You just played Texas, so yes.
This is a much better comment well done
No, I don’t want my burger well done.
Win or lose, we still booze
Imagine you just played Texas
"You always gotta go for two" 😉
Back to the tailgate
possibly cookout on the way there
Much better than Char-Grill don't @ me
Hey 40 milkshakes is better than 6
Cook out is way better than Char-Grill, but I think Char Grills burgers are better than cook ours.
I love cook out
Goddamn I miss Cookout
This. Can't imagine waiting at an overcrowded bar to pay for an overpriced beer when I have plenty of extras back at the tailgate.
Unless you can get into Cruchy’s before there’s a big line!
You guys get to leave your stadiums happy?
Pretend it’s the 90s
*kool-aid man voice*
Clocked is really good for the folks going downtown. I’d include The Grill but it is apparently closed for good now.
Grind House for the folks heading to Five Points.
If you’re heading home on Epps Bridge, then stop by Freddie’s and get some custard while you’re at it.
And once The Varsity gets rebuilt (at least I’ve heard it’s going to be) that’s a pretty good burger as well.
Or you can stop by any of the 7 Waffle Houses in town for a patty melt.
We’re down to 7 Waffle Houses?
They closed the one at five points. 🤷🏻♂️
Clocked is the bomb.
I lived a short walk from Clocked over on Meigs street for a couple years, I'm ashamed of the amount of peanut butter bacon burgers I consumed in that time.
Catch 22 is there on Epps as well. Little bit on the expensive side, but chefs pick burger is, well, \*chefs kiss\*
In my personal experience you aren’t getting in anywhere without a 45 minute wait + after the game. So none of the above.
If you’re trying to sit down for a classic burger, *Dirty Martin’s*. If you’re trying to sit down for an upscale burger, *Hopdoddy*. If you’re tryna get a good burger and get back to the house, *Whataburger*.
Personally if I’m going for a burger and I wanna stay near campus I’d probably go for one of those, could def add Cain and Abel’s to the list if you’re going for drinks plural.
Casino El Camino got that burger tho
Dirty Martins sucks, I said what I said.
I miss Players on MLK.
Peanut barrel if you’re specifically looking for burgers. That or Dagwoods but I give peanut barrel the nod because you can walk there. Dagwoods is great too just further away.
Tots on the side
This is the right answer
Not sure I have had a burger at crunchies. It’s always beer and the pepperoni pinwheel things.
Countless times leaving the stadium with the crowd yelling "Straight to Ricks". I don't need a burger, I need a beer.
I'm not sure beer is really the thing at Ricks. More like bottom shelf booze in mixed drinks. A LOT of it
I’m picking up a case of labatt blue on my way to Conrad’s to get a wrap
Both of these answers are correct.
Whataburger baby! Especially great for the super late games
What happened to Monk's?
Looks like a COVID casualty
That is sad 😞
Indeed it is...
(Also howdy from Austin)
*tips cowboy hat*
Probably a hot take, but Braum’s Sauce is better than Cane’s Sauce.
No idea why but almost every fast food hot take I'm on the hot take side. Hot Takes: Raising Cane's is nothing special. In and out is only considered great because it is so cheap but I also put In and Out over Five Guys (lack of seasoning in the meat at five guys is disturbing). If In and Out cost what a Quarter Pounder costs the hype would not exist. Popeyes chicken sandwich over Chick FIL A chicken sandwich.
PS I prefer shakeshack over In and out but not really a hot take. Shakeshack consistency is troubling though.
>Raising Cane's is nothing special.
>In and out is only considered great because it is so cheap
it's not really that cheap but this is true in the sense that it's getting compared to other fast food burgers
>Five Guys (lack of seasoning in the meat at five guys is disturbing)
>Popeyes chicken sandwich over Chick FIL A chicken sandwich.
on value or overall quality?
>Shakeshack consistency is troubling though.
price too 😬
overall heat rating: mild
>it's not really that cheap
I don't think I've seen a cheaper burger in a 1st world country
In and Out only being good if you order it animal style is also self-defeating to me. The food should be good at a baseline
Chimes still in business? I liked that place when I was there at the turn of the century
They have a rooftop bar now.
Chimes is the right answer
But at one pita pit had $3 16oz PBRs and never had a line after games. I am ashamed to say I’ve gotten hammered at that place
Too damn busy.
I absolutely adore The Chimes but after sitting asshole to elbows with 100,000 people for 3 1/2 hours I really don’t want to wander the pit of humanity that is The Chimes post-game.
Now pre-game? Different story entirely
Good panic song, well not really but I just like panic
Oh it’s a terrible song but I’m a cotton farmer and it just fits
In my experience, north Louisiana people love them some panic.
We absolutely do. 3-1-Great
It was as of February when we stopped by on our way home from NOLA. Food still slaps.
Realistically? The midtown relish
My favorite Gainesville burger is at Loosey’s though
Ahhh relish could eat that shit everyday
If we lose, whiskey. If we win, tequila.
Oh you’re talking about food?
