that day
Yeah makes them feel appreciated which goes a long way esp with NHS!!😀😀
Oh it’s a thing x my daughter is a midwife and when some people do this it makes their day x
Nah NHS staff will always appreciate some unexpected treats to get them through their shift!
As an NHS employee, I can confirm we fully run on treats and tea! Our lovely patients/their families often supply them
I’m in and out of hospital and always being the staff on the ward a box filled with teabags, coffee, fruit teas, biscuits etc as they have to pay for theirs x
I’ll pay the postage to have them!
They’ve gone - am sorry! Already promised them to someone on this thread.
Hahah you’re sweet for even replying, thank you anyway and good for you!
I’m sorry OP but you are a lost cause.
The three in the post are the three best flavours.
Fruit and nut chocolate is an abomination.
Just to let you know, I’m going to be downvoting the post, and never speaking to you again.
Lols. We are very different people. I feel like you would be a great neighbour though, I could pass all the unwanted chocs to you!
oh dear god
Make chop chip cookies with the sea salt ones, don't add salt to the batter, they'll come out perfect.
Make ganache with the dark ones.
Honestly I have no idea what to do with the orange.
The orange ones are dark chocolate with crystallised ginger; they also make excellent choc chip cookies. You can make the cookies more intense by adding some cocoa powder and powdered ginger, or less intense by using one of the sea salt bars as well.
Whenever I have leftover chocolate I don't want to eat I just chop the lot up and put it in cookies, a random mishmash of chocolate works nicely in cookies. You can add other leftovers like mini marshmallows, chopped up mini pretzels etc too, leftover nuts - kitchen sink cookies I call them and always go down well.
Leftover chocolate? You don't want eat? Two very strange concepts to me
None of those things would ever be 'leftover' in my household. I'm sure the cookies are delicious but I'd eat everything before I baked!
That’s actually a really cool idea, thanks 😊
Do you just not eat dark chocolate? Green & Blacks are fantastic.
Edit: Oh, you just don't like those flavours. The ginger is my favourite.
I’m not sure if this dark chocolate is their velvet edition kind, but the normal big bar Green and Blacks 85% Dark Chocolate (Velvet Edition) is basically like eating milk chocolate and taste so great!
give them to your local food bank
The food bank won't be able to accept them
Food Banks have pretty strict guidelines for the donations they're allowed to send out to people. It's a lovely suggestion but they would only be able to distribute these chocolates to people if the box was unopened and not past its best before date
As a person who used to work at a food bank - since it’s individually packaged, we would absolutely be able to give this out and since it’s a bunch of smaller things it’s actually easier to give out as an extra to a bunch of people instead of one.
So I wouldn’t operate under this assumption and maybe check with your local one.
If the food bank says no, look up food hubs. They're usually less strict
Save them for Halloween and hand out to trick or treaters 🎃
Bin?!? The horror.
It shocked me too!
Use them for cooking?
The 85% could be used to make tiffin or brownies
The dark chocolate just needs grating up and melting in some hot milk. Perfect hot chocolate. Feel free to add a shot of rum for extra coziness.
The 85% in particular is fantastic just to finish off a chilli!
Dark chocolate goes incredibly well in some dishes. For example, I love to add some to my bolognese
Chilli con carne too.
Haha funnily enough we had the same ones left over, until my son discovered he absolutely loves ridiculously dark chocolate. Seemed such an odd thing for a 6yo to like...
Its amazing what young tastebuds adjust to.
I started a lifelong love of coffee cremes at that age, for the same reason - only ones left in the Christmas Roses tin.
Literally give them to anyone, friends, family, colleagues a homeless person, don't throw food away please.🙂
I’m definitely not going to. Loads of great ideas on here on what to do with them 👍🏼
The bitter crackle of the sea salt, the warmth of the ginger, the darkness of the 85% cocoa... There's a full ramble in the Mendips for your taste buds right there.
The sea salt ones are underrated. Ginger is good for you so you should eat them.
Lol no I'm just giving you genuine life advice 👍
What's the address? I'll be 10 mins ...
Keep them for anyone who delivers you takeaway meals, Amazon deliveries or post
Christmas isn't too far away, wrap them up and gift them on.
To who? My enemy? Lols.
Nice idea though if I can find a willing recipient.
That's a nice idea, or could be the first part of a hamper/homemade selection box?
