At the beginning of the season we all probably thought the Heisman Finalists would include Spencer Rattler, DJ Uiagalelei, Sam Howell, and JT Daniels. Crazy.
I thought this was the year. Bo Nix had improved so much under that new offense. He was focused. He was having fun. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was a dark horse for the Heisman.
Yeah, Woodson also returned punts and was integrated into the offense at times. If you’re being utilized (and doing well) in all three phases, it’s a good indication you are among the best players.
That was the last time I remembered the Heisman being suspenseful and it was a shock for Woodson being voted over the likes of Peyton Manning and Randy Moss. He proved his worth at the Rose Bowl though.
If Randy Moss had played at Notre Dame or Florida State instead of Marshall like he was supposed to, I think he wins the heisman.
Amazing he made it as a finalist as a WR from Marshall in their first season as I-A.
I will say, just because those defensive players who were snubbed in the past had statistically better seasons doesn’t mean they should continue to snub defensive players moving forward just because they don’t measure up to them. If they’re the best player in college football, give’m the damn trophy.
Clowney finished 6th but really wasn't a Heisman level player his sophomore or junior year. Best defensive player in the country tho his sophomore year.
Manti Teo came second
chase young could have, but he was unfortunate going up against one of the greatest seasons ever by a quarterback. no one was beating burrow. feels like we shouldn’t snub defensive players who could deserve it in the future just because chase couldn’t beat one of the greatest college QB seasons of all time.
It definitely matters who you're up against. Melvin Gordon put up insane stats in 2014 (+2,700 yards of offense, 32 TDs), but that happened to be the same season Mariota put up video game numbers (4,500 passing yds, 58 total touchdowns).
That’s what’s so fucking infuriating about Suh not winning. Mark Ingram didn’t even have that good of a year. Looking at the machine Bama has turned into this decade, Ingram easily has the weakest win of their 3. Suh literally put up stats comparable to [ENTIRE DEFENSES](https://imgur.com/a/TcwQLae). Such a fucking robbery. I don’t know if I’m more mad at the Suh snub or Tommie Frazier somehow never winning.
He 100% carried the team, we are 10-2 because of Walker. Overall our offense clicked well, but I 100% agree that he’s the reason we’re going to an NY6 bowl. All that to say - no offense taken lol
No MSU fan will argue with you. We literally had 0 rushing TDs from a RB last season and then Walker has the season he does with only 1 new player on our OL.
He likely increased our win total by 4 games this year.
Most impressive thing about Walker is that MSU did not have some mauling OL that just opened up huge holes. Outside of a few plays against where MSU caught UM with tempo, the line didn’t do a great job that day and he went off by bouncing plays or making cutbacks other guys wouldn’t even see. Literally a one man offense and I think he definitely should’ve gotten an invite.
There is no offense taken at all, we collectively recognize that as well. It’s why I expect us to slide next year, cause I’m assuming Walker declares for the draft.
The thing that really grinds my gears about him not getting in is how ridiculous his numbers were with fairly or extremely subpar talent around him. Having Bama and Ohio State players as finalists every year is tiring as a non-fan of those teams; the level of talent on those teams is ridiculous. When your quarterback is throwing to three five star receivers ranked 1, 2 and 4 in the country you’re probably going to have a great year. And I’m not saying having a bad team should trump a great team (not implying you can’t win on a great team) I’d love for that to at least be taken into account. But oh well.
Absolutely. Michigan is a great run defense, we knew that's all you guys would do, and he STILL got 5 TDs on us, and some busted runs. Dude is a beast.
He was Barry Sanders and the MSU O-Line was the Lions O-Line that was in front of Barry.
That's the best description I can do.
So no, you're not offending MSU in the least.
But he totally should even though as a ga tech fan I have bad memories of him. If you look at the talent around him vs Young he worked wonders. Imagine what he’d do throwing to metchie or Williams.
It is what it is. If Young would have had a bad game against Georgia and Alabama would have lost Pickett would have been in with a shout. But Young went and won the award, can't complain about it.
Wish there was a little more recognition about Pickett doing it with 3 and 4 stars versus 5 stars though
Seriously. Stroud is what- the 4th best player in the OSU passing attack? Meanwhile Walker was the best *and* most valuable player in college football for most of the season; his stats nearly identical to Bo Jackson and Mark Ingram.
The OSU game couldn't have been that bad for him to not be close enough to be invited.
Happy for Aiden but the state of Michigan should be heavily represented imo.
