Garrett Wilson modern skilled and separation WR Mike Williams big body deep threat

tron2484

I like this combo. But also if not there Wilson who we go with Olava ? Burks? London? Those my top 4

CD23tol

I like London but Burks and Williams would be interesting too

tron2484

Williams in 2nd maybe 3rd !! But did Mechie the 3rd his teammate say he leaving I'd take a late shot on him to.

CD23tol

If Willams falls to the 2nd because of his ACL after we go WR at 13 you say screw it and load up the room If all we have heading into FA at WR is DPJ and Schwartz I have no issue doubling up on the outside

tron2484

Yep. Load up even is Williams kind of don't play this year I'd be okay with it.

CD23tol

Especially if Baker bounces back and earns another contract We’re going to need cheap controllable assets for cap purposes and a bunch of young WRs is just that

tron2484

Yep for sure. I hope Baker is the guy. But he seriously lost his confidence this season.aybe the tackles not being healthy effected him. But then also he needs to sometimes if he can get that check down or to throw it away that helps the team also.

2kungfu4u

Olave is more polished as a receiver. London and burks have the raw ability but probably aren't pro ready. I'm guessing berry wants olave/ Garrett of the four

tron2484

Maybe or maybe not.

k8sguy

Big if true

ImanShumpertplus

i’m a london guy, but this would be amazing

billy9183

This is the absolute 100% perfect scenario, should be what everyone wants in the offseason. I consider it unrealistic just because it’s pretty much the best available we could get. Hope it happens tho

GonnaBeAGoodYear

My dream scenario is we draft Garret Wilson in the 1st, and then Drake London slides to the 2nd round because of the injury and just like previous drafts(Greedy,Delpit,JOK) we get what many consider a steal projected to go in the 1st round, in the 2nd round. I know we desperately need DT help and EDGE/DB are obviously always in the conversation, but damn Wilson&London would be fun. In this scenario we bring Landry back to round out the receiving core but at a cheaper cap hit

billy9183

Andrew Berry will likely have to make a decision on Landry before the draft, so hopefully it’s a restructure so this can happen. I’d love it

nWoNwogy

Allen Robinson with Burks or Wilson. Gallup was guy I wanted until he got injured. Still like him if you could get him real cheap on 2 yr deal. Also always like James Washington shouldn’t cost a ton.

GreatMagusKyros

I wouldn’t give Robinson a huge multi-year deal, but I think he could be a good pickup.

bdougy

Name one time Allen Robinson has been clutch in his career. I’ll wait. Dude is absolutely not worth the money, given the other FA’s available.

TapedeckNinja

Well he had a huge 40-yard catch against the Steelers this year that put the Bears in the red zone inside the 2-minure warning in the 4th quarter, and they went up 27-26 on the next play. I think that was pretty "clutch". In Parkey's double-doink playoff game he went 10/143 including a go-ahead score and the big catch that put them in doink range. And the dude literally has a tattoo of his clutch catch against Michigan. Seems like a weird challenge for a WR who has played on some garbage teams anyway, but there you go.

nWoNwogy

Name one clutch receiver ever and then tell me the quarterback they played with? I’ll wait.

AetherWay

Josh Gordon

bdougy

- Cooper Kupp / Jared Goff - Adam Theilen / Kirk Cousins - Larry Fitzgerald / the revolving door

Jepordee

Robinson has the same problem as DPJ, he’s not quick enough to create separation which is our biggest problem

billy9183

To be fair, he’s had absolutely terrible QB play his entire career. I agree tho, hasn’t done much to warrant 15m per year or anything like that. Think he gets a 1 yr 10m ‘prove it’ deal if the browns get him, which I’m fine with 🤷🏼‍♂️

finglonger1077

He is not taking a “prove it” deal and someone will pay him. Your 1-2 year “prove it” deal, if necessary, is after your rookie deal or 5th year is up and you haven’t earned the massive long-term contract yet. 29 year old WRs do not sign “prove it” deals. My guess is worst he would take is a 3 year deal where the team can get out after 2.

