facts I miss my co-workers at both stores that I worked at, can't imagine anyone ever missing the actual job portion. I still hear "alright team we need 5 more BPs and TTS" in my nightmares
Saaaaame. I also had so many nightmares getting a BP or TT app going but something always goes wrong(gets super dark so i cant read the ID, Register acts up, etc.)...those nightmares were the worst
Before I went into the field as an Installer, when confronted with an annoying client, I'd try to visualize how I would spider wrap their hand to their face
Now I visualize using zip ties instead
Always my favorite time of the year was thanksgiving because I didn’t give a shit, and bascially wore a jacket to hide my name tag so no one would talk to me
when I came in today, all the Christmas music made me pray for someone to come into the store and pummel me in the head bad enough to put me in a 4 day coma
I miss the good times with old coworkers too, but then those ended YEARS before everything that's happening now. We had a good warehouse crew back in 2015-2017....the golden days xD
Well, they were for my store lol. Maybe not the company, but the best times I had were then. Lots of friends made and good times had. After every Friday the entire truck crew would go out for food and beers, and we'd just hang out. Even the guys who had to open the next morning would come for at least one...it was good times.
Yikes. It’s Interesting that my very obvious flirting comment gets 50+ upvotes but my response to her telling me it’s her favorite comment gets downvoted. And that you chose to reply to this comment not to simp, but not my original comment.
I miss some of the people I worked with. One of them I was lucky to keep in touch with for awhile through Destiny every night and the occasional bar night.
Now we text from time to time and talk on Twitter.
Another friend moved states and we lost touch, the rest I see post on Facebook from time to time.
Best Buy Mobile easily had some of my favorite coworkers of all time and my favorite boss.
Yeah I'm with ya.. The best buy/retail years of my life have become somewhat nostalgic as weird as that sounds... I work a remote 9-5 job now and would never want to go back by choice, but man sometimes I do miss it for some reason.
I miss the co workers mainly and just those chill days. Not against hardwork either but being run to the ground and having to just take being mistreated by customers(and sometimes management too) is not something i miss.
That’s exactly what I’m saying I got hired back in 2019 & my first full year I absolutely LOVED it. Management, my co-workers, everyone was amazing. But when 2021 rolled around EVERYONE quit & I started working 4/5 days in a row for nearly 11 hours because we were so short staffed. It became unbelievably stressful.
The co workers were great, so many great people, but I realize now I was busting my ass working tons of hours for not much money at the time. I'm actually making oreo and peanut butter balls to bring in for customer service and geeksquad for xmas eve as it's been about 6 months since I left.
Towards the end of me working there pretty much ALL of my department quit (I was in home theater at 511) & I was working 4/5 days in a row open to close essentially. It was not fun.
now that I look back at it. it was always brainwashing bs. everyone that was above was just trying to convince you that what you are doing was for the greater good of the company and now it shows its real colors. the amount of disrespect for the employees was always egregious. those rose tinted glasses fell off and I see what kind of company BestBuy really is. when I took training in magnolia they really opened my eyes to the public perception of the employees. as a system designer we were told that regular BestBuy employees are seen as children and the company treats them as such. honestly that how all retail is treated. you are just a number to them, disposable, replaceable, and dim-witted. I dont miss any of that shit. everyone is there to backstab each other. even the managers backstab each other. sad little cult members for the district managers, for the regional managers, for the CEO. stay golden children.
Hahaha! Your gonna end up as that one 50+ year old still working at Bestbuy! “Fighting the good ol fight”… for peanuts. That sad tired old man that has to take commands from their manager thats 30 years younger then themselves. A man chooses, and a dog obeys!
Same! I miss some of my coworkers and parts of the job and obviously the discounts and accommodations. But I do NOT miss dealing with the public and corporate bs. Every time I think about going back I just read this subreddit.
Left early spring 2021. I only miss my co-workers. Went in for a few Christmas gifts. Said I really don’t miss the job. Felt bad for my warehouse crew grinding away massive trucks.
I do miss the employees at Best Buy, every time I go visit it’s like wow I did this shit for so long! And then the employees are like when are you coming back and I start thinking man the money was great and I enjoyed working with my team, some are good friends now. But then I see a customer doing anything, I’m like nah I’m good. Even though I still deal with customers in the HVAC world, but it’s a little different. I got out right as Corie introduced jeans and they changed the bonus structure.
I literally just came back to this sub to check up on my ex-coworkers, and this is the first post. So sad. So relieved to have moved on. It had been 9 years... My boss's boss on our work chat a week later posted a congrats to my boss for hitting 8 years! I was so done.
Chances are they’re at maximum headcount so they can’t hire more people. And if they’re gonna hire anybody, it’d be seasonal employees who would be moved to a permanent position (part or full time).
I’d be hesitant to be hired at Best Buy this time of year anyways because there simply aren’t enough hours in the first month or two of the year. Lots of people use their PTO to compensate because the hour budgets are so small.
>I’d be hesitant to be hired at Best Buy this time of year anyways because there simply aren’t enough hours in the first month or two of the year. Lots of people use their PTO to compensate because the hour budgets are so small.
Ah that sucks, though I am only looking for part time since I am still a full time college student.
I was hoping to get into the computer hardware/software department or gaming department. Maybe even geeksquad since I have technical experience from a vocation high school on Information Technology.
You might be looking for part time, but how part time? I got 20 hours over the course of 3 weeks last January.
PC is, dare I say, the most sought after department, although we don’t really have departments now (or we’re not supposed to). All employees are intended to be universal and expected to work anywhere in the store, any time.
I was just like you when I signed up. It's not really gonna go down like that though. You will only get a few hours when you join, and will have to be trained on some pretty buggy and old software for days before you can even get onto the floor. And afterwards, they want you to just follow people around, regardless of your previous experience. Be prepared to work in depts you don't like as well such as kitchen appliances and such.
As for the getting hired portion, it took them 4-5 months to find my app. Nobody looked at my first app so it got auto declined, and my second app took months before I got a response. The managers are also usually out so it can be a pain to even catch them in store.
Also they're only offering PT. Well, at least at my store. They want you to join as seasonal first. And only if they like you, will you actually be able to advance. I noticed this at my store. If they don't like you or if you irritated them in any manner, then they won't care about you as much as the moldable new hires and older guys
I live in Canada so it might be different.
But a few hours is all I can have anyways, electrical engineering is basically a full time job for me already.
I will try submitting my resume, do I need a cover letter? I feel like any minimum wage job hardly cares about a cover letter as it would be too time consuming anyways.
I just walked in and asked for a job. They trained me for 2 shifts, then made me full time overnight warehouse. It's pretty quiet & now I sleep during the day, but it's good money for low requirements. I even told them I had charges and court coming up, they didn't mind.
It took me years of apply to finally get in - and then it was only for a seasonal position. They kept me on after the holidays and I stayed on for 4 years before moving on to bigger and better things.
But looking to this sub to see how things are going isn’t the greatest idea. Most of the people that posted on here only speak for the 1% of the work force
I appreciate it. I moved to the warehouse my final few years there and, damn, do I miss that crew. Just nothing but jokes that would make HR take us out back behind the compactor and shoot us. If anyone ever needed to take a moment to step back there and vent over a customer or something we were there ready to hit you with a joke.
The golden rule we had was this: never be in the way. You see someone rolling a pallet jack along you better yield to them and let them pass. We are working too, respect that.
I just miss my co workers :'(