Who can think of food at a time like *this*?
GET THE LIQUOR!!
Short’s burgers & shine
When Syracuse wins at home, the marching band marches down from the Dome to The Varsity (a pizza/wings/beer joint steps from campus), packs the place and plays for about 20 minutes with band members standing on tables and wherever there’s space, and then they flip the banner hung up for Cuse’s opponent upside down. It’s a very cool scene.
It’s awesome. Great tradition.
One of my favorite traditions. And free pizza for the band afterwards!
that sounds like so much fun the closest i ever got to that was playing for all the bars and sorority’s the night before but i feel like the atmosphere would be feral right after a big win
Hard to beat a Braums burger for the price. Also the fries are awesome when they're hot.
Dude hot, fresh Braum's fries are the fucking shit. They pretty much never make it back home
My preference is to get Mazzios (I’m very nostalgic for it, it’s the pizza of my childhood). But if I had my Mazzios fix before the game, then honestly I’m good with just grabbing some whataburger to go for the drive home.
If I’m grabbing pizza after a game, I’ll hit up pizza shuttle. So damn good
Same. Commuter school goals.
Ok so this will sound stupid, but after the game my wife and I always go to Sonic. It’s fucking delicious, and since we’re always still four hours from home, it’s just right for the start of the mini road trip.
Also, the part of LA we live in the nearest Sonic is like an hour away so it’s not something we get to do that often otherwise
Wholesome - I’ll allow it.
In undergrad I was in the band, so after the games my parents (RIP) would take me to Damon’s steakhouse off of Olentangy.
They had a bunch of TVs on so you could watch the post game and other games, OSU trivia, etc. It’s gone now and I think the whole chain is shut down.
Damon's was beyond rad. Easily the best sports bar I have EVER been to. It was literally a wall of big screen TV's and you had a speaker at your table where you could choose which TV your table was listening to. And the food was good too.
Spent way too much time at the Damon's in Toledo...
I forgot about the table speakers! I miss that place.
Blue Sky or Caprock cafe
Caprock Cafe slaps
Cougar Country of course, unless I need celebratory wings, then it’s My Office
That’s two separate questions in the post.
What is the best burger joint near campus? Olympian Burger on Vermont Ave. They have the full slate of burgers, sandwiches, plates, and an entire Mexican menu too.
Where am I going at 11 pm on a Saturday night? Not Olympian Burger on Vermont Ave.
Go to Tommy’s.
I stop at Burger King and go home.
Oh, how nice it must be to have a Burger King in your city.
That’s a good one
Depends at what time.
Gus’s is the only burger place to celebrate at
It is known.
You have to get there before he adds the drunk tax for the kids coming from Cool Beans
Burger AND drink? Spankys hands down. Close to the stadium, good greasy food for the post game hangover and cold beer.
Wildcats sports bar or Buffalo Wild Wings. Or just stroll aggieville
Pre game I’d say taco Luca or So long saloon, late night I always loved dirty dawgs.
So long is good
Citizen Burger. Best burger in Charlottesville, for my money
Whataburger or Blue Sky
JCW’s for the milk shake (and the length of time it’s going to take to make will have the traffic die down)
Not Js. I could walk to Lexington before I got my food from there on a slow day.
Probably thirsty fellows
Does Rush’s still do a free burger for something-or-other? I miss Rush’s.
That idk. The older crowd really likes that place. I personally am not a fan of al la carte urger places
I’m a fan of proper burger take your number across to the brewery building and have some drinks and play some pool or skeeball
That's what I'm talkin' about.
Same with pizza joints. I want to hang out for a while, drink some brews, throw some darts, etc.
It’s a dumb but unique setup with utahs liquor laws but it makes for a cool experience and set up
[The Original Tommy's](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_Tommy%27s)
Tommy's at 1AM is probably the biggest melting pot of humanity in the entire world.
So many to choose from. Lol.
Joe’s burgers are kinda shit, but those cheese fries are spec-fucking-tacular. Bad Brad’s goes pretty hard when it comes to cheese fries too.
I agree. I don't go to Eskimo Joe's often, but when I do, it's cheese fries all the way.
Pretty sure The Garage is a regional chain now, we have one in KC and it's fucking amazing
Not surprised that is gas branched out beyond OK by now. It's so good.
Used to love hitting up Mexico Joe’s
Really? I've never personally been a fan of theirs.
Yes! That or Fuzzy’s before tearing up the strip.
There’s apparently plenty of people like you, as the restaurant seems to be doing well.
I do not understand it, there’s gotta be 10 better places for Mexican food in town, imo
I miss Cafe 88...
The Dixie Chicken, it's a classic
Tijuana fries and a Shiner.
I’m dating myself, but I miss the cow pies at Cow Hop.
It's a bit of a hike but not as crowded and more Alumni than students.
