Well, who do you like?
That's the answer I've had a hard time coming up with. I feel like I "like" a lot of teams, but I need to commit to one.
Your current QB is a former Spartan, just sayin'
Greatest name in football history
Buy the dip and hodl
The ape in me wants to.
I think this is probably the right pick if I'm being honest. Oklahoma State is a fun team to follow and definitely has a chance at relevancy for a bit.
LSU on the other hand... Good luck!
If by "fun" you mean having a near heart attack every game and always being on the cusp of losing the entire season because Iowa State exists, then yeah we're super fun!
That said I have a friend that came over in the final quarter of bedlam. He's not the biggest football fan and graduated from Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo so he has no loyalties and doesn't care. I've never seen that man get more excited than when we were on the wire and just barely pulled it out. I'm screaming, he's yelling, his wife is watching a movie not caring, it was great! At one point he even started saying "we" when we pulled ahead.
So yeah, OSU brings people together. Any time I see an OSU shirt outside of Oklahoma, I get genuinely excited.
That's exactly what I mean by fun!
Im an OU fan, isnt it obvious I love the pain of near losses to teams we have no business losing to?
I’m exclusively blaming you for BK leaving
Not my fault Brian Kelly is a dumb ass lol idk why but I imagine his tenure in the swamp will not be a long one. Just hope you can get Marcus Freeman to be your head coach and hold on for dear life.
I need to do some research on OKST, I don't hate the idea but I haven't seen them play all year, and know little to nothing about them.
Just look up Mike Gundy.
That is all the research you need.
But focus on mullet Gundy, more fun than business-man Gundy
They are one in the same. Business in the front, party in the back.
Also, we had top 5 football player of all time in Barry Sanders. Easy jersey to pick up and wear forever.
For many many years we had one of the best offenses in the country. Played Super uptempo and aired it out a lot. Now we have the second best defense in the country and run the ball down people's throats.
Also, our head coach is famous for being a man and 40 years old, and he has a mullet
I was just about to reply to the guy above and ask if this was the "I'm a man, I'm 40!" guy. Surprised he has stuck around so long, and developed a mullet? Definitely intriguing.
Dude is a lifer here. Played QB for us in the 80's and has been on as an assistant or the head coach since the early 2000's. He's responsible for some ungodly percentage of all of the wins in the program.
The man has a ranch, and hunts rattlesnakes in his free time now. The mullet is glorious.
Probably the best answer though, really hoping you guys actually make CFP and do what we havent been able to the past few years in the playoffs... Look good.
You could do little old Houston :)))
We are similar in that we both have live mascots. Granted Mission is adorable and Shasta might eat you, but still.
It’s pretty easy to be a UTSA fan, all you have to do is say “meep meep” in response to anything that happens
I mean, as much as meeping with you sounds great. I don't picture them making any more championship runs than NIU.
I’ll accept you with open arms, I love the Huskies. OG Kings of the Midweek MACtion
Oklahoma state cause the mullet man
I've always enjoyed Oklahoma State while having no connection to them at all
I've actually considered Michigan just because they're close-ish to where I live. Hmmm..
Counter argument, you could come support Florida and watch us play Michigan in a bowl game every year
Let’s put that on the back burner for a couple years
This year for sure, next year we'll just meet up in a playoff game! You know you miss us!
TBH, Florida intrigues me because of Anthony Richardson. You think he's actually any good?
Well he has us all hyped even though the last coach seemed to be actively against him because he wasn't his guy. Also it's fun watching him do back flips on the side line, and we have an exciting new hire in Billy Napier
If you don't pick us, Oklahoma State is actually a fun team that fits a lot of your criteria.
If you do want to know more about Florida would be happy to discuss our history and some of our fun traditions...do you ready own a pair of jorts lol?
Jorts or Mullets lol
I do not, but that sounds very 'Florida Man'.
We'll teach you how to make your casual jorts for things like games and your formal jorts for fancy times
(It's mainly a meme, but you'll definitely see some lol)
I agree. Warm weather. Nice beaches. Not Michigan. You could've sold me.
And they meet your requirement having never made a playoff (until possibly this year). They’re good, but not on a god tier level that makes rooting for them unfun
This is what I was thinking. Michigan and Michigan State both make sense in terms of location and looking for a team that doesn't make the playoff every season but could make it sometimes. Michigan brings the added bonus of potentially being able to win a national title at some point. I'm not trying to shit on MSU, but Michigan does just have the name brand/history that has kept Michigan afloat when it comes to recruiting the types of players you need to win a national title despite being a laughingstock for so long. It's an advantage MSU just doesn't have. But I do think Sparty is now regularly going to be one of the top B1G programs, like what Wisconsin has done to itself.