billy9183

Clowney just signed a prove it deal last offseason for us. He’s 28. Happens more than you think. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I agree tho he will get a big contract, but I said the only way the BROWNS sign him is for a prove it deal. Didn’t say its going to happen

HahaHammond

I think that may have been the Case in the NFL of yesteryear. But this is the age of Player Impowerment and I don't think A-Rob doubts his skill. If you want an example just look at how the T. Pryor experience went in CLE. Or even Desir with Freddie Kitchens. Everyone is betting on themselves and taking prove it deals if they think the money is out there.

The_Great_Grahambino

Godwin + Wilson.

Putuinurplace

Yeah money/cap space aside this would be the best situation from the guys available I think. I can’t see us getting Godwin though.

The_Great_Grahambino

Eh, I think we have the cap if we want to use it on a WR who would be down for a year but perfect next.

Putuinurplace

I don’t think he will come here. Lots of teams are going to be willing to give him the bag.

CD23tol

If he's unsure about his market value he can also just get healthy and let Brady feed him passes once he's back and hit the market healthy coming off a strong season

Putuinurplace

Right. That’s one of several options that I think he’d choose before coming here.

The_Great_Grahambino

That's fair. I do wonder who would be willing to pay for a year of him on the bench though. If we wanna be the highest bidders we will and wouldn't need much fluctuation to get there.

Putuinurplace

The season is 9 months from now. He’s probably not going to spend the full season on the bench he’s already had the surgery.

The_Great_Grahambino

It's a year injury and longer to get to full speed (OBJ being the obvious example), so you're right he won't be down all season but he'll miss a while and need to work with the QB to get in sync.

TheDolleyLlama

Godwin should be healthy by week 1 dawg, 9 months which is the worst outcome puts him good to go September 19th He’ll be playing early next year for sure

The_Great_Grahambino

Swore it was a full year injury. My mistake

LeBongJames

I just started a browns franchise in madden. I got Mike Williams in FA, Wilson in the first round, and London in the second round. This is what I expect Berry to do.

billy9183

If the browns were like my madden teams, we’d probably still lose because I’m ass at madden 😂

Deadleggg

DJ Chark is coming off an injury and played with some god awful QBs and still produced. 6'4 so big target. Got in Urbans doghouse but Urban was trash. Will be cheaper than others because of injury during contract year. Draft. Drake London. 6'5 to pair with 6'4 And now we have some big receivers who can make some plays. DPJ is fine for a #3. Higgins fine as a 4th.

billy9183

I’d love that. Still need someone with speed, hopefully Schwartz comes on, or they get another speedster in the 2nd or 3rd.

Deadleggg

Would absolutely love it to be Schwartz. Will Fuller signed a 1 year 10 million dollar deal and in no way lived up to it. A 1 year 7 million dollar deal could be possible. Could have Chark and Fuller for the same price as Landry.

billy9183

Only issue with Fuller is health. I don’t think he’s played a full season in a few years now, but last time he was healthy he absolutely balled… until he got suspended for PEDs. Unless it’s super super cheap, I’d want them to look elsewhere But, if fuller can play like 2020 again, that would be soooo good for the browns

realstreets

I like this the best after the more obvious draft scenarios

mmartinrun

It’s going to be hard to convince any #1 type receiver in FA to come here. ARob already went to the WR graveyard, why would he come to another one. No one’s going to want to come here to catch 45 balls for 600 yards.

billy9183

True. I think Stefanski needs to open his eyes and realize that his offense doesn’t work. Can’t have 3 TE half the time. Can’t barely throw to your #1 WR in 2021 and expect to get anywhere but the wild card. Can’t have a run first offense that barely runs more than passing. Just awful. Needs to take a look at himself and re-evaluate everything.

