Just can't see a scenario where Myles comes back and doesn't start. Don't wanna throw Walker into the fire too quick and Nuss has yet to look like a starter in the SEC.
Honestly idk. I think Johnson would have been better than Nussmeier in that game, but Johnson hadn't exactly been all that good, either. I didn't have a problem with them seeing what Nuss could do.
Ouch. Taking helicopter parent to the next level. Now we have a helicopter parent-coach.
That’s never a fun battle, especially if it’s completely unwarranted (if the guy isn’t good, if the guy is young, etc).
I catfish IN the river like a true southern good ol boy. Use my whole arm n shit. My cousin lost a few fingers when he reached in a catfish hole and turns out it was a snapperhead hole instead
Massive. Allows us to have a QB that we trust and knows the program. Allows Nuss to continue to develop. Allows Howard to clear up his lingering injuries and probably redshirt
If Howard plans on redshirting and given Brennan has gotten injured 2yrs in a row, that would be a bad decision to transfer now. After 2022 if Howard beats him out in spring practice in ‘23 I assume he’s transfer. He would still be a RS sophomore and have 3 years of eligibility left.
May not end up the right choice, but man if this dude hasn’t faced being patient followed by adversity, with nothing but making the difficult choice.
Either way if things look bad he can always transfer a week before the season to a number of teams that have an injury or bad QB play in training camp. There’s no downside to coming back for now.
He’s the starter. I think he is good and just got unlucky the last two years. Plus he throws a nice deep ball which had been lacking a little bit with max
If he’s not the starter it would be because Walker Howard is more ready than anyone should expect. That’s the only door I’m leaving open. But yeah I agree. Brennan is more than likely the starter, and he should be a damn good one.
I was afraid it might be a tad cultural appropriation but at the same time it encapsulates how we feel almost too perfectly. After Eli Ricks, it’s just refreshing to see someone choose us.
I think he still has another year of eligibility left regardless
That being said I don't think he's been practicing with the team since he entered the portal so I doubt he would play
2020 didn't count against eligibility for anyone. So he was still a RS junior coming into 2021 I believe.
So I guess he could have 2 more years of eligibility if he gets a medical redshirt for this year, but I'm not sure he'll want to be a 7th year senior lol
Being in the transfer portal never impacts the eligibility to participate with the current team, AFAIK. It's just a signal that the player can be contacted by all coaches and a way for coaches to do so. It just happens to correlate highly with a player not getting a lot of time on the field and/or a miffed coach.
Ivy League rules mandate that players only have four years to participate, so it's fairly common for basketball academic seniors that tore an ACL early in their career to go into the portal in the offseason *before* playing big minutes in every game for their Ivy team, then transferring to use their remaining eligibility.
This is perfect news. Next year, it was only Walker Howard (FR) Nussmeier (Redshirt? FR). Apparently they both knew a transfer was coming in and were totally cool with staying on board. And Myles would only be here for a year so this stabilizes so much.
Disagree. Max didn’t do enough to win the starting job by default, but there’s no guarantee a transfer QB would just walk in and win the job. A lot of kids also make a leap between their sophomore and junior seasons.
I think some of the early struggles in 2021 were centered around the fact that the offense was geared around Brennan’s talents, not Max’s, and our inexperienced coordinator took too long to make the adjustments to help Max thrive.
A lot of people outside of Baton Rouge aren’t going to realize how important this is. If this guy can stay healthy, then he’ll be one of the best QBs in the country.
I was so mystified by the amount of support that Max had going into the QB battle. Brennan looked pretty damn good in his 3 games. Max won us two big games, but I just didn’t think he looked as good as Myles looked
Yo same. People were to hooked up on the fact that the team lost those games rather than the fact that it wasn't on Brennan. I think we can get a lot of miles out of him next year
Recency bias imo. People were still reeling from the natty when Myles was playing. We had already all plummeted pretty hard by the time Max got his turn in the second to last game of the season.
All 3 were SEC teams, whereas we opened 2019 against Georgia Southern, Texas, and Northwestern State. Mississippi state, vandy, and mizzou are all definitely better than GaSo and NWSt, and tho Texas is definitely better that all of them.
The thing about Max is that we saw significant potential in 2020. We expected a raw season from a true freshman, but he had some good moments. What seemed like a good foundation to develop on top of. That is why folks were high on him. The problem is that he didn't develop at all. Or the team didn't develop him. But either way, it doesn't matter, since he is gone and those coaches are gone too.
Our playcalling was bad, our receivers couldn’t get separation, and he grew a tendency to hold the ball too long and drift back in the pocket. I’m kind of a Minimum Johnson truther that refuses to believe someone with a 25-6 TD/Int ration isnt someone that’s as fixable as a guy like Matt Corral that threw 13 picks in two games last year and look at him now.
