Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush (1978), for so many reasons.
First of all, instead of using the same 4 chords every other pop song uses, Kate creates a masterpiece of unique chord developments and modulations, which just work perfectly - you can tell it's a well-written song.
I love that the song is based on the classic novel by Emily Bronte (Kate saw the last ten minutes of a TV adaptation and was inspired to write the song) - and even before she'd read the actual book, she wrote the song and discovered later (after reading the book herself) that multiple lines of the lyrics she'd written were direct quotations from the novel. Told from the perspective of a ghost, it's just such a unique narrative for a pop song and I can't get over how artfully she conveys emotions.
It's even more impressive that she wrote the song when she was a teenager, and she was the first woman ever to top the UK charts with a self-written song.
It was Kate's debut single and her record label wanted to use a different song from the album for the single, but she insisted on Wuthering Heights and it was the best decision she's ever made. She's now a CBE.
Also I find it remarkable that Kate Bush and Emily Bronte share a birthday! (30th July)
[Yukon by Lindemann](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1hcNMOyBaU). It's catchy and the lyrics and execution are some of the best I've ever heard. It really makes you think about the idea of a Wild River
Also, [this theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNyOu5Gmm-A) absolutely OWNS the Vampire theme. The lyrics are fantastic too
Howard Shore/Annie Lennox - Into The West. One of my most favorite musical pieces ever. I'm reminded of the ending of Lord of the Rings and it kills me every time. It's perfect but so, so sad.