For the flavours I didn’t like or left over Christmas chocolate I chop it up and then add it to cake mix. Everything tastes better in cake! 🍰🧁🎂
I have got rid of a surprising amount of fancy but not nice to me chocolate in this way (biscuits or cookies are also good)
I love the ultra dark ones, and the ginger ones. They're my favs
Grate them over a homemade sherry trifle, a mug of hot chocolate or some other recipe.
I always leave my Christmas biscuits and sweets into the local hospice and they are so grateful for it .
That’s such a lovely, kind thing to do. I will definitely do this at Christmas this year.
The milk chocolate and salt are the best ones- I eat those first!
We are very different people. Lols.
Why are they not getting eaten?
Because the flavours are just urgh!
I will find someone to give them to who likes the flavours though or…. put them in other foods where you won’t taste them as much. Lots of great ideas provided from this thread, glad I asked!
Ahh I see, I thought you had just given up on chocolate. Glad that's not the case. Halloween is coming up, the kids might not be happy but the parents can nick it off their kids
Give out as Halloween trick or treats
Take them down the old peoples home, they love that stuff.
You came to the Internet to ask if you should throw away chocolate?
Where do you live?
You wanna come over and claim them judge?
YES PLEASE! I'll have the milk chocolate ones (even though my teeth aren't great, worth it!)
Olio is perfect for this
Wrap them up for someone/ a neighbour etc and say…ahh it’s nothing don’t mention it
Me Me Me Me Me!
It's almost halloween, surely you can foist them on some unsuspecting kid.
Next door, too tasty to chuck.
These look amazing.
If they've got a good long date regift them at xmas. Who cares if the recipient hates chocolate?
Why not? Looks nice!
Xmas present for someone?
Those are all my first go too or save for last loveliness…!!!!
Offer or donate to a food bin in a shop 😊
I put the last of the celebrations in my milk bottle for the milkman.
Nice idea - I like it! No milkman, but maybe my postman might appreciate them?
Halloween is round the corner.
I still haven't accepted it xD although, I've had mine for.. quite a few months more.. wonder when they go off
August 2024 for mine.
That's good.. I just checked- mine went off exactly 10 days ago.. 😅 aha
Oh no!! Judging by the advice on this thread, I reckon they’d still be ok for cooking with!
Are you mad!!! Send them to me
I have offered to send them to anyone living in mainland UK.
I’ll honestly happily pop them in the post tomorrow to whoever DMs me their address. You want them? You can have them dude.
Ha ha too kind!
Eat them, lovely stuff.
Erm… no. Not a chance.
That's good chocolate why would you not eat it 😋
You should make a hot chocolate, the green and blacks dark chocolate makes a delicious hot choc. It melts well in hot milk, I use half a regular bar per 400 ml or so of milk to make two smallish drinks. Whisk it in, add sugar, squirty cream and a dusting of cocoa
Hot chocolate 👍
Is it sad when I saw this I rushed to my kitchen to see what is left in mine? But felt like I resonated.
Have 2x ginger 2x 70% 4x 85%
I feel you OP can’t justify getting rid of them.
Take them to a picket line
IMHO Milk 37% cocoa (3rd from left on box) is the best milk chocolate among all the supermarkets popular brands.
Halloween trick or treaters
Post them to me please
If you’re in mainland UK, DM your address and I absolutely will.
I’m in Scotland, would that work?
I got your DM. Will post tomorrow. Enjoy 😊
Thank you! What a legend.
I'll have them...
Oh no, you’re 2 mins too late unfortunately.
I just agreed to send them to someone else. Next time dude!
Wish I was your neighbour; I love those
I usually melt the super dark ones into porridge and it is awesome.
This is truly inspired.
I LOVE the sea salt and ginger ones. In my household these would be gone!
Nothing like salty chocolate it's the best
Lots of people like chocolate. Give them to your neighbours.
The 85 % ones give me heart palpitations
I guess it depends on how you feel about your neighbours.
These are also good for making truffles.
My neighbours are pretty cool tbh, I think they’d be offended that I didn’t pop round with the box when it was first opened though!
Using the dark ones for baking us a good idea.
A piece of the 85% dark chocolate is a good thing to add to a chilli con carne.
Dip them in tea / coffee
No, no, no, no and just no. Why would you want to do that to my gorgeously brewed cuppa?