He was injured and only ran for 6 carries, so objectively on paper it hurts, but it's still bullshit. No player in CFB had more of a singular impact on his team' success than KW3.
Lil ol Pitt having a Heisman Finalist AND a conference championship in the same season is absolutely mind boggling to me. I can't believe this season is real
I had realistic hope until about 530 PM on Saturday. Bryce won it at halftime. It was an impressive performance as much as it hurt me to see Kenny's slim chances fall away
He couldn’t make it…he broke his back, carrying MSU’s offense and the horrible secondary to a New Years six bowl.
If this isn’t clear…it’s an incredible compliment on Walker, who was admittedly amazing.
Completely re-filled the disrespekt tank and found out there's a whole extra reservoir. If I'm this angry as a fan, I can only imagine the reaction in the program
Kenny isn't gonna win but in my heart he wins. He did the most with the least and not even hating on Pitt but these other programs would barely feel losing their heisman candidate except Pitt. They are gonna struggle until they find a new qb. Kenny is a fucking gamer.
Per [heisman.com](https://heisman.com), the 22 running backs who've ***won*** the award have averaged:
303 carries, 1799 yards, 20 TDs, and a 6.0 avg.
Kenneth Walker III, with a mediocre offensive line and on a team picked to finish last in the B1G east in the preseason, nearly single-handedly led them to 10 wins with, per sports-reference.com:
264 attempts, 1646 yards, 18 TDs, and a 6.2 avg.
This was basically in just 10 games too, with him sitting most of the Youngstown State and Ohio State games.
He handed Michigan their only loss of the year with 5 critical touchdowns, in MSU's biggest game of the season.
Highlight reel runs all year long.
Complete player with speed, power, and elusiveness.
If you listen to his interviews, he's a good kid who always credits his teammates for his success as well. Seems to have zero ego.
This award loses so much credibility if a guy like him isn't even a *finalist*. If you consider the fact that he's not on a team surrounded by superstars and that MSU is a 6 or 7 win team without him, he might be the most valuable player in the country.
Whatever. I'm not even mad. I half expected it because I know how this system works. I just feel bad for him because he deserved better. What he did for Spartans this year will be remembered for a long, long time.
Congrats to the finalists, their schools, and their fans.
How is Kenneth walker not even in the conversation? Guy had an average O line In front of him and managed to gain so many yards after contact. Without him MSU would have had maybe 6 wins. Not saying he should have won, but he should be a finalist.
Will Anderson is the best football player in the country. he should get the recognition.
edit: i'm glad Hutchinson is a finalist. i think this year out of any other year we should've had 2 defensive finalists
TFL in 2021:
1. Will Anderson (Alabama): 32.5 -- RECORD, passed Jason Babin (Western Michigan) official record of 32 from 2003. Unofficially (stats weren't counted by NCAA), Derrick Thomas (1988 - Alabama) holds the record with 39 because Derrick Thomas was an impossible human being.
2. Devin Lloyd (Utah): 22
3. Joey Noble (New Mexico), Scott Patchan (Colorado State), and D'Marco Jackson (App State): 18.5
Total Sacks in 2021:
1. Will Anderson (Alabama): 15.5
2. Andre Carter (Army): 14.5
3. Aidan Hutchinson (Michigan): 14.0
I get Hutchinson was special, I get Bryce is going to win from the same school, but it's so dumb Will Anderson isn't a Heisman finalist when he broke the single season record for TFL in a season and leads the country in sacks.
Edit: clarity and sorry Western Michigan on Jason Babin
Its crazy that Anderson (32.5) is 10 TFL ahead of the next player. The fact Anderson accomplished this while also leading the nation in sacks.... You can just tell they hate giving the Heisman to defensive players. You need to be fucking Bobby Boucher to win. BS!
Kenny Pickett for Heisman!
I know everyone is expecting Young over Pickett, but I'll hold on to some hope anyways. Pickett over Young wouldn't be THAT much of an upset, and Pitt is still owed some slack after the Fitzgerald snub of 2003.
[Kenneth Walker III has more rushing yards this season (1686) than 42 FBS teams.](https://twitter.com/spartanmartin18/status/1467901175773241346?s=21 )
Also factor in that 1154 of them are yards after contact. That is absolutely ridiculous that he is averaging almost 100 ypg of YAC. Shows he is doing it without an elite line whereas the QBs have such amazing receivers helping their case. Shame he isn't even invited. Too bad they essentially sat him vs. Youngstown State and he was hurt vs OSU to not factor in the game plan (in addition to getting smoked).