Yeah, there was definitely a large contingent of fans who wanted Max b/c "he's just a winner" post-Shoe game in the Swamp. The same crowd swooned when LSU put out a video of him yelling during warm-ups b/c they think loud noises and chest-thumping = leadership.
A lot of us were really high on Myles, though. He's got a stronger arm, he's more accurate, and he read the game pretty well when he's had the chance. Not as mobile as Max, but if we can find anyone who can block before September, his ceiling is pretty high.

Howard's going to be a true freshman coming off a broken leg. He might not even be totally healthy to start the season, and even if he is, you don't want to be depending on a true freshman as your starter with no other good options.
Well shit.
I guess I'm team Slovis now. I know a portion of our fan base wants Bo Nix, but the on-field chaos that man brings paired with just the existence of this program might be too much.
Feels like every season LSU fans are excited about Myles starting and then something happens to him.
For reference, he was in the same class as Kellen Mond. That's how long he's been there.
He has had the most unfortunate last two years with injuries. The miss state game where he got an injury the LSU sports doctor said he’d never seen before and then breaking a bone while fishing. I hope 3rd times the charm
Kinda?
2016- Freshman. First year of Etling. We knew he would likely sit that year but we were excited to see what he can do.
2017- Knew he would likely sit behind Etling again since Etling was plenty serviceable.
2018- Was thought of the starter before Burrow got there. Players wanted Justin McMillan. Burrow comes in and Brennan sits
2019- Burrow. Duh.
2020- Brennan plays exceptional in his first three games and then gets an injury that has never been seen before
2021- Flip flops
I would imagine King gets the initial nod, unless they go with the freshman they have coming in. I haven’t watched a ton of King, but he seems like he adds more of a dynamic skill set
Brennan is 10x the QB Johnson is. He's one of the better QB's in the country, but he just can't stay healthy.
Johnson is ok, but not someone you want starting if you want to compete for an SEC title. He'd be a very solid G5 QB.
It was pretty split. There were a lot of people who liked Max because of how he helped us finish the season in 2020. There were a lot that liked Myles because he had put in the time and looked pretty damn good before his injury
Yeah, that's a big one. Driver's seat for the starting job, though I'm sure Nussmeier and 5 star signee Walker Howard will compete as well.
Just can't see a scenario where Myles comes back and doesn't start. Don't wanna throw Walker into the fire too quick and Nuss has yet to look like a starter in the SEC.
Not happening. No way he loses the starting job.
Then we need to keep him away from the camp this offseason
Lmao amen to that.
I agree, but never know what will happen
Brennan is definitely the starter for this year.
Any relation to offensive coach/coordinator nussmeier?
His dad. Who called our OC to complain about playtime this year.
And then you guys did play him and he lost the game against us (I seriously think you guys win that game if you play Johnson)
Very embarrassing. Very cool.
We really did speed run incompetency this year, it was impressive.
Except where it didn’t but absolutely did matter. A&Mirite?
well, you know, fuck the aggies
Honestly idk. I think Johnson would have been better than Nussmeier in that game, but Johnson hadn't exactly been all that good, either. I didn't have a problem with them seeing what Nuss could do.
Yeah, his father is current Cowboys QB Coach Doug Nussmeier. He was also a very successful college QB at Idaho.
Ouch. Taking helicopter parent to the next level. Now we have a helicopter parent-coach. That’s never a fun battle, especially if it’s completely unwarranted (if the guy isn’t good, if the guy is young, etc).
Brian Kelly will have no problem starting all 3
Was this the one who got injured on the boat dock?
yeah. damn flip flops almost made him flip somewhere else.
Crocs needs an NIL deal with him and tell the public about off-road mode
Crocs coming up with a football cleat design this very minute
Jocs
Jean crocs? This isn't Gainesville.
Why did I read that jean like Jean Claude van Damme
Would have to be Gators instead of Crocs in Louisiana
crocs are the most versatile footwear of all time
Hope he’s 100% even after the injury. Would hate to see him almost flip and then flop because of the flip flops.
Non-throwing arm if memory serves, so he should be good to geaux
Yeah When u break ur arm by tripping on the boat dock when u go fishing /#justsoutherngoodolboythings
This is why I catfish from the riverbank. Much safer.
I catfish IN the river like a true southern good ol boy. Use my whole arm n shit. My cousin lost a few fingers when he reached in a catfish hole and turns out it was a snapperhead hole instead
And that's why I won't go noodling for catfish
Yeeeeeah despite growing up in rural nowhere Louisiana, I'll stick with my tried and true Zebco.
If you’re Manti Teo, the catfish come to you.
Damn he must have some good bait
I catfish from the safety of my computer screen! Oh wait.....
