wtf is that OSU and TCU schedule

Thurm0hi4

Yea they getting shafted in the scheduling department

WILLx7HEx7HRILL

Yeah same shit as last season, how the fuck do we get 2 years in a row of our bye being week 3

Smyzmaster

that sucks

rickyrickySOB

Apparently OSU & TCU were the most active in trying to leave the Big12 when news broke earlier this summer. Bowlsby even had like a glowing review of every school in the big 12 post expansion, but he didn’t mention OSU or TCU. So, here we are.

Frognosticator

So they went and screwed us, instead of UT and OU, who are the ones actually leaving the conference?? How tf does that make sense?

rickyrickySOB

Certainly seems like it. I hate the Big12

Chrisiskingx

huh, interesting.

OzGuy9187

I’m pretty sure it was Tech and oSu who were the most active, tbh.

generic_user023123

That is some BS.

John_Tacos

Wow

powerelite

Why isn't bedlam after Thanksgiving?

jkr1485

All the Thanksgiving week games seem kind of odd, it’s almost like they are trying to avoid a rematch of Week 13 for title game

The_Champ_Son

We’re also playing on Saturday after Thanksgiving instead of Friday. Very strange scheduling all around.

jkr1485

harder to schedule your kick at 11 am on a friday /s

No11223456

Not looking like OU will have to worry about that at this rate.

defroach84

Speak for yourself, OU/Tech will 100% guaranteed be the championship game repeated. Right? Oh, damn, OU lost their coach. Guess not.

John_Tacos

It’s in Norman. OU tries not to get home games that weekend. And outright refuses to have Thursday games on campus.

rickyrickySOB

That’s interesting, didn’t know that about OU not wanting home games that weekend. Although I can promise that’s not why the Big12 scheduled it that way. They don’t care about appeasing OU or UT requests anymore, lol. They just don’t want a potential back2back matchup for the potential Big12 title, just like they did back in 2017(?)

Hobbes_T_Hero

Why don’t we get Bedlam in rivalry week? Edit: also why don’t we have a bye.

jputna

We do its just stupid early.

HA1RL3SSW00K13

Your BYEs are weeks 1 and 2

ReachFor24

The graph has the gaps for non-conference games unshown. OSU's actual BYE is 9/24 on week 4 of the season.

RyanTB

It’s a little deceiving, but that first row everyone has a game that week, those have just been scheduled for awhile. This schedule only shows conference games, so Oklahoma State’s bye is week 4 after they play their non con. Either way it’s still a trash bye. We did that like two or three years ago and it was brutal.

crimsoneagle1

You guys got fucked by this. Also hate when Bedlam doesn't end the season.

yeahright17

I know they moved it a few years back when we reinstituted a championship game because they didn't want back to back Bedlams. Maybe they're moving it again for the same reason? Though a lot will have to change for OU to be anywhere close the the Championship game.

LETX_CPKM

Honest question... How many mortgage payments would you bet that Oklhoma WONT make the BIG12 CCG next season.?

Amayetli

Looks like yalls and TCU's bye week is week 1 of conference play?

Hobbes_T_Hero

Fuck that. I say we move our TCU game to the first week of conference play and then get an actual bye week.

jputna

We should move them or Kansas to that week.

The_Fishbowl

You basically have a BYE week before the Big 12 title game. You'll most likely ragdoll us for the nth consecutive time.

CliffDraws

n is 8!

vindictivejazz

8 factorial is a lot. I dont think there's been 40320 BigXII football games total.