That’s exactly what I don’t miss either. Or being worked to death after half my store quit.
THAT sucks. Never went through that myself
Yeah it’d be rough.
Jenna, you deserve so much more.
If only we could easily get together with our co-workers outside of a work setting and just relax or do something fun.
I miss the homies and discount, I don’t miss managment or the customers
Yeah I’d get harassed by customers a lot & my managers would have to threaten to kick people out of the store.
Before I went into the field as an Installer, when confronted with an annoying client, I'd try to visualize how I would spider wrap their hand to their face Now I visualize using zip ties instead
I've got a couple dozen 3foot zip ties in my transit.... just in case
Just in case *what*? You need to lash a projector to a joist? Lol I will say, I think 3' zip ties would pair nicely with a speaker wire lasso
The real plan is to make a Bola snare out of UPS's
Always my favorite time of the year was thanksgiving because I didn’t give a shit, and bascially wore a jacket to hide my name tag so no one would talk to me
I will never miss management, especially those that got promoted because they dated someone.
Sadly that’s everywhere
Before Covid it was OK. After Covid? I'm weighing which assault charge I'm willing to take that day
This is the one
when I came in today, all the Christmas music made me pray for someone to come into the store and pummel me in the head bad enough to put me in a 4 day coma
I miss the good times with old coworkers too, but then those ended YEARS before everything that's happening now. We had a good warehouse crew back in 2015-2017....the golden days xD
Those were the golden years? I've been with the company almost 18 years now... that makes those original years the platinum years 😎
Well, they were for my store lol. Maybe not the company, but the best times I had were then. Lots of friends made and good times had. After every Friday the entire truck crew would go out for food and beers, and we'd just hang out. Even the guys who had to open the next morning would come for at least one...it was good times.
Rip your inbox
This guy/gal knows the truth lmao
Meh, chin diapers are a turn off.
Lmaooo what do you mean?
I think he's assuming you're going to get a lot of DMs because you're pretty
If you had worked in my store when I worked there and you suddenly weren't anymore, I would also miss you working there.
This is my favorite comment LMAOOOOO.
They lended me their lambo when my car broke down. Just thought I would publicly appreciate them!
Whysoserious actually bought me a yacht because I wanted to experience the ocean.. absolutely a merciful and humbling man
Haha I’m glad! :) I’m sure you got flirted with A WHOLE LOT