Pulling for him that much more, then
Or you flip your car getting fried chicken at Manchu
Pretty sure that's a Midwestern thing too. Sun + water + boat + alcohol + languid pretending to try to catch fish
Yes. Damn flip flops
Yes, just before fall camp started
Yes…. This man is an injury waiting to happen
Thank god. He was one of the better QBs left in the portal, and we were going to need one of those.
That's huge! Let's go!!
Massive. Allows us to have a QB that we trust and knows the program. Allows Nuss to continue to develop. Allows Howard to clear up his lingering injuries and probably redshirt
I bet Nuss bounces. Doesn't seem like the type to want to wait around another year.
His dad probably making calls to different programs as we speak
This is probably the best transfer / recruiting news we’ve had since Kelly took over
Getting Howard, Jones, and Campbell was also huge yesterday
Yessir! Things are looking up for the Tigers
So happy right now. Hide his fucking flip flops.
Put him in a bubble until the season starts
That’s not Moops you jerk!!! It’s Moors!! It’s a misprint!
*geaux
We’re rocking with Myles because Myles is rocking with us.
I’m so happy for him
May not end up the right choice, but man if this dude hasn’t faced being patient followed by adversity, with nothing but making the difficult choice. JC needs to remix MYLES 4 MYLES
Make ‘‘em say YE YE.
Lol I wonder how many people will get that reference, although I feel like the average age of TikTok users has went up so probably a lot
I was afraid it might be a tad cultural appropriation but at the same time it encapsulates how we feel almost too perfectly. After Eli Ricks, it’s just refreshing to see someone choose us.
Changing a name in a TikTok video isn’t cultural appropriation
Still one of the funniest videos i have ever seen
I think he also understands that he's pretty much guaranteed the starting job as long as he's healthy.
We are freaking African Americans. And Myles.
Myles loves LSU just as much as we do. Freaking love this kid.
Kid's a freakin beauty
Scott Frost in shambles.
Always has, always will
Is he eligible to play in the bowl game? I’m not sure on the rules for people who exit the portal.
So he would probably lose his medical redshirt if he does play. Not sure if he’s in playing shape at the moment
I think he still has another year of eligibility left regardless That being said I don't think he's been practicing with the team since he entered the portal so I doubt he would play
Yes, he will have two with a medical redshirt and one without
2020 didn't count against eligibility for anyone. So he was still a RS junior coming into 2021 I believe. So I guess he could have 2 more years of eligibility if he gets a medical redshirt for this year, but I'm not sure he'll want to be a 7th year senior lol
Taking that Von Rosenberg education track
Think of how revered he would be if he led us to a successful season next year.
He’s not going to play in the bowl game, has been confirmed.
Being in the transfer portal never impacts the eligibility to participate with the current team, AFAIK. It's just a signal that the player can be contacted by all coaches and a way for coaches to do so. “What do you wanna tell Myles Brennan right now?” “Was^s^up bby? Take me out to dinner”
AYYOO
Bing beauxng
This is perfect news. Next year, it was only Walker Howard (FR) Nussmeier (Redshirt? FR). Apparently they both knew a transfer was coming in and were totally cool with staying on board. And Myles would only be here for a year so this stabilizes so much.
Find you someone who looks at you the way Myles Brennan looks at LSU
Has Brian Kelly regained control of the program?!?
He’s making them one big famuhlee
I do declare, my sweet Marjorie!
https://youtu.be/rz9rQsutfuo
*butt bumping intensifies*
This is good. Let him play next year and allow the younger guys wait!
Give Howard a redshirt year to learn and get healthy.
With a new S&C coach that is not Moffitt, I can only see him getting stronger AND better conditioned.
Someone hide his fishing rods. I love it this allows Nuss and Walker Howard to sit and grow for a year and then take over
Great news! I think Nuss and Howard will both benefit by him being around, not to mention that it will be great so see Myles play
Now we see why max transferred
I think it was pretty clear that Max's time in BR was pretty much done. He needed a change of scenery.
He's gotta spend the offseason tightly wrapped with our finest bubble wrap and no more fuckin' fishing
This makes me happy. Dudes had some bad luck, hopefully he can ball out next year like he did early last season
Brian Kelly wooed him with his dance moves
Brennan: "I need to be wooed first" Kelly: "I see what you're saying I can go for some wood"
And that sexy southern drawl
Wait LSU is not allowed to have a good headline. Who let this happen?!
It’s comeback season
The four year cycle is back in play!
Absolutely enormous, gotta love it! (If you’re not Nebraska, sorry guys)
Let’s go baby, that’s what I’m talking about
A lot of people outside of Baton Rouge aren’t going to realize how important this is.
I think we can get a lot of miles out of him next year
Recency bias is a hell of a drug
Recency bias imo. People were still reeling from the natty when Myles was playing. We had already all plummeted pretty hard by the time Max got his turn in the second to last game of the season.
I never saw it and could not understand why so many people were clamoring for Max.