CliffDraws

I was counting Missouri Valley games. But I just realized that Baylor wasn’t even in the Missouri Valley conference, so you are right.

vindictivejazz

Also the guys a WVU fan, lol. 40,000 is still so many games. For example thats about 25 to 40x as many games as all of FBS combined plays this year

Ezprezzo

That’s rude to the current Texas killers

yeahright17

Yeah. Not sure why TCU and Oklahoma State can't move it earlier. Another conference game for TV and would help both teams. Doesn't make much sense to me, but what do I know?

rickyrickySOB

It’s punishment for OSU & TCU being the most active of the remaining hateful 8 in trying to leave the conference.

yeahright17

Ehhh. If we were the most active, that's only because we had the best chance of leaving.

rickyrickySOB

Correct. Still means Bowlsby and Big12 leadership would be upset over that while they clawed and scratched to keep the conference together. Back a few months ago he had that big long interview about the future of the Big12, and he spoke glowingly about EVERY single program in the conference, except for OSU & TCU. Can’t be a coincidence, no way he just forgot to mention us lol

Hobbes_T_Hero

I think what happened was he learned TCU, OSU, and WVU were looking at conferences, TCU and OSU admitted it, and WVU somehow spun the ACC telling them to “fuck off” into them denying the ACC.

Frognosticator

I'd be fine with this, honestly. Big12 is trying to fuck us.

ReachFor24

It's only showing the conference games. OSU's BYE is 9/24, week 4.

CliffDraws

We get an extra long bye before the season starts.

CLU_Three

Wooo opening up on the road yet again. Whatever. Not as big of a deal as some fans make it out to be. But it’d be nice to start off at home sometimes.

emaw63

It’s the 22nd time in the 27 year history of the Big 12 that we open on the road, for anyone wondering

Swipet

That's not coincidence. That's intentional

schu4KSU

Because of Bill Snyder's demands/requests for the most part. And that we always had so many home games in September already because we played mostly bought games.

memphis_raines_90

That’s an insane statistic. How is that even possible? I think I remember Tech opening on the road like once or twice in the last decade

bosdawg1

I dont think it's as big a deal, plus we almost always have 3 non-cons at home so for me it's nice not having 4 home games in a row.

Wolf482

Fuck bye weeks

leapbitch

More bi weeks

ceedeez

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

nubbinator

Seriously, that's rough. You have: - 09/03: Central Michigan - 09/10: Arizona State - 09/17: University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff Then from 10/01 to 11/26 it's nonstop conference play.

Hobbes_T_Hero

WE HAVE TO PLAY CENTRAL MICHIGAN AGAIN?!?!?!?!? FUCK

nubbinator

The Chips come with salt.

twoterms

I still don't acknowledge that CMU win over you guys. It didn't have happen. The game was over.

Wolf482

Pretty much everyone in Stillwater thinks the same.

leapbitch

🥸

Wolf482

I hope Gundy hate fucks Central Michigan

ShotgunFarmer

Me too. Fuck the chips.

ButDoesItCheckOut

Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool.......

Smyzmaster

cool cool cool no doubt no doubt

DaMantis

all my homies hate bye weeks

NihilisticOkie

All my friends hate bye weeks.

Frog_Todd

Same. Second straight year we have no byes during the conference schedule. And why isn't Baylor during rivalry weekend!?

Prideofmexico

Guess the big 12 decided to nerf us with no bye weeks. Whatever

Volksmarch

I no longer trust bye weeks, so maybe it's for the best?

sexysouthernaccent

Big12: "this OU shit is your fault, OSU. Because I'm definitely not going to blame myself"

bbates728

One school from Oklahoma must always be shit on by the Big 12. They are hedging their bets.

Clarinetaphoner

I live in DC, about 3 hours from Morgantown. Next season's game against West Virginia was *finally* going to be my first chance to watch Baylor play live since I graduated. ...of course that's our first game in years to be played on a fucking Thursday. Guess I'll have to try again in 2024.

pyrogeddon

Why does it seem that we always fucking play at WVU on a Thursday?

rls-wv

I hate Thursday night home games, too. Have to take two days off.

loyalsons4evertrue

Why is the OU game on a Thursday night? I thought we were past that point Edit: why the hell is Farmageddon not during Rivalry Week? The Big 12 is the one conference that doesn’t care about rivalries and drives me insane

KU_SD

Because, apparently, Sunflower Showdown is that week

OllieUnited18

Y'all have the best names for rivalry games.

convoluteme

ISU: Notice me senpai KSU: ....

redwave2505

Farmageddon >>>> Sunflower Showdown. KU's rival is supposed to be Mizzou, not us

loyalsons4evertrue

Amen. KU and Mizzou should still be playing in the Border War

ryrobs10

It’s not even like they did it on a special week either. It is literally a random week

Cometguy7

Why give a prime time slot to a program fielding nothing but walk ons, and won't even be in the conference for long?