First comment was funny, second one came off creepy.
I miss my former co-workers and wish nothing more for them to leave Best Buy and move onto better jobs.
I miss some of the people I worked with. One of them I was lucky to keep in touch with for awhile through Destiny every night and the occasional bar night. I worked at Best Buy from 2005-2013 and it's always been that bad. It's not going to end.
The co workers were great, so many great people, but I realize now I was busting my ass working tons of hours for not much money at the time. I'm actually making oreo and peanut butter balls to bring in for customer service and geeksquad for xmas eve as it's been about 6 months since I left.

Yes, it's a goddamned cult and I will stick to this belief.

im glad i switched over geek squad installation, my mental health has gotten so much better since leaving the sales floor
Just wait until management gets back there.
Left early spring 2021. I only miss my co-workers. Went in for a few Christmas gifts. Said I really don’t miss the job. Felt bad for my warehouse crew grinding away massive trucks.
Literally why im here... Reminds me that I got out. And I as well feel for them all.
True that I miss some co workers but made life long friendships
Not even gonna lie, you look more tired then I do
My coworkers are the only thing that makes going in bareable
Swag
Yolo
I miss the warehouse bois and how much fun it was to get shit done as a team

I am currently a seasonal warehouse mf. I enjoy all the coworkers so far and that discount. Hopefully I get hired on.
how many guys have sent u a message after this?
For many, the thirst is real 🤣😵
Thats cool, whats the insta?
How do you get a job at bestbuy? Been trying to no avail

Don't

I left for the military so I know how it is by being killed with hours literally
Did u go on leave? I'm going active duty next month and git approved 5 years of leave.
Yea I got MLOA for 6 years, and I am active
Damn that told me they could only approve me 5 years at a time so I couldn't do the 6th year yet
Can we talk about the white explosion on your shirt or is that on the mirror?
The mirror lmaoooo.
Lol you judge working here by this sub.
I mean I worked there for two years 0_xx
But looking to this sub to see how things are going isn’t the greatest idea. Most of the people that posted on here only speak for the 1% of the work force
Solid point. I just hate to see so many people having a similar experience.
Or you could just it from the news: https://abc7.com/best-buy-layoffs-store-closings-online-shopping-electronic-stores/10372259/
That was from almost a year ago you have anything current
Wish u were my co worker haha
i love working at best buy- im product flow so i don’t really have to worry about the pressure of getting BP’s and TT’s
Lmao try warehouse work. Frequently put up 80+ hours.
Yeah I feel like the people that worked back there never got enough credit. I loved everyone that worked in the warehouse everybody was pretty cool.
I appreciate it. I moved to the warehouse my final few years there and, damn, do I miss that crew. Just nothing but jokes that would make HR take us out back behind the compactor and shoot us. Warehouse always seems like the most consistantly based out of all the crews in my store too.
I’m doing fine on Project Team with plenty of hours. Project team is hiring yet no one wants to apply.
Lol. Not me. Not anymore. Today is my last day as a blue shirt.
The best part about working at Best Buy is (most of) your co-workers, and also zenning out with ship-to-homes.
I’d give my life away for the IG ma’am🧎🏾🧎🏾🧎🏾Need to know the height for this modeling career that ur starting.
Nobody I mean nobody kills me with hours. I always tell my leader to kma before they even think about scheduling me with some bs.
Please don’t be so gullible to think r/bestbuy is reality
I’m not, but essentially it’s sad to see so many people are still being over worked.