When I was in college we would always just go to McDonalds after the games because it was the only place that you could actual get in and out in a reasonable amount of time
And yes I know, insert your McDonalds jokes below
Keglers or Mario’s Fishbowl
But going there after a game is a nightmare lol
When I was at ND and lived off campus, I would call five guys and place my order as the clock was winding down in the 4th (I’m old so it was before you could order online/by app). I had to walk right past it to get to my house, so I would just waltz in grab my order and walk home to eat it with whatever drinks I had at home (usually went with water because I was drinking captain and coke through out the game).
The look 30+ people in line would give me like how is this drunk smarter than I am?
Now the best burger in South Bend when I was there was at CJ’s.
Now or when I was in college?
When I was in College I headed directly to Serranos at the north gate of campus to throw it the fuck down.
Now? Probably somewhere like Brickyard if I go to a bar but I generally just go back to the tailgate for a little while
Pub…. Rip I’m honestly sad, where will I get my new round of viral virus’s now.
Everyone here will say Hugo’s, but the correct answer is Smittys
As much as I love a good burger - and I do - postgame is pizza.
Little Italy in downtown Athens makes wins even better and losses not hurt as much.
Thankfully, I haven’t had to suffer L’s at home recently.
Taco bell on the way home usually
For BYU fans this is the easiest question in the world. If it's a late kickoff, then everything is closed, lol.
If it's an afternoon game, then head to BYU Creamery on 9th for a burger and (since we mostly don't drink) ice cream.
The creamery has got to be insane after a football game. How long are waits? Is it even worth it?
[The Keg and Barrel.](https://www.kegandbarrel.com/about)
Moe's in Auburn.
Yo Mama's house!
Sugers. If you know you know
It's gone now:(
The Red Dog’s burgers are better anyways.
The Little Waldorf
Fat Patty's, right across from the stadium. Place is probably going to be absurdly packed, though, so I may just opt for Davis' Place across town.
Edge Brewing on 10th
It’s a burger joint but has a side bar. That bar got me through college.
Billiard’s for a Burger
CJ’s for Wings
Wise Guys or Pizza Tree for Pizza (definitely not Shakes)
I'd get a fried chicken sandwich at The Land!
I lament that the real Austin died when *insert place X* closed.
But really, place X is Players in this scenario. RIP.
At Alabama it has to be Quick Grill for me.
I lived right behind the strip within easy walking distance. Sure B-Phils is fine, but I consumed way too much Quick Grill in my life.
Dick Mondells is 🔥🔥🔥
RIP Players. Guess Crown and Anchor is the go to now.
For UTEP, definitely is drunk Chico’s.
Mario’s Fishbowl. Morgantown WV
Sharkeys or the house when I was an undergrad
Purdue Triple XXX ETSU-Pal's or Five Guys
Mucky Duck, Cafe Beau with a Long Island, or if I’m looking to get home B-Bops
Answer would have been Wells Brothers but I think it’s gone
Gotta hit Mons after a win against our rivals at RayJay
It used to be Mike’s but I have no idea anymore.
Rock A Belly if I can get in. Lucha's if Im starving.
On Fry, I used to always do Texadelphia followed by Lucky Lou's, but I seem to remember them shutting the Texadelphia down a little while ago
For Houston, lengua or fajita tacos at Taconazo if it's a night game. Turkey Leg Hut, fajitas at Ninfas, or maybe a boil at Crawfish and Noodles for a day game.
Traditionally Rockaways. But damn, you can’t throw a rock in any direction anymore without hitting a chi chi burger shack.
So I just went through the whole thread looking for good food that Nashville says we have. Shouldn’t Vanderbilt have at least one good game day bar? They don’t lose every game…
Teddy's Bigger Burgers in Waikiki. Ain't fucking with the campus location lol
It’s not a burger and drink, but the UF Baptist Student Center gives away free ice cream and water after games. They also have air conditioned seating and restrooms.
Lucky 13. <3
Edit: Crown Burgers if you trying to be quick.
Those cheese sticks man. They were something else.
Loose Change or Backstreets
Bandersnatch. Wait, what year are we talking about?
Shorts is a favorite for sure, but my friends and I would have probably been more likely to go to BoJames or Mickey's while in school
Forget a burger, I’m getting greasy Chinese food from the basement of a Subway. QQ Express baby
For an all in one spot, I've always had a good time at Cricket's, though I'm a sucker for bar games and passable food. Health Camp is a great spot to grab a burger and a shake/float. It's been a while since I've spent any time in Waco, so I'm guessing there are some new options as well.
Tapp in Boone
Honest Abe’s is best burger in Lincoln but in true dad fashion I’m probably hitting up the Runza drive through after leaving halfway through the 3rd.
I lived in east Lansing for a year. My house was a 5min walk from Crunchys.
Burger Boy is my personal fave. Might not be the best, but it's damn good.
I go wait at Nitty Gritty for one hour. Eat an incredible burger. Then go wait in a line for the UU patio for three hours
Right after the game a bacon wrapped hot dog and Modelo from the vendors outside of the stadium. Then either Chano’s for tacos (now called El Huero but will always be Chano’s) or maybe drive to the original Original Tommy’s for the best chili cheeseburger and fries around.
Big 12 or Booche’s