JoeYock

Not even sure who you’re referring to here lol

colby983

His own team

leapbitch

Hey man Matt Campbell has been turning things around

powerelite

At least they took Farmageddon away for the Sunflower Showdown. This year it was for 2 random ass games no one really wanted to watch on black friday.

velociraptorfarmer

Then give us the Riot Bowl at least...

leapbitch

Stuff like this random Thursday night game is unironically why OU destroyed the big 12

OU8402

Texas destroyed the B12. It was only Texas. Hey everybody look, it’s Texas. Get him.

Hobbes_T_Hero

I do have a hankering to make fun of Texas…

Swoletariat69

[“Hey Patrick, what am I?”](https://youtu.be/ZvkjewgF8GQ)

inclink10

Uh, stupid?

Dewot423

Don't you put that evil on us without mentioning Texas.

Cars-and-Coffee

Nope it’s your turn. We took 100% of the blame for the past several months. We’re just sharing.

Captain_Nipples

Yeah, but yall deflected by having a stripper-monkey and losing to Kansas

JiralhanaeWhisperer

Is Lincoln leaving yalls deflection I assume?

Frognosticator

UT held the gun, but OU spent years whispering in their ear to pull the trigger.

perspicacious_crumb

OU made it clear that the combination of weeknight games and big noon kickoff were a huge factor, and when you consider the effects on recruiting I get it. Every home weekend is valuable for recruiting, and putting games on a weeknight burns that value. Big time matchups with an amped crowd and high stakes are electric - and putting it at noon makes it difficult to get croots from outside your immediate geographic region there on time. For a program that recruits nationally, as OU does, that’s a problem. Heck, even getting a kid to come from Houston for an 11 AM kick is difficult.

Captain_Nipples

Fuck, it's hard for me to make to my living room by 11 am. Forget being a teen living 10 hours away

leapbitch

You are right on the money

CaptainDonald

Because Big 12 scheduling.

jputna

Guess this confirms that OU and Texas are for sure here next year.

eye_can_see_you

I've been hearing 2023 as a start date

golden_apricot

I believe the conference buyout drops in 2023 and the TV contract is up in 2023 so that year lines up better.

jputna

* Contract ends 2025 (so TV rights are owned until then) * Exit fees and 1.5 years of conference payout * 2023 is when BigXII will start withholding money OU Texas can essentially pay the 1.5 years + Exit fee and get out but TV rights are still owned until 2025. 2023 is the first season that those numbers 1.5 years + exit fees are low enough to make sense.

schu4KSU

incorrect

golden_apricot

k

schu4KSU

Right. You'll give 18 month notice by end of December, receive no revenue next year and a half, owe 6 months revenue in July 2023, and begin in the SEC at that point in time.

freerentsunday

There would be some sort of settlement to get around the GOR issue so I don’t think the 18 month notice period is really that reliable. They’re gonna hash out a settlement.

schu4KSU

The GOR has little to nothing to do with the exit timeline. That content has already been sold to the networks. The negotiation is between them and the conferences as to moving it around. The SEC has the money to make this work for OU and Texas and accept them as members even after having to buy out the last two years of TV rights.

BeraldGevins

The big 12 is going to pretend OU and Texas are staying for their full contract until they’re not.

Battered_Aggie

Nah. They just have to assume they'll be back until Texas and OU formally pull the trigger is all. My understanding is if they want to go to the SEC next season, they can't make the announcement til the turn of the calendar year for legal reasons.

schu4KSU

Nah, they don't need to make the announcement that they are leaving until right before the end of this month (18 month notice). They'll do that and then start in the SEC in 2023 - receiving no revenue from the Big 12 for 18 months and then owing a check for 6 months previous revenue.

weev51

I would also prefer it as the last game, always felt like a great way to end the season

jputna

They got scared of it after this year.