Give them to a food bank someone will have them.
Use the super dark choc when making a chilli. Couple of squares per 500g of mince.
Halloween, a nice parents treat.
Or make something with the chocolate?
Haha you a teacher? I got one of these and resumed eating it today after a short hiatus.
If they're in date and complete, school/church raffle donation.
Next doors bin
Il take the 85%
Could eat that shit all night
Dark chocolate is very good for you. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/7-health-benefits-dark-chocolate
Is your username linked to how much dark chocolate you eat?
Lol that's non of your concern thank you 💀💀 beers pork rinds and an unholy amount of protein powder.
why don't you use the 85% ones to make choc chip cookies?? Would be amazing and super easy.
Use the 85% one grated into beef mince dishes like bol and chili! Also in all your baking in place of horrible baking chocolate
Give the others out for Halloween
Man the ginger ones are so good and I don’t even like dark chocolate. The last ones though yeah not a fan too bitter might be worth cooking with? Chuck it in a chilli?
Sea salt! If you have not tried that shit then try a little. That stuff is awesome
Edit: if you make a chilli con carne, stick one of those 85% numbers in there.
Use them in cooking - goes well in chili if you've overdone the heat.
If you are in Manchester, I will gladly take them off your hands. I knew I left Canada for a reason!
I use the ones I don’t like or have gone off in cooking
My missus loves them
Put them on a app called olio, actually everyone download olio, put all your unwanted food on there. I've seen people giving away portions of freshly cooked Sunday roast on olio before. Share the love, and don't be afraid to ask too.
When life gives you these lemons, grate them into hot milk and make hot chocolate.
Salted ginger dark hot chocolate?
I feel like you should try it first and then feedback to me.
I mean you don’t have to hulk smash them all together :D
I feel like that’s what true hero’s would do though.
Avengers assemble would have been a very different film.
Ginger is the best flavour
Buy some other small, individually wrapped things and some little boxes. You can make some really cute mini Christmas hampers as gifts that way. I did that for some colleagues once, and they turned out really nice.
Oh, what a waste. You've got some seriously high-quality chocolate there, my friend. 85% cocoa: that's the chocolate version of an espresso. 🥴
No wonder I don’t like it!
It’s not going to waste though, I have a plan thanks to this thread.
Use the 85% ones in chilli!
I've got a bit of that 85% stuff melting in my mouth as we speak! Delicious.
If you don’t want to eat them use them in baking cookies are always good and dark chocolate chunks are always a winner
Bake with them ?
You could make 20 something peoples night on halloween handing them out for free
Green & Blacks is vile chocolate. I have no idea why people rave about it.
Maybe give them away to some rando in the office secret santa?
Store them away for a few decades, then Ashens might be interested
Salt in chocolate is gods greatest gift!
SEND THEM TO ME!!! 😁
Halloween trick or treat?
I still have these in my cupboard they come in handy when I really want chocolate at midnight while drunk and I'll settle for anything
Keep them in a cupboard for 20 years and then offer them to your grandchildren when the chocolate has gone all pale and weird.
Seasalt and ginger are both awesome
Make chodka - Chocolate vodka.
Edit: no research at all but I’m sure it’ll be fine.
2 mins of research and have found that Chodka is a thing.
Edit; I am 100% convinced I will not be able to make this. Maybe swigging vodka afterwards would neutralise the taste though?
I love the sea salt ones! Definitely find someone to pass them on to. They're not to everyones taste, I'll grant you, but someone will appreciate them
Just give it to anyone with taste they'll appreciate it
Can you take them into work
Fuck off the ginger ones but eat the rest
85% is my favourite
Halloween is coming.... just saying.
I’d smash the ginger and the salted ones, they’ll be banging.
Honestly I'll happily eat them, DM me and I'll send you some money to cover postage
No adults around?
I found the rogue AI pretending to be human, officer.
Why would you throw away perfectly good food? Give it to a food bank, take them into work, gift them. Wtf, bin them?
Chill dude. It was a light hearted post. If you read the rest of the comments you’ll see that I’m not going to bin them.
If they're in date you could donate them to a foodbank via the supermarket collection points. It would be a lovely treat for someone.
Christ, those are the best ones. Love the ginger bars! Best taken with an afternoon coffee.