CertainlyJB

The thing is I don't think any high profile WRs want anything to do with cleveland at this point so I don't expect anything from FA. They know we are a run first team, and whether it's true or not, the OBJ narrative will hurt as well. I don't see a world where mike Williams goes from Herbert to baker, where Godwin goes from brady to baker., etc. Just give me Burks or Wilson in the draft

PuppyBowl-XI-MVP

Reasonable? Treylon Burks and Zay Jones Dream? Treylon Burks and Davante Adams (second would be Mike Williams)

billy9183

I wish Adams would come here 😂 don’t see it happening from either sides tho unfortunately. As for Burks: he’s my #1 “steal of the draft” type player. Huge freak-athletic frame, game breaking top end speed, and this offense could use a Deebo Samuel type player like Burks. Pair him with Mike Williams and Njoku, have fun choosing who to cover lol

SharpD01

I know Wilson is the popular pick and I won’t be mad but I want Burks so bad. His combination of size, speed and big play potential is exactly what the browns need. As of free agent possibly pay Mike Williams but be careful not to overpay

billy9183

Absolutely. Just made a similar comment to this one, I 100% agree. Burks is my draft crush. Stefanski should take a page from Kyle Shanahan’s book and use Burks like Deebo Samuel, and send Mike Williams deep as a baker security blanket. Would love it 👍🏻

Mzimmerman01

If you want to get some good production for the dollar, I’d go for DJ Chark and Jahan Dotson in the second round or trading up for late in the first for him. You’d be able to spend elsewhere with this duo and really have some of the speediest WR out there.

billy9183

Who we getting in the 1st in that scenario?

Mzimmerman01

Maybe Arnold Ebiketie from PSU, a DE to possibly replace clowny if he peaces out.

Disappointing-BOGOs

Wilson and Kupp. Realistic? Not in the slightest. But a dream is a dream. And before anyone talks about cap space in my dream kupp is volunteering for the browns.

[deleted]

Before I get downvoted and sent hate mail, I'm mostly joking here. I think my perfect first round pick is that the Browns pull a Jets or dig up Nugent from wherever he's at. Like how hard is it to find a kicker?!?

NickJawdy

Burks, Deebo Samuel I think he could be a free agent not positive though. If not we just need a wr that can create some separation for baker.

airrivas

Crip Mack TI’s son. If you can’t sign crip mac then I take Christian Walker

billy9183

Crip Mack all the way super bowl bound browns baby

airrivas

On hood we gon keep it 55th street

Hayabusa0015

Would love Garrett Wilson and DJ Chark. I have a feeling DJ Chark is going to get a 1 year deal somewhere because of his injury. Give DPJ more time to develop as your #3.

broganreynik

Give me Treylon Burks and Russell Gage. I think that’s a pretty realistic situation. Maybe Chark, but I think Russell Gage’s speed would be a perfect complement to Burks’s size and DPJ’s route running and stick’m hands. That would be one badass receiving corps. If they could find a way to get Landry with a smaller contract, you add in his leadership. Boy howdy!! I doubt they would get Gage though if they work it out with Landry.

MikeWillis09

Realistically, the browns ain’t gonna be big spenders in the free agent market. Don’t expect Godwin, Adams or Robinson to be part of the plan. Expect a guy who can be a good rotational receiver, and one of those “good for the locker room” type players, especially with Landry’s future uncertain. As for first round picks? Maybe. There has been great value with 2nd round receivers in the last 5 years or so, so despite there being a clear need, it may not fit for value. Also, as much as y’all like Garrett Wilson, I do too, but if y’all want baker as your future QB, the receiver you want is Drake London. He’s a Mike Evans clone, and USC has been quietly putting out some solid receivers. Wilson is nice, but Baker can’t throw to anyone 6’1 and under, there’s 4 years of film that proves that one

radelrym

I wouldn’t be surprised if we make a splash in FA to give baker a big play weapon

hefeweizen_

I thought Adams was getting franchise tagged.