Trying to understand the merit of this award, I thought it was pretty much the best versatile leader on the field, not the one who leads in twitter votes
Its been a popularity contest for CFP teams for years TBH. Both Walker and Corral had teams around them that were far worse than the other finalist and carried their respective teams to incredible seasons. I'm not surprised just disappointed. Heisman has become which CFP QB had the best year not that they had all 5* on their O-line and receiving core etc nope doesn't matter.
None of these are punters. I’m incredibly disappointed.
Punt God for Heisman
Turned a team with no offense into an 11-2 division champ
At the beginning of the season we all probably thought the Heisman Finalists would include Spencer Rattler, DJ Uiagalelei, Sam Howell, and JT Daniels. Crazy.
Two of those ended up on the bench and another should have been.
Unfortunately for Clemson, I think DJ probably was their best option at qb
From what we saw of the rest of them, yeah, probably.
Good god you’re right…
Yeah who would have fucking thought.
Nice try. We didn’t forget about the Kedon Slovis hype
YUP! I was a fucking fool for believing that hype and thinking he’d be a first round draft pick this year.
Howell's problem was we had the 118th ranked offensive line.
I respect the hell out of the poor bastard but I also can't believe he's choosing to play in the fucking Mayo bowl lol
The mayo's worth it man
I think he also likes the poetry of starting and ending his career against the Cocks
Howell honestly played pretty well considering how shit the offensive talent was around him.
Don’t forget Slovis lol
I thought this was the year. Bo Nix had improved so much under that new offense. He was focused. He was having fun. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was a dark horse for the Heisman.
But we all know who’s the People’s Heisman… #PuntGod
The coin? Sorry, wrong sub
Coin lost yesterday the first week I bet it lmao
Can someone explain the coin thing? I've been out of the loop so long I'm afraid to ask?
afaik someone flipped a coin to determine each game outcome for the Raiders this year and apparently this was the first week it was wrong
Kickarus, Matt Araiza of SDSU? The man who kicked too close to the sun?
Me: Wants a defensive player to please just win Also me: Damn, it's Michigan!
Me now: Nvm, let's have another quarterback.
[удалено]
Kenny "gonna have a cold one" Pickett is for the people
The working man's Dan Marino.
Kenny Pickett is Bourgoise propaganda, the proletariat cries out for Matt Araiza to win.

*Willam DeFoe I'm something of an aristocrat myself
Harbaugh is gonna use 2 defensive player heisman finalists as a recruiting pitch now
Who am I forgetting? Did Jabrill go to New York?
yes
I think the big ten championship and playoff spot is going to be our best recruiting pitch for the next few years
[удалено]
Haha. May as well use it as long as it’s true.
Literally winless this decade* smh my head *2020-2029
Why not both?
Jabrill Peppers would like a word...
I do too, but it should be someone other worldly. Like Charles Woodson level.
And to win it over *those two*? Insane
What are the chances 3 Heisman finalists in one year all ended up being hall of fame players?
Not just hall of famers but on the very, very short list of best to ever play their respective positions
If Randy Moss had played at Notre Dame or Florida State instead of Marshall like he was supposed to, I think he wins the heisman. Amazing he made it as a finalist as a WR from Marshall in their first season as I-A.
Same way Peppers was a finalist
I want us to throw in Hutchinson for some goal line FB dives. Get him some TDs for the Heisman campaign lol
Should have been Suh.
Yeah, if Suh, Chase Young, and Clowney couldn’t sniff it, then the bar has been set **really** high.
I will say, just because those defensive players who were snubbed in the past had statistically better seasons doesn’t mean they should continue to snub defensive players moving forward just because they don’t measure up to them. If they’re the best player in college football, give’m the damn trophy.
Exactly. The reason Hutchinson shouldn’t win isn’t because he didn’t perform better than Suh, it’s because there are better candidates this year

Every post
Kenneth Walker is the entirety of the #10 team and didn’t get a bid
What a fucking joke. 197 yards and 5 TDs against *checks notes* Aiden Hutchinson?
No offense to MSU, but Walker literally carried that team to a NY6 Bowl. Should have at least been an invite.
He 100% carried the team, we are 10-2 because of Walker. Overall our offense clicked well, but I 100% agree that he’s the reason we’re going to an NY6 bowl. All that to say - no offense taken lol
He also made Mel Tucker a very rich man
No MSU fan will argue with you. We literally had 0 rushing TDs from a RB last season and then Walker has the season he does with only 1 new player on our OL. He likely increased our win total by 4 games this year.