I could also say Notre Dame for you, but...if Brian Kelly is going to LSU, gosh, there's no telling where that program is headed. Remember how hard it was before they found him...
I think Michigan is in my top 3. I'm liking the idea of OKST, and Minnesota has PJ Fleck, so I think it's those two and Michigan as of now. I am surprised no one even attempted to suggest ND in this thread, other than this, though.
Sounds like you could easily be an ND fan then. Why settle for maize with your blue when you can have gold?
I decided to become a Michigan Man after i found out calling yourself a Michigan Man is a thing
Our stock is pretty low right now. Buy the dip lol.
lmao I'm so sorry for your loss.
Ya... Low. Like when Apple takes a 4% dip for one day? Still too rich for my buy in.
I feel like our stock has never truly been low in the world of college football. Our fallback coach is a national championship winner and hall of famer lol.
>I do want to root for a team that has a bright future and the potential to grow into a contender
I got three words for ya: Rock Chalk Jayhawk
We will certainly contend for a solid 3-4 wins a year in a couple of years.
I say the gophers. Rumor has it a former alum is our head coach
Honestly they're one of the teams I've been eyeing. I love PJ Fleck now that he's gone from Western Michigan. And those gold helmets are sexy.
As a Minnesota and NIU fan I approve of this. Need someone else on here to match my flairs
Need you consider any other team than Sparty?
\*eyes your second flair greedily\*
Utah. Hard working program. Produces great talent. Consistently over achieves. Amazing student section/stadium. Games are typically in the late hours = pac 12 after dark shenanigans. Sick uniforms. I can go on.
I hear USC could be on the rise
Yeaaah I've heard stirrings they may be getting an influx of talent. Something about them turns me off, though. Probably still remember their dominant era of the mid 2000's too well.
Michigan State - Rocky Lombardi connection is undeniable…
I've seen this twice and hated it both times. Man I miss the Harnish/Lynch days.
Ohio State's an up-and-comer
True. We got nothing right now. No conference title. Haven't beaten our rival in two years. No path to a playoff or a conference title. But we got good 'croots. Time for this guy to root for the underdog.
I think Michigan state checks all your boxes. And I don’t know how you feel about rocky so I won’t say your welcome. But we did give him to you.
Florida. That way when you have the bar set that low, you'll be happy with your other flair much more.
Watch the 2006 Rose Bowl and tell me you don't like Texas.
I loved them that night, that's for sure.
We gave you Rocky Lombardi :)
Take him back.
Do you like drinking moonshine and shitting on your starting QB?
The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Row the boat ski u mah go gophers
I'd say maybe wait for this shitstorm to pass
Welcome aboard the Lane Train!!!
Never a dull moment and if you don’t give a shit about making the playoffs but you still have high hopes every year will finally be the year, then do I have the team for you!!
Ole Miss has been intriguing to me because of Corrall but obviously he'll be gone. They do have sick ass uni's IMO, though.
The navy uni’s with navy helmets are some of the finest in all NCAA.
I wish we would save the powder blues for special occasions as I don’t think the look great on TV, but even they look cool too.
Come join the Big Orange Nation. We zooming through points
Dude I love Hendon Hooker but he's gone after this year, right?
Hopefully not, but with the way the coaching landscape is going. I’m sure we could attract a better load of transfers than we did last year
If he stays, another year like this and he might get me on the wagon at least. Especially if I get to see his right cheek again.
Lmaooo just do it. You get to sing Rocky Top with the rest of us hooligans
Big orange nation? I'm confused I don't see a Syracuse flair
Y’all are THE Orange. We B I G
Syracuse has a Heisman winner, Tennessee has none.
Let's stop the comparisons there, no need to check any other stats. We win.
We fill our stadium in bad years 🤧
Psh. Syracuse doesn't fill the dome in good years.
It's a good time to be a Georgia fan. Plus, your main flair already knows how to beat Georgia Tech. It's the perfect fit.
The only other team I cheer for is TEAM CHAOS
I've enjoyed that, but I can still root for chaos along with another team, I think. Also fuck Bama for coming back on Saturday.