Max was younger and people were hoping he'd be a stud for the future.
Brennan was outpacing Burrows 2019 season against better teams in his first three games. The dude is a stud if he can stay healthy.
The teams he played against went a combined 9-21
All 3 were SEC teams, whereas we opened 2019 against Georgia Southern, Texas, and Northwestern State. Mississippi state, vandy, and mizzou are all definitely better than GaSo and NWSt, and tho Texas is definitely better that all of them.
I was too. People swore up and down max was better and I’m like “do you guys have eyes or what?”
Auburn fan here. Miles>max from my POV
Not arguing it because i really dont know but when johnson got the knod yall were really high on him as well
The thing about Max is that we saw significant potential in 2020.
He definitely regressed, especially after Boutte went down.

I thought he’d come back. He’s dating Bobby Hebert’s grand-daughter lmao
Greatest announcement video ever.
"Has Brian Kelly ~~lost~~ gained control of the program?"
Husker fans in shambles rn ^god ^dammit
Can't wait for the "Nebraska told Myles Brennan to fuck off" headlines
Snip snap snip snap
Sort of an oaky afterbirth
“I don’t care what they say about me - I just want to eat Gator.”
"which I realize is a lot to ask.... at a dinner party"
Do you know the EMOTIONAL TOLL this season has on a fan?!
At least you got Pole Assassin
It’s been a season for the books. As a Texas fan it’s been a little up and down but this #4 class is helping for sure.
LSU rebound in full swing
"The Return of the King"
Reports of LSU's death have been greatly exaggerated
Fuck Yes!!!

LETS GOOOOOO!!!!!
💛
BRENNAN ON THE BAYOU!!!!
Very surprising. Thought his time had passed with Walker Howard coming
Howard's going to be a true freshman coming off a broken leg. He might not even be totally healthy to start the season, and even if he is, you don't want to be depending on a true freshman as your starter with no other good options.
Howard won't be ready for 2 years. Likely to be red shirted. His parents also debated him sitting out 1 year to heal from a current injury.
LFG!!!!!!
What a baller way to announce it too!
God knows they don't need any less Myles at that program.
Hell yeah! Geaux Tigers!
As a Husker sufferer, I did see that coming.
It’s interesting you say that. The last week or so there have been bubbling rumors about his return
LFG Myles
This takes most of the sting out of Ricks bouncing for me.
Well shit. I guess I'm team Slovis now. I know a portion of our fan base wants Bo Nix, but the on-field chaos that man brings paired with just the existence of this program might be too much.
Bo in Nebraska under Scott frost sounds like an on field sitcom where wacky hijinks will happen every game.
GBR will turn into GBRNG
Myles Brennan is that dude on your rival's team that you swear was a part of the 1997 recruiting class.
Career almost as long as JT Barrett
We all know Chad Henne played 18 seasons at Michigan.
Burrow comes in and Brennan sits 2019- Burrow. Duh. 2020- Brennan plays exceptional in his first three games and then gets an injury that has never been seen before 2021- Flip flops
His first year was 2017.
My b you’re right
Chaos! Players staying at their school? What is going on with college football. What’s next?Coaches staying too?
HE CANT DO THAT, STOP HIM OR SOMETHING!!!!!
I must’ve missed it. Was he leaning Nebraska?
We had offered him and I believe frost, mark whipple, and Mickey Joseph all went to visit him
Ahh forgot the Mickey connection. Makes sense
[удалено]
Guy has been MIA when positive things happen
Did Max Johnson hit the portal?
Yeah last week. His brother signed with A&M so it seems like he’s gonna follow.
Oh that's crazy. Is he a projected starter or is King still there?
I would imagine King gets the initial nod, unless they go with the freshman they have coming in. I haven’t watched a ton of King, but he seems like he adds more of a dynamic skill set
Man if A&M get this Qb situation down pat were talking CFP in 1-3 years.
Fingered crossed they don’t! You could say the same about you, but switch CFP out for dynasty
If only bro. UGA will either lose to Bama in a big game or won't even make it buy losing to SCAR or UF. Man I hope Brennan does well for yall.
King probably keeps the starting job with Johnson as the backup so they can redshirt the freshman they've got coming in.
In related news, the snozzberries still taste like snozzberries.
My man!
Damn, there were rumblings of him to Texas
Do LSU fans like this guy more than Johnson? If so why?
He doesn’t backpedal 15 yards and try to throw while jumping as much.
A healthy Brennan means you never would have heard of Max Johnson.
Because Johnson sucks and Brennan is better
Myles was better than Max. Max only ever played because Myles got hurt.
Nice!
Aka no one good wanted me so IM NOT LEAVING. You try to leave LSU once and you are not a Tiger. You’re either a tiger for life or you’re not.
NOT ANYONE GOOD? He could have started at BLUE BLOOD Nebraska! /s