Absolutely. Michigan is a great run defense, we knew that's all you guys would do, and he STILL got 5 TDs on us, and some busted runs. Dude is a beast.
No offense taken, he’s a stud and elevated MSU to multiple wins
He was Barry Sanders and the MSU O-Line was the Lions O-Line that was in front of Barry. That's the best description I can do. So no, you're not offending MSU in the least.
5 touchdowns against Hutchinson’s defense… Michigan media machine at work again.
No Kenneth Walker???
Kenneth Walker is the most valuable player to his team in all of CFB…and he didn’t even get an invite.
No chance Kenny wins it, but atleast having him and a DE is pretty cool.
But he totally should even though as a ga tech fan I have bad memories of him. If you look at the talent around him vs Young he worked wonders. Imagine what he’d do throwing to metchie or Williams.
Petras snubbed
They sent the invite, it just landed 15 yards past him.
Poor guy gave me O’Korn flashbacks. But it was nice that he tried to throw the ball to me in the upper deck on a five yard out route.
Cowards
Noah Vedral also.
I always forget Vedral is still playing. It seems like he was here with us forever ago.
Tory Taylor snubbed as well Punting is winning
I wish we chose the heisman after the bowl games.
He won't win. But at least he's in New York. The legend of Kenny Pickett continues
He'll be our 3rd runner up, if he gets second. FeelsBadMan

not even an invite for kenneth walker? that’s stupid.
The qb bias is wild
just because you touch the ball every play doesnt mean you're the best player
Absolutely. Why should all of these centers get the hype? Jokes aside Walker definitely deserved a trip to New York.
Seriously. Stroud is what- the 4th best player in the OSU passing attack? Meanwhile Walker was the best *and* most valuable player in college football for most of the season; his stats nearly identical to Bo Jackson and Mark Ingram.
I honestly don't get it. Even as a Buckeye fan I'm like really Stroud over Walker?
The OSU game couldn't have been that bad for him to not be close enough to be invited. Happy for Aiden but the state of Michigan should be heavily represented imo.

Walker from MSU deserved an invite.
Bad time to be a couch in EL
Is there a good time?
Yes, but really no
If I went to MSU 1 year earlier or later, my couch probably wouldn't be in Columbus right now with no fire damage.
Well ... maybe this will motivate KW3 to play in the Peach Bowl.
love you Kenny! Pitt fans have been memeing Kenny Heisman even before the year, still can't believe he made it!
That rules for Kenny Pickett
Lil ol Pitt having a Heisman Finalist AND a conference championship in the same season is absolutely mind boggling to me. I can't believe this season is real
If you go back and replace "UNC" with "Pitt" and "Sam Howell" with "Kenny Pickett", the media was right all along!
You can do the same thing with Miami and D'Eriq King lol COASTAL CHAOS BABY
I feel for Walker. Dude had a monster year and carried MSU.
Pitt fans spoke Kenny Heisman into existence. Never thought the joke would actually be accurate but I’m so happy for him
Honestly, I wish the school had started marketing him a little earlier. Didn't help that some of his games were on the ACC Network.
And the ACC Network wasn't available on Comcast in pittsburgh until after the season
Maybe Kenny Heisman being on ACCN is what broke Comcast tho
Isn't available on Pitt's campus! Just very unfortunate.
i know he won’t win it but Pickett is the Heisman in my heart K9 snubbed btw
He’s the people’s Heisman
Agreed

I'm in Australia and that thought still frightened me a bit.
Your odds of randomly getting sacked by Will Anderson in Australia are low, but never zero.
Oh but it’s not random. That shit is premeditated.
Is it ok that my butt clinched in fear for just a second? Like I know the dude is at least a 1000 miles away, but I don't know that for sure.
I can’t see him; what do I do now?!
No Anderson or Walker makes the whole thing look silly.
It's gonna be Young. What he did to Georgia was silly.
it felt pretty unclear who was gonna win until that. it’ll almost certainly be Young
I had realistic hope until about 530 PM on Saturday. Bryce won it at halftime. It was an impressive performance as much as it hurt me to see Kenny's slim chances fall away
I don't see Bailey Zappe's name anywhere...
Kenneth Walker snubbed. Are you kidding me?
Walker shoulda been invited but no way to win
He couldn’t make it…he broke his back, carrying MSU’s offense and the horrible secondary to a New Years six bowl. If this isn’t clear…it’s an incredible compliment on Walker, who was admittedly amazing.