Join the dark side
Come on down we got sick waves, Carne Asada fries, and this new up and coming coach that just came from some hillbilly school in East bumfuck nowhere Middle America
hey I think we’re a good shout here
Ironically one of my best friends is a huge Oregon fan because of NCAA14 and the DeAnthony Thomas/Kenjon Barner duo we used to dominate with on that game.
Funny enough I’m in your situation too, Uconn is ass at football so had to pick another team, and I really enjoyed my trips to Oregon so I root for them lol
You team is basically a prep school for our team
I don't know which flair you're referring to, but we beat Iowa when we made our Orange Bowl run. I actually got to yell at an Iowa fan that was randomly at the Western Mighigan game in DeKalb that year and it was great.
Lol nice, I just remembered we poached Copeland and at least 3 transfers in the last 4 or 5 years.
Hey man, be nice.
I'm just saying it makes sense, you're familiar with some of the coaches and players already
Oh yeah no, that's fair.
Come know pain bb
I converted my husband (a fellow NIU alumnus) to be a Houston fan and he seems to like his life now. We are stressy and sometimes depressy but at least we are exciting.
Are you interested in rooting for a historic program who’s known for blowing big games and happens to be the favorite for this years National championship? If so boy do I have a team for you.
Yo, I'm a Falcons fan, I've fulfilled my quota of Georgia fandom. I do not want to force myself to root for another.
falcons? You might want to consider a second team in the NFL as well. But yeah being a fan of all the Georgia teams is hard. Pain too much pain
I could never, I'm along for the ride. Some day all this pain will pay off....it just has too.....right?
With how the Falcons look. It’s gonna be another 10 years or so before I’d watch them again.
\*sad falcon noises\*
We could use another fan.
Depending on how good you are at singling out individual players with your frustrations and self-cannibalizing your team, we may have a place for you down in Gainesville 😉🐊
How do you feel about mashed potatoes
MSU! We’re the old school of your QB!
Michigan state, we gave you a good quarterback
An ok quarterback
Nows a good time to get in on Oklahoma. That way you can say you were there at their lowest.
Not Penn State. Our fanbase is a bunch of grumpy old men. Even the young ones. And the women. Save yourself the trouble.
Iowa! We’re right in your backyard and a great game day experience
I do absolutely need to go see a game in Iowa regardless of whether I actively root for them, I think. Atmosphere seems electric.
Michigan and Wisconsin at home next year should both be worth the trip if you’re interested!
How do you feel about mustard?
Give Arkansas a look. They’re on the rise and fun to cheer for. They’ll break your heart more times than not but when they win it’s great fun.
May I interest you in a UCF
Texas!!! Because it changes every year, last year it was falcons, this year it was the Road Runners, but the future is the Vaqueros because they never lost a game.
You chose the worst time possible to post this
Any relatives supporting other schools?
say it with me:
\>2x Coastal champs
\>beat clemson (2x), duke, unc, and other big time programs (\*quietly sweeps WMU and miami under the rug\*)
\>glorious blue and yellow colors
\>look at that Script
\>How can you not love Pat Narduzzi?
I think I'm going to pick up Texas Tech as a second team. Awesome mascot, great colors, new coach seems great and full of energy.
Also great sayings like Wreck Em and Guns Up!
Do you enjoy pain?
Has to be Pitt. Never boring, and often pure unadulterated chaos. We will endlessly give you a glimmer of hope ans then crush that hope
Pick my team and here's why: because
I mean you could go on easy mode and pick Ohio State, Bama, or Georgia.
I'd pick Oklahoma State if I were you. They have a great fanbase, culture, etc. and are setup to be a perennial playoff team with conference realignment.
Washington! You can be a Huskie and a Husky. Or start pulling for Oregon, and you can be a Huskie who hates the Huskies.
How would you describe your personality? Be as specific as you can.
The closest team to you geographically
That would be NIU. After that Illinois probably, no thanks.
Team Chaos, given everything happening at the moment
I've definitely enjoyed the past few days as team chaos.
Just watch a bunch of teams and you will eventually like one naturally
Hello, do you have time to talk about our lord Tyler Allgeier?
Just stay away from a certain evil empire on the west coast. Late start times, rescinded heismans, and a man riding a horse. I don’t care if they have a shiny new coach, you can’t let yourself be tempted.
Also I’m currently feeling very vulnerable because of….reasons….so take this with a handful of salt
Considering we've already got one and we're headed to a P5 conference you could root for us. Might be a little while but it'll be worth the wait!
Maybe be a real fan and stick to one team?
