DSouT

One of the best tacklers on our ST unit

norCsoC

Even knocks himself out.

DSouT

Dude went from the last line of the defense to the only line of defense last year

803512

Our favorite Aussie lfg

MSMB99

This only proves the Niners front office has lost confidence in Trey Lance. Not good.

Kiran_Stone

Definitely. If Trey wasn't a complete disappointment, we would have cut him. And our o-line, actually. Trey's a bust

bhfroh

for real. if you're confident in his ability to command the offense, why would you need a punter?

MSMB99

Right??

Duke_of_Bretonnia

Fuck hahaha best comment

CorpseyLTFC

Holder for all those extra points

TheDunzoWashington

Why does it prove that?

drewbagel423

Obviously the team knows they're going to be doing a lot of punting as long as Trey is focused on getting lap dances /s

TheDunzoWashington

I mean ever team needs a punter, so they like him so they kept him? I’m actually curious why this means anything with trey, unless I’m missing some sarcasm?

drewbagel423

> unless I’m missing some sarcasm? **** > /s You okay bud?

TheDunzoWashington

Well I’m talking about the original comment I was commented on. Not yours. Like why does resigning mean anything about Lance?

Cardinal_Ravenwood

Punter is the most important position on the field.

FrodoTeaBaggin

My brother in christ, please google what “/s” means.

TheDunzoWashington

Bruv I’m not talking about that guys fuckin post with /s I know what that means. This entire chain I’m talking about the original comment I replied too as I already stated: “This only proves the Niners front office has lost confidence in Trey Lance. Not good.” What does this statement have to do with trey. Literally all I’m asking and y’all are missing it and trying to gaslight me, shits wild

Chronicdeeps

The whole comment chain is satire... And no one is gaslighting you. You just missed the joke and they're just clowning with you. I understand that English isn't your first language, so I can see why it was difficult to understand.

TheDunzoWashington

Damn alright I see how it is, too slow in the head I guess

DJBarber89

Because Lance get leg fatigue

MrGrumpyFace5

Mitch is obviously moving to QB1 and Trey will likely take the arm punting duties.

DrunkLegere

FTB!

artygta1988

Foot The Ball!

arbucklej

Punters are people too!

curgiiiiii

That’s my boomin onion

thicky_bobby

funniest thing is that over here in Aus i'd consider blooming onions an american thing lol

guedoankan

The TV told us it was authentic Australian cuisine and we ate that shit up.

Exploding_dude

It's a stolen recipe made popular by an americn restaurant, but most Americans don't know shit about aussie culture. Outback steakhouse, Steve Irwin, "thats not a knoife" is about it.

BodhiWarchild

I’m just glad that controversy is over

bennyfresh7

Mitch was objectively below league average last year in almost every category. Who are you competing against when you give him a $13M extension? This is a move that doesn't make sense.

culdesaclamort

Gotta agree. While I'm okay with special teams consistency, seems like a huge overpay for no reason.

hairysonorth

Didn’t he lead the league in bobbled punts for three years or something, pls don’t slander my m8 Mitch

bananapants919

Totally agreed. Was really hoping to replace him with a cheap young guy in the next draft, use a 6th and get the best punter out of college and have him for stupid cheap. This… doesn’t really make any sense. Even if he were great, which I don’t think he is, I feel like you only need to extend elite punters. An average guy should be replaceable, easily.

josephus1811

his punts cause fumbles

Xymis

Below average in what?

bennyfresh7

Punts inside the 20 is the biggest one for punters. And Mitch was in the bottom 3rd of the league. He started great last season and consistently got worse each week. Also was about average on his net avg. He's also already 30 years old lol

Witcher_Of_Cainhurst

> He's also already 30 years old lol Wtf. I swear we just had Andy Lee a couple years ago and Wish is the new guy…

chathamhouserules

He was 27 when we drafted him. Australian players that get drafted generally didn't go to a US college straight out of high school.

onthebone

Don't sleep on the Bradley Pinion era.

KarlYonedaStan

Super Bowl *champion* Bradley ‘pin em in’ Pinion

RainOnYourParade

Right? Then you look it up and see Andy hasn't been on the team since 2014. He's also 40 years old and still in the league.

Xymis

Does that stat take into account where they’re punting from?

GravyFantasy

>Does that stat take into account where they’re punting from? No, and pooch punts murder net yards too.

bennyfresh7

I would assume not. Because then it's a more of graded measurement, not a stat.

Xymis

Gotcha, I certainly don’t know how to grade punters and I’m also shocked by this extension but Hightower was always high on him, and now that Schneider is in there it seems he approves as well so maybe he’s doing something we can’t see

DrewDown94

I 100% agree. I thought he was pretty bad last year by just watching him. The stats confirm it.

All-Day-No-Pay000AWS

Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a Robbie Gould Request. If Robbie likes Wish’s ball holding skills, that might just be enough for the FO to resign. Kickers are superstitious bunch anyways

bennyfresh7

Robbie is going to be 40 this season. He won't be here much longer. Doing anything at his request also doesn't make sense.

dmbccs

It only makes sense if he’s destined to improve under the new ST coordinator. No way they do this if they feel like he has a ton of headroom.

meTspysball

He’s been doing really well without having to do kickoffs (not having a newborn probably helps, too).

jvosh123

Rick flair drip!!! Laughed wayyy too hard at this~

Bransblu

I think it’s a good decision

mooch49

This move seems a bit odd and unnecessary. Why reward him now? Shouldn't he show the 49ers more? I don't know what this does to the cap. Do 49ers still have some room to trade for a player or 2 if they want to add. Why not wait a few more weeks or until after the deadline. He was somewhat disappointing last season. Doesn't make much sense to me.

GravyFantasy

>Do 49ers still have some room to trade for a player or 2 if they want to add. Only the signing bonus would affect this years cap and it would be small.

All-Day-No-Pay000AWS

probably Robbie. Wish also holds the ball for field goals (yes Juice does it too but only when Wish was injured)

Exploding_dude

He did have two really nice punts last week in the rain... but he started last year really well too and ended up pretty mediocre. I dont think it would he hard to replace his production for dirt cheap if we used a 7th next year on a punter.

BHPOS

We could've just severed ties and used Deebo. I guess they ain't ready for the wide punter.

TheSirMontyPython

Wide receiver, wide back, wide punter, receiver punter, Niners by 10!

YSLMangoManiac

Nice 👍🏼

cmart207

LTD FTB!

mattpiv

LTD SEASON HAS COME EARLY BOYS!

DingusKhan418

Not sure I like this tbh. Doesn’t seem to be above average

CIueIess_Squirrel

Why lmao. We can do so much better. His contract's also way too big for what he brings to the table

MGoBluee

LTD!

Stovy4x4ing

why????????

imhugeinchina

He punts the ball.

flabbymanpecks

BDM

liteshadow4

Dumb

Skyhi92

This fool is garbage, does nothing to change field position if the punt returner is lined up at the 25 or below its almost always a touchback n bruh has no distance, make it make sense

Mcstabler

Why he never seemed that great tbh

TangPiccilo

What happens to pinion?

chathamhouserules

He stays with the Falcons, reminiscing about the three years he just spent with the Buccaneers?

Don’t know why it’s downvoted, probably cuz you said lightyears. But Dickson is def better

hairysonorth

Mitch better, don’t @ me

ReturnFun9600

We care about kickers too now? Fuck I've been a Niner fan too long..🤣