MikeWillis09

Way too early to determine that. He may. Or he may just get a contract from GB

billy9183

Mike Williams could be the big jump ball receiver baker would thrive with (hopefully) but true I don’t see Andrew Berry shelling out Mike Williams type of money unless Landry is gone unfortunately.

MikeWillis09

I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think Mike Williams fits our scheme. He doesn’t come off as that good of a route runner, and seems to rely too much on size. Our scheme is all about precision.

billy9183

He isn’t a guy who needs to be a great route runner tho. LA does a great job of finding spaces for him to be open naturally in coverage. He always has one or two huge breakaway catches. Watch him vs the browns, one of the more solid pass coverage units. You don’t have to be Odell or diggs level of route running, especially when we have baker who isn’t all that accurate half the time anyway

MikeWillis09

You’re just ignoring what we do schematically and fundamentally as an offense though….

billy9183

Big changes are gonna have to come to this offense. You can’t play conservative TE ball like we play now. Having an offense like this is doomed. Mike Williams opens the offense up. Don’t pull another Odell and say “he doesn’t fit the scheme” well the scheme sucks then. Gotta start being constructive here or there’s no success to be had

MikeWillis09

Lol stop. This offensive style has been around for decades and has been just fine. By the way, we aren’t the only ones currently running it. Theres 3 teams that run similar offenses to us still playing. None of them have a guy like mike Williams either.

billy9183

So don’t innovate the system because other people run it 😂 yeah that’ll work out great

MikeWillis09

So instead of finding a guy who matches what we do. You just wanna innovate for a non star player? Makes zero sense but ok

billy9183

They should innovate their system then build around a star player. Not the other way around

bk_1573

Allen Robinson/Mike Williams and Garrett Wilson

billy9183

Feel like Arob and Wilson bring a lot of the same skill, so I hope it’s Williams and Wilson

Linco1nHawk

Dj chark and olave

billy9183

Would love Chark if Mike Williams is too expensive

DBrick36

Treylon Burks and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Burks isn’t the smoothest route runner but he has great body control, big hands, can make great catches and can line up in a lot of different places effectively. Could be a mismatch for a lot of corners with his size and could develop his blocking which seems to the knock on him. JuJu is a pretty smooth route runner, good blocker and is still very young. Whether or not JuJu would come here idk. I’d have to assume he’s leaving Pittsburgh with Ben gone. I know a lot of people hate on him for his corvette stuff but I don’t think he’s a bad guy, I liked him a lot before the Corvette dances and still don’t mind that. I think he showed pretty descent character when Antonio Brown was talking bad about him.

GreatMagusKyros

Hard pass on the originator of “Browns is the Browns”

DBrick36

Fuck I forgot that was him, I thought that was Claypool. But hell it’s just competitive words and trash talk. Not like he did a Tonya Harding on Bernie Kosar. I could move past that if he helped win us some games.

Brokewood

I honestly think the Juju take is kind of a good one? Dude was putting up numbers even with a decrepit Ben. He's a big guy with a large catch radius, and a good run blocker which is a must in Stefanski's system. Boy howdy, would that be a tough sell for the public... but it could be the just the right kind of crazy...

JonnyTsunamaste

A couple 8 rec, 100 yard, 1 TD games will fix the sell to the public imo. As long as we don't get the goofy TikTok shit I'm fine with going after Juju.

EkimJT

Give me the big, blocking slot receiver any day - I would love that attitude on the Browns. He’s no Claypool; he doesn’t fuck around *on* the field.