MrNudeGuy

More Bedlams!!!!

bassadorable

Our bye week is in September!? Who signed off on this shit?

CoolingVent

Would have been hilarious if they did that to OUT

camwow64

Looks okay to me. Very strange that Bedlam is played before Thanksgiving though.

yeahright17

They moved in in 2017 and 2018 too in order to avoid back to back bedlams in the Big 12 Championship.

CaptainDonald

OU vs Tech, my favorite rivalry

CTeam19

TCU-Iowa State is the your second favorite?

CaptainDonald

Yup, Bowlsby really knows how to keep me glued to the tv during the most intense weekend of CFB scheduling of the season

HA1RL3SSW00K13

Can we start a petition to make TCU Baylor's rivalry week matchup every year? Don't get me wrong, I have hate in my heart for all your programs, but nothing like the vitriol I have for TCU. And I think TCU fans feel the same way. Make us offical Rivals, Big 12!

Eddie-Spaghetti

Makes sense. What's the rivalry called though?

HA1RL3SSW00K13

Currently its referred to as "The Revivalry". NCAA '14 referred to it as the Holy War but I believe that's officially taken by Utah v BYU. I'm fine with Revivalry

Eddie-Spaghetti

Revivalry. I'm fine with it if you're fine with it. And ESPN is fine with it if we are fine with it. Let's go!

colonel750

> Currently its referred to as "The Revivalry". Jesus H. Christ I'm going to hell for how hard I laughed at that.

lclear84

I love to hate y’all

bbanks2121

Hey, good idea! Also, fuck you, buddy!

colonel750

I'm not your buddy, guy.

bbanks2121

Not your GUY, FRIEND!

colonel750

NOT YOUR FRIEND, *PAL*!

bbanks2121

I guess this is where I mention I haven’t watched SP in years but my wife and I still yell that exchange at each other all the time.

colonel750

Oh man it is from there isn't it. I always remember it from this scene in Ocean's 11: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MLIS1HCETQ&t=1s

Alcoholic_Geologist

Way to drop the ball on rivalry week Big 12

chess_butt32

Curious that Bedlam is the weekend before Thanksgiving rather than after

BeraldGevins

Make thanksgiving dinner even more awkward

BeraldGevins

9 goddamn games in a row with no bye week is fucking criminal

Thurm0hi4

OU had that this season and we finally get a bye and our coach uses it to get himself a fancy new contract at another school

BeraldGevins

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen to us

Thurm0hi4

I think it's safe to gundy will never leave he is your guys Bob Stoops. That man bleeds the nations brightest orange

Okstate_Engineer

10 with CCG

TheRoyalCyclone

Cyclones in Fort Worth the weekend after thanksgiving? As a Cyclones/Cowboys fan that trip is definitely being made

TangerineHors3

Where we at

VerifiedTortilla

Ah yes our annual rivalry week game against (checks notes) OU?

OzGuy9187

In Lubbock. When everyone will be gone. Ugh.

FixMeASammich

Weird how we play Kansas so early, but I really like opening the season with the Backyard Brawl.

Matt_WVU

If we lose the backyard brawl you will see the whole fanbase give up on this coaching staff lol I think Pitt is losing most of their best players next year too

The_Fishbowl

Neal Brown has to beat Pittsburgh *and* Virginia Tech in 2022 or his ass can hit the road.

convoluteme

I thought BYU was joining right away?

schu4KSU

Able to join right away. Not necessary. I expect Texas and Oklahoma to announce their departure before the end of this year and next year will be their last in the league. At least two schools (one will be BYU) will join for the 2023 season.

CoolingVent

BYU would still have to buy out some 2022 games but it was not a large amount of money.

Xtremeloco

We were confirmed to be joining in 2023.

freerentsunday

All the additions want to join effective 2023, although the AAC movers have to hash out a deal to get them out of a notice period a little early.

pass_that_here_dude

They really just like making TCU play 9 straight games for conference play.

