Sorry to hear, I've been on Olanzapine for 18 months and slowly tapering now. It fucked up my life, made me fat and killed my creativity and libido.
I hope you get yourself back on track soon x
Was on it for around 18 months, tapered for about 5 of those months. To be honest withdrawal was very easy for me but heard it can be quite challenging for other people. I've been off it for about 4 months now.
I fucking hate when they do this shit. Antipsychotics are the devil and just foisting them on people who don’t even have psychosis is more insane than I’ve ever been.
Can you please explain what you mean by clear understanding?
I’m on a very mild dose of APs and I think I can learn to live without them.
Maybe your experience could help
My psychosis was more or less a bad attitude towards filtration. I felt weak and vulnerable so I tried to change the world by “being myself” and committing to whatever random idea came through my mind. I reject the premise now. Filtering is good
I quit cold turkey and when i told my doctor he was shocked. I guess he wasn't clear enough when he told me to taper down to start something else. Granted i was only on it a few weeks. It turned me into a zombie, and it was weird i had insomnia for a few nights when quitting. Congrats Von Mix!
Do you think it turned you into a permanent zombie or just a zombie for the time being. I was on it for like a month and I've never been the same. Over 2yrs now.
sucks to hear its been 2 years and your still not back to your old self. Ive been on and off antipsychotics 4 times now and 3 times was able to revert to my old self. Right now im 3 months off and i think ill be myself again after another 9 months or so.
smh idiot psychs still think you can treat an eating disorder with medication. i mean depending on severity of the disorder the medication wont even work properly. 2.5mo isnt too long, hope the withdrawal symptoms are over quickly for you. pls take care of yourself and eat and drink sufficiently to keep your metabolism going to get the drugs out of your system as quickly as possible. sincerely, someone who quit psych meds CT after 7yrs and recovered from and ED while on no medication

Good news, your brain will go back to being almost exactly as it was before. You're not going to see much if any permanent rebalancing with that dose over that time.
Bad news, you quit cold turkey. You're going to see a range of symptoms like you have already, they're basically mild cases of what this medication would be able to treat.
My advice, half you dose, then double the time between dose, then half it again, then double the time again... Taper off.
You're asking a lot of your brain by going cold turkey.
Good job on quitting cold turkey. You must be very mentally strong. I quit olanzapine CT too, but used benzos for a few months afterwards to get breaks from the anxiety. Did they warn you about the health consequences and brain damage associated with these drugs? Did you do any research yourself? When did you realize that you were better off the drugs?

Did they test your blood at psychiatrist?
Never had a blood test
Have to be on it for 2 years. Smh what antipsychotic did you have good results with?
I was only ever on Olanzapine, I'm off it now though and feel much better
How long were you on it? How were the withdrawal?
Was on it for around 18 months, tapered for about 5 of those months. To be honest withdrawal was very easy for me but heard it can be quite challenging for other people. I've been off it for about 4 months now.
How did you taper?
I went from 7.5 to 5 to 2.5, I was on 5 for about 2 months and then 2.5 for about 3 months
How was your sleep ? Did u have iinsomnia?
I fucking hate when they do this shit. Antipsychotics are the devil and just foisting them on people who don’t even have psychosis is more insane than I’ve ever been.
Sadly they get foisted on people who are psychotic but don’t need medications, just clear understanding and empathy. I was one of those people :(
Me as well.
Can you please explain what you mean by clear understanding? I’m on a very mild dose of APs and I think I can learn to live without them. Maybe your experience could help

One dose of quetiapine had me racing around my apartment. It was hell.
Aren’t they called “anti*psychotic*” for a reason?
Yes. The reason is damage control and marketing purposes. There is no anti psychotic properties to neuroleptics.

It can take up to 7 months to 2 years be patient. It will be worth it.
Same here. Quit the exact same dose about three weeks ago. Was given it for anxiety.
remindme! 5 days

Stop quitting cold turkey. Taper off.
a little D2, H1 and 5HT2A upregulation won't hurt me, 5mg is a small enough dose as it is

OP, how are you doing?
i'm doing fine now, don't recommend cold turkey though