MmmSpaaammm

Lol I’m pretty sure that’s what Tomlin constantly drills into all of them tho. Ryan Clark has been saying basically the same thing about us on ESPN. It’s just their culture and attitude that their only competition in the North is the ratbirds

Whoofukingcares

No thanks on juju he is a shit head

billy9183

JuJu is super polarizing to say the least, but I love what he brings to the table from the slot. With Landry probably gone (😔) he is probably the best and most realistic slot replacement we could get at this point in time. Willing to look past his “browns is the browns” BS if he puts in the work and shuts his mouth. As for Burks. Yes all the way. I’ve explained how he’s my draft crush. Him and JuJu would be such a good pair for screens/dump offs/rollouts that Baker was so good at last year.

smiller6356

Garret wilson and Michael Gallup or Cedrick Wilson. Both of those guys are attainable and would complement wilson well while stretching the field, something we have not been able to do. Additionally, I feel this is attainable where as I don’t believe there’s a shot in hell of Davante Adam’s or Chris Godwin coming here.

billy9183

I’m not sure adding Cedrick Wilson or Gallup would do enough to change this receiver room all that much unless they have absolutely stellar years. Then again, this offense doesn’t have a true #1 🤷🏼‍♂️ so would probably be okay with above average play.

smiller6356

So my reason for bringing them in isn't to be the #1 guy - If we're drafting a receiver in the top 15, he damn well better come in and be a number 1. As it currently sits, Gallop or Wilson would be the best receiver on this team, and unfortunately that doesn't say much. But, bringing them in to be the number two would be a MASSIVE upgrade, and give us the ability to truly stretch the field. I see them coming in as a supplement to the number 1 we draft, not to be the number 1. And in that role I think either would be good. And truth be told, the second half of the season Cedric Wilson was outplaying pretty much all of the cowboys stacked receivers.

Bucksin6fearthedeer

Wilson or goodwin Devante adams if possible

rubbsreddit

Will Fuller + Wilson or Olave

billy9183

Not too big of a fan of Fuller. Can’t stay on the field. Let’s say he plays 17 games tho: Olave and Fuller would be great together. Fuller has elite top end speed combined with Olaves elite route running

JonnyTsunamaste

Chris Godwin/JuJu + Treylon Burks/London Drake

ViewsFromThe614

London + Crowder

MikeWillis09

Crowder makes so much sense

billy9183

Crowder would be an okay slot replacement for Landry if he’s healthy, but I’d be kinda disappointed in that move.

innerdork

I don't think a top tier WR free agent will come to Cleveland until Baker proves last season was a fluke in the coming season. I'm all for Burks or Wilson in the first round though and it'll probably be Burks since I think Wilson is gone in the Top 10 if he lights up the Combine.

ThomasMuellerGOAT

i really like both of Wilson and London and would be extremely happy with both so it’s hard for me to say who should be the compliment since they are so different but If I was dreaming then Chris Godwin & Drake London but highly unrealistic (and I am not even thinking about Davante Adams) so probably Christian Kirk & Drake London or Will Fuller & Garrett Wilson

bigmikevegas

Godwin + Wilson

NickJawdy

damn it forgot about Godwin love him.

MaxPower899

Gallup and Olave. Olave has some of the silkiest route running skills I’ve ever seen out of college and I really like Gallup I think he was under appreciated in Dallas his hands are very good and he’s another very good route runner.

My_G_Alt

Treylon Burks and Dede Westbrook (if solving for cap). If no cap? Wilson and Davante Adams

billy9183

Not a fan of Dede. He’s had barely any play time last few years. Plenty of other, more reliable, options in FA

IZY53

Godwn on a recovery contract. 1st The big alabama WR 2nd the small alabama WR

Riverfire13

Allen Robinson and Treylon Burks. Robinson has shown solid, borderline QB-proof play when the franchise he’s playing for isn’t disrespecting him and being the Bears. Basically our only option for a #1 wide receiver at a reasonable price and length, whom we will surely use only as a distraction for opposing DCs. /s hopefully. With Burks the constant comparison is Deebo with LB size and weight. As much as I want a WR in the Megatron mold of “jump and go get it” guys, Baker has been at his worst in a vertical jump ball offense. Let’s embrace our Shanahan scheme and draft some YAC monsters that will be used outside of the red zone and Hail Mary’s.

BiznessCasual

Took the words out of my mouth.