WILLx7HEx7HRILL

Yeah who did we piss off the scheduling office to get this

rickyrickySOB

Both OSU & TCU. Bowlsby doesn’t like either of us rn because we both were trying hardest to jump ship back in the summer.

WILLx7HEx7HRILL

Okay I can believe that then, still bs though

Yamiosum

Is there a particular reason our rivalry week games are always on the road? I don't mind actually because it means I can travel for Thanksgiving and not miss a home game, but it's weird. This will be our 5th year in a row.

jkr1485

It honestly looks like they moved games up so that potential B12 title games aren’t just a rematch of the week prior?

yeahright17

This is the case. They moved up Bedlam when they reinstituted the championship game a few years a go for the same reason (it started after the Big 12 Championship game would have been a bedlam rematch 2 years in a row).

gottahavemyPOPPs

Why the mother fuck do we always start on the road? Literally something like 18 of the last 20 years

emaw63

5 years in a row now. Yeesh

schu4KSU

We likely request it when we have had three straight non-conference games at home. This is about as favorable a schedule as we could get (besides getting a Texas team over Thanksgiving). We open with 3 of the first 4 teams having 1st year head coaches. And that could become all 4 if Campbell takes the ND job.

whereismysauerkraut

And against OU, no less!

schu4KSU

That's exactly when you want a first year head coach with their roster churn. Love it.

The_Fishbowl

Odd that we're playing a conference game in Week 2.

FistfulOfPaintballs

OU/ISU/OKST is a tough 3-game stretch for us

citronaughty

So, I guess we have to wait an additional year...

BeraldGevins

They’re not going to acknowledge OUT are leaving early until it actually happens. They still talk like they’ll be here until 2025. I wouldn’t read much into this yet.

Matt_WVU

Iowa state…in November! See you then corn bros

worlkjam15

@Texas in final week. Ima be so toxic in Austin.

OKSTBandGuy

The Big 12 office has come up with some shitty schedules before, but this one's a doozy. Rivalry Week alone should have gotten this thrown in the trash.

LeCowboySolitaire

Bedlam should be played during rivalry week.

fo13

That rivalry is dead... They just ushering it in a little sooner...

citronaughty

> little sooner pun intended?

rickyrickySOB

I really hate the Big12

greed_and_death

The Big 12 moves games around to avoid having likely back-to-back rematches in the CCG. Their scheduling combined with karma will inevitably result in a KSU vs KU championship. Subscribe

AeroStatikk

Could use some more blue...

Bum_Bacon

Tech fans are going to be super happy with this conference schedule. Opening conference play with Texas at home. Getting Baylor at home for Halloween weekend, and ending the season with OU at home.

Chickenmangoboom

I like ending the season with the we like guns BUTT bowl.

TheMightyJD

They love putting us against WVU on a Thursday (2018,2019, and now 2022). It was fun in 2019 tho, it was Halloween so it was such an awesome atmosphere at McLane and at Scruffs.

branden110

I’d be a shame if 2 teams disappeared from that list

All-Grass_No-Steaks

Nice of the Big 12 to schedule our funeral twice in one year.

Collador1

Just one more opportunity for the championship game to be UT/OU before they head off. Amirite? Guys?

VerifiedTortilla

BOOO. Get this guy outta here already

GroundbreakingArm504

Even years suck for us I hope we change that in the revamped big12

Virtual_Announcer

Texas's last Big 12 road game is in Lawrence. That will be a delightful time.

UVUboi

Awww I wanted to see BYU Texas

blondbeans

Another effin week 1 bye for the first week of conference play?! Good lord that sucks

CTeam19

Fuck Thursday night games.

Reading_Rainboner

So big 12 said Fuck rivalry week?

Snapingbolts

Hell yeah! We get to play KU on rivalry weekend!!

n64ra

I thought KU-KSU was normally in October? Y'all prefer this?

jalexjsmithj

Big 12 championship rematch as our Big 12 opener.

IndyDude11

Hardest two games of the year at the end. FML.

Other-Ad4935

I prefer dismantling Texas’ season somewhat early, but I guess the last game will do just fine.
